Well, I personally can’t wait to start playing the Fractals. Tonight will hopefully be my last run of Arah for a while because I’ll be too busy fracking (feel free to use that one).
That being said, I am now moving off of the new dungeon team and moving onto the bug fixing team. My focus will entirely be on dungeons, so dungeon problems should be getting more concentrated attention on them.
Good to hear! Hopefully some of those more annoying dungeon bugs will get fixed now (Please fix hitting nightmare blossoms!).
Who’s the new scapegoat dungeon team person? You know, just in case we want to send threats cakes or cookies.
That’s incredibly strange. Good for you though, now you can have two different versions of a burning book for your back slot.
I’ll believe it when you show me 2 of the mad memories in your backpack. Until then this is just a screenshot of you unequiping it.
The first time I ever saw a preview of Dusk, I thought I could see my mesmer using a weapon like that.
Naegling has the exact same model as Dusk and you can get one (or craft your own) for well under 20g.
The worst part is that the rarest lodestone is used in the most recipes. Charged lodestones are nearly 3g each, and used in Mjolnir, Foefire’s Power, Foefire’s Essence, Azureflame, Aether, the Guardian shield, Sunrise, and probably some others that I’m missing.
Compare that to glacial lodestones which are used in 1 dagger recipe and 1 legendary.
That’s a good thing. Gems aren’t necessary to play the game, but you can buy some nice conveniences with them: extra character slots, extra bank tabs, extra backpack slots…
Seems like nearly every other ranger or thief that I see has Arachnophobia.
Prior to the supposed nerf:
- Rares salvaged by a black lion kit had a return rate of 1.5 ectos per salvage.
- Rares salvaged by mystic/master kits had a return rate of 0.75 ectos per salvage.
- Exotics salvaged by a black lion kit had a return rate of 2.5 ectos per salvage.
- Exotics salvaged by mystic/master kits had a return rate of 1.25 ectos per salvage.
These are calculated values related to the number of possible ectoplasms that can be returned per item and the salvage probability of the kit. These values match up perfectly with my own samples of over 1000 rares salvaged. I’ve only salvaged 50 exotics, and based on my sample size and returned amout, that matches up very closely as well.
Every other large sample size I’ve seen posted has tracked incredibly closely to these numbers as well (0.72, 0.80 being the other 2 largest samples I’ve seen posted over on the guru boards).
Mystic and Master kits list a salvage rate of 25% for “rarer materials”.
Rare items can return up to 3 ectoplasms. If we assume each “attempt” has a 25% chance of success:
- (75% * 75% * 75%) = 42% chance to get no ectos
- (3 * (25% * 75% * 75%) ) = 42% chance to get 1 ecto
- (3 * (25% * 25% * 75%) ) = 14% chance to get 2 ectos
- (25% * 25% * 25%) = 1.5% chance to get 3 ectos
The “3” multiplier in the 1 and 2 ecto cases is due to permutations.
If we have a 42% chance to get 1, a 14% chance to get 2, and a 1.5% chance to get 3, the averaged value comes out to exactly 0.75 ectos per salvage. Again, we’re working with averages and statistics here, so don’t expect to always get 3 ectos per 4 salvages.
The same logic can be followed to find the other 3 average values I listed above, with the only changes being the number of ectos possible (and thus, permutations) from exotics, and the higher success rate of black lion kits.
Post “nerf”: I’ve salvaged 15 rares and recieved 9 ectos. It’s not a statistically significant sample size, but is actually tracking quite closely to the expected value. I haven’t salvaged any exotics.
i downloaded the mobile Authenticator for the IPhone and used it successfully for several weeks, and then today it stopped being required for logging in to my account. i unlinked the authenticator app and relinked it, but it still wasn’t working. i deleted the app and relinked my account to my mobile authenticator but it still isn’t asking me for the six-digit code after i log in. is this a change in account security parameters or is it a bug?
many thanks

Hi all,
First and foremost: please be aware that your accounts are still protected by the mobile authenticator at this time.
Here’s what has happened:
- We have been developing a “remember this network” feature for the mobile authenticator in line with the same feature used by email authentication
- This feature became active tonight during the planned maintenance updates
- For any account which has already selected to remember a network, the mobile authenticator will respect your existing settings
- This means that if you are logging in from a location that you permitted via email authentication, the mobile authenticator will not currently prompt you for a secondary code
Your account is still covered by the authenticator for logins from unverified locations.
This is the result of an oversight on my part and I’d like to apologize for any uncertainty and worry. We’ve double checked the systems and authentication is working correctly for unverified logins.
Unlinking the authenticator was temporarily disabled due to a configuration accident; this has been corrected and should work again.
For the moment we do not have a user interface for editing your “remembered” network locations. As a result, please be very cautious when selecting to allow new locations from the emails (or, in the near future, from the mobile authenticator login screen).
Thanks for bearing with us while we get the rest of the mobile authenticator features ready to go.
No, backbraces are not visible, even if you take off all of your gear.
Single-use. Combine the appearance of one item with the attributes of another. Items must be of the same type. Usable on all item levels.
Nothing in there says it can’t be used on trinkets.
Amulets, Rings, and Accessories. These are the only 3 types of items that can’t be placed in Transmutation Stones.
Yes, other MMOs have done that. Everquest is a prime example of that, with 25 languages (all fluent ones able to be selected by a drop down menu IIRC).
They can be in your guild, and in your party, but you can’t do dungeons together.
I can tell you one thing for sure: There won’t be a jumping puzzle for Wintersday. One of the holiday content devs confirmed that earlier on Reddit. He did say there would be other challenging content, but it wouldn’t involve platforming.
You don’t. You’ll only get the benefit of one of them.
This guy made a lot of them (including the very first one ever). I don’t know if he specifically made the Mt Malestrom one.
Here’s the full image that the above text is from:
Any greens above level 30 or so can randomly turn into yellows in the MF.
Keep in mind though, level 80 greens sell to the vendor for around 2-3 silver, and you can buy a lot of rares off the TP for 10 silver each.
You mean 90 vitality 64 healing 64 condition damage.

Just about every variation of the trinkets are in the loot tables, but they drop so infrequently, and they are bind on pickup, you hardly ever see them.
A quick search would have confirmed that for you instead of blowing 700 gems.
I’ve done the clock tower around 50ish times. I have a success rate somewhere around 90% (1 failure for every 10 attempts).
Well, I was just in an instance of the clock tower here the animations were a little… off. The very first explosion of the bricks and cogs would freeze about halfway through for a split second, and then continue again. The same thing would happen to the animation after the leap of faith (and once caused me to fall and fail because I fell right through where the piece I usually jump onto should be).
I made it to the top 3 times in this instance, all 3 times I waited for the correct rotation and for the lightning strike before jumping, and all 3 times I would get chomped and sent right back to the waiting room.
There was nobody that successfully made it into the final chest room in the instance I was in.
I left clocktower and immediately rejoined, ended up in another instance, and made it into the chest room on the first try.
The only thing I can think of is how the animations in that instance were “weird” and maybe the same thing was happening to the lightning strike animation, even though the animation and sound played, the invisible zoning entrance that was supposed to appear was delayed.
No, this is wrong. I had the emote bar what seemed like nearly every single run I did (I think it was given to the dungeon starter more often than not) and I hardly ever got exotics, despite doing the dungeon 100+ times.
Zone out of LA and then zone back in. I got the achievement.
Get them to take a pic of it and post it and if possible for both male and female chars.
It’s the generic “named” skin for armor sets, not a unique skin.
Since they’re soulbound on acquire…
Incorrect, try doing a search on the trading post for Mad King. Each piece is between 1 and 2 gold on average.
No, this does not happen. I’ve been the leader of several groups, and the leader has to do several, very specific, steps to boot everyone out of the instance. Just exiting doesn’t do it. I submitted a bug report about it, so I won’t post it here. The party leader is griefing you if he does this, report him and move on.
I think people are complaining because they need a scape goat, not because they would actually do any better even in a solo instance.
Nope. You can do it once.
im officially disappointed with the forums. 260 views and cant answer a “yes” or “no” question.
“When is attend the party?”
Yes.
No.
As for the 140g cost…I saw someone offering 1 of the exotics for 70g BEFORE the dungeon opened. I was amazed to see it.
As for crafting in GW2, I gave up any ideas that it was salvageable and I love being a crafter.
That’s because the Halloween exotics started dropping from the labyrinth chest on Friday.
You’ve ran the mad king dungeon one time too many.
I also like hearing the crunching noise as players behind me fall off or get swallowed up.
Hat: What were your run times for each path? Time you zoned in to time you got the reward.
I assume it’s a bug, but it’s probably purely in the way DR is implemented and the way the dungeon rewards you with loot.
With all the MK runs that I’ve done, I’m looking forward to a LOT of DR on my future dungeon runs.
If your skillbar changes to the emotes, and you do the wrong one or don’t do any at all, you get knocked down and hit for ~8k damage. If your skillbar doesn’t change you don’t need to manually type in any emotes or anything, just kill the mobs.
There has been no official word that they would reskin those armor sets. Doesn’t make much sense to change an armor’s skin AFTER it stops being available to everyone.
There are 2 types of dungeon DR.
Type 1 – Running the same path more than once in a row.
Type 2 – Running any number of dungeons in less time than X.
Type 1 is specific to that dungeon path. Type 2 is applied to all paths and is account based. Type 1 is to prevent overfarming in the event that a bug is discovered in a single path that allows that path to be farmed easily/quickly. Type 2 is to prevent an overarching bug that allows players to complete dungeons faster than programmed.
He teleports back up to the middle level fairly often if someone in your group is still hanging out there after someone else aggros him on the lowest level.
Use the tool to report it.
Forum complaining = infraction for you
Reporting them = temp ban for them
^This. Name and shame on the official forums is against policy.
But keep in mind that once Act 4 starts you won’t be able to do Act 3 anymore.
Nope, it’s a fairly generic skin unfortunately.
How is this voting with your money if you already bought the 100EUR worth of gems?
It’s voting for arenanet… You can either vote for (buy gems) or against (don’t buy gems). Just because you vote one way or another doesn’t mean you didn’t vote.
I broke it down in another post in this forum, averaging things out, you make nearly 3x more gold running Orr event chains compared to farming the mad king dungeon (taking into account getting rare skins and whatnot).
Does this mean that MK puts my whole account on diminished returns for any dungeon in the game?
Yep. It’s a dungeon, and gives you dungeon rewards at the end.
No.
No.
No.
No.
Basically, all of the content (mobs, mini games) will stop spawning, but none of the rewards (skins, loot) will be taken from you.
Did you do the mad king ascent thing in LA recently?
Yes. more characters.
