Please. Now you want to redefine my post to suit your needs? I know what dominant means. What I stated was factual.
Enough. Deimos, stop trolling this thread.
no, not to suit my needs, because you are attempting to spread wrong information. this is uncalled for.
what you stated is factual, but you merely stated that warriors are popular, you did not and can not prove that warriors are dominant.
warriors are popular, but they are not dominant.
enough, Thedenofsin, stop spreading incorrect information about warriors.
tPVP/sPvP/solo – the side with the most warriors will win the vast majority of the time. proof.
wvw zergs – the side with the most warriors will win the vast majority of the time. Double warrior is still the meta and is only defeated by teams that are vastly better coordinated. proof
dungeons/fractals – take a look at LFG. 4warrior+mesmer (TW bot) for the fastest clears. proof.
open world events – Warriors will get the most karma and the fastest kills. Look at any tutorial video on how to grind karma the fastest and it will state that warrior is the best. proof.
There’s your proof. If you want more, then go find it yourself.
Deimos, I am shocked at how blind you are to your own bias. Are you some kind of shill for the developers?
If warriors are truly balanced, then you would not see these kinds of threads, and so many of them. The only people who try to defend warriors are the people that actually play them.
what you stated is factual, but you merely stated that warriors are popular,<snip>
I stated warriors are dominant, not popular. Stop trolling this thread.

Just because it is popular doesn’t mean it should be nerfed. There are a good number of reasons to nerf some select warrior traits and skills, but being a heavily played class has nothing to do with it.
I’m not discussing the popularity of the class. I’m discussing the fact it is the most dominant class in nearly every area of the game.
it is the most dominant profession in almost all parts of the game because:
1. easy to play (PvE, WvW, sPvP)
2. many rooms for errors (PvE, WvW?, sPvP against equally or lesser skilled players)
3. warriors is a classic and popular professionwhile it is dominant (as in popular) it does not mean it is overpowered.
Actually, that is exactly what dominant means. Go look up the definition of dominant in the dictionary before you post further, please.
We don’t need another thread describing previous arguments already made back and forth with concern to Healing Signet. Needless to say, dropping Healing Signet to anything below 350 Healing Per Second and you immediately invalidate it’s viability. Not to mention the other major issues with Healing Utilities on the warrior…
Therefore, Signet of the Ether needs to be boosted.
No it’s a garbage reduction and ANet needs to fix it tootvsweet.
OTG is a great guild. Highly recommended you join.
Whenever Scarlet finishes her work, she always drops a big steam creature behind for someone else to clean up.
OP, these are good observations.
Prepare to be bombarded by the warrior trolls that will tell you to “learn to play”, or that it is “working as intended”, or that warriors are designed to be superior “to support casuals”, or some such nonsense.
The truth of the matter is Healing Signet is incredibly overpowered, and I’d challenge any developer to prove otherwise. Heck, even a clone-on-death Mesmer build, (you know, the ones the developers call “cheese” and feel needs to be nerfed) cannot drop a bunker warrior with HS.

I’d qualify that. Shatter mesmers counter warriors. Phantasm mesmers don’t really do enough damage before they are killed to threaten warriors.
I may be using the term loosely here, but if we apply the meta-gaming to the story, I think we can draw a couple of conclusions.
First, it is clear ANet is pushing the community to defeating bigger and badder bosses.
Second, it is also clear ANet has learned that these encounters are only feasible with distributed tasks (to avoid lag and zerks).
So, the next boss will be even bigger and even harder. Since dragons are way cooler than some giant annelid, it doesn’t take much reaching to conclude there’s going to be some kind of big distributed dragon fight in our future.
OK, so it’s safe to assume we’re going to have a big dragon to fight.
Which one? Well, there’s Jormag, Kralkatorrik, Bubbles, Mordremoth and Primordus.
The hints given in the teaser metronome suggest something underground, either below the surface or the ocean.
That eliminates Jormak and Kralkatorrik.
The thumpers are designed to search for something, as told to us by our Asuran friend after we killed the Marionette. Let’s assume she’s correct – it would be prudent for us to do so.
OK, so Scarlet is looking for something under the earth, or under the bay. That eliminates the possibility of Bubbles, since she’d be looking in the ocean.
Now the question is: Mordremoth or Primodus.
Everything up to this point has suggested Primordus is the big baddie among the elder dragons.
If they go for Primordus now, that means that ANet has given up the ghost on GW2 and is going for the throat. (i.e. expect no more expansions after that) Since they are just now opening up China, I’m guessing ANet is planning for at least another 18 months of development for GW2 – perhaps even 2 years. So they’ll save the whole Primordus and dwarf story for later…most likely.
Based upon this logic, I’m going to rule out Primordus, leaving Mordremoth. Combine this with the fact Scarlet is a Sylvari and most closely associated with the jungle dragon, I feel it’s safe to conclude we’ll be fighting Mordremoth next.

FYI – regulator Warden V can be CC’d. So you can do things like pull them into a group and dps them down.
as in, some profession will have an easier time against certain professions, and a harder time against certain professions.
But you think warriors should be good against all professions, and be the easiest to play.
errr no.
i think warriors are good against those who deal puny damage. You are very, very wrong. Every single good player left (all 5 of them) playing this game will tell you that.
Warrior is completely broken in this game. The March balance patch is their last shot to show the community they know what they are doing. After that, it’s 4.4.14 and this place will be a complete ghost town.
If you think ESO is going to be any better you’re sorely mistaken. As much as I want a new game to play since ArenaNet seems oblivious to game balance at best, ESO is not going to be that game. Considering it will also have a subscription and cash shop subscriber attrition will hit that game like a ton of bricks, think SWTOR.
TESO will have a massive pull on the PVE community. massive
When that cash cow is gone, there won’t be anyone left.

This thread should be in the Profession Balance forum.
Increase travel speed by about 40%
Ether Bolt: 100% projectile finisher
Remove Ether Blast
Damage increases by 10% for every condition on the target
That should do it. Now it will do decent damage and synergizes nicely with condition builds.
Shall we start another thread about Scepter 2?
(edited by Thedenofsin.7340)
Warriors are not the dominant profession in solo queue by far. It is a completely unfounded observation.
Take 2 arbitrary solo queue teams. The one with the most warriors will win.
QED
getting downed fixes it
She’s going to drill into the ley lines and blow them up using her laser – thus disrupting/destroying the source of magic.
The broken Asura gate is symbolic – breaking the cycle.
Wanted to thank you all again for the wand.
And to let you know we are all putting it to good use, I’ve attached a screenie.
(we had a friend hold the camera)
I’ve never seen a thief consistently deal more single target dps than a warrior outside of a short fight.
Warriors are actually out DPSed by Eles, Thieves, Mesmers and about the same as Guardian, just losing out.
I’ll never understand why people think they do the highest DPS. A big 100b number =/= good DPS.
Elementalists can out-damage warriors only in large AoE situations.
Aside from that, Warriors do more dps than thieves, Mesmers and Guardians, with far less effort.
Yes, if you nerf dodging you are indirectly buffing big damage and damage soaking.
So, yes, it’s another buff for warriors.
Yak’s Bend beat her a few times on 1/22
What I am saying is poison on a burst heal will hit the whole heal. Poison cannot be timed to be put on a warrior when they would want to heal. So poison has an effect but it is very minor vs such a passive heal because the heal is spread out over time.
minor? are you sure?
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Poison
Deals damage every second; heal potency decreased by 33%; stacks duration.healing signet 392 × 0.64 = 250.88 per second
adrenal health 360 × 0.64 = 230.40 per 3 secondspoison basically neuters healing signet to 250 health per second.
minor?
Are you just trolling on behalf of the warrior community, or are you truly blind to the arguments made?
Let’s assume the latter.
An active heal has roughly a 1 second cast time. Let’s say you can apply poison for 3 seconds every 10 seconds. A poison application with a 3 second duration reduces the effectiveness of that heal by 33%.
That same poison reduces HS effectiveness by 11%, since it can only reduce healing by one third 33% of the time.
Minor? Yes, minor.
Warriors were only “in a bad spot” in PvP. There were, and continue to be, top dog in all things PVE and most things WvW, including, but not limited to: dungeons, fractals, world bosses, WvW zergs and GvG.
Taking a quick look at this game, I couldn’t help but notice a pattern:
GW2 Activity / Dominant Profession
Dungeons: Warrior
Fractals: Warrior
Open World Events: Warrior
Open World Bosses: Warrior
WvW Zergs: Warrior
Hot Join PvP: Warrior
Solo PvP: Warrior
Team PvP: Warrior
GvG: Warrior
WvW roaming: Thief/Mesmer
At the 1,000 foot-level, this doesn’t look like something that’s balanced: quite the opposite.
Does the balance team ever look up and examine profession balance across the board?
During the “Ready Up” stream, the developers were very concerned about over-nerfing Healing Signet for warriors such that it may not make them viable in the meta (i.e. team PvP).
Why is this such a massive concern? It’s not as though warriors are in so bad a place that no one will ever play warrior in Guild War(ior)s 2 again if you do nerf them out of the meta. They’d still be the most powerful profession for the vast majority of the game.
Now, take a look at, say, engineers. I can’t remember the last time I saw an engineer in anything but PvP and roaming WvW. Nerfing engineers very well could result in the profession not being played – anywhere.
Here’s where I am scratching my head: you’ve buffed a class to the point where it is, literally, the most dominant class in nearly every aspect of the entire game, and you guys are deeply worried about over-nerfing it in just one area of the game.
You guys are the balance team, and I’m sure that role has to necessarily include all aspects of gameplay in Guild Wars 2. So I’m asking: is this balanced?
(edited by Thedenofsin.7340)
Oddly enough, clone-on-death is viable in tPvP.
…and it’s going to get nerfed.
As someone who absolutely loathes the Wurm and grinding for “Story”, I will say that the Marionette fight is really exciting.
Mesmers (and elementalists) will not be competitive in PvP unless ANet nerfs thieves.
It’s really that simple.
I was watching Sensotix’s last “Mesmer Team-Q PUG=fun” stream.
He was playing thief.
I haven’t seen this to date, but I don’t see why it could not be done.
Has the balance team considered separate skills/utilities in order to buff the PVE behavior?
I can think of many classes that could really benefit from boosts to help their viability in PVE.
Focus #4 is great for slowing all the trash mobs in the lane, or dropping it behind them and pulling them back.
If players are rooting the Champion clockworks correctly, you get lots of damage out from iWarden (when he works). As a Sylvari Mesmer, I’ll pop Grasping Vines, then iWarden and the enemy will eat an entire attack.
Additionally, if you face Champion Boss #5, you can use Focus #4 to help pull the mobs together.
iDueler is decent but has no AoE. Pistol #5 doesn’t have the gross CC ability Focus #4 does.
(edited by Thedenofsin.7340)
I’d actually pay money for those changes.
This is good – please keep the questions coming. Duplicates are encouraged as they will be prioritized.
I’ve found this to be the best build for the marionette fight.
It deals good burst damage and provides the right kind of support necessary for the encounter:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQNAsdRl4zyoHTTgGa9IypHJH0NdkUoapWJF42FC
In short, it’s a 20/20/0/30/0 Phantasm build with GS/Sw+Focus. I’d recommend 100% zerker gear.
Shatter will AoE remove conditions AND grant AoE vigor. This means shatters are very useful for your group when doing Phase II Champions 3 and 4. 100% Vigor uptime for your entire group is HUGE when fighting Champions 3 and 4. It’s almost a guaranteed win.
For Phase II Champion 5, I’d recommend bringing Signet of Midnight. AoE blind on 4 targets is really pretty big.
If you are a Sylvari, I’d recommend dropping Mantra of Distraction for Grasping Vines. It’s a guaranteed 7 second root for Twisted Champions, and can be helpful against boss Champions as well.
Against Champ 3 you can shatter and give everyone 10-15 seconds of vigor (or more!)
Against Champ 4 you can shatter and rip Confusion off everyone before they kill themselves.
I personally run with 6x Runes of the Centaur and believe it is one of the best hybrid dps/support builds you can run for this encounter. Perma-swiftness means you can lane jump as fast as anyone.
(edited by Thedenofsin.7340)
3 lanes forward, not 2. i.e. lane 4 can go to lane 2 to help.
Edit: I’d recommend adding 2 groups of 5 roamers.
Group A: Lane 1,4,2
Group B: Lane 2,5,3 (prolly never get to 3)
Those groups should have high dps, high root/immob or knockback (for Champ 5), and some good group vigor/cleanse for Champ 3/4.

Did ArenaNet hire a wow developer for making new content?
Do you really have to skip the cutscene just to get the “Marionette Dismisser” achievement?
Seriously?
If so, who thought that was a good idea?
Is this happening to anyone else?
End up in overflow, then the “Travel” window appears and ..
you end up in another, far worse, overflow?
WTF?
this will be working as intended, because, fast hands trait is working as intended.
activating 2 different on swap sigils on each swap is an intended game play mechanic for warriors with fast hands trait.
nothing overpowered.
move along, nothing more to see here.
Then don’t you think it’s unfair for only warriors to be able to do this?
do you think it is fair that
mesmers have illusions
thieves can stealth
necromancers have death shroudetc.
warriors have fast hands.
this is working as intended.
get over it.You keep stating the same gimmicks for other professions whenever people talk about warriors just quit it.
You can’t argue that warriors are balanced while using the same class mechanics of other classes all the time in your arguments.Random poster 1: “Warrior landpeed is broken”
Deimos: “Thief have stealth, mesm have illusions etc.”Random poster 2: “warrior have insane health regen in a passive skill while having the highest health and armor”
Deimos : “Thief can survive with stealth and mesm can use illusions etc.”Random poster 3: “Warriors will be able to proc 4 sigils every 10 sec”
Deimos: “It’s fine because Theif have stealth, mesm have illusions etc”
Agreed. He is trolling.
Here is my prediction:
Much like how an Asura laser killed Zhaitan, Scarlet is designing a new super-mega laser to kill the dragons.
The thumpers are designed to disrupt and redirect the flow of magic contained in the ley lines around Tyria. It is this magic she intends to use to power her mega laser.
Since elder dragons are intended to consume magic, they will be drawn to Scarlet like a moth to a flame.
The epic conclusion will result in 3 elder dragons appearing that we have not seen before! After an epic cut scene where we get to see them in all their glory, Scarlet will come down and nuke them with her new weapon, destroying them.
Reasoning: It fits the ArenaNet paradigm: create content with the potential to be excellent, only to completely destroy it with terrible implementation decisions.
Looking for more input. Duplicate questions are encouraged in this thread! It lets me know more people are interested in the answer.
Thanks!
Good questions so far. It’s shaping up. Keep them coming.
OP, you are correct.
However, the game does not facilitate large-scale coordination, making coordination difficult.
Walking is not difficult, but what if, in order to move forward in GW2 you needed to press 18 unique keys in a particular sequence? Would you say that walking was difficult or the coordination required to walk is difficult?
It’s simply disappointing that ANet wants to employ these large scale fights in the game without any of the tools that allow you to facilitate the coordination and execution of such a fight.
WRONG!!
Scarlet, what is best in life?
Please, I’d love to hear your solution to overflows.
Better down-scaling of encounters.
The OP is right. If people really don’t like the content, don’t participate. It’s the #1 way that ANET tells if we like something or not. They look at player participation.
I would have thought the #1 was of telling them we don’t like it would be, umm… telling them we don’t like it.
Really .. if you hate waiting 2 hours for pseudo-raids in an open world for the hardcore raider crowd .. just ignore it .. don’t even try it, else ANet again thinks its a “big successs” and weget even more of that stuff.
If you don’t like that stuff all we can do is to show them the numbers that only a minority of players enjoy that kind of stuff, and the only way to do that is to totally ignore that stuff.
Already did that with Teq2.0.
They made the Wurm. So that approach clearly does not work. What would probably work is a nice, scathing review on an MMO website or a magazine.
