Welcome to MMOs where you need to share the spotlight with 3 million other “heroes”.
Well, that’s both true and false.
It’s true in that, yes, 3 million other heroes will save the innocent villagers from the rampaging bears. No way around that.
But on the other hand, it’s called “Personal Story” for a reason. It’s supposed to be about you, focused on what you’re working towards, etc.
SWTOR’s personal story was an excellent example of this. It was about you and your allies/enemies and….well, your story. Not someone else’s story. Your story.
And yet if you want to have meaningful, world changing choices, you cannot have it for everyone in an MMO, as you can have in a single-player RPG.
I don’t mean switching Cutthroat Politics to another city. I mean the arcs beyond that. It wouldn’t be very hard to write the next arcs to be focused in another city.
All hints (data mined lines, the tent over the great collapse, the centaur-esque figure on the concept art of the next release etc) all point to Divinity’s Reach being the next focused on city.
Hooray
Crafting almost always yields less money than selling the ingredients. In the case of butter, I think this is almost universally true. Butter used to go for 2-3cp per piece. Be happy that you can get 20-50cp from it nowadays
Anyway, if you want to find out the most profitable way to use your butter, use gw2spidy. At this very moment, it looks like crafting Bowls of White Frosting from them would approximately double your profits compared to just selling the butter off.

And daily kill variety, although all ambients are counted as one type.
Even crabs?
Well I haven’t checked killing every ambient creature type there is when the Daily Kill Variety achievement is on, but at least most of them seem to fall under one type.
This dropped for me yesterday from Shadow Behemoth. Sold it, as I don’t do Necromancer
And daily kill variety, although all ambients are counted as one type.
Yeah it is supposed to do that. But Anet keeps adding achievements PvE players hunt for. Either they remove the WvW achievements from PvE living stories or create an extra type of living story for WvW.
Are you blind or just ignorant? Why do you repeat this “this is PvE story, PvE achi” mantra while indeed the achievement is clearly PvP.
Apparently this is a pvp achi in a pvp zone. It is clearly not PVE. What’s your problem?
You probably should have quoted the other guy. I don’t have the problem, he does.
Is there some bug going on?
Yeah. Lord Titan thinks his fixed damage numbers are worth anything.
FYI, he sets up these “amazing” shots with the enemy, shooting a naked, frenzying, upleveled, traitless enemy with all the boons and stuff he can theoretically stack.
These are not real combat situations.
Still so mad at someone setting up their own competition, like you can’t stand losing something you aren’t even a part of, and don’t have to care about.
What is going on around here.
I’m not mad. Just pointed out that it’s not a bug and no nerfs are needed for kill shot.

2 people killing each other alone would be pretty dumb, they would need to have ressers there to make it worth the trouble.
In any case any “fixed” fights vs. the enemy are exploits and should be reported.
You give up so much utility/power by choosing the snow leopard it’s not worth it unless you are just planning to run around (perhaps doing the WvW world completion or running to a JP).
Pray tell me what good would this elite skill do without the mobility?
What do you mean? Two parties continually killing each other in turns? I guess that should fall under exploit.
I could care less about the money aspect of it all, although it is salt in the wound…
…but running to a vendor after every death in WvW is pretty G.D. ANNOYING!!!
In fact there are more things in WvW that are annoying, than enjoyable. That’s not a healthy place for a mmo to be.
And why exactly do you need to run to a vendor after every death? An item being damaged has absolutely no effect on your ability to fight. Only after every item on you is damaged they start to get broken and only then they will affect your stats.
You can no longer place new buy orders below vendor price. They just haven’t cleaned up the ones that were placed before this restriction was implemented.
This all stems of course from one of the biggest problems of the TP and that is there is no time limit on either sell or buy orders.
Welcome to MMOs where you need to share the spotlight with 3 million other “heroes”.
Priorities, man. Leave your job, ditch your wife and kick out your children. Then you can dedicate yourself to GW2.
If you want to go really hardcore, there is always the s**tbucket option, too.

Probably because of ppl like you who farm the same 3 events. Come one and admit that you didn’t like the events themselves (after the 100th time you did them), but the loot and gold you got from them with minimal effort.
If you are losing money in WvW you are doing it wrong. Really wrong.
Meaning, you aren’t running in a Zergball.
If you buy upgrades, scout, small havoc, camp flips, make improved siege, you are losing gold anyway, and repair costs just add to it.
This attitude kills wvw, kills most individualism in game, kills addressing real issues.
One way or the highway does this game more harm than anything else, and it is really bad that it seems to be the semi official Anet policy as well.If you think money is the reason people run in the zergball you need to take a reality check.
Loot bags. Reality Check Accomplished. Most reward for least effort. Follow the dorito.
It may not be the “reason” they run in the ball, but it is the only way to gain coin while playing wvw.
Well you could also stay close to spawn and kill NPCs for the loot, but could get a bit boring after a while :P
Anyway, I didn’t say you didn’t make money running in a zergball, but I do claim that even if it didn’t bring any money people would still run in zergballs.
I don’t mean switching Cutthroat Politics to another city. I mean the arcs beyond that. It wouldn’t be very hard to write the next arcs to be focused in another city.
I know that you didn’t mean switching the current one.
But my point still stands: Switching focus for the sake of switching would just look bad.If the situations that arise are influencing Lions Arch it would be quite weird to have them taking place in DR or the Grove.
Sooner or later the story most likely will move towards other parts of the world, but that should come naturally, not being moved for the sake of moving.
We’ll see about that. I’m starting to be pretty sure that ANet wants to remove all the other cities from the map for good…
Someone needs to decide what WvW is first.
You have PvEers running aroung doing JPs and map completion, you have PvPers looking for fights and ignoring objectives, and you have people playing for points. Its like a 3 course meal was thrown in a blender and served as mush, nobody is happy with the current state of WvW….
If its a PvP zone then yes, repair costs need to go….along with the JPs and map completion.
Well you sort of answered your own question. WvW is all the things you described. PvE and PvP mashed together. This sort of “open world” PvP is quite common in MMORPGs. There is no need to define it as strictly PvE or PvP. We already have parts of the game dedicated to strictly PvE or PvP.
We need this Money Sinks to prevent the market from falling into inflation
Working really well, by the way…
Well if that is sarcasm, tell me how there is an inflation at the moment?
The reason for high or low prices are only drop rates, not the actuall value of gold.
Gold to Gem exchange ratio is a pretty good indicator of inflation, as the value of Gems versus real money is fixed and the availability of Gems is unlimited, thus scarcity does not affect it.
Sure, the inflation in GW2 is still in reasonable levels, but there is no denying gold is funneling into the game much faster than its being funneled out.
Oh by the way, I had to run a god kitten dungeon in the last Living Story to get achies. The horror!

But…love you as I do ANet…..I am not happy about putting what is a PvE achievement in a place like Obsidian Sanctum. I like JP’s, I like WvW, but I don’t like that fact a Bazaar achievement was put into a WvW JP. I think it was unnecessary to be honest.
Could you please quote a developer statement where they state that the OS achievement is a PvE achievement?
In my books, an achievement put into a PvP zone is a PvP achievement, whether or not you have to kill anyone doing it.
Jesus this is map completion whine all over again.
Don’t like some part of the game? Don’t cry that you can’t achieve everything. Simple as that.
I don’t mean switching Cutthroat Politics to another city. I mean the arcs beyond that. It wouldn’t be very hard to write the next arcs to be focused in another city.
Cutthroat Politics will be all about LA, again. I get that ANet wants to establish LA as the center of the world, but this creates a problem, where all the other capitals are empty as graveyards most of the time.
Which is a shame, because all of them are absolutely brilliant, especially Divinity’s Reach.
For the upcoming Living Story arcs, please rotate the spotlight from one city to another. Give the other cities their time to shine too!
We need this Money Sinks to prevent the market from falling into inflation

Roight… After you’ve done your Focus Weapon Master go on to do Shield.
- Whatever character you use, make sure and take revive orbs. If you die at least you don’t have to run all the way back.
Revive orbs don’t work in WvW.
If you are losing money in WvW you are doing it wrong. Really wrong.
This was my first thought when I equipped mine.
As long as we can’t access the TP over web (like in WoW), I’m not gonna waste my precious playtime fumbling with the TP But maybe that’s just me.
It’s more fun sending opponents off the ledges than killing them. Just saying
Why choose? Push them off a high enough ledge and collect loot.
Do as many daily boss events as possible to get rares, salvage them and sell ectos works as well.
On average, you net more by selling the rares as is, unless you have an endless free source of BL salvage kits. Just saying.
A jumping puzzle is man vs environment (with occasional man vs ai enemy)
throwing a Jumping Puzzle and making it a pvp area is one of the stupidest ideas I ever seen implemented. Infact it’s ANTI-fun.If you’re on a low populated server, the only possible way you can get this done is to go with a massive zerg of people and make sure everyone gets to each spot at the same time.
Your opinion is wrong. Obsidian Sanctum is possibly the most fun activity in the game. Second only to drinking the tears of the likes of you.
Very nice and helpful post, IWN. Too bad the complainers have already decided that ANet is in a conspiracy against them and will put more jumping with each update until the game resembles more Mirror’s Edge than anything.
They will only be happy when they enter the game and see all new “achievements” waiting them in their mailbox.
Would be a nice location for a new dungeon. IMO they should utilize the open world more with new dungeons, instead of putting them all into LA/Vicinity.
Stop it already. It is a PVP puzzle for a reason! Removing PvP from a PvP puzzle makes absolutely no sense!
Without those recipe sheets the charged quartz is completely useless.
Well, you could still sell them !
If we’re talking about the charged quartz then no, you can’t. It’s account bound.
Why anyone spends real life money for gems, I’ll never know. You may be supporting Anet, which in turn, allows them to put out more content, but more often than not, it’s content many people don’t want, poorly implemented (the amount of bugs is astonishing) and Anet still doesn’t seem to listen to it’s customers (the last patch was a step in the right direction, but still too little, too late).
Why anyone spends 2+ hours farming for gold when I can get the same amount by spending pocket change, I’ll never know. Maybe some people actually enjoy running CoF P1 over and over and over again. I don’t.
Everyone and their mother killed Zhaitan. Eir did it with every single one of them.
I found out checking the wiki for areas that don’t have any POIs/Hearts/Vistas/Skill points helped me to find the missing areas, as obviously the ones with any of the abovementioned I would have found while doing 100% world completion.
Just finished Maguuma Explorer myself yesterday.
Now, I dislike Jumping Puzzles, so I realise I am biased. I would love to see how many jumping puzzles would be actually completed if there were no Achievement Points attached to them. I think this would proove that most people do not like them.
I think you’re wrong.
I really don’t see how Arena.net can understand how Magic Find in its current state is against their game philosophy, and still keep jumping puzzles in their current form.
Oh, I don’t know, maybe to have challenges for people who like JPs?
We do exist. Shocking, I know.
Remove PvP from a PvP zone?
What?
Not to mention some of the dungeon armors actually look nice. The ascended armor might or might not.
Colins blog details that Legendaries will only not get their stats upgraded, but they will receive customizable and switchable stats, so that you will never have to transmute your legendary again.
That’s a first world problem if any.
