Not that anyone will ever read this but.
- Consent only open world PvP (voluntary flagging, dueling and guild wars)
- More RP tools (sheet music for instruments, sitting on chairs, leaning on walls, etc.)
- Graphics engine update to DX 11 or even 12
Give me these and I’ll spend 100 bucks on the gem store with a snap of my finger.
Well this is the lore forum. Overthinking things is what we do here
How did jungle grubs and undead grubs get there? Or is it just a symptom of Mordremoth’s and Zhaitan’s energies spreading through the world now that they’re dead? I would have understood if they were mixed with Jormag’s corruption, too.
A little bit too convenient to have them there for my taste, anyway.
Hey hey we paid 60 bucks for the original game and then 60 bucks again for the expansion, yet you have everything open we do. Stop complaining and enjoy the game. It’s well worth 60 bucks or more
Branded are also riled up. We have seen this in the Current Events.
Though we’ve been told that the Svanir and Icebrood have been becoming more active in the PS. In Flame and Frost. And in S2, E3.
Icebrood have been getting more and more riled up for the past four years now, if not longer.
I guess it makes sense. The longer the dragons are awake, the more active their minions become.
While it would be nice to be battling against two dragons at the same time, it would probably tax Anet’s resources too much.
All classes can deal massive damage with the right build. This usually comes with a drawback of being fragile.
If you’re looking for an easy to play class I would suggest Warrior, Guardian or Ranger.
Anyone else noted that in Eir’s funeral they said Jormag’s minions have been riled up more than usual, too. Could of course just be the after-effect of Mordremoth’s death, but wouldn’t it be sweet if we could be against TWO dragons at the same time next time.
I mean, we’ve already beaten two when we could go at the one by one. Maybe the dragons aren’t stupid and decide it’s time to snuff out the races before they come to them, too?
Will we ever have more content for roleplayers?
What did you have in mind?
Sitting on chairs, ledges ,etc.
Leaning on walls, etc.
Sleeping in beds or even on the floor
Drinking and eating with an animation
Ability to trade mundane, worthless items like letters and books we can write on
Roleplayer tag to make it more likely to end up in the same instance
Emote range reduced
Walk animations adjusted so that norn don’t look like they’re in a slow motion film
All quite small changes actually. I’m not asking for player housing or such, since I know it will never happen.
…how about some content for those who hate raids?
When is the next LS season starting?
Will we ever have more content for roleplayers?
Since legendary armor is going to hit the scene at some point, and likely sooner than later, ascended items will become essentially obsolete. The future is brighter than even I can imagine? As for dungeons as new stuff comes out old stuff can’t be maintained as much. Nerfing them to hell is equivalent to just outright abandoning them as a project and doing basic maintenance on them.
Why would ascended become obsolete? Has there been confirmation that the legendary armor would have better stats than ascended, or a new tier above ascended?
IMO i think Tybalt is liked alot becuse of the 3 he is less like the typical charr
(its almost like Sieran read the sylvari week blog herself xD)
That’s because she Wrote the sylvari week blog.
Tybalt was a comic relief and generally you don’t kill your comic relief, ever.
Tolkien didn’t kill Pippin.
Martin hasn’t killed Tyrion (yet).
Weiss&Hickman didn’t kill Tasslehoff.
And, as unfortunate as it is,
Lucas didn’t kill Jar Jar Binks
Everything the OP said and even the unspoken stuff OP wants.
Yeah I didn’t want to scare them by telling them how much their game actually lacks in the immersion/roleplaying department
Yeah I know I’m a bit late, but here’s my wishlist for GW2, hasn’t really changed much since launch, and I’m not asking much, so come one Anet
- Sitting in chairs
- Drinking/eating emote/animation
- Writable letters/books
- Ability to map notes on instruments across all available octaves
What’s your wishlist?
Oh look, it’s thread # 9994 about “mandatory” festival jumping puzzles.
You’re right, they’re not mandatory, but then nothing in the game is.
As long as you don’t want to play a game.
Maybe casuals and people with physical issues, or whatever, should just shut up and sit in DR, buying stuff from the gemstore and playing the harp?
Would that be acceptable?
If that’s all they’re capable, yes. That’s what they should do.
Or maybe we just hand everything to everyone at login. Or better, yet, email it to them so they don’t actually have to login into the game.
Would that be acceptable?
You haven’t missed anything. There’s no solid information of when the living world will resume, and whether it will include the next raid wing.
Time-wise, looking at late January, I guess.
Oh look, it’s thread # 9994 about “mandatory” festival jumping puzzles.
Buy lots of cheapie blue or green reclaimed items and salvage them in bulk.
Are they tradeable? I can’t find any on TP tracking sites like gw2spidy or gw2bltc
Buy a yellow or pray for RNG.
Or play sPvP.
Those are your choices. No other way around it.
I have a bit of mixed feelings about this. On the other hand I think it’s good that you can actually siege a keep and keep defenders from getting in there if you have all entries covered.
On the other hand this will probably lead in even more keep flipping than before. Objectives change hands too often (IMO) already.
But at least there’s an incentive to stop and ress defeated defenders now.
The sense of casual entitlement is strong in the OP
Heart of Thrones is like Game of Thrones, but with pink unicorns and nobody dies.
Heart of Thornes is the sequel to the Bold and the Beautiful.
They could have put the trolling even further and have one of the collections require the success of the same event.
That would have been fun. Two groups of players, trying to work against each other in bloody (yet non-combative) competition.
(Consensual) open world PvP confirmed!
Im glad there wasnt a party, why would there.
Because that’s what people do when they have defeated a dangerous enemy.
But u just killed ur most trusted friend
It’s a war and people die. Trahearne at least redeemed himself by sacrifice. It was either that or having to fight and kill him as a dragon minion.
Hmm when you put it like that, it does sound a tad more interesting. They all seem to have the same weakness though – arrogance. Instead of trying to manipulate the world into accepting their rule or wants (i.e. for example letting Zhaitan rule Orr), they give the finger to everyone and spur them to fight them until they either win or lose.
With two of them dead now you would think the remaining four would at least start to see the mortals races as a serious threat. We’ll see if they’ve learned anything from the mistakes of Zhaitan and Mordremoth, or will they continue being chaotic stupid and fight us with everything they got until either side is dead.
Of course they might come to a conclusion that they themselves are seen as such a threat that the mortal races would come after their heads whether or not they’d keep pushing their dominion any further than they’ve already established.
But do we actually know if the risen “kingdom” was meant to actually endure or was it just means to an end – which is Zhaitan consuming all possible magic from the world and at the process destroying pretty much all sentient beings.
After that would have been accomplished, what would have happened to the risen? Their master would go to sleep and they would all perish as Zhaitan’s power would no longer keep them running?
I guess I would just want to see some “human” villains for a change, be they actually human, centaur, asura, charr or w/e. Sure we have tons of minor villains but no major ones. Scarlet was obviously one, but we couldn’t really relate to her either.
I’m probably demanding too much from a PG rated video game, though
I also hope we get the afterparty and closure in a separate update, but it really, really should have been there right after we kill Mordy.
Only way to rectify this in my opinion is to have the closure to be the funeral of Eir, with emotions running from the loss of a dear friend and mentor, to the triumph of ridding the world of another Elder Dragon. Being a Norn funeral, there’s no problem mixing up the two in the same party.
So here’s hoping the next story patch brings tears of both loss and joy to our eyes.
You might want to put a spoiler warning into the thread titel or put that part into spoiler tags. From the titel people could assume that this is strictly about personal story and enter without caution, but it might spoil HoT story for them.
Good point. Originally when I made the thread I only talked about killing Mordy which I didn’t think would spoil much, but the part about Eir should be behind spoilers. Topic edited.
… which is pretty much why the Elder Dragons are such boring villains. They have no desires we can relate to. Destroying the entire world just because they want to consume its magic is a bit meh when it comes to the bad guys motives.
What? You can hold space to open the glider at the first possible opportunity after jumping? And NOW you tell me?
How many deaths could I have avoided if I knew that…
Now I only need to remember gliding doesn’t work in Central Tyria and my character won’t be falling to his/her death every 10 minutes.
Oh, and the pit in the center of Tarir is murder. Almost always the first time I jump down the game stops and stutters (probably loading the areas below), and the glider fails to open, making me plummet to my death.
Looks nice, I will admit. Fits within GW2 style of impractically detailed armors, too.
Im glad there wasnt a party, why would there.

Since they had changed the last story mission to be soloable a while back, I decided to finally get over to it and finish it with another character of mine.
Say what you will of the actual mission of killing Zhaitan, at least that mission had a good closure and afterparty (with the vocal version of Fear not the night playing in the end) with most of the Personal Story NPCs there celebrating with you. Sent shivers down my spine, really.
Compare that to the Mordremoth killing and… yeah.
Makes me think that either a) Anet had to rush the end of Mordremoth really badly or b) we haven’t seen the real end of Mordy yet.
And lets not even start the comparison between the forking Personal Story (with some 200+ individual missions combined) and the linear LW S2 + HoT. If not counting the horrible marionette shows, PS wins hands down.
I wouldn’t be complaining if Anet themselves didn’t think HoT was every bit as good as the original package we got (otherwise they wouldn’t be charging the same price, would they?). It’s not. Not even close.
I don’t often whine, but finishing the PS with another character just opened my eyes to the naked, sad truth again.
Here’s a twist: quaggans are the water dragon’s minions.
That would be funny, however the dragons minions cannot be corrupted by other dragons (that is why there are no risen Sylvari), however there are risen Quaggans.
And icebrood quaggans.
Well since launch we’ve got 10 new zones if you count in the Guild Halls. That’s not too shabby, although we could of course use some more.
I would think LS season 3 and 4 will add 1-2 new zones and after that the next expansion another 4-6 again.
I really hope you’re right with the gap between expansions. Even 2 years is risky when it comes to MMOs and their lasting appeal.
I still think if the game survives, we should get to fight and kill all the Elder Dragons. It’s only fair, given how much the world has suffered in the hands of their minions and lieutenants. It also gives the development team and the players the chance to explore four more unique and diverse blighted ecosystems (underwater, arctic, underground and desert).
And given that Anet has no trouble having the world still filled with risen even if Zhaitan is canonically dead, I see no problem having all EDs dead and the world still filled with their minions. Would obviously be cool if they would employ their megaserver technology to give us several versions of the maps, depending on where our character is currently story-wise, but I don’t see them putting resources in completely rebuilding the old maps. At least not at this point.
Actually, they might of course do a “revamp” style expansion some few years from now where they redo a lot of the old areas, especially those strongly connected to Zhaitan and the risen. A bit like WoW did with Cataclysm.
And yes, going after DSD next seems pretty certain with the hints we’ve been given. The expansion would also be a good opportunity to revamp underwater combat.

Probably won’t happen, but there are a couple of armor skins for each weight that show a lot of skin, both sexes.
Step “follow taimi to the draw of ley energy”, just before entering the tunnel into the lab, Taimi gets stuck if she is interrupted by the sentry golem. She joins the fight, then runs back to the spot and stays there no matter what. Did that twice in the row.
Workaround is to destroy the golem before this step, but would be nice to get it fixed.
Would be fun to combo that with defiant stance.
Excellent point. Thanks!
The basic equation works: make content hard to get > cause frustration > get the user to pay real money = acquire content easily = no frustration.
You pretty much described the business model of about all Free to Play games, yes. GW2 being a “buy to play” game suffers less of this syndrome and I would hazard to say you can very well play GW2 without ever buying anything from the Gem Store and still not feel frustrated.
But obviously Arenanet cannot support and develop the game on box sales only, so they will need to have some incentive for people to spend more money than just the box. In my opinion, they have found a very good balance between giving enough stuff “free” with the box purchase, and still having enticing offers on the TP which still don’t break the balance of the game against those who do not spend real money on the Gem Store.
The only “more fair” system would be a pay-per-month system with no cash shop at all, but those just don’t work for a larger audience today.
I hope they will not do a expansion for every elder dragon in the game. That is gonna take so long.
About what happens if the magic runs wild well obvious answer we are gonna use it or better said drain it ourselves by making magic a common place and be used by every being on Tyria.
Like they did on Orr? That ended up so well…
So you seeing a scenario where the players actually would lose the war eventually and what… the game would close forever?
At the speed we kill them yeah we get burned out especially if another elder dragon appears besides then one we know.
So 3 years since launch we killed the second dragon. With that timing, it would take 12 more years to kill the remaining 4.
I’m more worried the game will be dead before we even get to the last dragon.
I agree with the OP – time gated crafting is unreasonable. Why should I wait if I already have all the ingredients? Nonsense.
Wanze already presented a way to skip the time gate, with money.
There are other time gates in the game, too, like Ascended crafting.
I recall there was a time when any in-game purchases for real currencies were banned by law as form of gambling. No virtual item should be sold for real money.
What happened?
1. There was no such time. You’re imagining things. Buying virtual items for real money is perfectly legal.
2. I meant in-game money, as in gold.

But yeah, it’s time gated with no workaround.
1. Buy t&t bags or wintersday gifts
2. Open
3. Sell everything you get except charged quartz crystals
4. Craft celestial set
slaps forehead
Totally forgot those. Thanks for correcting me, Wanze.
So you seeing a scenario where the players actually would lose the war eventually and what… the game would close forever?
You can some times get a charged quartz crystal as a drop from home instance crystal formation node. If you don’t have one yourself, ask to party with a guild member or a friend who does and harvest theirs.
In my experience it’s something like 5-10% chance per harvest, so you should get 1 extra crystal every 4-5 days on average. No idea if banner or guild boons boost that chance.
But yeah, it’s time gated with no workaround.
