Ranger in WvW after balance patch

It takes as long for a Ranger to activate their 3rd downed skill as it does any other class. And pet revives are not instantaneous. So far as I know the only instant revive (can be traited for 100% success as well) is Warrior Vengeance.

Vengeance is not a revive, it’s a temporary buff/debuff that kills you when it runs out. You can remove it by killing (not just downing) an opponent, and this is what can be traited to 100%.

You still need to kill something to rally completely, so if there are no mobs or NPCs around a smart player will just kite you until Vengeance runs out.

In zerg fights you are pretty much 100% guaranteed to gain a full revive from Vengeance as long as your side is killing a significant amount of players, and you’ve at least tagged some of them. Even WH 5 will count as a tag because it inflicts weakness.

True, but I can count the times I’ve been using Vengeance in zerg fights with the fingers in one hand. If you get downed in the enemy zerg you’re dead long before you can activate it. If you get downed in your own zerg you’ll be revived long before you’d need to activate it.

I still have a way better track record with my warrior in WvW than I do with any of my other characters. Could obviously have something to do with the fact that I’ve got a lot more hours on my warrior than the other classes.

To me, warrior gameplay just feels right. I play a roaming build (switching to a more supportive build if run with the stack in a zerg, of course) which has a very good damage output and great survivability mainly due to a superior mobility. Being able to disengage any time the fight turns into 1v2+ or when you’re caught at a bad moment is priceless in WvW. Even mobility thieves and FGS eles are left eating dust when a mobility warrior sprints off into the horizon.

EoTM is the future of WvW

I’d like to add that yesterday I again witnessed a commander unwilling to engage the enemy in EotM, which made me sick and go back to “real” WvW.

I restate that there are things in EotM I love, like the objectives within outer walls of the keeps, the multi-level design of the central area, and the multiple small pathways all around that concentrate the action on a small area.

The thing that ruins it is the megaserver system, which puts you playing with complete strangers, sometimes people like the PvD commander I met yesterday. Combined with the fact that there are a lot of lucrative objectives that can be taken by just smashing one wall, cashing in a lot of rewards without fighting a single enemy player, is what makes EotM the karma train it is today.

So assuming that the new WvW map will not be megaserver, and that Anet will try to balance the rewards between capping and defending objectives, I could see the new map being extremely interesting to play on. To the point that I expect massive queues there after launch.

Being able to break through the walls is due to no one defending in EoTM, that is not the case for wvw. You can expect there to be superior trebs, Super acs and sup balis blocking roamers on choke points in actual wvw. Hell in one supply camp as it is here TC had 2 trebs, 4-6 balis and like a dozen ACs.. Lets see roamers get through that. LOL

The issue with how the landscape will be in wvw is that players will actually be fighting there and not just K training there, fearing and knock backs people off treacherous heights in mass instead, as it is we have people that just camp in known spots in wvw knocking people off cliffs to troll them.

In wvw they have scouts, they do not have scouts in EoTM, as it is very little movement goes undetected if players are actually playing the game. In wvw scouts are on Team speak and call the zerg the second they see something coming and they respond accordingly. I do not think this is very well thought out.

Yes, there is an indication they will merg servers :
1) they already have done so with PVE mega server
2) they have been testing out merged servers in EotM already. They have not yet tested any other ideas except this to deal with population issues.

Yes, people would mind if they changed OS into one, OS is constantly que’d as it is due to GvG taking place in there currently.

We don’t know how wide the walls will be for the “chokepoints”. They might be wide enough that sieging them fully is not a very supply-effective solution. The wider walls might also be unreinforcable (so only the walls around the tower/keep itself can be reinforced). I think you’re jumping the gun here. I’ll reserve judgement to when I can check out the map myself.

I already agreed with you there are too many gaps and cliffs with unlimited drops in EotM. Hopefully the new map will have less. Terrain should still play a part in the strategy, and knockbacks/launches should have a possibility of killing careless players.

Two different approaches around the landscape, with no line of sight between them, still mean twice the amount of scouts needed, which means twice the opportunity to slip through when a realm goes sloppy on the scouting.

Making the new WvW map (or the old ones) a megaserver would completely destroy the WvW scene and I think Anet know that. Let’s pray I’m right and your fears are unfounded.

GvG could still be arranged in OS even if it was turned into a megaserver. In fact, guilds wouldn’t have to worry about not being able to get all their members on the instance as they could just all hop onto one that has space.

Dragon Ball is my favorite Activity

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tom Gore.4035

Tom Gore.4035

I dislike this activity for several particular reasons described in another post:

As a gamer who moved to GW2 after multiple Unreal Tournament incarnations, I find Dragon Ball highly frustrating to play.

  • Awful camera work – zooming in and out in cramped tunnels, randomly snapping to bridges.
  • No double jump.
  • No wall dodge.
  • Targeting.

I do understand why GW2 sticks to the usual concept of movement – developing more complicated movements for a single temporary PvP activity makes little sense, and teaching players to use those is no easy task.

Targeting is also a global game concept and yes, one can disable targeting at all, but the skills are designed with targeting in mind – however the recent changes to nearest enemy made targeting even worse than before, doubly so for such a dynamic fast-paced FPS-like game.

But my biggest gripe is camera. Okay, I’ll try using my asura, but… but that just shouldn’t work like it does. I cannot see what hits me or from where, I cannot properly aim because the camera goes back and forth.

So please, ANet: before you come up with something like this again, can we pleeease rework the camera and think of some kind of first person view or at least a no-character view and no-camera-snapping mechanics? Yes, I know it has problems of 1) people investing less in looks and 2) game looking not that good when zoomed in and 3) people performing poorly because they can’t see AoE markers designed for zoomed out camera and 4) those people demanding rework of the current combat tells, but many have asked for it for very valid reasons.

It’s kind of like Unreal Tournament and such, but with less twitch required.

It’s kind of like Unreal Tournament, but with legs chopped off.

Well this is a casual MMO so the skill cap has been tuned low. You can’t expect super-twitch gameplay in a game like this, because the skill difference would be… well like in Unreal Tournament where one skilled player could dominate a full team of unskilled players. While that might sound cool to the “pros”, it would cause so much outrage in the less skilled players Anet just doesn’t want to risk it.

The skill cap in Dragon Ball is still much higher than any PvE stuff in the game. Too bad you cannot play as a team where you could also bring strategy concerning the powerup control into play.

But yeah I can definitely understand your frustration with MMO PvP if UT is where you come from. Being forcibly toned down by the game so that baddies can have fun too is just the way these games are designed.

I am actually looking forward to the objectives blocking chokepoints they’ve already mentioned will be in the new WvW map. I’m also aware of the consequences that has for roaming, but let’s be honest – have you ever had trouble getting through the outer keep walls in EotM if you wanted to go through them? All you need is one catapult, which can be built by 1-2 persons relatively quickly.

I do agree with you that EotM has a bit too much hazardous falls, but otherwise I absolutely love the map design. I’m sure you have noticed that you can move through most of the central map in two levels, giving alternate routes for groups who want to avoid detection by enemy forces. The two-tiered keep walls with objectives within the outer walls is also a brilliant mechanic which I’d love to see on the new WvW map.

And the last part is just no-no for “serious” WvW. Fortunately, there is no indication Anet is going to force megaservers on the new WvW map or “old” WvW maps. I wouldn’t worry about it. EotM is the overflow and will remain as such. There is no need for additional overflow maps, although I don’t think people would mind if OS was changed into one.

I like your idea, however we’d need a mechanic similar to the milestones in the SW-jumpingpuzzle to prevent parking or porting characters.

The milestone mechanic could indeed work. Let’s hope they will consider this for the JPs they introduce in HoT. I know a lot people will be angry because they cannot port/be ported to finish the JP, but I don’t know why that would be allowed in the first place. JPs are meant to be a challenge and they are completely optional.

Pewp-Pewp not Pew-Pew

Rangers need toning down in WvW they are ridiculous.
Ridiculous regen with troll urgent
1200 lazer of death. Get close? get knocked back start again.
Passive evasion by spamming attack skills on sword dagger.
Fear, kD on pets.
Unrivaled revive potential from pets in down state.

Each class has risk reward kind of balance where Ranger is just reward with no risk at the moment.

They are just over the top. Either buff all other professions or nerf ranger.

Pet revive is strong indeed, but you forget one thing. If you go down as a ranger, chances are about 99% of the time your pet is already down too.
And the rest was described fine by the person above me.

Yeah but the ranger can swap pets while downed. And use their F2 skill, too.

Anyhow, Ranger downstate is only a problem underwater. Good luck trying to finish a ranger underwater when he’s got a bear pet.

they fixed the underwater super invuln revive. Pets can now be CC’d, killed and thus stopped from healing underwater.

Nope. Still witnessed this happening. Downed a ranger underwater, killed his first pet, stopping his res. He swapped and activated it again, this time even when I killed the pet he still kept reviving as long as he stayed stationary.

I can second almost all that has been said. Friendly community, very relaxed public zergs, community TS and good fights every night at prime time.

Also can second that our coverage is pretty bad at the moment, so if you play outside prime time you might have problems finding groups to play with. On the other hand, roaming with 1-5 people is viable, so you can do some good even without a commander.

This week looks very tight matchup-wise and because of that we can see very good activity on prime time, even having twin-queues from time to time.

There are many reliable ways to farm cloth. They are just very different from the ways you farm ores, lumber, and plants.

Many of those ways aren’t able to be quickly targeted though, which is what annoys many farmers.

Using buy orders to salvage requires you to wait. Buying karma armor and forging it requires karma. Running Silverwastes nets you a wide range of materials as well. Killing level-appropriate mobs for armor drops takes time.

I can appreciate the desire for quickly targeting farming, but I can also understand why they aren’t going to add that now. The methods in game right now allow us to achieve the farming result everyone is looking for, they just require you to go above and beyond normal “run to the node and wait” gameplay.

All methods you presented can also be used to “farm” other baisc crafting materials like metal and wood. They’re not farming, they’re kludges to get around the fact that you cannot reliably farm cloth.

Just to loosen your fixation on reliably farming cloth:

Leather cant be farmed reliably as well, yet its mostly worthless. So the fact that cloth isnt reliably farmable cant be the reason why Bolt of Damask is so expensive. Its expensive because its demand is higher.

That’s a fair point, yes. Still, as shown before, the demand of iron is as high or even higher than linen, and yet iron has not become ridiculously expensive because it is reliably farmable.

Introducing such reliable farming method for cloth would inevitably lower their prices. I’m sure you would agree to that at least?

@Tom Gore would you say the JPs in the higher level areas give more fragments?

Also can’t precursors drop from JPs? Is it the same for all of them?

Fragment drop amount is not dependant on the area of the level. For example, the three JPs in Caledon forest all give the highest possible amount of fragments. Precursors can drop from any loot drop that drops weapons. There is no difference where it drops from, but obviously low level areas drop lvl 80 weapons less often.

Certain JPs give more Empyreal Fragments than others. Other than that, the reward is the same for all JPs.

Square Enix have this awesome strategy against player who break rule and violate policy; jail. It was a in game jail where the player would be sent for a short period;depend on severe violation until time expire. I never was send there but many player i know went there and were not happy. The in game jail area was very big to fit other violate player together with them.

I think that is another suggestion for arena net; to create a jail area in the game for player who violate rule and violate policy.

If it take 1 day to-forever for player to learn violate rule and violate policy is not ok and to know that arena net is serious about set rule and policy, than let them experience it to maximum.

Now this is something that could work and actually be even worse punishment than banning, because it would combine not being able to play (grief) with being publicly shamed. The added fear from actually seeing people being sent to jail could deter offenders from committing the offense in the first place.

At the moment, the bans are effective against the griefers themselves, but it does nothing to deter would-be-griefers from starting their “career”.

I always found the hardest/annoying part against thieves (and somewhat mesmers) is the constant auto-detargetting.

It’s not so bad against thieves, because you can just retarget with a single tab. Against mesmers you will need to wait until the real mesmer destealths, at which point a single tab will again select the real mesmer. If you press tab while the mesmer is stealthed you’ll target a clone and any subsequent tabs will just cycle through them.

Anyway, a D/D ele doesn’t really need a target to deal damage.

There just need to be a way to find out if the report was fair or not It either need someone to check it..or a completly different system….that forexample it activate automaticly when someone get 10 or 15 times reported (by different people) and if it was proven that 10-15 player tried to make that on someone..they get the punishment instead….so people think twice before supporting someone to abuse this thing…..and if there r less reports..it goes how it goes….its checked and the gms do something

So in essence nothing changes in relation to Anet needing more resources for monitoring and moderating reports?

If they need to check each report anyway, why would we need such a flagging system, when Anet can just ban them for a set period and then permanently if they continue their offense?

While talking to u guys i got many ideas

I think haveing a system which makes people carry consequences i ther actions will be good…but one which will not allow people to abuse it and report people they dont like that these get a punishment.

Forexample…when someone get reported bcs of verbal abuse..he get a small sign next to his name..or his name color change a bit…the more reports he have..the more the sign get stronger …so the community can see he did something wrong and he might try to become better and take care of his behavour…..for sure people who did nothing but get reported need to be considered…so that sign dissapear after 1 week

This has been suggested earlier, but it would be too easy to abuse. A bunch of griefers could flag a perfect gentleman as a griefer, while the perfect gentleman could do nothing about it.

but that’s quickly offset by warriors who will be running with 6+ weapons and heavy armor.

Do the math again?

Which Warrior runs 6+ Ascended Weapons?

Um… Pretty much all of them? I have for my warrior all ascended weapons except the warhorn.

Ascended weapons are far more “worth it” than armor, because they come with a higher base damage than exotic, making the damage increase from upgrading your weapon alone by about 10%.

In contrast, by upgrading only your full set of armor you increase your stats by a mere 5%, while spending ginormous amounts of money compared to just upgrading your weapon set.

Of course weapons are more worth it than armor. That doesn’t mean you need every single weapon in Ascended quality, some weapons are just used for utility, or are completely useless based on which content you are doing, how can those be worth crafting as Ascended?

As I said I haven’t upgraded my warrior’s warhorn, because it would not be worth it. I only upgraded my shield because of the looks (although I won’t complain about the 6% damage increase for shield bashes, either). Almost all other weapons are putting our raw damage and there the upgrade makes sense much more than upgrading my armor.

But maybe we’re coming to the real reason why linen is so expensive? People think upgrading their armor is actually worth the huge investment and neglect their weapon upgrades.

Especially for armor items like gloves and shoulders the difference is like what… 8 stat points total per piece?

I corrected my math, but yours was and IS still off.

8 × 90 = 270? Is your calculator broken?

Probably a typical mistake (720 => 270). Anyway, iron ingot still requires 3 ores, yet it is so much cheaper because the supply is much higher. Linen/cotton scraps are relatively hard to come by, especially as a higher level character.

I already corrected it ^^

But anyway the point still stands, if you take 9 players, one of each profession, and want to have them all with full Ascended armor, you will need 10320 Linen Scraps compared to only 2880 Iron Ore. Then it’s a matter of how many Ascended weapons you’d need

As I said one would be absolutely nuts to make 9 sets of ascended armor and only 9 weapons at the same time. Your calculation has no basis in reality.

Yet iron still costs way less than linen, because it’s reliably farmable from (rich) iron nodes.

And one more thing. The maximum amount of Deldrimor Steel needed for an item is 8. That’s for items that require only Deldrimor Steel for their components, like a Dagger.

You need 90 Iron Ore to craft one Deldrimor Steel Ingot, so we have a total of 270 Iron Ore for the most demanding (in Iron Ore) Weapon in the game.

You need 16 Deldrimor Steel Ingots for a full set of Heavy armor, that’s 1440 Iron Ore

For Medium and Heavy Armor you need 7 + 6*3 = 25 Bolts of Damask, you need 40 Linen scraps per Bolt, that’s 1000 Linen Scraps

So EVERYONE in the game needs a minimum of 1000 Linen scraps while only 2/9 of the professions, that’s 22% require 1440 Iron Ore PLUS that Linen too. The difference in Linen and Iron Ore requirements is staggering.

Light Armor requires a total of 18 + 6*3 = 36 Bolts of Damask! That’s 1440 Linen Scraps!

If you take 9 players, one of each profession, and want to have them all with full Ascended, you will need 10320 Linen Scraps compared to 2880 Iron Ore, even if you add the 270 weapon requirement, it still does mean that you need more than TRIPLE the amount of Linen Scraps compared to Iron Ore. 10320 compared to 3150, or 30%.

Even there was a harvest node for Linen, like the Iron nodes, still Linen would have ~triple the price of Iron Ore.

Linen Scrap: Buy: 4s 70c Sell: 5s 14c
Iron Ore: Buy: 1s 15c Sell: 1s 31c

Multiply Iron Ore prices by 3.2 (the difference in Linen needed over Iron needed) and you get pretty close prices in Buy orders.

So to answer your question, why Iron Ore is cheaper than Linen Scrap, the answer is simple, you need THREE times more Linen than Iron Ore!

The numbers don’t lie

Your numbers do lie, because you made an error. Every weapon requires at least 270 iron ore, while the dagger requires 2160 iron ore. Let’s say on average a weapon would require only 5 deldrimor ingots, it still amounts to 1350 ingots.

Granted, most professions can get away with only a few weapons. An engineer never really needs more than 3, but even an engineer with a rifle, pistol and shield needs 3510 iron ore to craft just those three weapons. In contrast, he needs only 1000 linen scraps. A light armor caster (not talking about mesmers, because they use a lot of metal in the weapons, too) can get away with just 270 iron ore per weapon they carry, but that’s quickly offset by warriors who will be running with 6+ weapons and heavy armor.

Do the math again?

A Dagger requires:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deldrimor_Steel_Dagger_Blade (3 Deldrimor Steel Ingots)

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deldrimor_Steel_Dagger_Hilt (2 Deldrimor Steel Ingots)

And

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deldrimor_Steel_Plated_Dowel (3 Deldrimor Steel Ingots)

This is the recipe for Deldrimor Steel Ingot:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deldrimor_Steel_Ingot

Requires 20 Iron Ingots and 10 Steel Ingots, each one requires 3 Iron Ore
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Iron_Ingot
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Steel_Ingot

So, 20*3 + 10*3 = 90 Iron Ore. So 90 Iron Ore per Deldrimor Steel Ingot. The Dagger needs 8 Deldrimor Steel ingots which leads us to a total of 8*90 = 270 Iron Ore for the most expensive (in Iron Ore) Weapon in the game.

Where do you get that the dagger needs 2160 Iron Ore because the wiki says otherwise.

I corrected my math, but yours was and IS still off.

8 × 90 = 270? Is your calculator broken?

Will Bolts of Damask ever drop in price?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Every weapon requires at least 270 iron ore, while the dagger requires 720 iron ore. Let’s say on average a weapon would require only 5 deldrimor ingots, it still amounts to 450 ingots.

Granted, most professions can get away with only a few weapons. An engineer never really needs more than 3, but even an engineer with a rifle, pistol and shield needs 1710 iron ore to craft just those three weapons.

2/12/2015 WvW report on Unbalanced Match-ups

in WvW

Tom Gore.4035

Make the best personal rewards in WvW come from killing enemy players, not capturing objectives.

perhaps you are new to WvW, but killing enemy player is not, nor has every been, the actual object of the game mode.

WvW is PvP, if you like WvE you can go EoTM.

Capturing objective should be the least rewarded thing in WvW, defending and killing other players should be far more rewarding.

Remind us again, How do you win a match up?

Sounds like you’re trying to prove my point, but I’m sure you were trying to discredit it.

Or are you really saying that PvD off-hours is “the way it’s meant to be played”?

I might be “new” to WvW with only a few hundred hours, but you sound like a night capper.

EDIT: Never mind. Read some more of your replies and whaddya know? You are a night capper. Well I can certainly understand your point of view now, but you’re still wrong about how WvW should be played out.

Suggestion: add Airships

in WvW

Tom Gore.4035

Also keep in mind GW2 does not support moving platforms, so your images of people standing on a deck of a moving airship ain’t gonna happen without a major overhaul to the game engine.

“Victory or Death” had moving airships, right?

Nope. Just an illusion of movement while the ship was stationary the whole time. The engine just doesn’t support it. Sure you can see other airships moving, but those are not solid, they’re just props with no platforms to stand on.

Think about it for a second and you realize it’s a sad fact. Technology is everywhere in GW2 yet we have zero elevators, escalators or belt conveyors. Why? Because they would not work.

There is an elevator in Camp Resolve. Try to get into it when the door opens? Nope. Try to jump on it? Nope, it’s blocked for the whole height.

What about windmill blades? Surely you can jump on them? Nope, they don’t have a collision box at all.

GW2 does not support moving platforms. Plain and simple.

Ranger in WvW after balance patch

Good luck trying to finish a ranger underwater when he’s got a bear pet.

moony, it’s called anonymity.

Allow people to hide behind an alias and you will get this crap, because whether or not you want to believe it, some people are kittens by nature but the consequences in real life keep them in check. Give these people anonymity and you get what you can see in PvP chat.

The only way to cull this kind of behaviour would be either to moderate it with harsh measures, or force people to use their real names. We know the latter isn’t going to happen, and the former requires added resources. Neither is likely to happen anytime soon.

As said, the best you can do is to report & block. Trying to make them “see their errors” or chastising them won’t work. Trust me. I’ve been surfing in the anonymous Internet for 20 years now.

Bag/bank space should cost gold, not gems

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tom Gore.4035

Alright, so lets say that bag and bank-space starts costing gold instead of gems:

What should ArenaNet add to the store in order to counter the losses from no longer selling bank and bag space?

You’re trying to reason with people who wanted everything free, remember?

Not only people wanted everything for free, also people that consider buying expensive skin with credit card is a “win”.

Yeah.

Personally, I find GW2’s gemstore and gem purchases incredibly fairly priced, most of them anyway. The game certainly doesn’t push me to purchase anything from the gem store and it sure as heck doesn’t require it as some here seem to put it.

But then again, I don’t have a problem spending 10-20€ every now and then towards a hobby I like. I don’t really understand who anyone would. They are bound to spend that money into something else that’s completely optional, so it’s just a matter of choice.

Maddoctor, if Linen and Wool are so easy to get, tell me why they cost way more than Iron, for example?

The numbers don’t lie. There is no reliable way to farm linen and wool. Karma forging and salvaging is both tedious and has a very poor return for the amounts of Karma you spend. Sure, you could argue there aren’t too many uses for Karma currently, as Obsidian shards are dropping more, but that doesn’t change the fact that the return is poor for how long it takes to get the karma.

Will Bolts of Damask ever drop in price?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tom Gore.4035

When everyone has ascended armour sure.

The problem is when that happens, the price drop for Damask caused by less demand will be offset by less people farming cloth because it’s high in price at the moment.

Damask will only drop in price if Anet gave us a mean to reliably harvest cloth, like we can harvest wood and metal. For example being able to harvest flax, cotton, etc. from the ground and then craft it to bolts (because crafting into scraps makes no sense).

I am guaranteed silk from armour, can’t see what benefit those nodes would be.

And you’re guaranteed to get cloth armor drops every time you kill X monster?

That’s what I meant with “reliable”. Hoping for a cloth armor drop is not reliable. And it gets even worse when farming materials below your character level.

Over a days play yes I am absolutely guaranteed cloth drops.

You still don’t understand what “reliable” means, do you? Yeah, everything averages out in long term, but that’s not “reliable”.

Let’s say I want to farm 100 iron? I harvest the rich iron nodes for 50-60 and then normal nodes for the rest (at 3-4 per node). That takes me less than 30 minutes if I’m quick.

Let’s say I want to farm 100 silk? I kill mobs for thirty minutes and if I’m really, really lucky I have those 100 silk scraps. If not, I might have as little as 20.

Do I need to explain this further? Anything that is based on random drops is by definition not reliable.

Gl with your fixation.

Gl with your stubbornness and/or ignorance.

10 bucks at the moment is about 66 gold.

You should try stopping the 30+ enemy zerg with just a couple of necros and ACs. It’s priceless

It will barely work against really big zerg since they got airship strike and disablers and can afford building counter ac, so you need people to keep them busy while they melt. Nerco fear works in few spots and easily countered by stab and aegis, not to mention pro eotm sfr roamers which won’t let you stand at one spot for long.

Ever met green commander who won’t let you do anything on the map like he get precursor from every kill? When you get to play outnumbered side you have to give a fight sometimes cause otherwise you will get rekt again and again.

Fair enough. In my experience most zergs just swap targets though after you’ve wiped their first assault. Especially effective if the zerg is coming via the bridge to the towers.
