Also worth to note that in the burn phase you can range the dragon from outside the fire ring and be 100% safe.
Sure. It will probably be a gemstore item that costs 20000 gems.
Underwater combat overhaul confirmed
With former pact airships converted as submarine mounts CONFIRMED!
Yes, but the fear AoE is in the same camp. For every second the mob is feared, it’s not attacking. In a pinch, this can make all the difference. Even in PvE.
Besides, if rangers want the pet, they want the pet. Trying to quantify trolling, and I’m not saying you are, is no reason to give such negative responses.
Every second the mob is dead it’s not attacking. You can argue about CC being useful in PvE all you want, but the fact is that it’s almost always more beneficial to just kill the mob faster. The AoE fear also triggers way too slowly to be used as a reliable interrupt.
Your second paragraph is a fair point, but in this case the OP specifically said he wants it for PvE purposes, so any collection or aesthetic reasons are ones you’ve invented yourself for this thread.
Sad to say but the first reply to this thread pretty much said it all.
I think the connection is in other MMOs you need certain gear to do a certain thing. With this game you need a certain mastery to do a certain thing. gear grind in other games=mastery grind in this game.
Now, I am in no way insinuating that the actual grind time in GW2 will be anywhere near as long or frustrating as in other games. I am totally not. THis game is a blast, but it’s for sure there. If you want to get to certain things you will have to get mastery points to access them.
At least by the sound of it this gate is not bound by RNG like gear gates usually are. You can also choose in which order to unlock the masteries, which is again a nice way to keep the “play how you want” principle alive.
Oh if it only was a combat tonic.
I was going to make a suggestion, but then I read your signature. Sounds like you just wanted to complain.
what’ s wrong if we complain about a game we purchased with our money?
You’re complaining just for the sake of complaining without any valid arguments. That’s what’s wrong.
Yeah. Sorry can you tell us why do you think the juvenile wolf is even remotely useful in PvE?
And you could just get the Drakehound which is pretty much identical, without setting foot in WvW.
The hammer in general is not designed as a PvE weapon in the game. At least not currently – the HoT specializations might change that. The warrior is facing the exact same problems as you are. Hammer is a CC weapon and thus only really useful in a handful of PvE encounters, while very useful in most PvP encounters. I know the Hammer has rekindled my will to PvP with my guardian. Trapping squishy enemies within the circle is extremely satisfying.
Buying gems with real money mmm
I play ranger and it’ s a totally broken class compared to other classes.
when they fix ranger and bring joy among ranger community..
I’m sure I
will be the first cash shopper in this game. But till then…I won’ t spend a cent
What? You must be talking about dungeons, because Ranger is currently in a quite nice position in WvW and even PvP (not top tier perhaps, but that can be said about 3-4 of the other classes, too). And even for dungeons, Rangers can do just fine. They’re not the meta, but the meta consists of 3 classes at the moment, and to be honest no matter what they do the meta would still consist of 3 classes, the classes might just change.
So what exactly is your gripe with the Ranger class currently? I know I’m enjoying playing mine immensely.
You judge your skill level by fighting me. If you win your class is OP and needs nerfed. If I win you’re just bad and need to learn how to play because your build obviously counters mine. Good luck!
Pvp in a nutshell.
This thread makes me again wish we could block/ignore players on the forum, too.
Yeah buying RNG keys and worrying about the bundle being inconveniently priced… You’ve got your priorities mixed
How is that 300 extra gems “useless”?
Also, you could buy a 2000 gem card and purchase the remaining 100 gems with gold (approximately 15 gold).
I just hope there will be some skill involved, and a real risk of crashing/falling if you don’t get the hang of it. It will be enormously boring if you can just fly full speed into a tree and bounce off or stop harmlessly.
(Get it? Hang of it, hang gliders, kekekek)
Didn’t read all the posts, but I still think WvW does not need more rewards. Maybe better drops from killed players, but that’s it.
I don’t want WvW to be turned into an irreversible EoTM karma/loot train. We already got EoTM for those who want rewards and not PvP fights.
That said, I would want to look into ways of making defending more rewarding, but by what we’ve heard from Anet about HoT and the new BL map, that’s the way they want to take WvW too.
I was once so proud when I got my Gift of Battle. Truly when I wield my legendary one day, people will know I’ve killed hundreds or thousands of enemy players.
Yeah… well that didn’t work out so well in the end.
Wow. Your sample size is so big it must be a bug, right?
I’d be okay with 3 new maps the size of the launch maps (regardless of depth) or bigger. I would not be okay with 3 maps the size of dry top.
What about 3 maps the size of Dry top, but each with three layers, such as you can see in Silverwastes with the enormous underground caverns underneath and a whole another level up in the canopy? I could live with that.
Continuously holding down your RMB is a bad habit anyway, as it prevents you from using About Face and your skills won’t autoturn you towards the target before firing, either. Sure, with grenades it isn’t so bad because they’re all ground targeted, but with anything that is not ground targeted, holding down RMB hurts more than it helps.
Anyway, fast ground targeting should solve your problem, as suggested above.
I expect the cross-section of each map to be small, about the size of the Silverwastes/Dry Top. But as seen on the trailers they are immensely 3D. The use of Z-axis makes me sorry for people who get vertigo in games.
I feel bad for people who get vertigo in games.
I’m 99% sure they will NOT lock players out of the guild halls if they don’t have the expansion. I’m also quite sure they WILL lock players from buying and upgrading guild halls without the expansion.
So you’ll only really need the expansion for guild halls if you intend to build or upgrade one yourself.
Sylvari male… Ugh.
I would suggest you combine sPvP, EoTM, exploring, crafting and dailies to level. That way you won’t be utterly fed up with any one part of the game when you’re level 80.
Also, do consider that rushing to 80 is not worth it, because it doesn’t magically open up tons of content for you. Take your time and savor the journey.
Oh and also worth to note that in EoTM there is a high chance you’ll encounter fully leveled and geared lvl 80 characters who will steamroll your upleveled zerg. Don’t sweat over it. There is no monetary loss in dying, so just WP and get back to the saddle.
This can be soloed, although it might take a few tries.
My biggest tip to you:
The sand walls are composed of projectiles and as such, can be reflected with Caithe’s #3 skill. The reflected projectiles will one-shot the elementals if they hit them.
With this tip I had little problem finishing the achievements.
Imagine the flying turrets engi will get in HoT…
Why do you need air instruments when we have actual instruments. That can actually be played?
I’m assuming these are because of Chinese New Year? Ahwell.
The only thing I’d change is that you’re revealed instantly when downed. Hate thieves who will still stay in stealth for 15 seconds after I’ve downed them from SR.
PU Mesmer. Just saying.
Lich form has its time and place. It’s really strong popped midfight at a point where if you run or try to hide from the projectiles you lose the point. Out in the open I just hit Rush and am out of range before the necro can say “Wut?”
That, too. It’s also a lot shorter warning, so you cannot just run out of the circle, but have to dodge it.
I think they mentioned that a lot of the parts for the Precursor collections will require visiting the “old world”, too. That should keep the zones busy for a while.
That, and people leveling their Revenants.
I don’t get it… how are people saying this isn’t a lot of loot? The value of what he got is roughly ~3000g. He can buy 3 full sets of ascended armor, or a legendary weapon after just 6 weeks…
That seems quite reasonable to me….
That’s not loot, that is just gold. I dont play games to make gold, I already do that in real life.
And also, where do you buy this ascended armour?
You can buy everything else except the Vision Crystal directly from TP. With the addition of Silverwastes getting Vision Crystals is no longer a problem. Effectively yes, you can buy ascended from TP.
Weird i will check tonight, never seen any ascended armour on the TP.
In the off chance that you’re not just trolling, no you can’t buy the actual end product in the TP, but you can get 3 of the 4 components (that is, the 2 parts and the inscription/insignia) from TP, which are the main bulk of the work.
Sure you still need to level a crafting discipline to 500, but that’s also easily solved by having enough gold.
Previously getting the mats for the Vision Crystal was the most time consuming part, as it required running world boss events, dungeons/JPs and champ farming. Now with Silverwastes chest farming everyone is practically swimming in ascended mats and skill point scrolls, so crafting Vision Crystals is the least time/money consuming part of the equation.

crazy idea. add crossed, white swords to all tower/keeps when they are attacked
problem solved
You mean like, immediately when they are attacked? Because with the current mechanic a T1/2 tower falls about when the swords first pop.
I’m all for player scouting, but I know it’s a kitten boring job most of the time.
Yeah the real question here is why didn’t the other team rush your lord when they hit 350? Did you defend him?
Why use Gliders if we have Waypoints in HoT?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

If Silverwastes is any indication, there will be very few waypoints compared to the original areas. I find this new direction (if that’s what it is) very refreshing. Too many waypoints ruin immersion and exploration even more than (flying) mounts.
My hope is that they reduce the number of waypoints and remove the pointless armour damage. Fewer waypoints equals more time penalty for defeat, and therefore there would be little need for armour repair, which is essentially a minor time delay now.
Yeah armour damage does seem a bit redundant now as a death penalty.
Let’s get started with Shrubsplosives. Sometimes the vines that link two of the shrubs together is clipped into the ground, making it very hard to judge where you can safely detonate them. The knock up from the dragon is extremely infuriating, because stability has no effect on it. I’ve been happily lighting a fire while shrubs spawned behind me, then I see the orange underneath me so I pop Stand Your Ground, then I get knocked up into the air on top of a shrub. OK. Why is that a thing? I haven’t been able to tell a difference for when it’s going to be him clawing or popping his head out of the ground, so it seems like pure RNG.
It’s not. Before the first burn phase, the bite (which cannot be stabbed through) comes right after the claws. After the first burn phase, it comes right after the first row of rocks. The shrubs are also always in the same pattern so you don’t have to guess where the line between them goes. Note that you don’t have to spend a dodge to avoid the claws if you have swiftness or speed/traveler runes (or another class with 25% passive speed boost). You can easily just run out of the circle.
Rock Dodger is equally frustrating. For one it is often hard to see the symbols on the ground due to the darkness and the way the fog or something works. Now after completing burn phase 1, this achievement just gets kittened. Dragonboy will light up the whole place with rocks. Great. Being a guard I have aegis. Nope, doesn’t block it. I also have the focus. Nope, shield skill doesn’t block them either. Your only chance is to find one square millimeter of ground that is not affected, or hope you have the endurance to dodge roll. This becomes a problem when entering burn phase 2 because dragonboy will cover the room twice with rocks. So if you use your dodge roll too close to entering the second burn phase, it is impossible to not be hit by a rock because you won’t be able to roll twice.
As a guardian, even in full berserker, my damage is balls. Because of how many rocks are falling in burn phase 2 in particular, I cannot melee with a greatsword or I will fail the achievement. So I have to use rod/focus or maybe sword for better DPS but one ability. Most times, it will end up having to go to a 3rd burn phase, which makes the likelihood of succeeding plummet.
This achievement I can relate to being a pain. Fortunately, you don’t have to do it alone. Get someone to lead you into the instance (so that he’s the owner, not you), stand at the edge of the area and you don’t even have to dodge once. Swap places with your mate and you’ll both be happy.
If you want to solo it, the rocks that pop off the ground come in a criss-cross pattern so there is four quadrants on the area where they never pop. For the large rock throwing templates your best bet is to evade them. Bring vigor or sigils of energy for more dodging. It takes quite a while for the rocks to come down after the template appears on the ground, so don’t dodge too early. Finally, be careful of the red circles in the burn phase.
Guardian is probably one of the most frustrating classes to do this achievement because of no access to good ranged DPS. I did this ok with my warrior and had absolutely no problem at all with my LB ranger.
Keep trying. The feeling when you finish it will be much more rewarding than completing some “content” you could do blindfolded.
this game is heaven for farmers and grinders with insane endless 24/7 champ farm or SW chest farm. i just spend 50 euro buying 4000 gem which gives me only like 450g..by far less than you farmers.. I WILL STOP SPENDING MONEY ON THIS GAME..i feel i keep the game alive for farmers and grinders.
How long did it take for you to make that 50 euros? 8 hours? 4 hours? One hour?
Now compare it to the hours these farmers and grinders took to make that 450 gold.
If you think it’s so much more fun to grind the gold, go ahead.
1. You don’t need ascended for anything. Weapons are a nice upgrade because of the higher base damage, but stat wise the difference is negligible.
2. Because of #1 it doesn’t matter if the loot that drops will get you ascended gear in 2 months or 2 years. No content in the game is locked away from you because you don’t have ascended gear yet.
3. When the expansion launches, according to Anet you still don’t need ascended gear to complete the content there.
Can’t you understand that GW is not a loot based game. By locking yourself into a mindset of having to have the BiS gear before you can “have fun” is just a big road to disappointment. The fun is already there with exotic gear and if it isn’t, it won’t be there when you have grinded your ascended either.
As long as the rewards remain way below PvE levels I’m fine with increasing them. EotM is a good example of what happens when you make a WvW map give more of certain rewards than PvE maps do, although I’m pretty sure most of the PvE karma trainers there haven’t even tried Silverwastes chest farming (won’t help for karma, but for ascended mats… oh my).

Rytlock comes out of the mists with his sword, Sohothin in his hand. He tosses a pistol the the first warrior he sees. “I don’t need this anymore, so you can have it”, he says and grins, walking off into the distance.
The warrior specialization is actually called the “Juggler” and we get dual wield torches.
Well the cripple on the last hit of the chain was added after launch. Probably why.
Xiahou did it with impunity. I think that should be wiki’d.
Use the LFG.
