I (as a warrior) like to watch the boss a while from range with my rifle and see what are the attacks I should avoid. When I think I’ve got the handles right I go in with melee, because even with some downtime dodging and blocking, melee still does a ton more damage than ranged.
Of course sometimes I misjudge and end up downed, but most of the time the boss fights are long enough for me to figure out the mechanics and adapt.
It’s also much more rewarding (in an out-of-the-game rewarding sense) to fight a boss in melee and succeed than stand at the sidelines pew pewing.
The trading post is your friend. Sell stuff you don’t need and buy stuff you do need. It also helps not to try to raise two crafts that require (mostly) the same fine materials.
For Ranger the most obvious choices would be Huntsman and Leatherworking.
Can we expect more events like the Shatterer and Hunger games that happened in the Betas?

GW2 PvP being advertised as a separate game from PvE I’d say… no.
Not sure.
But seeing that the Fine stones are only available through the Black Lion Chests or Gem Store I’d say… no.
This has been answered in another thread already. EU countries need to add VAT on top of all purchases, even digital. That’s 20% on top of the sales price.
1. Add 0-3 ectoplasm as a chest drop.
2. ???
3. Profit.
Let me put it this way. If your wrist doesn’t hurt from holding down the right mouse button you’re doing it wrong.
The most challenging part in many jumping puzzles is the camera. For the love of god, please add a transparent view instead of the “zooming close enough to see your nostrils” every time the camera clips with terrain.
I know a transparent camera could be used to “cheat” and see inside structures, but I really cannot see that being a problem anywhere else than PvP and even there it would be a pretty rare nuisance.
A knee-jerk reaction from Anet. They should just have waited until more people start leveling alts and/or more professions. The abundance of those low-tier materials would have corrected itself.
Look at WoW where most people are max level. The price of low-tier mats has risen to an acceptable level (actually high enough that new players cannot afford them – but in turn they can sell what they gather when leveling and make quick gold).
so the solution is ump your toon every couple days becase he’s gotten too high level?!
That’s beyond asinine. Somebody needs a good slapping.
Well how much jute do you really need? Are you trying to make money selling it in the TP?
Norn.
I love the female norn voice. Almost as sexy as Eir
I think the worts part is that she doesn’t point you towards an event, when you talk to her.
If I jump around and sometimes fall off a 1 foot ledge my male Charr will scream like he just fell off the Empire State Building. This can happen within seconds of the last scream and while it was funny at first, it’s a tad annoying now. Anyone else have this issue?
I believe the sound of falling off the ESB is something like SPLAT
Thanks for the info
Those sets would definitely look more intimidating on pretty much any other race, but hey… Who am I to criticize? Need to collect them myself and come here to show them off
The best part of course at this point is that I don’t need to buy the masterwork ones.
Looking forward to a "Make-Over" Option For Re-Customizing Your Character's Look

Makeover token would be the gem store best seller if it’s priced reasonably (around 400-800 gems I’d say).
The economy would be better if it was by server and not all servers
Unless prices settle down soon, I’m going to have to agree. It’s hard to make a profit on anything when there’s hundreds, if not thousands of the same item being sold by other players.
All ANet needs to do is disable posting items from anywhere in the world. People are using the TP as a remote vendor for trash and that’s why it’s flooded.
Why are all Norn either female or beardless boys? I’ll have to post my grizzled warrior when I get home tonight.
EDIT: A few real men on the second page, I see.
Pretty much after your “racial” story is done (i.e. the faction story begins), the dialogue is the same for all races.
Real life two-handed swords are faster to swing than most one handed swords. It’s true. Check your facts.
But it is a problem it’s cheaper to buy gems for gold than is to buy gems for real money. I mean about 500 gems=1 gold yet 1gold=400 gems….yeah it’s like what’s the point of using real money to buy gems or earn gold when it’s not very much in the first place ($20 worth of gems will net you about 3 gold), since seeing this I honestly think that the gold:gem ratio should be much higher than it is right now, but with time I believe it will stablize to what it should be.
The current price of gems just tells that lots of people are short of gold, but not short of cash. Trust me once everyone is sitting on a healthy pile of gold the price of gems will rise sharply.
Seriously, Zhaitan is a poor tactician. Which is why he got defeated so easily. He had all the knowledge in the world and yet he doesn’t use them at all.
Knowledge is useless unless you can draw conclusions and logical estimates from it. Maybe the Dragons are not that logical?
What the heck does that mean? O.O Almost everyone who played GW1 wants to play a tengu, it isn’t an Asian thing.
Oh yes, it is.
Seconded. “Equip in off-hand” for accessories too. They even have the text ready.
How I do it:
Pink – index fingers on left hand are on 1-4.
Strafe left/right bound to C and V. The thumb manages these.
Left hand moves forward via mouse and also rotation via mouse.
Dodge bound to thumb button on mouse.
I do not use backwards at all. If I need to move back I just dodge.
This has to be the weirdest setup I’ve ever seen, but since the OP asked…
SWTOR had an endgame? I wouldn’t know since I got bored after the 15 first levels.
I’d love to see gamepad support for GW2 officially. The downside would be that I’d have to get a sofa and a TV for my PC too…
Why can’t you play with just the mouse, then? Strafing is out of the question, of course but everything else is doable. Get a Razer Naga and you can even bind all skills to mouse buttons.
EDIT: Or get the Logitech G600 and bind strafing to the mouse wheel left/right.
The only profession I seem to be able to level with any kind of efficiency is cooking and jewel crafting. My other crafting professions are seriously lacking as RNG completely hates me. I can farm a recommended area for hours and only get 1 totem or 3 scales, etc. Impossible to level a profession in tandem with my level like this.
Most of the fine mats are pretty reasonably priced, so just buy them from the TP. I’ve leveled my weaponsmith and jeweler simultaneously and spent maybe 20s total for mats in the TP. Rest I have gotten from adventuring (and killing pretty much every mob I come across – this helps).
The gold -> gem economy is mostly player-driven, one silver for 3 gems is not just what players are willing to buy gems for, but also what players are willing to sell gems for.
If players think it’s too much, more people will sell gems than buy it, and it’ll become cheaper, so I think the price now must be just about right.
when you sell gems you have no choice, you can not make a price you must take the price the market will have at that moment. It is not worth to buy money for gems ingame.
Yes but if nobody sells gems for gold the price of Gems (in gold) will rise and eventually it will again be feasible to sell gems for gold.
First thing you want to do is to remap strafing to A and D instead of Q and E. You don’t need to map turning as you do that with the mouse.
This already leaves you Q and E to bind into skills. In practise, you have quick access to 1, 2, 3, 4, Q, E, R, Z, X and C, which gives you almost enough for all skills. On top of this just bind your mouse extra buttons (middle button at least) and you should be set.
I’ve also had this problem. I haven’t updated my soundchip drivers in a while or played with the sound options, so it might be just that. Have to try this tonight. Will let you know if it helped me.
Eva you should probably check the word “Malaka” in a dictionary…
/m is your friend (and perhaps /g). Call backup.
Do you have any source to support this ?

Official enough for you?
Trahearne: I personally find him to be probably worst character. :SPOILERS:
Posted by: Tom Gore.4035
I agree, Trahearne should have been the advisor, not the marshal. I mean I just find it hard to follow the orders of a vegetable half my height and one tenth of my weight.
The economy would be better if it was by server and not all servers
You mean it would be easier to play and exploit the trading post? Like in WoW where you can easily buy all postings of a commodity and then repost them at a higher price.
EU countries need to add VAT on top of all digital purchases. ANet’s service is in Frankfurt so they probably use Germany’s VAT, which is 19%.
USD prices are generally without sales tax.
So practically the story missions (with some choices, of course) for 60-80 is same for everyone, regardless of race, class or choices made in the character creation?
I’ve only now started my first alt and due to aesthetic reasons I chose the same race (Norn). I was pleasantly surprised that the personal story for my character was different from the start, but how far into the game do the personal stories stay different?
Are they going to converge into the same path for all classes in the end or is each race/class going to have their unique storyline from 1 to 80?
Make it so that the supply of gems is actually a limited commodity – You have to buy gems with IRL money first, and then you can sell gems to other players like any other item on the market.
Are you sure it doesn’t work like this already? I was under the impression that no gems are generated into the market from “thin air”. There just is a large amount of gems sold because you could buy them in beta and they would carry over, but you could not buy gems with gold in beta.
This kind of request only comes from guys who want to play the market, as it’s easier to do with a smaller volume.
Why do you need 3 seconds to activate a signet?
You should have accumulated a bunch of “basic transmutation stones” by now. Those things only work on items of level 1-79, so use them before you hit the level cap.
You can get cool looking skins for transmutation practically free from the Trading Post.
Bro’s before ho’s, man.
Word!
I’d say Tengu is almost a certain player race in an expansion. When GW2 goes to Asian market at the latest.
Had a thread about this in the Player help Player forum before this forum was founded. Currently the contents of the BLCs is not worth the price of the keys. You might get lucky, but mostly it’s more convenient to just buy the stuff you need from the store directly.
