Lower than it “should be” is not at all the same as selling for 1c above vendor price. Platinum ore vends for 6c, and the going rate on the TP is twice that. Iron vends for 3c and is trading for the same price as platinum.

What price do you, in your infinite wisdom, think these items “should be” selling for?

Is this the only game with an economy that you have played? it seems like it. I can’t talk to you anymore.

The majority of highest leveled crafting mats should not be taking hundreds almost thousands of them to = one siege golem in price, etc. This economy is completely terrible, and I don’t need to justify this fact when this is well known aside from people that just don’t get it, possibly from lack of experience in playing other games with economies.

I’m quite sure that in most games the prices of the crafting materials do not accurately reflect what you can actually craft with them.

The games you mentioned having good economics have small playerbases using the AH, which tends to give more room for manipulation, not less.

TBH I don’t know what you’re trying to say. GW2 has one of the hardest markets to manipulate due to the sheer volume being traded through.

The reason most stuff goes at vendor price is that anyone can post stuff from anywhere in the world.

You guys are all missing the point.

He’s saying somebody lists an omnomberry for 75 silver and then a bunch of people just assume that’s the going price so they list theirs, then that guy who only listed 1 omnomberry buys a bunch of them for 75 silver to craft with.

I don’t know how viable that is because the lower listed one he posts will get snapped up quickly so it’s not too likely that a huge pile will develop.

However it would be nice if the “match lowest seller” would only count piles of a certain size. It’s pretty dirty to be able to manipulate the market with only a single listing even if it doesn’t work every time.

I think one possible way is to list a median seller’s price in addition to the lowest seller’s price on the selling interface. You will still have problems with the low quantity goods, but should solve some issues with the higher flow ones.

In the end, there is only so much they can do. The sellers has to do a bit more work if he wants to get the price that he deserves.

I think you are right and you should go to post your suggestion in the suggestion tab. Median price would definitely help here, as the market is huge and there’s bound to be a median price that quite accurately reflects what the current value of the item really is.

Final Stretch on Jeweler

in Crafting

Posted by: Tom Gore.4035

Tom Gore.4035

It’s not as bad as it might seem. The rares you craft with the ectos give 0-3 back when salvaged. If you salvage with a black lion kit (around 5 silver per use at current gem prices), you will also get the jewel back which will sell for 10-20s. With luck, you will actually gain money from the items you craft and at the bare minimum, you should not lose much.

Already seeing a sharp drop in all T6 material (except blood and rubies, lots of berserkers around I guess) prices, yet the exotics you craft from them still remain at the range of 2-4g. Even if you bought all materials from TP you can already make some money on crafting certain exotics.

@Urejt, that’s not how economy works. Contact the gold sellers and see how much they are willing to pay. If they sell gold at 2.50 USD per 1g I think you’re lucky if you could get 15 USD for your 10g. Now I don’t know what you do for a living, but 15 USD for a day’s “work” (even considering it’s a pretty awesome job compared to many others) isn’t that much.

The Fine Transmutation stones are pretty common drop from Black Lion Chests and they’re pretty cheap on the gem store too. ~70 silver can just about buy you gems for a bunch of 5. How often you want to change your lvl 80 gear?

Basic stones (for gear below 80) everyone should have troves of sitting in their bank.

Tom Gore.4035

I agree with you Tom the gold sellers have already bought gold form players at a certain rate if Anet lowered their price on gold for long enough the gold sellers would loose a considerable chunk they have already invested. Sure they could sit on their gold until ANet raised the price again but during that time they are making nothing. Lowered gold prices would hurt the illegal sellers.

And if what ANet says is true that they will not generate gems or gold into the game from thin air (in essence every gem on the market is bought with real money and every gold gotten from gem sales is player generated) then they would not really even devaluate in-game gold.

Perfect solution. Do these irregularly and without warning and the gold-sellers will soon discover it’s too risky to do business with GW2 gold.

Has anyone gotten the perm-items from the chests?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Tom Gore.4035

Tom Gore.4035

I bought 5 to try my luck – I like the mystery potions that we now get, great idea.

However I’m starting to feel like the game is a great big slot machine – gamble at the mystic forge, gamble on which dyes you get, which minis you get etc etc. While that can be fun on occassion and I’m sure its making anet profit, as a gamer I feel more than a little bothered by it. shrug Maybe Im not anets target demographic.

You can purchase the dye you want from the TP with gold (if you got enough), mystic forge has a lot of certain recipes and the random ones are not really worth it anyway.

It’s like gambling yes, but also in the sense that you don’t have to do it.

What a clever ploy from Anet to include super-rare items into the chest. I bet the keys are selling like crazy for a while, until people realize it’s gonna take them 1000 chests on average to find one of these perma items.

Opening 1000 chests takes around 500 keys, which would cost 45000 gems. You do the math.

Gem prices with exchange

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Tom Gore.4035

Tom Gore.4035

Well the only “intervention” I can see is a gem “sale” where Anet would offer discounts on Gem purchases for real money for a limited time. That would increase the amount of Gems on the market and thus reduce the price of them for a bit.

Take in account that all gems that were purchased during the beta events were moved over to the retail version, thus resulting in an ecomony where there was an insane amount of gems and little or no gold in the market. You can be 100% certain the price of gems will never fall to the level it was close to launch. I would expect the price of gems to at least double within the next few months.

Again, not sure. Might be flat 30% chance to activate once. I’m fairly certain it’s not 30% chance to activate twice and certainly not 60% chance to activate once.

Actually at the beginning of the 15-25 zones you will still encounter the tier 1 materials. The problem is more that when you start the game as a new player you

1) Don’t immediately get all the tools and end up missing nodes early on.
2) Don’t know how to use your materials efficiently to level crafting.

With my second character I had absolutely zero problem leveling crafting at the same pace as my character.
