I’m putting this in the same category as letting enemy realm members progress in OS because “it’s a jp”.
And the answer is the same.
A resounding “NO!”
If everyone can achieve everything, nobody really achieves anything.
So you decided to ignore the advice given by several posters in this thread and gambled away your money?
I think you should get rid of that “Wise” in your handle.
Well if you don’t like blobs you can always come to the Obsidian Sanctum. Very nice small skirmishes there, with the added benefit of interesting battlegrounds and no siege.
I have only one problem with your idea. It’s hard to get a house for everyone in the world. There’s hardly enough space.
This could be easily remedied by making the houses expensive to maintain, so most would opt for a shared house with their guild or friends, while the ones playing more actively could get their own.
There’s a huge number of houses in the open world and the cities, and many more could easibly and feasibly be created for this purpose.
I like the thought,Just not the ships.
Why not add Guild Halls like back in GW1 ?
- The Guild Tab (Hotkey:G) will teleport you to the Guild Hall.
Guild Leaders & officers can pay for Guild Hall upgrades (Merchants, craftsman,
Dye seller “Common dyes”)- GvG with in the Guild Halls. Just like Guild Wars 1 with islands where 2 guilds can battle it out. And monthly GvG Tournaments.
- 5/6 Diffrend Guild halls. (Snowy, Jungle, Magma ect.) Old Gw1 members will know.
- A Fun place to meet up with each other, And Quests can be invited with a small fee of 10Silver (Was 100 coins back in GW1)
A little preview of what the GvG map could look like. http://wiki.guildwars.com/images/7/71/Imperial_Isle_map.jpg
What a Snowy guild hall could look like.

Because instancing the Guild Halls would truly be a crime against the most beautiful game world ever created.
I’m afraid that’s all ANet is willing to cook up, but I’ll still be disappointed if the Guild Halls are not set in the open world and the cities.
I’d love to have cloaks too, but until they introduce a system where you can opt for physics-simulated weapon scabbards, etc. I think it would just look like crap.
I’m talking about my warrior’s axes poking through his plate skirt.
ANet had in their hands the perfect platform for a community-centered MMORPG with rich and varied endgame. Instead they caved in to the whines of the WoW content locusts and opted for yet another endless gear treadmill.
Their loss, as they will undoubtly witness when the next “AAA themepark” launches. Watch this space when TESO comes out.
I understand the whole not playing with people who suck, but at the same time I thought this game was about “team work” and “playing together” lol..
You can also play together with people who actually have brains.
Sounds like I have to check Orr out again. I’ve never enjoyed my time there because of the ridiculous mob density and as a result, I’m sure I’ve missed ton of cool events.
Sorry 100% world completion, you’ll have to wait for a bit more…
The world is plenty big enough for non-instanced housing. Especially if you consider that every building in the cities could have one or more apartments.
It would also be /the/ solution to the empty open world problem. Much better than the “let’s create mind-numbingly boring living world achievements” solution they have come up with.
Well put yourself in this situation , you join a party with random people ( like most do)
and all those people dont know what the hell is going on, and they are getting down a lot . Then what? team work? how if your team is dead and it takes forever to revive them when you and the boss are fighting each other.
Don’t play dungeons with strangers. If you have to, don’t play them with baddies. You can spot them pretty early on and stop wasting your time.
Leap of faith can nicely be combined with the revive daily. On a serious note though, the possibility for guild activities are lacking. However, soon they ll add stuff to do as a guild. How about the first to reach the enemies home waypoint in the borderland, the funniest final moments. You can do TP competition. Everyone puts 50 silver and trades it. The person doubling this silver the most gets all the other profit minus guild cut.
All in all though, people will see all this as not real things to do in the game, but only things to compensate for the lack of guild activities/quests
You pretty much nailed my thoughts. I just wonder when this “soon” is coming.
Hide n’ Seek can work pretty well though, as you cannot see nametags and/or tab target through walls so you will actually have to “see” the person to find him. Plenty of interesting areas to do this. Asura should of course get appropriate handicaps such as having to keep a signet that has a graphical effect.
or lets just delete this post, infract me and send ninjas to my house?
This is the most probable result. Especially the ninjas part.
ye and for the 500 items salvaged you just need to buy 500 white items and 20 basic kits
What’s wrong with you people? With an average dungeon run you can probably get around 20 items to salvage per run.
With a single daily, you will score probably some 50 more.
Doing 100 events will certainly net you an average of 5 drops per event.
Bottom line. You don’t have to buy a single item for salvage from the TP to do the monthly if you just use your brain a bit.
Inb4 someone comes chiming in that the “Guild Wars” in the game’s name relates to lore and not player guilds or their wars in any way. LOL.
Yes, this is a feature we are all looking forward to. Probably not coming in 2013 though.
Your character actually looks at the object you have selected.
… which brings me to my favourite pet peeve of the animations.
How come we have things like this, plus feet adjusting to inclinations on the levels you’re standing on, but we can’t sit on chairs???
Oh oh oh, why not run a dungeon? 1200 tokens for a full suit of exotic armor, super easy to get.
First , I need 1380 tokens to get full set.\
I have to run it 650 times to get 1200 tokens !!!!
No, you don’t.
Do you enjoy beating your wife, OP?
No that’s not a loaded question at all.
I think the new waypoint changes were necessary in order to create interesting boss fights.
enjoy beating up my wife?
what kind of sick person are you anyway?
this has nothing to do with the game lol
http://www.fallacyfiles.org/loadquekittenml
Duh cannot post the link because of the kitten filter
Google my question and open the first link you get if you didn’t get my point.
NOOO!
Nothing’s more funny than activating stability, endure pain and then jumping on the bunch of people below the wall with my warrior. Death From Above!
Not a bad idea, but I would still start from adding incentives to split your forces instead of punishing zerging.
I once wrote a lenghty post about changing the supply mechanic and siege camps, but it was quickly buried under 100 threads crying for more phat lewt.
The way I see it, people like to zerg, ANet lets them zerg. End of story.
I’m not opening a link with “man” and “corset” in the same word, thank you.
That’s what I use, but it really isn’t ideal.
It is like you’re wearing a corset, really…
You’ve got some seriously weird corsets where you’re from, man.
the ignorant in this thread seem to think that anything they don’t understand constitutes spam, which makes me laugh rather hard.
i don’t care if they add it.
It is spam for them, just as me writing Finnish would be to you. Hence I don’t write Finnish in the public channels.
The game has different language servers for those who don’t want to write in english. If your language is not supported, stick to english so others in the game can also understand you.
As simple as that.
Hopefully yes.
Also, Tesselation.
dude.
its a game about slashing baddies and getting loot in a beautiful environement.mini games wont stand a chance unless they give loot or if playing it is required for map completion.
You are the Epitome of what’s wrong with the current MMO genre. You’re the reason they have taken the RP out of MMORPG.
I hope some day I wake up and you and your kind are all back to playing CoD and MOBAs for the rest of your days and leave our games alone.
I hope the new dailies actually bring people into the open world. And not all in the same kitten spot, but spread out into the zones.
The problem will go away if Anet adds ‘crouch’ action button
“Say, do you fancy some tea, my dear dead nemesis?”
Lol! +1
There are many chest armors that bare most of the chest. Get one, transmute and profit.
Seconded, although I feel ANet is not doing this because it would be “copying” that other MMO.
So many people would rather someone else not be able to communicate because they think it would inconvenience them by having to read a line of text and saying OH I CAN’T UNDERSTAND THAT. Next line.
lol
Darn… the next line is also in Cyrillic. Ahwell.
100 lines later:
OH IT’S A LINE IN ENGLISH! WOOOT!
So do we have any idea how the new daily achievements will work? Will they be a set achi for a set day of the week? Or maybe a random achievement from a pool of X different? Or even an achi composed of random elements, each pulled from a pool?
I’m interested to see how these new dailies are supposed to bring people back into the open world. And if they will, will it be the same achi for everyone each day so that spot X in the world will be overflowing and the rest will be the same graveyard as today?
If only ANet would do test servers… if only.
Well even that would be good, especially if they used the open world maps or bits of them.
I’m just trying to figure out how to utilize the most beautiful game world ever created a bit more than just leveling.
Maybe something like WoW archeology, only with less repetition and more minigames/puzzles. But that’s for another thread…
I guess we will see some time in the future what they intend to do with player housing and guild halls. Those at least are in the pipeline, although for me they might arrive too late (ArcheAge is coming out this year).
I like Eir’s voice. Soooo sexy…
You guys don’t PvP, do you?
Yeah GW2 is a game practically made to be played on a big screen with a controller.
“People don’t come back to that areas because they want to farm/get gold/tokens…and that areas aren’t worthly as others. Making them worthly will break the economy.”
Where i said PvP break economy? And yes, making easier areas farms worth like end ones will break it.
Because this thread was about adding GvG to the open world to give people a reason to go there. You brought the farming up and I tried to put you back on topic. If you can’t and want to derail instead, please do it in some other thread.
Again you are just reading one phrase of an entire paragraph, read again my first two post…
One more time…making open world GvG will change the core of this game, so you are suggesting something that will change it from the base, changing it to other game, bad idea
It would not change the game. It would add to it. You would still have the option to play the game exactly as it was before, maybe just seeing more people in the open world, sometimes fighting each other.
The only thing that would change is the ridiculous assumption of the game’s lore that all races and people would suddenly unite and cooperate if there was a greater external threat.
Add more player instruments and then give us an option to mute player music.
Everyone’s happy.
Kendansa I think we should get chairs (/benches/rocks/logs/w/e) where we can actually sit first. Good idea anyhow.
Frankly, GW2 has so little roleplaying tools it’s almost pitiful. Heck, even WoW has tons more than GW2. Let’s start with a list of bare minimum that should exist in any game that wants to call itself mmoRPg.
- Sitting on chairs/benches/logs/rocks, etc.
- Animation for eating & drinking.
- Character animations for speaking.
- Direct player to player trading.
And if GW2 wants to be have any “serious” roleplaying, it should add:
- Books/scrolls we can write on.
- Ability to drop items on ground/surfaces (might be difficult to handle resource-wise).
- Player/guild housing (non-instanced is better).
- More, a LOT more emotes.
- (Guild) cloaks/tabards and a TON more town clothing.
I could go on, but the point should be clear by now. GW2 has extremely poor roleplaying support. It should not even be called an MMORPG.
ANet: “We will put Guild Halls and Player Housing in the game at some point.”
Kaimick dies peacefully at an age of 93, content that ANet is working on putting Guild Halls and Player Housing in GW2.
Looking at Colin’s notes for 2013 there is absolutely nothing about Guild Halls and Player Housing, so if they are really working on those, they sure are taking their time…
They’ve already spent considerable time into making the game into a gear treadmill dungeon runner with a beautiful, big lobby (the open world). Frankly with that kind of direction, I can’t see housing coming in anytime soon.
Well we don’t have ground based spears and underwater you don’t even have a helmet so maybe the neck armor is redundant?
>_>
Isn’t this suggestion -basically- WvW in PvE area? >_> they have that feature for a reason, go use it.
No. It’s a suggestion of adding consent only PvP to the open world, giving an ability for players to choose whom to fight and whom to not.
WvW is all-in. If you choose to fight, you choose to fight everyone in the enemy realm with no control who they are, what their methods, etc.
Also, there are two different WvW areas compared to what… 30 zones in the open world. You don’t see any disparity in the amount of content there?
And of course who knows what we will get when the first paid expansion comes out. We can remain hopeful.
You can’t lock users into the game by punishing them more for not being logged in. If that were added on top of the ban, many would not come back.
The purpose of temporary bans is to discourage them from repeating the behaviour when they return, which means they are very welcome back when the punishment has ended. Causing them to log in to a game to do tedious work to reduce their punishment countdown does nothing to inspire them to participate in the punishment, and does nothing to strengthen and encourage the community spirit.
They should have thought about that before committing the bannable offense.
I believe nothing would strengthen and encourage community spirit more than throwing rotten vegetables at banned ppl together.
Obviously their ban time would not be reduced if they were not logged in. Add in some boring stuff you need to click every now and then so they can’t just go AFK.
Better yet, make stocks and lock them there. Then allow us to throw rotten vegetables at them.
5. Thief Stealth. The way that ArenaNet ‘imagined’ stealth is the same, broken way that everyone else has ‘imagined’ stealth. Tweaking sprite opacity to achieve invisibility and pretending that that is stealth is completely the wrong way to think about it. Not being able to see a player 1m in front of your face is broken. Not being able to detect a player when they walk through you is broken. Not being able to track a bleeding thief by looking at a trail of blood on the floor is broken. If GW2 is supposed to be an mmoRPg then the class should encourage the player to play a certain way. Players who play thieves completely and utterly ignore playing ‘stealthily’ in favour of in-your-face-suck-my-balls-nyah-nyah-invisibility. If you want to encourage stealthy play then simply do this: turn off the name tag and outline which normally appears when you face towards, mouse over or select a character. That’s it. That’s all you have to do. Now an intelligent player could position themselves in terrain which matches their clothing colour and not automatically be seen by passing enemies because of the stupid big red sign above their heads. A moving player would be more easily detected than a stationary one. Dark, shadowy areas could be traversed by a player without being seen. Gosh! It’s almost… like… what you would expect a thief to do!
Sorry but there is nothing RP in GW2. Even WoW has tons more RP tools and stuff than GW2, so any roleplaying reasons for changing game mechanics you can go and throw out of the window right off the bat.
I agree with you wholly though and hate invisibility to my guts in every multiplayer game.
Server forums. What we have been asking since before the game launched.
