Couple of undisputable facts about the gem store and gem prices.
- Nothing and absolutely nothing there is needed to enjoy the game.
- The price of gems (vs. gold) will keep going up. If you want to buy gems with gold, do it now.
If you absolutely need something from the gem store, stop being stingy and buy the gems with hard cash. In doing so you are also supporting the developer, allowing them to bring you more content to your favourite game.
I don’t like the downed state in PvP either. At the very least, the PvE part of it should be removed in PvP (i.e. you could not rally from an NPC), but I’d rather see it removed wholly and simply put all players directly to defeated state in PvP.
Maybe change it so that you only get damaged equipment when you use a waypoint to ress, to offset the fact that you will be defeated more.
Hopefully it will be tuned or removed in PvP. It doesn’t belong there. IMO.
The items you loot while playing at lower level is <normal loot level for the area>-<your real level>, ends included. So if you are lvl 80, at a lvl 15 area killing lvl 15 mobs, you can receive loot which is between lvl 15 and lvl 80.
But you know we have the keys. They just don’t fit in the lock.
The 5% is the fee for the bird that picks up your items and carries them to the seller.
It would fix the buy orders that are under the vendor price at least.
For warriors it’s actually quite easy. The elite skill Signet of Rage gives you 30 seconds of swiftness (and might and fury!) on a 60 second cooldown. Couple that with a trait trat reduces signet recharge by 20% (to 48 seconds) and a warhorn (10 seconds of swiftness on 20 sec cooldown) and you can already run non-stop (swiftness stacks in duration so signet + warhorn = 40 seconds of swiftness, at 20 seconds blast horn again for 10 more seconds = 50 seconds of swiftness against 48 seconds cooldown on signet).
Alternatively you can put points in the trait line that gives boon duration bonus. Full line gives you 30% boon duration bonus and you can further reinforce this with runes to go to 60% total, which is exactly what you need to have constant swiftness with the signet trait. Upside is that you can wield 2 handed weapons or a shield offhand plus have might and fury on you 100% of the time. Downside is that you will lack some offensive power.
Either you don’t like making money (by revealing this to everyone) or this doesn’t make you money at all.
Even Eir could arm-wrestle Logan and win. Come on the guy’s a puny human.
The most obvious first of course, namely CTF, tug-of-war and team deathmatch.
Sadly that mentality cannot be avoided. People will do whatever will net the best rewards. It’s up to the developers to balance rewards so there is an incentive to defend.
I’m pretty certain botters shut down certain events on purpose to farm them.
Can’t farm them if they’re shut down
You don’t get it. The events themselves are short and thus offer very limited loot. The real loot comes from the counter-events that happen when the Pact is not advancing and the risen try to capture the facilities back. If the DEs are advanced to the point where Arah is available, the counterattack from Risen for that location is too strong and widespread for bots to do effectively. However the locations they’re stuck now are easy to farm since the mobs come in small bunches at certain chokepoints where bots can quickly AoE them down.
Yes it sucks. If you want to carry your guild emblem to battle take the backpack.
You can easily have 100% uptime on swiftness for warriors at least. It beats any passive speed buff.
There’s around 20% cut for Anet in trading gold to gems or vice versa. It’s there to prevent people from playing the gem market and earning money.
That said, you can be 100% sure the price of gems (vs. gold) will slowly but steadily increase over time as people have more gold in game. At the moment I think it’s too expensive to buy gold with gems, unless you have a lot of disposable income and don’t mind spending it to the game.
Why are you arguing? The correct answer why the system works as it does was already given in the first reply:
it’s a GOLD SINK
And also a time sink.
MMOs need both. Don’t think it’s worth it to grind two sets? Don’t do it.
It’s clearly a design choice and I doubt arenanet is going to change it.
Lol OP is a commander. Yeah of course you’re going to survive because you have your personal zerg surrounding you 24/7…
I am just wondering how long until everyone realizes this and zergs will just hail each other when passing on the field and going to attack an undefended objective.
Bloodlust is an interesting choice of rune AFAIK it resets on both weapon swap and downed…
I’m pretty certain botters shut down certain events on purpose to farm them.
I see the OP has been “AC’d”. Don’t worry. It happens the devs thought that a good “learning curve” to their game is to introduce an extremely trivial PvE and then add the most difficult dungeons in a modern MMO yet, PLUS placing arguably the most difficult story mode dungeon at the lowest level of them – usually the first one the players get into.
So instead of a learning curve we have a learning wall. Hitting your head through that one might be painful, but rest assured after that the dungeons will feel a lot less difficult.
They wouldn’t be legendary if you could get one for yourself by playing 1-2 hours a day for a month or two.
What’s legendary if everyone and their dog are wielding it?
No one is saying that, necessarily. Just that it shouldn’t be tied to gold, so only the super wealthy can get them. Even a play who plays GW2 every day for the next five years may never get one, because they aren’t obsessed with grinding money. Someone with enough credit cards who doesn’t even know how to play the game can get a legendary, whereas the best player in the world may never get one. The quality of the appearance should reflect the quality of the player, not their time investment or cleverness on the stock market. Hence why people are saying it should be tied to legendary accomplishments.
Sorry but MMOs don’t work around the quality of players. You can already net more money if you’re a good player by playing explorable dungeons, because you don’t have to pay a 10-20s repair bill for each one. But that’s about it. Everything else is “easy”. You just have to do it a lot.
MMOs are designed to reward grinding. They are designed to be time sinks. It’s just the way it is and it won’t change, because the developers want to keep you playing for years and years to come.
This is a really cool idea. You should ask to move this to the suggestion forum.
No, you shouldnt. Any good suggestions on that forum will be buried under two hundred “suggestions” crying for more loot for less effort and/or cries for nerfing class X. WvW players don’t go to suggestion forum. Devs sure as hell don’t go there.
So no.
The ballista is not meant to kill smart people. It’s main role is to destroy enemy siege engines and kill stupid people who stand still when a huge spear-chucking machine is pointed at them.
I’ve had great success in killing stupid people with a ballista. You just need to learn to identify the ones that are not paying attention.
They wouldn’t be legendary if you could get one for yourself by playing 1-2 hours a day for a month or two.

Warriors are the jack of all trades, but master of none. A ranger can still beat them at range and a thief can still beat them in melee.
Dude he totally earned that commander title. He has the right to be above you in all aspects.
So it has the same model as Rytlock’s sword, just different effect?
You can spend 20+ gold for a complete set of 80 lvl exotics or farm your kitten off for crafting materials.
Or you can spend ~6 gold for a complete set of 78 lvl exotics with very little difference in performance.
Now you’re starting to make sense, stefan. I’m all for more short damage immunities, as long as they also make you drop significant utility / mobility or DPS.
I don’t know. I play a Norn warrior and I use none of my racials because they suck.
If only the warhorn would offer something on top of swiftness…
Any UTC+2 timezone(ish) guilds on Tarnished Coast doing WvW? I might be tempted to transfer, as I’m getting queues on my prime time on current server and with my playing time being so limited it really hurts my experience. I also don’t really care for zerging so I wouldn’t mind being in the “night crew”.
this guy is a dirty dirty smelly -insert curse word here- anet should have a live burning of his character in lions arch for everyone to see.
I think a public execution IRL would be more effective. It’s not like cheating scum like this would ever benefit society anyway.
Well there is some simple logic that needs to be implemented here. Here are a few examples, i’m sure there are many.
- If someone is already on siege, and it’s not yours – no ‘use’ option
- If you have no supply – no ‘build’ option.
- build should be priority over use
With this priority you could not use your own or unused ram if there was a build site on top of it, before that build site is finished or you’re out of supply.
Well given the fact that it should be pretty trivial to merge servers in GW2, I’d say this problem will be solved by Anet. Whether or not it will be too late we will see.
You should probably wait a bit. They’re introducing character makeover “soon”. It’ll probably cost you some gems, but I’d say it will be low compared to grinding to 80 again.
I love the signet of rage on my warhorn warrior. 100% uptime on swiftness is quite nice when running around in WvW
Honestly no idea.
Stop kidding yourself. Even if the warrior specs full melee and the Guardian specs full “ranged” (lol) the warrior is going to do more damage at range.
Surviving in melee is what guardians do. That’s about all they do, if not counting for meager healing and support skills.
Warrior on the other hand is a jack of all trades. They don’t excel in any one category, but can do fine in almost all roles. They’re already one of the most versatile classes in the game. You’re essentially suggesting that they should be even more versatile. What would you drop out of the bunch?
(edited by Tom Gore.4035)
Those definitely do work, as they don’t proc off hits. I use sigil of luck on my MF set offhand and it registers every kill.
My problem with the rifle is that it feels so useless in sieges. Can’t hit most targets on the walls at all and firing from the walls requires exposing you for a prolonged time = dead warrior.
On open ground it’s of course golden, but for sieges I’d rather have my range-enchanced longbow spec.
So warriors need to be on par with guardians in melee survivability, while having vastly superior ranged options.
That sounds… balanced?
Maybe it only procs when you actually hit with the off-hand in the case of offhand axe it would then be only attacks 4 and 5? In that case it would be useful to take only non-hit-proc sigils for off hand.
It’s is intended. Many of the skills require a channeling time while standing still before they fire or fire completely. Axe is just not one of those with channeling abilities requiring standing still. That’s why I love my Axe/Warhorn in PvP. So mobile.
The only thing I wonder is how the heck people living in some of the upper structures of Lion’s Arch come and go about their house?
Because I’ve been jumping all around LA and I can positively say some of those houses are 100% unreachable without an airship.
It’s fine, obviously. Just wait for the sequel, coming this fall. Mesmer Wars 2.
All you guys calling this fine – we know you love your Mesmers, but please wake up before it’s too late.
As they said they work on it… also its new system to the MMORPG can you be patient and wait there are many other things to do too ( lets say you talk about WvW other talk about broken SP they work on everything they cant make everything in one day). Auctually i dont know that problem since i havent played WvW since the last patch im busy doing dungeons also theese last days i have test in school but when im done that will be tommorow night ill sure test that and tell you my results.
Can you tell me what this “new system to the MMORPG” is that you talk about? Massive battles?
DAoC, WAR and Planetside (1 and 2) tell you otherwise.
Granted, all of them did have problems with massive battles too, but nothing as ridiculous as 99% invisible enemies.
Don’t worry guys. They’re aware of the problem.
