Longbow is AoE and Rifle is single target (if you’re good you can hit some multiple with the piercing trait, but not that often).

Longbow also is a great support weapon with fire field, blind and immobilize.

Fun and very sad fact – the most effective way of making money in the long run is to TP everything that you can TP for more than vendor price + 15%, and vendor everything else. Everything.

With the current price of any materials you get on average by salvaging, minus the cost of the salvage kit use, is less than what you will get by vendoring or TPing stuff.

Some events only happen when you happen to trigger them. Talk to NPCs, listen to them. They don’t always come waving at you, needing your help. There’s an NPC on one of the Shiverpeak zones that, when you stick around for a bit, starts complaining that he’s cold and then an event starts where he needs help killing a bear to make a rug.

I find it pretty funny that this giant moves in slow motion, but the Claw of Jormag is lightning fast.

Pro tip:

In many tiers it’s much, much cheaper to level by discovering and crafting upgrade components. There’s one for every 25 levels. Combined with the booster it’s dirt cheap and fast.

There is a massive amount of content in GW2 for a new themepark game. If you’ve “worked” yourkittenoff and blown through it all in less than a month then maybe just set the game aside until the next content patch or expansion hits the servers?

Ok I think I understand where you’re coming. But I don’t think Arenanet will change their policy as long as the difference between the currencies stay approximately at the current level. Maybe they will adjust the pricing if the currency rate rises or falls suddenly.

And with the gem cards, we can always choose to buy with whatever currency we like.

Umm… I think the crafting booster increases the rate of gaining crafting levels, meaning you spend less mats on the way to 400 which is not a small benefit.

It’s one of the most brilliant gold sinks combined with a constant (real money) revenue generator for ANet.

Personally I can’t see them changing it, as it’s perfect for both their business and the game economy.

Reset how? End all auctions and send unsold items back to sellers? You realize that would cause a crash of the TP every week when the sellers would just relist everything?

Just face it, the current transparent, global market is created to benefit the buyer. It’s very hard to make money off the TP and/or manipulate it. I think this is exactly what ANet wanted.

The effective price (in what you pay in EUR) would still be affected by the currency exchange rates. Today you might pay 80 cents less, but for example with currency rate of 1.20 (very possible in the future with Euro uncertainty) you would be paying the same amount and if Euro crashes real hard you might have to pay more than with their current conversion of 1 USD = 1 EUR – VAT

Legendaries yes, but for exotics it’s cheaper to buy them directly from the TP and sell any mats you come across.

The expression on your face when you just crafted your first exotic and realize you would have gotten it cheaper if you just sold the mats and bought the item from the TP…

Even if they did charge in USD we would still have the same problem, as most of us don’t have USD sitting in our bank accounts. The exchange rate would still affect what we would effectively pay for the service.

Tom, we are complaining because these 80 Cents add up. It is 80 Cents on a 10 Euro purchase. It is more the larger the purchase gets. And it still has the potential to screw us over when the value of currencies change, because they just use that 1$=1€ flat rate. If we are lucky this works to our advantage, but it could also mean that at some point the divide will be even bigger than it is right now.

Besides, I am happy if you have a situation in life that allows you to not care about small sums of money at all. But to suggest that because you are doing well it is okay to add extra costs for anyone else is not a mindset that I will share regardless of my income.

As you said yourself, it might be that it might work to your advantage at some point (especially if Euro crashes hard). I am pretty sure I won’t see you here complaining about that then?

Only a few months ago USD rate was around 1.22. At that point you were practically paying exactly the same amount in USD and EUR (with the taxes excluded).

Like I said, the only solution for ANet would be to charge everything in USD, but I believe they would have to do all the transactions from US if that was the case.

I think the transactions tab shows you the total amount received for the whole sale on each line, not for each item you sold.

And how long does 6 or 7 runs take? 1 gold for such a long haul doesn’t sound very effective to me. I can make the same amount grinding pretty much anything lvl 80 for a couple of hours.

Maybe you meant purely real world price. If so since they are priced by region their real world value would always be stable.

I don’t know about that. Last night I checked and you could only buy 285 gems for 1 gold in-game, while it was 385 just a few nights ago. The price of gems (for gold) is rising sharply as people are getting richer in-game and I expect the trend will continue.

Eventually you will probably be able to buy enormous amounts of gold with gems and that’s when it starts being useful for those with a bit of disposable income.

Considering it costs exactly 25 EUR to purchase the gems from the gem store directly, this is purely a convenience for those without a credit card or PayPal account.

No not all EU countries have the same VAT, that’s why VAT for digital purchases is charged by the country the service is listed in (and the country they pay the tax to). ANet is listed in the UK and they use UK VAT of 20%.

What they could do is list all purchases in USD, so you would be paying 10 USD + VAT, which would be less than what we pay now, but wait until the Euro crashes hard and you might be paying more.

Anyhow, I hear gem cards are coming. If they are global you can buy them pretty much any currency you want, from the shop of your choice.

I also like the fact that my norn warrior grunts and puffs all the time when fighting. I can understand it sounds more silly if you’re waving a toothpick and casting spells.

Yes you can. Just open the Black Lion tab (O), click on the transactions tab (second from the bottom iirc) and click on cancel on each item you want to unlist. You’ll have to pick them up at the TP NPC though.

Use option 1 with an MMO mouse like the Razer Naga or Logitech G600 and activate your skills with the thumb buttons.

Second option is to get a gameboard like the Logitech G13 and bind movement to the thumbstick, leaving your other fingers to activate skills.

The respec cost is actually pretty cheap, at least at max level (less than 4 silver). Combined with the fact that you can swap traits within the lines you have chosen it makes it one of the cheapest respec systems out there.

Still, a dual trait set wouldn’t hurt, but that would sort of bite into ANets philosophy against the holy trinity and set roles.

OP I know your pain (literally, as my wrist hurt after a long session of GW2). Until ANet gives us an option to set up a control system worty of this action MMO (like gamepad support or at least the ability to toggle mouseturn), you can use Autohotkey. I’m using a script that makes my mouse middle button act as a right button toggle. Tried to put the toggle on the right mouse button directly, but that broke the context menus.

I’m also hoping they add capes and cloaks at some point. The clothing seems to be nicely animated already, so it’s just a matter of coding them in.

Because unlike the greatsword, you can be 100% mobile and still keep 100% of your damage. Just look at the warriors lying flat on their face at champion spawns. Yup, most of them are wielding a greatsword.

Give it time. The server matchups are obviously pretty effed up at this time, but once a few more rounds of WvW has passed (AND the free transfers are over), we should have more even matchups.

Seconded. They could only restrict it to be switchable in the cities, so people could not switch between trait sets mid-dungeon.

The stomp only kills glass cannons. I’ve personally survived two stomps back to back with my warrior, with only the healing skill used in between. (Don’t ask how could I miss two dodges in a row for such slowly telegraphed attack)

I’m with you. I don’t know if you can actually fail any of the world boss events at the last stage, but in practise you never do, because there is a ton of people there which ensures victory sooner or later.

Would help if the events weren’t happening on fixed intervals.

Considering how broken Orr’s dynamic events are I’d say the dev team was pretty busy even without worrying about adding world bosses to Orr.

A good content patch to add, though. We definitely need more dragon world-bosses.

Claw of Jormag should one-shot everyone who fails to dodge his cascade of ice spikes.

You can practice as many as you want, but you can only have 2 active at any given time. Switching between the trades costs you 10c for each point you have in the trade you’re switching to. So 40 silver at the maximum level.
