Generally, early int he morning is the best time to run the puzzle without interference.
I’m a shatter build but:
For PvE my base stats are 2365 Power, 1834 Precision, 1058 Toughness, 932 Vitality, and 95 Crit Damage.
In WvW I swap to 2335 Power. 1632 Precision, 1389 Toughness, 1084 Vitality, and 76 @ crit damage.
I’ve never had a problem with thieves in wvw, I’m in JQ so idk how it is with other servers and their matchups
I’ve been on T2 and T6, thieves are a much bigger deal as you go down in tiers. I never had to worry about one in T2. In T6 where the population is much thinner roaming groups of 3-4 thieves are all you see.
enjoy; potential new build that can utilize the burst given by stealth.
I like the build, but the only issue I have is that you have an incredible crit damage and almost no crit chance. If you swap out the cavalier for knights your damage goes up a lot.

Think about it some more. With the long bow you can ping from range, When you enemy gets to close hunter’s shot and retreat. You can do that all day.
Not to sure about the change to Hunter’s Shot really especially as we have a big ole pet giving away that we are near. Then again I guess that isn’t the point of that particular stealth skill, should be interesting to mess about with at least.
I liked Mauls change but it kind of makes the positions of the traits linked to GS even weirder.
Some good changes too other stuff as well, especially a blast finisher that isn’t tied to a pet. Only down side really is that with buffs to both power builds and a blast finisher to mess about with in traps it doesn’t really make my decision into what build to respec into any easier.
Edit: Wow I didn’t even notice the rapid fire change. Yeah I am def liking the new hunter’s shot then. I think this should be very interesting.
Stealth will be great because it causes enemies to drop target.
If you take a bunch of pebbles or nuggets and go to the mystic forge in Lion’s arch, press F for use and a screen will come up.
It will show your inventory on the left and on the right there will be a place to insert 4 items. Add the pebbles (or nuggets —> they are different item types so you must either insert 4 pebbles or 4 nuggets) and forge them together, you will get 1 item back. That item will either be of the same tier, or 1 higher.
Silver doubloons are at the nugget tier, so you may have better success with them. But you may also get a different item. It’s random.
Because it’s a “complaint thread” can you please let us know which topic was moved.
It’s very odd to see that come up and not know the difference between a complaint and a discussion.
Edit: Also, I cannot “follow the thread here” as the topic has been deleted.
I like them. I like feeling like I’m in the top 10%, even though I know some percentage of the other 90% left the game long ago.
Edit: of course I would also have no problem if they were removed.
Every two weeks there will be a new set of achievements which will grant about 150-250 AP if you do the content (sorry I don’t have the numbers here). I see a big jump each time I complete a part of the living story.
Also, a chest every 500 AP is better than what we had before.
Can you change your kittening topic tittle, you want more nerfs or what?
Done
Yeah, I’ve been playing around with 30 in Chaos and so far haven’t seen it as a very big deal. But because I haven’t seen long protection numbers I figured I must be doing it wrong.
I see posts about massive protection from prismatic understanding, I’ve been using it and the most I see is 6 seconds, which while nice is not the 30+ seconds I’ve been hearing about.
What am I missing?
Allow me to be the first to say that yes, I play games for instant and continuous gratification. I’m actually not being sarcastic. That’s why I play games — gratification. If it’s not gratifying I don’t do it. I have better ways to spend my free time than doing
things that I don’t enjoy. That’s not to say that I need to get everything instantly, but I want to enjoy the process of getting it. I don’t want tedious and boring roadblocks put before me. I don’t want to farm 1000 skelks in order to get 25 powerful blood to forge 1 charged drop of blood essence per day. (which is the worst of both worlds)
I can’t say i disagree with you, but there is a balance to getting the stuff you want quickly and easily, versus some tedium toward the goal. One of the biggest issues facing the game is that there is too much tedium which would lead one to believe that slapping a time gate on top of it would make it worse. So, they really need to create a system where a player isn’t farming 1000 skelk to get one drop of “super-charged-vampire blood of insta kill”. I’m hoping with the reward system they’ve outlined, it’ll make the time gate feel much less obtrusive.
Me too. The problem I have is that I haven’t seen the reward system in action yet. I think things would be better if they started giving out the rewards first and added the materials later. That way we have a better understanding of how things work and can nod along.
As it stands now, ANet doesn’t have the best track record with rewards and RNG (for example, the AP chests are better than I expected and the WvW chests are worse).

Would OP (& the rest) like more “grind-gated” content instead, like the current Legendary fiasco?
How about you post a better idea then instead of joining the “Wha-Wha ANet isn´t doing something exactly as I like it” crowd.
I´m glad to read your ideas, as I´m totally out of luck coming up with a better way of creating unique equipment than what ANet is planning now .
That’s a terrible choice. How would you prefer your favorite game be ruined?
Them:“Hey guys here’s a new armor to play with”
Us:“Great lets go…”
Them:“It’s yours in just 30-45 short days”
Ugh!
On the bright side: At least you know it will be obsolete in 6 months.
As was originally stated back in November, Ascended gear was meant to be in at launch as a bridge between Exotics and Legendary items. Exotics were relatively easy to obtain and legendaries required hundreds of hours to obtain. A middle tier that took effort but wasn’t as crazy as legendaries was made to bridge this gap. Unfortunately it wasn’t finished in time for release so people freaked out.
I think they actual said that ascended gear should have been there at launch. Not that it was planned.
Exotics will still be as much as viable, while Ascended is a small step up to have something to do.
But true, that doesn’t stop idiots from gating non-ascended geared players from dungeons and whatnot.
People already gate professions if they are geared and traited ‘wrong’.
Currently full ascended zerker trinkets give a zerker whatever a 6.4% increase in damage per hit. If ascended weapons and armor follow the same path we can expect an 8% damage increase from those.
I agree that this doesn’t matter in PvE, which is too easy and zerker focused. But it will be a big deal in WvW.
ascended armor but no slot for runes?
OMG. That would be AWESOME! But highly unlikely.
It’s not that ascended is a full tier its HOW you get it. Look at the ascended backpieces, they are so cost prohibitive (outside of fractals, which I won’t do) that only one of my characters has one.
As it stands, I think that only one character will get ascended weapons and armor, at which point I will quit the game. I like my alts. I like max gear. I like WvW.
I do not like gear grinding. I do not like time restricted content. (Think, for example, of the bullkitten that is celestial armor for a model of the coming catastrophe).
Edit: Okay maybe it won’t be exactly like that but anything that makes me do more stuff I don’t want to do in order to do the stuff I do is BAD, BAD, BAD.
(edited by TooBz.3065)
I have 7 characters that are level 80.
I think the pursuit of legendaries is the root of all evil in this game (well most evil). They force you into prolonged periods of doing things that aren’t fun at all. If you aren’t going for a legendary, you actually don’t need very much money.
I recommend suspending the legendary grind for two days, then at least once a week after that. For those days do whatever interests you. If it’s WvW then do that. Run a longer dungeon. Whatever. Just don’t grind.
Edit: If there’s nothing you want to do, turn off the game and do something else. This isn’t a “this game is not for you” post, more of a “don’t play out of habit” post.

A better system would be to display the number of kicks initiated and confirmed within a period. That way, if you get with a group and it says that they kick 10 people a month, you know you shouldn’t even start.
I think this has some potential. Worth making a new topic and discussing.
I created one here.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Show-how-many-times-players-have-kicked/first#post2432832
I’d like it if we could see how many times people have kicked other players from parties in the last month.
Often we see people complain that they were kicked from a dungeon or fractal just before the final reward. Presumably so that the party can add one of their friends to the group.
Since individuals who do this are likely repeat offenders, I recommend we have a way to see how many times it’s been done. Over time, people will get a sense for how many kicks is normal (for example, a party member logged off) and how many is excessive.
A better system would be to display the number of kicks initiated and confirmed within a period. That way, if you get with a group and it says that they kick 10 people a month, you know you shouldn’t even start.
Now that’s a good idea! A nice addition to stats visible to others, “number of players kicked from group”.
That would work in theory, however I often group with guildies that have a bad habit of logging out before leaving the group and then we have to kick them to make room for new members or reform the group.
Yeah, I thought of that. I think that people would start to know what a “reasonable” number of kicks are vs. those that are just excessive.
A better system would be to display the number of kicks initiated and confirmed within a period. That way, if you get with a group and it says that they kick 10 people a month, you know you shouldn’t even start.
In that case, I would go either full zerker or zerker valkyrie.
I would get the utility infusions versions.. I personally don’t see a lot of value in +5 power (max) from an offensive infusion.
My reasoning is that a) as I said, it’s most efficient to get crit damage from accessories and b) damage is universally useful. If you need defense you can get it from your PVT gear.
What’s the rest of your build? PvE or WvW?
In general, ascended accessories are the most efficient at getting crit damage. If you want that, you should get either zerker, zerker/valkyrie, or cavalier.
Oh please, the amount of times my 5 man groups have had to deal with this same issue from TC and FA is unreal.
Yeah, I was actually laughing when TC sent 30+ people to take out 5 of your guys with a cata outside Klovan. They zerg so hard that I wonder if they ever can click anything other than the #1 skill all week long.
I was laughing the whole time I ran away then got ran over by one of the few FA zergs who dared take a TC camp.
I feel bad for high tier players that are “stuck” on a low tier server. They just gets bitter and becomes a forum warrior. So sad to see.
1. Thanks for calling me high tier…I think
2. I’m not stuck, I choose SoS
3. I’m not bitter, I just have a lot of spare time that I can’t spend in game at times. If something happens that is either amusing or WTH; I’ll probably mention it.
My comment seems to have struck a nerve somehow. You guys (TC) do zerg a lot and you tend to send 30 people to do the job of 10.
Usually that’s what happens when you have a lot of PvE’rs coming in for an easier week, but since this seems to have hit so many “hardcore” TC’rs where they live maybe I was wrong in my assumption.
Either way, you enjoy your meteoric 2 point gain in the ratings and I’ll enjoy all that nice loot you have nicely given to us.Your server don’t have manpower. Its not our problem that you only have 10 guys around to do jobs that normally requires 30, and have to pray that the enemy zerg don’t find you and wipe you out. Obvious fact is TC is bigger than SOS. If you chose SOS then BE HAPPY about being there. Stop being bitter and jealous on bigger servers. Thanks.
If you want fair even fight, you are on the wrong server my friend. 30 men zerg is the norn of WvW. Its what the game is designed around, not 10.
No jealousy, if you remember my original post I thought it funny how we can pull almost half of your EB presence to a single location with 7 people. I was laughing because if we can ever get our ducks in a row, we can do that all day long and give more numerous opponents like TC and DB a real headache.
You should be paying attention because eventually you’re going to roll high and face T1. Other than that one week with SoR you haven’t been outnumbered in some time (with all humble respect to long-time TC’rs who know that well) so you might be thinking about ways to get around the numbers situation(s) yourselves and still have fun in off weeks.
I think this is a pathology that runs through WvW as a whole and is not a TC thing.
I’m going to guess it’s because being a commander is like herding cats. If the commander wants to deal with the threat the 7 of you face, he has to go himself, pulling his zerg along with him.
There’s also an obvious desire to have great numerical superiority before engaging. Sure people attack 5 on 1, but they seem hesitant to do so if the odds are even 2 to 1. I’ve seen a larger force break and flee before a smaller one. I’ve also seen 10 people hide behind a wall while 7 others knocked it down with a catapult.
being the only one
being the only one
The only one, but somehow you expect 2 to be able to be equipped? Gotcha.
By your unquestionable logic, then you shouldn’t have been able to buy a duplicate due to it being unique.
Agreed, and this is the flaw – not being able to use 2 of the same is perfectly fine.
If there is only one, once I buy it you cannot. Unique.
It’s a kitten term. What’s more, there is really no reason to have it be this confusing. I think the fact that people regularly mess this up and post here is sufficient evidence that there is a problem.
I agree, so avoid speed farmers and you’ll be fine. My warrior has a combination of knights and zerker gear. (Helm, Legs, Chest are knights, shoulders, boots, gloves are zerger), runes of the soldier, knights trinkets with exquisite ruby orbs,

Just curious, what happened to FA? Before week 25, the end-week scores between TC and FA was much closer than in more recent matchups. Did you guys lose transfers or something?
TC had Oceanic guilds transfer in. That unbalanced the matchups. It use to be that TC would do really well in the NA timezone and then would lose everything overnight. Where FA’s coverage was stronger.
Worse, there’s no way to know that unique has a particular meaning unless it bites you.
Yeah they write that in the itemdescription for no reason.
No, they wrote it for a good reason — to inform the players, it’s just a bad description — because it doesn’t.
“Unique”
Why didn’t you look it up in a dictionary or online translator if you did not understand what it meant.
from merriam-webster.com
Unique
1. : being the only one : sole <his unique concern was his own comfort> <I can’t walk away with a unique copy. Suppose I lost it? — Kingsley Amis> <the unique factorization of a number into prime factors>
2
a : being without a like or equal : unequaled <could stare at the flames, each one new, violent, unique — Robert Coover>
b : distinctively characteristic : peculiar 1 <this is not a condition unique to California — Ronald Reagan>
3
: unusual <a very unique ball-point pen> <we were fairly unique, the sixty of us, in that there wasn’t one good mixer in the bunch — J. D. Salinger>
which definition should the OP have relied on?
IMO the term “unique” is used in a unique manner in MMOs. Worse, there’s no way to know that unique has a particular meaning unless it bites you. Watch these forums and your see a post just like the OPs come up every month or so. To me, that indicates a problem.
None of the definitions above says “you can equip it only one,” That definition is a legacy from another MMO and if you don’t know the jargon you’re going to get kittened.
I doubt this is the only time the gear will be available. Celestial stats are too prevalent in the game. Sentinel stats could have been a one time thing as they mix with different combinations.
5600ish
I’ve been playing since October.
I arbitrarily recommend the mesmer over the thief. This is because the population in general seems to prefer mesmers to thieves. mesmers bring a lot of utility to a group (mainly portal, feedback, and timewarp) and are generally well accepted everywhere.
Thieves are not. Several months ago there was a nerf / buff (depending on your viewpoint, it’s complicate) to stealth where the enemy would not drop target when you stealth. The net effect is that invisibility is now less useful in PvE. The enemy just stands around and waits for you to reappear.
In general, I think that rallying is fine. But I think that removing the ability to rally against an outmanned enemy would help keep the game a little more balanced. (Although this may be difficult to implement)
Yeah, Bismuth didn’t necro the thread (I don’t think) someone else did first.
“…Livestream on July 16 at noon PDT with Game Director Colin Johanson, who will explain our Living World approach and take a look into the future.
http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2…”Hopefully this will silence some of the more vocal minority
You apparently are familiar with a different vocal minority. If anything this will inflame the forums.
You know, if this game had a monthly fee you’d have good reason to complain.
But it’s not enough.
Really sick of people using that as an excuse for everything Anet does. Everyone here paid for the game and a lot of the people here have spent even much or more since the game released on the store. Anet has even been quoted saying they make enough in this model that they won’t need true boxed expansions. Stop trying to use that as an excuse to make whatever they want and acting like the people playing and paying have no say just because we don’t “have a monthly fee”.
I feel like I’m justified to complain whenever someone wastes my time whether or not I’m paying them.
I don’t think it’s wrong to encourage people to login to the game on a regular basis. The benefits are that the world becomes more populated with people completing their daily achievements and getting their charged crystals. It also gives people a goal to work towards. You get a celestial piece every 5 days.
The downside is that usually (for me only) the daily content isn’t very much fun. At best its unobtrusive, for example, finding a power node is no big deal. I can do it in 5 minutes. If the daily stuff starts to take up a substantial portion of my play time, then I’ll start to associate the game with a chore, and not with fun. (even though there is fun to have with the game). That goes on long enough and I will leave the game (which may be good or bad depending on how much benefit GW2 receives from having me as a player given thakittens B2P).
However, another reason to time gate the crystals is to make a barrier to creating the armor/weapons. For some reason the gear and charged crystals are account bound (to make crafting profitable perhaps?) it may be that ANet wants it to be a bit of a slog so that some people sell the crystals (uncharged) on the market.
There are many moving pieces here.
Would it be wrong of the developers to encourage people to play their game every day?
From a developer-viewpoint, of course.
At the margins, because if you don’t log in everyday you get the sense of falling behind. Once someone feels like they’ve fallen far enough behind they don’t log on at all.
Sometimes if the slog is too long people decide not to do it. Especially for an account bound set of armor / weapons that most people will say is sub optimal all around.
I think it’s a balance that needs to be achieved.
Watch this for some tips on using the GS effectively.
http://sittingonacouch.com/l2play-with-shawn-buell-ep-3-gw2-mesmer-with-supcutie/
Edit: Another thought. You may have a lot of stuff in your bank that you can sell on the TP. You may want to check. Go to the bank and select the collections tab, then look for fine crafting materials.
(edited by TooBz.3065)
I agree, save it, you need somewhere in the neighborhood of 250K karma to get a full set of temple armor and another 250k if you want to get the trinkets.
9.
7 level 80s, 1 level 51, 1 level 2
Go for power first. Minor sigil of bloodlust is cheap and incredible at lower levels. Later get the major variety.
-baffled-
You realize this is part of the ‘charm’ to alts right? This is like saying ‘why do I have to redo the story on an alt’ or ‘why do i have to reunlock a mission’ (in gw1). Your alt is a completely different character, its a newborn. It hasn’t experienced the story, the world, whatever.
There are two different views to alts. The first is, as you suggest, each alt is its own unique “person” that needs to individually develop. The second view is that each alt is a different “suit” that the player puts on.
Depending on your view, you have a different outlook toward repeating content.
I vote for the slow, squishy mesmer or guardian.
Mesmers are slow out of combat, but they have excellent in combat mobility. They can be effective and very tanky with the right build, but also make excellent glass cannons. People are constantly coming up with new builds / variations, which is great. They can be difficult to get use to and are a pain to level the first time. (I’ve leveled two, the second one was easy)
Guardians are an all around great class. They are also somewhat slow. However, the builds tend to be a little more static. It’s like we’ve figured out the best ones and everyone goes with one of those.
