So … is this turning into “I don’t have those points so you shouldn’t either”? Cuz that’s what it looks like to me…
No, I think people just want a level playing field in this game.
Do other people having more points than you hurt your rewards? NO.
Its awesome how as soon as rewards are introduced people start crying and trying to take things away from others. I never played GW1 and I could give a kitten if people who did get 500 or 5000 AP from them. It doesnt hurt me at all and it rewards longtime fans.
@Kingzook – Pay to win?? What are they winning?
Some of you need to reevaluate your life if you think this is “unfair”, its a couple points in a video game. I would hate to see how you act in real life if this is causing you so much stress.
This is as sad as the people crying about dailies counting.
While I agree with what you are saying, I would like them to cap the daily rewards to the 5 you needed for the daily to prevent my OCD from forcing me to do all of them everyday
Maybe Anet can install some kind of hall monitor type thing to stop this outrageous behaviour of people helping people….or maybe, just maybe they have better things to be bothered about?
It’s helping sure, but it is also cheating and exploiting. It’s people getting something they didn’t work for and didn’t earn.
So what you are saying is me and some friends were exploiting/cheating when we invited others in the guild to get the cliffside kite achievement? or people joining a boss fight at the end and dealing enough damage to get the chest are cheating/exploiting because they didn’t work for it/do all the pre-quests?
I don’t know what kite achiev. you are talking about, haven’t done it yet so I can’t say one way or the other.
As far as the boss fight goes, if people come in and do enough damage to get credit for the kill then they are not cheating, they did what was required.
A player finishes first because someone let them. They did what the achievement required, they finished first…

I’m assuming you have already got the 500 chest YESTERDAY, and aren’t waiting for a second chest on the same day?
People need to EARN their achievements!
What is this word…“EARN”…the forums know not this term…
The once a day thing might be part of it (would be nice for them to tell us this…or for someone here to point it out to me in case I missed it), but I swear this has happened to me in new zones as well (less frequently).
I don’t understand how this is a luck based achievement…luck is involved sure, but luck is involved in everything.
Are you sure you got them all? I didn’t have any issue getting this achievement.
Did you do this on the same day? and not around reset time?
Is anyone else having an issue with the Fallen Kite Baskets? It seems like 25-50% of the time when I interact with these, I see the 2 loot-able bags drop, but then they flatten (like I looted them) without actually being able to loot them. Is their a cd on when you can open these things? But with that being said, it has happened to me on the first loot attempt too.
BTW, I am the one interacting with the baskets to get them to drop the 2 bags, this isn’t an issue with someone else opening the basket and me not arriving on time to loot the bags (although that is very annoying).
Sorry if this has been asked before, but search didn’t find anything and I’m not sure if this is a bug or not.
OMG the skin is soulbound…BUT…don’t loose hope with ANET yet (at least on this matter).
Open your Hero tab (H by default) and go down to the achievement section. In the overview, you should see a box with all your chosen skins that you can “withdraw” as many times as you want, on as many characters as you want.
It’s a regular karma event, or at least I didn’t get anything other then the few silver, karma and experience you get from any event.
I don’t think we need yet another topic on this but here goes. They start to spam their abilities when they reach close to 50% hp (from what I’ve noticed). Use this to your advantage. Both NPCs are ‘killable’ (without using exploits), they just require different strategies. For Adnul, try to save using water and belch for when his buff is up, and try to bluff non stop when his buff isn’t up.
Im actually really dissapointed that every rank gets the same reward… i mean i get it thakittens just for fun but they just COMPLETELY annihilated the purpose of winning. winners should atleast get a little extra of something imo.
You don’t. The higher you place, the more quartz crystals you get. I was noticing this yesterday.
No longer true. The patch tonight apparently removed the Quartz crystals from Sanctum Sprint entirely. How are we even to reliably get 25 per day now? Mining at the Bazaar yields about half of that, and the rest? (Finding kites is not reliable, considering how buggy they are and difficult to even find one that works.)
You can buy supply boxes from the vendors
You can buy them directly from the Tp
You can open kite boxes that are scattered throughout the world
You can mine your home instance nodeI’ve gotten about 500 crystals so far, they are pretty easy to get.
edit also if you enter a race mid-way it says in GIANT letters on the top of your screen that since you entered a race in progress it will be considered a practice race and you will not be rewarded a chest until the next race starts.
They also drop from bags (on top of the material in the bag).
Back on topic, I don’t mind so much joining a race already in progress, what I think they should remove is joining a race so far in that you don’t get a reward for completing it (the races that tell you at the start you will get nothing for this race).
From what I’ve noticed, the rewards are now the same, regardless of position. To the poster that said first place got a back piece, that was simply luck, as I’ve yet to get anything good for first place, but I’ve gotten a few rares (including back pieces) from other positions (first back was when I ranked 8th or something).
It’s optio….bring a mesmer buddy that can port you back up when you fall :P
Yes, I maxed out the Diving achievement (again anet…please stop raising the bar on something we maxed out and give us another achivement for it…) at 38/38 after jumping off with the goggles.
You can get this exotic once per character, I would prefer them not to introduce a new easy to get and inexhaustible source of ecto.
Create new character -> run to the wp -> get ported to chest -> free exotic that you can salvage…ya nty
Seriously, it’s bad enough that it’s SOULBOUND on acquire, but I can’t even salvage this worthless piece of junk for a couple ectos?
You can get it on ANY character that completes the puzzle, why wouldn’t it be soulbound. It’s just like the clockwork tower boots, only with stats most people don’t want (my only complaint for the FREE exotic).
EDIT: IMO you should be allowed to vendor or mystic forge the item, but you can…
Title should read “Metrica Jumping Puzzle = Permanent Ban”, as it’s just 1 puzzle (from what people are posting) and that puzzle is not new.
If you notice many of the boots that show the other 2 toes are actually the toe sticking out of the boot (not all boots, but many do this I’ve noticed). Would be nice for them to fix all the skin issues (with charr too), but that might be a bit much to ask….it will come…eventually…5 years from now…
Edit: On a side note, please stop cutting off my characters hair or facial hair with certain helmets
MOST of the people that probably have no problems with this dungeon are probably still enjoying it in game or doing something else. Vocal minority (imo) =/= the majority.
BTW, completed this multiple times with multiple toons, each time we only had 1 guardian at most in the group, and even then the didn’t always take swiftness/staff.
Please don’t state your opinion as fact. It’s not. It’s exactly that, your opinion. YOU think that most people probably have no problems with this dungeon. YOU think the vocal minority are the ones who find this dungeon overtuned.
If you read what I wrote, I never stated anything as fact. Key words: Probably and imo (in my opinion). Good try though.
Moa race will stay after Dragon Bash ended?
Yes, it’s a permanent addition to the game.
Why don’t you delete your post instead of trolling?
My skill is just fine. In fact, I’m usually the one that gets marked for the other people to follow.
The dungeon is overtuned.
Period.I pugged this 5 times now and they all failed on the last boss during the canon phase. Every time we grouped up and ran in a circle. Sometimes you stay ahead of the red circles, sometimes they are right on top of you so you have to dodge roll out. You only have to get unlucky a couple of times and you are down, and you cannot be saved.
The last run we got the boss to 25%. Why? Because we had a Guardian tossing out swiftness.
Look at the dulfy video: they had 4 guardians.
4.
Over tuned
Please don’t state your opinion as fact. It’s not. It’s exactly that, your opinion. YOU think it’s overtuned, and before you come back with “look at the number of posts about this, it’s clear I’m right” please remember…

It’s also possible to jump over the mini lasers, although I have not been able to reproduce this to 100% success.
It was in the TP for a sec before they removed it. I think I remember seeing a post about it coming later.
The cannon fire IS NOT RANDOM. Instead of running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off, maybe try new strategies. Have your party group up and run TOGETHER around in a clockwise or counter-clockwise pattern. You can avoid most, if not all cannon fire (and no, a run speed or vigor IS NOT needed to complete this task).
Alternatively, have your whole team spread out, and have everyone simply take small steps to spots without red circles. There are always gaps in between the red circles, where you can stand safely. By spreading out, the red circles will be less clustered, and there will be more safe spots. Both methods are effective.
Absolutely this works too. I just wanted to make the point that the cannon fire is not random at all.
Here is something that works really well to survive the bombs barrage at 75, 50 and 25% HP. I read a tip about this in dulfy and I’ve elaborated on it a bit from my experience.
Before the fight, pact with your group a point in the arena where you will all go, and a particular team member to use as reference (the biggest and brightest one).
When you see the boss is reaching each 25% of her HP, make everyone go to that point so yo’re all together when the bombs start.
Once the bombardment starts, you all start running in circles around the dungeon (also pact the direction of the circle run so no one gets confused), using the the designed team member as a reference.
The reason for this is that the bombs barrages are directed for each player, so when everyone moves randomly, you’re making others fall in your bombs when you cross paths, so by running together you only have to worry about a very big barrage aimed at the same point.
You have to move fast BUT it’s very important you don’t move TOO fast. The team must stay together all the time so always keep an eye on the rest of the group and NEVER let them behid. Always use area swiftness over personal swiftness. If you rush it and leave them behind you will kill them as they will be in the place where the bombs aimed at you will explode.
The third barrage is specially large, so be patient and always keep the group together.
Another note is to not resurrect anyone until Mai Trin returns as it’s possible everyone would die doing so.
For my experience if at least 3 survive the barrage you will be fine. The players tasked with resurrecting must remember that Mai Trin tends to teleport to the farthest player, so be prepared for an assault (this extends to players with low life running away, the most dangerous place is far from her, if you want to wait safely for your heal cooldown stay in a medium distance). Even if only 2 survive, if one of the is a good tank you can still do it.
I hope this helps, and good luck!
Thank you for posting this. Hopefully more people will learn how to do this boss encounter and stop calling for nerfs (okay, maybe lower the duration on the cannon phases to make this fight a little kitten ring).
Just wanted to add that if only 2 survive, one doesn’t have to be a good tank, just be able to kite in circles on the far side of the room. Have the ressing member watch Mai Trin while ressing and when she points at you (and you’ll hear a lightning effect at the same time) dodge away. I ran this last night with 4 people who had never been, and 3 of them died every barrage, so me and the other surviving member needed to kite/rez every phase, and never had any issues.
This is by far the worst instance ANet has made.
I’m fairly certain they never even play-tested this instance.
Let me try to spell it out for the ANet team:

Explain what brain cells are required to avoid the random canon fire. It’s RANDOM and sometimes you CANNOT avoid it. How is that a test of skiill?

Miss the days when people would run a dungeon for at least a few days to a week before coming to the forums yelling for nerfs…

I didn’t see this in the patch notes, and am hoping it’s a bug…but when Claw of Jormag entered phase 2…his health reset back to full, turning this already long fight into something even longer. Please tell me this is a bug,
Sorry for the poor quality ss, on my laptop atm. I included the timers just to show how long the fight had been going on for (almost 30mins).
API might be down due to the incoming patch..
A transmuted legendary item does show up on the vendor list.
I have to ask, do your bags have any kind of organisation?? I see whites and items you probably use mixed together (fractal weapon for example).
give mes a new condition, Panic. Target 5 Foes in the area gain panic, whenever they are balled up together (130 – melee range), they will rupt each others skills when activated. Also give enemy mes this abiilty to cast on players.
I could just see the chaos this would cause with a world boss mes. Would be great to fraps!
The Bad:
1) Dragon Ball. While I loved this game when you had non-afk people, the number of games in which this happened was very very low. Most games was a blow out one way or the other with just 1 afk. Why? Cuz with 1 afk person, you would almost always loose 1 other (due to rage quitting or just leaving to join another game). Now it’s a 5v3, and unless your 3 were much better then the other 5, numbers alone would cause you to loose. I did have 1 match where I was the ONLY member on my team (I think 1 other person joined mid way through and left almost instantly). Game ended 280-500, but this was only cuz the other team I knew I was all alone and we were doing 1v1 or 1v2 death matches for a lil bit near the end for fun.
I don’t know if it was the poor rewards that caused this, or the lack of penalty for leaving mid match. Maybe a bit of both, but in the future, I hope that they add some form of penalty for leaving, and maybe slightly better rewards (1-3 coffer for loosing, 5-10 for winning). The main point of these events is to enjoy them, but 1 coffer reward for winning seems like a slap in the face.
2)The Coffers… Like many have pointed out, the drop rate on these things is either way too low, or way too random (I know random is random…hear me out). I’m one of those poor individuals who has opened over 7k common coffers (30 rich as well). I have yet to get a ticket. I’m more disapointed then anything else at this point, and hope that anet makes improvements for future events based on what’s going on. I know many people that have opened less then 250 common chests, and have at least 1-3 tickets. I also personally know someone that opened a stack in front of me and got 4 tickets from that stack. RNG is RNG. I know a while ago they were looking into the possibility that some accounts/characters get less drops then others, but I’ll leave that to conspiracy theorists.
My suggestion to fix this in the future: Via achievements, give everyone 1 ticket (meta achieve for getting all of the event achievements for example, including or excluding pvp ones). That way everyone CAN get a ticket if they want, and can farm for more should they choose. I would NOT suggest making them trade-able (as much as I would love a skin from this event) as the prices from Halloween/SAB have shown us how high these go.
3) Set time for limited time events. Don’t have events go off on in-game events like “at dawn” since we have no way of knowing the exact time “dawn” is in game. I got the achievement via the bugged overflow prior to firework event thing that many encountered, but still wanted to “see” the fireworks. There was no in game message when the fireworks were starting, and being forced to be in certain areas to get the achievement meant a lot of people were around when they went off. Add in the fact that camera angles in this game aren’t the best (no first person view, and at least in my server, many people LOVE to fire off AoE abilities when large groups of people are in one area.
(this one will sound strange to some)
4) Non-afkable Moa races. I don’t know why, but I LOVED 9 rings. It was a guaranteed money sink over the long run, but I wanted that achievement! I have no problem with money sinks in the game. But make them so I can afk while doing them, and please don’t force me to make a bet every few minutes
5) Rich Dragon Coffers. With whats being reported, these were just as big a waste as buying the consortium chests. IMO, give the skins a chance at dropping from BL Chests against (like you use to before these last 2 events). The skins can remain account bound for all I care, but at least when you don’t get a skin, you get a random assortement of other gem store items (boosts, dye, whatever else). The introduction of these new cash only chests just seems like the wrong path to go in order to keep players interested in buying them since the rewards you get when you fail to get a skin amount to a few copper to maybe a few silver only.
Just my 2c
The Good:
1) Dragon Ball. When you got in a game with actually living people that weren’t afk, I had a blast.
2) Decorations. I’m always pleased with how they decorate the town (maybe a bit more decorations in the other capitols, the main hub is what really matters). Looking forward to new versions on the MF!
3) Very high drop rate on coffers from everything. Big improvement over the last chests (I’m fine with low drop rate on weapon skins…kinda, more on this later).
4) Free mini pet package. This was really nice of them, and it makes it a little easier for those of us that NEED to own every pet (only need to buy 1 package instead of 2 this time).
5) 3 new combat helms! Finally a reward that I can enjoy while killing creatures (would have really liked to fight things with the witches hat…or earmuffs!) Was great of them to offer 3 helms instead of the ticket letting you choose 1 of the 3.
6) Very nice art on (some of ) the new weapon skins…now if only we had a more reliable way to get them…which leads me to…
Gah, people like this is why the game has so many issues. Now we can’t even get articles posted in a timely manner because someone is raging about it being Anet’s fault that they consciously read an article that spoiled something for them.
No that’s not why the game has so many issues. And you can’t consciously read something that has no warning and appears. They could have had 1 degree of seperation at least so you had to click on a link to find out the information. How would that have been hard?
Just to play devils advocate, you know people would only then complain that Anet is forcing people to go to their site instead of presenting the information upfront… Sometimes (okay often) you just can’t please people.
If you want to ascend your back piece that has a different skin on it, you will need to get a whole new backpiece, ascend it, then transmute your old back onto the new one. If you wanted the pack piece skin on another toon, then transmuting it to a white then back to the new ascended piece should work (assuming you can still do this). Either way, the backpiece with the altered skin can’t be upgraded directly, it has to be transmuted onto another item with the stats you intend to keep (ascended stats in your case).
So they have no utilities that are good, except the best buffs in the game? Care to explain how that’s a bad thing? (Not disagreeing about a lot of their utilities being crap…but look at the other classes, most don’t touch a minimum of 60-75% of their utilities on a regular basis)
What’s weird about this is that you seem to agree with me, but for some reason keep arguing this point…
Yes, Might and Fury are the best buffs for PvE, because PvE is based around pure damage. If in some weird alternate universe, mobs would get a debuff that makes them take 80% more damage while chilled, people would be crying all over the forums about how the Ele/Necro/Whatever trinity needs nerfing.
This game is balanced around PvP. Guess how usefull Might and Fury is in PvP. Guess how useful a warrior is in PvP. Warriors are terribly balanced in this game when it comes to survivability and utility, they just have a niche that they happen to fill better than anything other profession: pumping mad DPS. And because PvE is a ‘dodge or die’ situation in almost all of them, all you need is a couple of people that know when to dodge and can keep pumping DPS in between, which is why warriors SEEM OP, but they’re actually really not.
Anet needs to fix their PvE, not their classes.
Why are you guys going on and on about if warrior is good or not? This is out of topic. The post is about PvE and it being too easy and unrewarding.
If you make a thread about anything in PvE that might attract elitists (like myself), you better get prepared for a bumpy ride, because your thread is going to spend most of it time completely derailed.
I keep arguing? I posted once about what you said…
This game isn’t balanced around PvP. They specifically differentiates PvE and PvP (ignore where WvW stands for the moment), or at least they are trying. If they go the same route GW1 took, which it looks like they are (albeit slowly), certain skills will be drastically different between PvP and PvE.
Fury and Might are not why warriors aren’t that great in PvP, but that’s a topic for a PvP thread (and not this derailed PvE thread). The only reason for my post came out of confusion about your claim that (paraphrasing) warriors have crap utility, but bring the best buffs. It’s contradictory.
I’m not a part of the Nerf Warriors into the ground fan club. I think that they are actually in a very nice place. They just have 1 ability that needs to be reworked or at least looked into in PvE (Hundred Blades).
Why are you guys going on and on about if warrior is good or not? This is out of topic. The post is about PvE and it being too easy and unrewarding.
Actually, this is a post about someone claiming they talk for the majority of PvE players when they don’t. Hence why it got derailed in less then 1 page.
Buffing all other classes to be up on the warrior’s OP status would mean that every class would be able to run all 5 man content solo. That’s exactly how bad it is. Denying it won’t change it.
Although what you’re saying is true: buffing all other classes would make it possible for them to run the soloable content solo (because fyi, no all paths can be solo’ed, CoF p1, Arah p1, CoE p3 etc), it still doesn’t validate your request for nerfing warrior and buffing the rest so they surpass warrior.
You fail to see the bigger picture. The warrior was designed to be the class that could do the most damage in melee range. They are a damage class that has terrible utilities outside of Fury and Might. It just happens to be the case Fury and Might are the most wanted boons in PvE.
The problem with warriors does not lie with the class. It lies with the lack of depth and mechanics in the PvE.
While I agree with most of your other posts, this one is wrong (parts of it anyway). The thief was designed to be the class that could do the most damage in melee range. Warriors were designed to be able to stay in longer. But to be honest, arguing this point is futile, since the description they gave most classes isn’t very accurate at all.
. They are a damage class that has terrible utilities outside of Fury and Might. It just happens to be the case Fury and Might are the most wanted boons in PvE.

I’m sorry if this has been brought up already, and if this is in the wrong forums (search function didn’t pull up anything with “invisible”…).
Is their any way you guys could make ALL chests incorporeal? I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been stuck in a chest (either when it spawned or “porting” to a spot that has an invisible chest) and been forced to use a waypoint to get out (kinda hard while in combat). I know it’s possible, since not all chests are solid, so could we get all of them to act this way?
The chests from a lot of the world bosses act this way (The magnificent chest from Ulgoth for example, the glorious chest from the Frozen Maw event is another).
Thanks for reading.
Well over 3k coffers, 0 tickets so far

Seems they got their “Buff”. We shall just see how much they were buffed…
more hp???? Really wtf!? how is this relevant? So let me understand this everyone wants them to be harder? Why? Apparently they never saw Winter’s Day mobs, those were near godlike dmg and hp. And everyone wants more of it. Being a low level it was IMPOSSIBLE to farm those things and you guys want more of that crap? Some people farm them solo you know and not in groups, what about them? Sad day indeed in GW2. This is ridiculous >.>
They can die in low level zones in less than a second. i.e. lots of people couldn’t tag them to get the coffers even if they try. Raising their health so they’ll survive long enough for the tag is natural.
There’s a difference between raising their health so people can tag them and raising them to “godlike hp”. Just ask the guardians how much health they’ve added to their spirit weapons and how godlike that made them.
They are quite hard to deal with solo now. With the 3 second invulnerability buff when spawned, their naturally hard hitting attacks, and now higher hp; they’re really overtuned. Add insult to injury, they can attack us while invulnerable. They’re tougher than the mobs surrounding the area.
I could deal with a group in Dregehaunt Cliffs in 3 seconds flat. Now, takes about 20 seconds and with me coming a lot closer to death. Please do something about this ArenaNet.
“Farm lower lv zones” is what this patch screams at me. Why bother fight things that might kill you when you can screw over lower lv players by farmer their zones :S

From what I’ve noticed, this patch didn’t increase their health by a lot, if at all. They are invulnerable for like 2-3 seconds after spawning, but they still die in 1-2 hits (in lower lv zones anyway). So the problem some people have with not being able to tag the mobs will still be around I think.
So I used your Etiquette today. I let a mesmer get closer to the projector. I activated it, he proceeded to lay down his speed line, pulled all the mobs away, then shattered all his clones killing all 4 mobs instantly. He did this while I was still on the ground. Screw etiquette, or it will screw you first. Sorry for the rage
Heres what i got, 4k gems worth on 50 rich coffer boxes = 55-65g no ticket.
400 regular coffers boxes = 35-40g, i got 8 mini pets and 1 ticket… so ye i made back around 10g and got a ticket just from buying the regular coffers off the TP.
I spend almost as much on the rich coffers with the same result, closing in on 500 regular coffers and so far only 3 minis with no skins. All I want is the stupid axe!
You’ve put your finger on a significant issue with the reward system in GW2.
Much of the lack of challenge came from rushing this game to beat Mists of Pandaria (or whatever it’s called). You can see that traits and skills were hastily designed, and that dungeon bosses had to be given the Defiant band aid because there really wasn’t enough time to design meaningful encounters.
ArenaNet announced the release date of Guild Wars 2 before Blizzard announced the release date for Mists of Pandaria.
MOP was rushed out to compete with GWII, not the other way around.
That said, it is fairly easy to see that GWII was rushed out as well. It just wasn’t rushed out in order to compete with anything.
Unfortunately, most games these days seem to be rushed out with the idea that all will be fixed once the game is live (and once they know how much interest is in their game). This is something I hate, but most of us (myself included) seem to fall for it every time (who wants to wait a year or 2 to buy a game just so we get the product that should have been released….we want to play the game NOW!).
Back to the OP, I would love skins that are a reward for certain challenges (ie some achievements granting a certain skin unlock), but then you have to think…what achievements are their in game that can’t simply be grinded out?
Sorry if this was posted already, but something just occurred to me after finishing a bug report in game. The bug I’m talking about is when you complete the Karka Queen event but don’t get a chest (either daily or big chest) at the successful completion of the event. A few hours ago I completed the Queen event on a character after multiple failed attempts (not enough people showed up and she timed out). Once we finally killed her, no chest(s). About 10 minutes ago I just completed the Queen event on another character (daily reset is still 5 hours away) and got both the bonus chest and the big chest.
Could the failed attempts be blocking access to the chests when that character that failed previously finally succeeds in killing the Queen? Just a thought. I know this might not be a bug per say, but I’ve seen multiple people saying they can’t see the chest, some of those players I know where with me on previous failed attempts.
I placed second in that match, and was forced to stay another round in order to get my daily win.
Sorry, I kinda stopped at this point. So you were forced to play more then 1 match to get your daily Crab Toss Champion done (aka 1 person per match gets this). Wow, sense of entitlement much?
Don’t look now, but from how they describe the dragon event, more RNG chests are on their way (hopefully we can earn them by other means then just dumb luck on drops).
…and the angry forum posters slink aware quietly to their dark, dank basement rooms to the soft glow of GW2 world….
On a semi-related note, I put in a ticket, just like the message told me to (one of the 2 error messages I’m getting trying to log on), and wow….it asks you to prove you are a real live boy like 3 times. Once during log in, once after submitting the ticket, and once after I told them my ticket wasn’t answered in their faq… Why the distrust anet
