Can it really be so hard to see that some of us enjoy crafting and would like to be able to say “I made all my gear” and have little interest in obtaining it through other ways?

Some of us feel like all crafting professions should be equal at 500 and an appropriate title given for completion, which we would wear proudly. Like there is for level 400 which makes little sense.

Team vs. Solo: Which Do You Prefer?

Tumult.2578

This is kind of a confusing question. A couple years ago I was the only player there when the golem world boss came up. It scaled down properly and I was about 60 seconds from soloing it when 2 players came along and helped finish it.
Playing solo is more an attitude of not wanting to delay others, or have them delay us. We pick our goal and try. Actually playing content solo is kind of rare. Seldom is it finished solo. But we didn’t have to be delayed with grouping and others preparation and we don’t delay them. Time is important. Standing around waiting and preparation delay is the single biggest complaint displayed over group play. I get ready and start content with the expectation that eventually others will join, but it’s ok if they don’t.
So yes, I am also a solo player, ……. to start with.

Massively multiplayer means nothing more than lot’s of players in the game, period. None have to play anything together but they can. Anything else is simply personal opinion, based on preference. The game encourages group play but there is no requirement or serious expectation of that happening.

Those options do not address the time gating required for celestial armor, both in obtaining the resource needed, and in crafting of the needed component.

There seems to be some confusion over the two different kinds of Legendary Weapons.

The original Legendary Weapons have set lists of components needed but they require no Hot content to obtain, only the Precursor needs to be looted by the player. The New Legendary Weapons require doing Hot content to make the Precursor and then make the Weapon. The original Precursors can be purchased from the Market but the new Precursors must be made and are not sellable.

I fully support this. The increased difficulty involved in making Celestial armor is not rewarded properly. The time delay and added cost adds no significant advantage over other armor without the delay and cost.

You will get a lot of push back from the players who don’t understand Celestial or don’t want to take the time to make it, or who spend countless hours trying to perfect their individual setup, or can’t use it in raids, but you are correct that the description language is incorrect and the Expertise and Concentration should be added. I see no reason to reduce any other of Celestial Armors stats to accomplish it and nobody has given one. There is no reason they need to leave it alone simply because they have been around awhile. Change sometimes requires more change. This is long overdue.

I would suggest starting with the armor and skipping pushing the runes change until we see how a armor change would affect things.

I understand exactly how you feel. It may be for slightly different reasons though. We start out making whatever precursor we get and that can be a real issue if we like one type of content but the eventual Legendary weapon doesn’t fit that content or play style.
I think it would be cool if we got a one time option when we loot a precursor, on three different precursors. Ranged, Melee and Underwater would give players a more specific long term goal to go for, and help the Devs with understanding player preference.
I bet if you have a legendary, then you have many other cool skins. Try mixing them up.
I played a multi armor type, multicolored, for awhile and it was easy to pick out in a crowd but pretty absurd looking. Maybe there is a way to farm transmutation crystals that would make experimentation easier too.

Finally, considering the time and effort involved in obtaining one, I’d think many players would like to see more adjustments made to Legendary Weapons looks and visual effects, even at the cost of some new content.

The BoH Vendor has nothing to do with it. You don’t recognize the Big Spender daily achievement? Walking from the waypoint to the Seige vendor is hardly active WvW gameplay. How about the Karmic converter that randomly gives a Box of WvW Supplies?

Try to remain current.

Wow and tie well over 80 days to get enough dailies to complete a reward track that can be Afk’ed through 4 hrs bahahaha

That’s pointless when it generally takes longer than that to collect all the other resources and components and gifts needed to make a Legendary weapon.

That is not the point!

Your opinion is only your opinion, as is mine. Yours is not more important.

The expectation of ever increasingly difficult new content is not sustainable. That was proven with the first year story. It’s not that hard a concept really. There is no way to constantly put out this type of content without a huge staff, amazing creativity, stunningly coordination, totally structured and prepared and over funded.

So why try to force players who enjoy the game now to prepare for a more difficult game that they won’t play?

If maybe 5% of the player base is involved in raids then logic says most players don’t want a more complicated game. Perhaps you should look at what others want before telling us how the game we like needs to change to fit your likely minority opinion.

I really enjoy this break from the usual smash and grab. I know it’s not for everyone but lot’s of us really enjoy it!
It may be a little harder to enjoy next year as nearly all the rewards obtained by Bauble Bubbles have been achieved. My main account was done last year and frankly, I understand the shot back on spirit shards, after the talk on the forums about them, but that only makes a point for a few players. Many of us have a wealth of them and it makes the SAB effort somewhat pointless. Can we get a hardmode for pve maps?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tumult.2578

Tumult.2578

If you want a hard mode, then the game is too easy for you and you need your rewards reduced because they are too easy to get. More difficult content should rarely grant greater reward. The time, effort, cost, etc…spent by Anet on the harder content is the reward your asking for. How about a nice title for that extra effort? Yeah, thought so.

Probably, you want more, better rewards, regardless of whether more difficult content was added or not.

More likely, threads like this will start making more players ask for easier content in Hot and Raids. That request is just as serious and important as yours.

Masteries are not repeatable and I don’t want them wasting resources to create a system that allows that just so the holdouts that don’t feel like maxing their masteries don’t waste their XP.

They don’t need to “create” anything, just unlock the raid mastery track without having to deal with entitled salts who want to dictate others’ play experiences.
Flip one switch, and boom, this entire argument dissipates (instead of coming up every week).

Did it ever occur that they actually want players to complete at least one raid which is why the mastery line is locked behind it?

Requiring casual players to complete a raid in order to obtain non-raid related rewards for playing non-raid content is bad design. Raids, in most games, are participated in by less than 5% of the population. Nothing non-raid related should ever be locked behind content that such a small minority of players enjoy.

Casual has nothing to do with this. There are several raid encounters that can be done successfully with a random group of players with two of them being the very first encounter. The gain of a spirit shard from leveling is a game mode wide reward. It’s not just an open world reward system. It’s not just a dungeon reward system. It’s a PvE system.

This has everything to do with being a casual player. I will never do a raid in this game. They can add a legendary reward and it still won’t happen. I hate raids and always will. I bought this game because it didn’t have them. If they become required I will find another game without them.

Did it never occur to you that It has nothing to do with being able to win. It’s a shame so many can’t see that.

I like the map and the activities but designing parts of a personal story to have one purpose only, which is a revival orb sink, is absolute failure.
If you can’t design personal story content that has the same approximate difficulty level across all character types, then make the rewards for the more challenging stuff greater, and leave the story completion and meta events more easy to complete and have them lead up to that final challenge.
As it is now, if a player gets stopped part way through, the entire rest of the story is wasted. Keep players in the story but add your economy sinks at the end.

There are about 7 of these items, that can give you inventory space back or something much better to store in that space. Three are from this years story I believe.

Of course, I’m not certain. There are too many variables. The ones sticking out like sore thumbs though are the significant cost drops and the continuing comments that wvw is steadily loosing players.
Do we have any idea’s as to why those two things would not be significant to the falling prices? Perhaps players are just flush with gold, but even if they were, wouldn’t they be buying mats instead of precursors?
Maybe there are just more players making them now, but I suspect there are just more players buying to avoid playing. If things remain unchanged, it should become more obvious. There still seems to be plenty of players who want a first version Legendary…

Personally, I will be going back into WvW soon.

Just wait some more, instead of doing something about it, and they will all be dirt cheap and worthless. I hope you enjoy it then, like you would any other blue or green weapon. Actually looking at the requirements, I thought Bifrost was relatively simple to make compared to some of the others.

It matters very much, and I don’t see this changing. The single biggest effect on the value of the first precursors is required play in an unpopular game mode.
Make the Gift of Battle available outside that mode, or make that game mode fun enough to want to play, and those precursors will regain value back.
Otherwise it’s basically free fall till they are sold at vendors.

I could never figure why they didn’t set like a 50k cap on AP and record on the leaderboards the date achieved. Then they could continue rewarding like they do now, on into the future, and stop penalizing people for wanting to use the good established system of starting out each time by doing a few fun and/or straightforward tasks that move us around the maps hopefully generating interest.

I suspect I will never understand because I’m close to that cap.

Many suggestions don’t put any consideration into these unavoidable things yet they should probably be one of our first considerations when making suggestions.

Tumult.2578

Your problem, it seems, is that you spent way too much time exploiting the mm runs and now that it’s fixed you don’t get the same thrill. This is not a problem with the game, but a problem with your mindset. Might I recommend taking some time doing something that doesn’t involve gathering loot as the primary goal? Level an alt, do the first tier of a legendary journey, get in on a raid training run.

100% on target. Was waiting for the post-nerf post to come, and here it be.

I couldn’t disagree more. We don’t make the game. We play the game they give us. They could have stopped this on day one. When they didn’t they created the expectation it was acceptable. You can recommend all you want but we each have different likes and dislikes so it’s kind of pointless. The “problem” is not player based or mindset based. It was created and established by the devs.

Also I did not find it toxic at all. It just required some fairly basic understanding of groups and how they work, which was beyond some players current understanding.
A long running activity is simply not an exploit until the Devs make the change to end an exploit and despite this having several ways to exploit, they left it alone.

The Asura’s home instance is not comparable with the Norns. Not even close. There are a wealth of good idea’s about home instances, including a thread asking to add ranger pets and a large aquarium for aquatic pets. So many good ideas that I don’t think would affect the rest of the game as a whole so they might be cost effective. But it would require a much more standard basic home instance for each race than we have now.

Most importantly, these would be changes that would be fun based and not challenge based so they would make a lot of the players who are unhappy with the challenge changes, happy to see some interesting activities and options added and there is no reward at issue here either. They could even add things that would help players become more proficient through tests designed to show them how.

I suspect this is not really possible. The changes you propose are dependent on the Dev’s being able to make broad changes across the board and given all the changes that have been added over the years and the changes in staff, I kind of doubt it can be done without absolutely huge costs. Many of the balance changes happening 4 and a half years later are not a basic change but instead a buffing or usual nerfing of skills, weapons etc.
If a balance pass is in the near future, wouldn’t they both have to happen at the same time. Wont you get a massive push back from the medium and light armor wearers because I don’t think they should have the same vitality as heavy armor wearers?
I like the basic idea but I think the time, effort and money required to do it makes it cost prohibitive.
