Made a set of light, medium and heavy Ascended celestial and glad I did.
Each new class of character I make is much easier to do, having access to solid defense and then swapping out pieces as my abilities with each new class progresses.

Oddly, with Celestial, I never felt a real need for the level of defense that Adrenal Health gives in addition, and have found the discipline line more helpful than defense in PvE Hot or core Tyria. Some things in HoT are so overpowered or unavoidable that your just gonna die whatever your using…

There are like 4 of these Daily JP threads now and I suspect they will likely be merged.
While the easiest adjustment may not be the best, it’s the most likely.
Simply rewarding only the JP chest for actually doing the JP, and rewarding the daily rewards only for completing the JP when it’s a Daily (regardless of whether the player was ported) is likely the easiest solution. Just sayin…

You can all assume that each of the daily tasks take about the same time, like 1 to 15 minutes. They should. If they make something that takes players longer to get the 2 gold than they can by many other ways, why would they do it?

For me, a jumping puzzle takes about an hour, and mesmer portals are a cheat.
If and when I do the last 4 remaining jumping puzzles, I guarantee it won’t be for a daily reward ever.

I’m glad so many find the JP’s easy. They simply are not an equitable task compared to the other dailys for many of us, not for lack of effort.

You’ve retooled you PVE gear because of PVP changes? I’m calling you out on that one. They don’t use the same gear, so why would anything BUT gear changed due to PVP affect the gear you use in PVE? PVE gear needs are determined by getting as much offense as you can with a little defense as you need. I’ve yet to see such a dramatic change due to PVP changes that would make anyone rethink that.

Besides, even if it did … it’s not really a reason to cry about it … games evolve, meta changes … to think you won’t want to adjust your gear because of game changes that happen in an MMO is nonsensical in the first place, regardless of where they happen. Any MMO veteran almost expects game changes to affect how they play, gear they use, etc…

Thanks, I needed a good laugh!

It’s really obvious that the PvP crowd is not seeing the PVE’s issue here.
Guess what? The requested change doesn’t affect PvP. No PvP player will get upset over loosing gear to a balance change because PvP gear is free.

In PvE we spend a lot of time gathering resources so we can improve and eventually max out our crafting skills. Then we spend a lot more time gathering resources again to actually craft a weapon. Since this balance pass affects mesmer, lets talk ranger.
Some Rangers went through that gathering and crafting process and eventually crafted an ascended shortbow. In my case, about 2 weeks later a balance pass made the shortbow totally unusable entirely because of how it was used in PvP. So, it has sat in my inventory for years. Now that a whimsical balance pass made conditions worthwhile again it might actually get used.

There is an enormous difference in how we obtain gear in both game modes. To me, it’s more important to protect the value of what we have achieved in the game, than it is to balance one game mode regardless of what it destroys in the other two modes.

You may not want more than 2 characters and that’s fine. The issue is that once you make level 80, a lot of the rewards setup in game are designed specifically to help us create additional level 80 characters. It’s a system that works fairly well because it gives the player a lot more freedom and options, and as those characters become level 80, we want more characters to use the next rewards on, so we buy more character slots, bags, stuff, which is good for the game.

Sometimes there’s just isn’t a big group on each map. I’d suggest trying to get into a world boss group/squad so you can get an idea of where and when the groups are on the core Tyria maps. You may not be interested in world bosses for PvE but you may be able to form groups from there that will PvE where you want.
The Hot maps seem to run in cycles so it’s unlikely you will find many available groups in the maps that don’t have a meta event going. Most Players join the meta event groups/squads. If you look at the 4 hot maps in the LFG tool, one will have the meta event and likely a number of groups.

I’m confused why you would think we would post here when we know it’s not seen because it’s not on Reddit? There are threads with hundreds of posts without so much as a response. Why would we assume it would be seen now?
Want is not a question here. The possibility of actually being seen is. There have been thousands of ignored posts asking for the separation during balancing. If they were seen, there would have been a response by now.
That is why it won’t happen.

That’s just it, “hundreds of posts without so much as a response.” Everyone with an opinion about what should be balanced, and all of ‘em different in some way… imo that makes them not worth paying any serious attention to… but I’m not ANet.

I’m suggesting instead of putting forth your own opinion into the nauseating cacophony, or complaining because your perspective on balance isn’t being paid attention to, instead ask what their opinion/vision/perspective is… try and get get an understanding of balance that doesn’t originate from your own bias.

For my own part I don’t predicate my enjoyment of a game on a concept of balance… I’m interested in what the Balance Team might have to say, but I’ve no real pony in that race. It’s just a suggestion to constructively address an issue that so many get kitten-hurt over every time something is adjusted.

Knee-jerk crying whenever there’s a balance change, or putting forth yet another suggestion for balance in the hundreds that already exist doesn’t seem to be working. Try something new if it means so much to y’all.

~EW

That makes sense then. This is the place to post an attempt to organize it. I feel somewhat indifferent to the balance issues too. The “separate balance” posts flood these forums after each pass, but there are simply too many issues blocking success. The only way to actually prove anything is with data withheld by Anet, like actual population in each part of the game, money spent from there…. stuff that won’t happen. I also suspect Anet is experiencing an issue with how reliable their feedback is if HoT was less successful than expected, and may be struggling with just who to listen too, and from where. I’ve basically stopped crafting anything but a Legendary because anything can, and has, been nerfed to valueless in one simple pass.

Then start a thread/petition requesting the elusive Balance Team appear on an AMA.

If they do, you can get their perspective on how they see and approach balance, so you’re not approaching the idea solely from your own view, assumptions, and expectations.

~EW

It shouldn’t be the responsibility of the player base to make such a request seeing as how this has been a hot topic since launch. In Guild Wars 1 we received highly detailed reports of the reasons behind changes to skills and why they were split or merged. There’s no reason why today’s Anet can’t do the same.

It is the responsibility of the player base to inform the company of what it wants. Heck, that’s the majority of the threads in these forums. If enough people want something, and it’s feasible for them to do so, the company will provide.

Stop expecting the company to read your mind, or to pay attention to sparse comments. Consolidate the request to make your voices louder. Other than myself I’ve not seen ANYONE suggest the balance team be on an AMA (hence why I don’t expect it to happen… more people need to want it).

So Gunflame doesn’t make sense to me any more. Doesn’t it seem that the single weapon in the game most likely to pierce to it’s full range is the rifle?
Don’t magical attacks trigger when they hit, like do physical damage, explode, stun, stuff that doesn’t pierce.
Don’t melee weapons do all kinds of attacks, at short range?
So the bows and rifle and pistol should have the ability to pierce at range and the longbow is setup for aoe and the shortbow for quick condition damage, so the pistol should be able to project a bullet that can pierce and a rifle should be able to pierce farther.
Yet we now have a rifle that lost its projectile speed but still has exploding ammo?
I don’t get it. Most rifle skills should pierce first and foremost. With damage and other effects tied to cooldowns and supporting skills.

Wouldn’t the proper motivation be to improve the chest rewards for those who enjoy this content and not start considering it PvE category content for inclusion in the Dailies, when so many struggle with it, especially in the created zergs?

Why not more PvE options like that Daddicus said. I don’t do WvW or PvP. So the 4 options for PvE is lacking. (Happy for all the people who do the PvP, JPs, WvW. Glad you enjoy them and can DO them. I can’t and don’t, so don’t tell me to do them. )

Since the change, the number of PvE dailies that I can actually do has dropped significantly. The number of choices is 4….you have to do 3 of those. So basically no real options in PvE. ( Again…don’t tell me to do PvP or WvW. I don’t consider them a valid alternative to PvE. )

More PvE options are needed, not trying to push non PvP players into those areas or adding JPs that are near impossible to do.

gosh, there are usually 4-6 really really easy dailies that can be done in < 10 mins with minimal effort, frequently without even pitting yourself against other players (because people like to cooperate to complete the dailies). if only you would step outside your comfort zone long enough to try it out.

more options are not needed.

youre defending your closed mind and trying to preemptively cut off a response like mine with your post. but a response like mine is exactly the response a post like yours deserves.

seriously. daily farm custom arenas are not pvp. theyre pve. the sooner you knock it into your head the easier itll be for you to check off dailies.

I suspect you are confusing a player who Doesn’t do WvW or PvP after thoroughly trying both, with a player who has not tried both.
Why would you make that assumption without asking?
Isn’t it possible they are fine with either game mode but don’t enjoy the players there?

I’m glad too that you like PvP. Some of us would simply rather try soloing the Vinewrath. We both paid the same for the game so we both get to enjoy the parts we like. My “closed mind” lol, wont change because of your likes or dislikes, ever.

There are “PvE servers” for PvP where players can get their dailies without having to engage in actual PvP. Several of the WvW dailies don’t require interacting with any players.

There’s a group of PvE players that want more PvE options after they completely disregard 8 other possible choices for dailies. There are even those that go further and do the same for specific PvE dailies that they don’t want to do such as JP’s and adventures. Any reduction in choices is completely caused by the players themselves.

I agree. It’s a choice made that results in 2 less gold, which we can make in many other ways in about the same time.

You’re the one saying you can’t solo a waypoint.
And what are you on about?
People aren’t suggesting using the LFG tool to solo content, you use the LFG tool when you CAN’T solo content and want/need some help.

I never said I can’t solo a waypoint. I didn’t start this thread.
Many posters in this thread have suggested using the LFG tool to help solo content including you.
If I have trouble solo’ing anything, and I can’t find more info from other sources, I group up to complete the content, but I don’t have to.

If any players intent is to solo the content then the LFG tool is no help. That’s all I was saying. Stop trying to attack me because you think I think it’s necessary to solo everything. I don’t. I do wish more players would break out of the zerg and learn a little more about the game on their own though.

I strongly suspect that the considerable majority of players are in PvE most, if not all of the time.
What I don’t understand is why are there PvE dailies if the intent is to motivate players to try content they haven’t tried?

Along with that goes the question: "if they try the suggested non PvE dailies enough times to confidently say they simply enjoy PvE more, how do you respond to those supposed majority of players that love the concept of the dailies and how it leads them into the game, and want reward for what they are doing?

I realize this goes beyond the JP/WB discussion but aren’t these the questions Anet should be discussing?

When the original poster (Not me, or the game) wants to solo specific content, whether that content is a waypoint or a mastery point or a whole map, how can suggesting they use the LFG tool help them SOLO the content?

But thanks for offering it once again.

“I can’t get to that waypoint” – change your build to add swiftness or toughness or stealth.
“I can’t solo this mastery point” – change your build, pick a different point to commune at.
“I can’t solo the whole map” – change your build, watch some videos, accept that some content is group content in an MMO.

I’m sorry you want to solo everything and it’s not possible. No wait, I’m not. Group for group content. Group for content you can’t solo. Group for fun and profit.

“I should be able to solo”
I’m sorry you can’t but I’ve done most of it solo and it wasn’t that hard. You might just not be very good at something. Without specific examples it’s hard to say but not being able to solo a waypoint or commune at a hero point amused me.

Whose intent? Yours or the games? If there is content you can’t solo then you use the LFG tool. You can often use the LFG tool to get somewhere – a taxi – and then leave the group so you are in a populated map but still able to do your own thing.

I’ve played a bunch of fps games where I just couldn’t solo the last boss. How I wish someone could co-op join and help me. Yet here where there are hundreds of people who just want to help, some people insist on failing to solo well.

Precursors still drop, can be obtained in the Mystic Forge and purchased from the market.

Why is it so hard to understand the desire to succeed at some achievements solo?
Not all but certainly some. I don’t believe I have learned much about the game or being a better player while in a zerg. It’s so hard to see what effect we are actually having in that zerg. That can happen in a 5 man group too. Try keeping track of the map layout and what connects where, when your cruising through content in a zerg. It’s so much easier to track solo. As we near completion of a Hot zone, even the LFG often fails to provide any meaningful help. Sometimes for me, an achievement is meaningless if there is no visible evidence that I had any individual effect, beyond a few damage numbers floating away…

Referring players to the LFG is simply not always a legitimate response.

They’ve already earned it. You get 2 gifts of exploration for your first map completion. It’s an account bound item. All the OP is asking for is another use for the spare gifts so they can unlock parts of the world on alts.

Where is the buy to win with that ?

It’s not buying to win. When you ask for so much for so little effort it’s begging to win.
The Gift of Exploration has one use. It is used in making a legendary weapon.
You get 2 for map completion. You get to make 2 Legendary weapons. That’s what you get.

The OP doesn’t want to use it as intended. They want the considerable task of map completion for an additional character, now for free.

A regular team, setup and designed to gain guild halls for profit would likely do well if handled correctly. There certainly is a market. It might take a while to work out all the kinks and fix prices but don’t think for a second that solo players cant pay. Many have the remnants of the old guild halls and would like to regain all the buffs they have in inaccessable storage.

I suspect these minor tweeks and lot’s of checking data is not what you were asking for.
Strictly for PvE, Celestial gear will allow you to have the higher (not highest) stats for the power and damage you need and higher (not the highest) stats for defense. Celestrial gear is time gated when crafting it so it can take awhile to accumulate what works best for you.
As you near level 80 you can buy rings and accessories with laurels, they already come with the celestial option. If you choose this way, you will eventually become too strong on defense and want to do more damage so as you obtain better gear you can start using more power oriented inscriptions and insignia’s on that new gear.

I had one older character in ascended celestial gear that handled HoT much better than my others and used it to get through the maps for waypoints and didn’t die much at all.

More dailies needed per day

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tumult.2578

Tumult.2578

The specific purpose of Dailys is to get us to play in all parts of the game.

I think if that were true then it wouldn’t even be possible to clear them using only one round. Like it would require you to do at least one of each mode. Hell, while the current dailies might get you to do a little “not-PvE”, if you’re already a PvPer then you have no issue just doing the PvP ones, and they’re the ones most in need of branching out.

This has been a gradually changing thing. The Daily Achievements were ended because too many players were getting burned out trying to do all 10 achieves every day to stay on top of the leaderboard. They got many complaints and finally changed it. There were lots of players who were not concerned with leaderboards doing the minimum 3 for credit because they enjoyed how it sort of “opened the game each day”. It drew us further into the game.
So instead of simply eliminating it, they retained a minimum 3 and more clearly separated them for us to play and used it as a tool to continue to coax us into all parts of the game. They introduced the log in rewards to make up for what was lost from doing all 10 achieves and because most other games were doing it.
It started as a fun part of the game but was changed to a tool for moving us in to other parts of the game. Now it is continuing in it’s evolution and it’s intent has become even more clear, so, we get threads asking to reverse the process, to give us what we had. It’s not working great as a motivator yet but it’s still changing. What you suggest here that I quoted may very well be the next version of Dailies.

There are legitimate reasons for doing it this way, whether we want it or not.
If one of your goals was to make the game a big e-sport/spectator money maker, do you see a better way to coax players into PvP? I bet they’d love to hear your ideas.

More dailies needed per day

Tumult.2578

This was all hashed out after the last change. Lot’s of us didn’t like the change but guess what. It’s not about fun, it’s about the company making money. No money, no fun game. Simple as that. For whatever reasons, they want us involved in all parts of the game, or at least to try it all. It is their right to try to motivate us by bribing us with rewards for doing it.

But the practical purpose for dailies, the primary purpose, is not “to get players out of their comfort zone.” The Primary purpose is “to get you to show up every day and do something that involves engaging with the game.” That’s it. The log-in reward gets you to at least log in every day and then log out, the daily missions are there so that, once you’ve logged in, you at least set out and play some of the game, perhaps getting caught up in it enough to play a little more even if you hadn’t intended to.

That is the primary purpose of the daily mission.

Now, “getting players out of their comfort zone” can be a secondary goal, but if the available options are too inconvenient then a player will choose to do none of them, rather than all of them.

That’s all your interpretation of what it should be. I wish it were so too. The purpose changed. The Daily Achievements were changed to log in rewards and dailies. The log in rewards are to get you here. The game and the gem shop are the purpose. The specific purpose of Dailys is to get us to play in all parts of the game. Your primary purpose and secondary purpose were reversed when the last change was made.
There’s no such thing as a daily mission.

Dailies do not exist to be fun. Dailies do not exist to provide rewards. Dailies do not exist for any reason other than to incentivize people to participate in content that they do not normally do, whether it’s moving them to underplayed maps, into PvP, or into WvW.

Asking for them to make it easier to complete Dailies without doing content you don’t normally do is pretty pointless, since it will never happen as it directly conflicts with the entire point of the dailies.

Having read the speculation in this thread I’d just like to say Thank You for this accurate statement.

You are asking for more options in this area where the developers have been instructed to provide less.

Seriously, If you can find out specifically why they want us playing all parts of the game, and then come up with a way that they can benefit more from changing to a system with more options, then all you have to do is convince everyone else that wants something, that your issue is more important.
“I want it because it’s more fun” just ain’t enough to get this done.

Personally, I play what I enjoy but gradually try new stuff. There’s plenty of other fun ways to make a couple gold.

I spent the 2 minutes doing the Karka Queen for my 2 gold.

I know. It’s simple with the Asura gates to have access to most of the map areas. Then it’s just taking different routes to do events. After that 20 minutes, there’s little effort until you are most of the way and need to grab the more out of the way spots. And this way surprisingly, when it’s done, it wasn’t that hard.

I have 3 with map completion and I agree that after several successes, a way to speed up the process would be nice. This suggestion isn’t about getting some kind of credit for past effort in map completion.
Map completion is a big part of the journey to legendary weapons. You can buy everything else in that journey but map completion should be earned, period.

Playing for map completion would be actually going to all areas of the map.
Your suggesting playing PvP for map completion.

I’d agree with the basins, doubloons, gemstones, blade shards and crystals. There is not much need for accumulating large numbers of the others. My opinion.

I believe this is totally unnecessary after receiving the boost to level 80.
This alone makes map completion very simple.
Most players with map completion started on a low level character so this was a huge boost.
Add in the fact that the WvW stuff isn’t even required anymore and I find this suggestion pretty absurd.
It’s just more pay to win .

If we can make 2 gold, in many ways, in roughly the same amount of time, why do we need to do the Daily Events? Certainly not because of the name Daily.
If we have tried content, and didn’t enjoy it, there’s no reason to do it. There’s plenty of other things to do and ways to make the gold.

I understand how this helps players to try all the content. It might seem like being forced to play content we didn’t enjoy but it’s not. The Daily Events are not more easy or accessible to do than simple harvesting or npc combat or World Boss Zerg play that will still net us roughly the same amount of gold.

While more options might be nice, ultimately, we simply don’t have to do them.

Don’t need a mount.
Don’t want a mount.
Don’t want development time and effort spent on it.
That massive “beat the dead horse” thread made that very clear.

But keep making threads about it,
if you have some new compelling info on it.

Whoa! This is not more gold through just playing the game.

This is straight up paying us to play their HoT content.

Gotta say I didn’t expect that. I though they might try to explain more about how HoT works. Where and when events happen there and how to find them.
