Thoroughly enjoy the Festivals and SAB is my favorite, even if I’m not that great at it.
Thank You !
I understand exactly what you are saying. That’s what we’ve experienced in the past. However if you actually check, you will see that all 4 chests are awarded for just a few tags at the end.
Was upset when I saw the loss of the jumping pads before the event and left to gather some resources there. Wasn’t much and when I circled back Teq was still going so I tagged it at the end and got all 4. Tested it again with an account with HoT and 4 chests again.
Dropped loot is not the only place to get a precursor.
Regardless of HoT’s precursors availability issue and limited number,
the Mystic Forge still provides for those lucky and persistent gamblers…
Warrior gives you power and heavy armor, strong enough to get you through with ranged or melee, and swiftness and leaps for the slow areas. Great for Pve and map completion. Just don’t fight any other players.
It looks like all the Jumping Pads are now Launching Pads and they haven’t changed for a few days. Looks like they’re done.
It might take a couple hits but you might want to Recheck that full credit thing Andraus.
Seriously? This is your plan? To make non HoT players (with paid accounts)
stop doing Teq? More failed maps? More angry players?
You have to realize that when you take away content that was paid for, and it’s been used for a long time, the players will feel isolated and cheated. They will then act the same way and you made them that way.
Get ready for more failed maps and specifically, full maps that look half full because lots of non HoT players are on the map and not playing, but showing up at the end to tag the boss for full rewards.
Was this what you were going for?
Remember, Dungeons are now/still required to achieve most of the Legendary weapons for players who don’t PvP.
You might like something more difficult now, but it is still needed content and required by some.
Try spending some time looking for a dev tracker response to a warrior issue.
If you think they are watching this forum and have plenty of good ideas but are searching for what we want the most, I applaud your perseverance.
Short of a total revamp, I don’t think they know what to do.
If they cant finish legendaries, where is the time for a big warrior fix?
Pretty sure this issue has been fixed already. Having a HoT and non HoT account, it was obvious right away when it changed. I think they were trying to add the ability to glide which wasn’t there before at Teq and Shatterer. They were simple jumping pads just like in Lion’s Arch. Now they send us lower and faster and allow gliding at the end and they work as jumping pads for non HoT accounts too. I’m assuming they are fixed at the Shatterer also.
Thank You Anet!
So yeah, The fix I was seeing was not permanent. These Jumping Pads work differently for some characters without HoT, and differently from day to day. Sorry if I misled anyone. I hope this gets fixed soon.
Persistent forum bug
Don’t most of us look at new or returning content, get an idea of what we want, or what we think we can achieve, and then strive for it? Gw2’s way of keeping us interested and playing was by providing new content with new goals and rewards.
As much as I enjoy Sab I strongly suspect that once I had achieved those goals I had set,
I would lose interest in it. Aren’t most of us risk/reward oriented? Without reward, Sab’s risk and effort would become pointless.
It seems to me that a lot of us are struggling with the HoT maps because it’s just difficult to know how to get where you want to go even after you have unlocked that part of the map. I’m not suggesting that the maps be exposed before being done, but we need better tools to work through those maps. Many players simply give up saying it’s too confusing, and until you have it memorized it is confusing. I don’t think that is part of the harder content we asked for.
Try entering a very large brand new building, walking through many of the halls, twisting and turning, and a few hours later, come out and point north on a cloudy day. Most of us can’t do that. I know from real life job retention rates.
I think better mapping skills that show how the different types of travel combined, can get you where you want to go, would be one of the best ways to help refill those maps.
Or they could do something that would include the mass of casual players without guild halls because it’s not realistic to expect they will ever get one by now, with the current requirements and we kind of want/need as many players as we can get to keep the game rolling along.
Not saying the biggest best, but something that includes them. Many have never seen a guild hall… by choice because of the current requirements.
I don’t think sending players to other games is a good idea. I also doubt Sab is pulling many players from Hot for long. It sure does seem popular with the more casual players though.
I think four weeks, twice a year, would keep the interest of the players who enjoy it and it’s unlikely they would earn all the rewards too quickly.
If they were able to run the “Festivals” on a regular and expanded schedule, and fix most of their bugs, I think a lot of the casual players would be more accepting of whatever kind of updates they decide to do.

Ageless forum bug
I am very afraid of wasting my time on things that are NOT FUN.
To answer the OP. The people still playing this game would like even more time gating of crafting Legendaries to drive up their prices to reduce PAY to WIN. The opposite of what the company wants.
If anything in this game should be earned, it’s Legendaries.
So you are saying the Jumping pads have no affect and should be removed.
Sounds like you stick to the megalaser. It is easier.
Anything that slows you down in a timed event can affect your potential results.
I like being able to glide too but I’m sick of the core game being robbed to support a failing expansion.
How will Teq go for most players if the core game players, AREN’T THERE?!
This gave them a good reason not to show up.
Jumping Pads didn’t work at Teq or in Lion’s Arch for mine.
Might reduce chance at gold level for some….
For those who are trying to learn the game in PvE before moving to the other areas, and have, oh say 20 or so levels done, how about giving a rifle and two swords a try. This setup wont cost much and will let you experiment with the power rifle and also 2 condition damage swords. From here you can get an idea of which you prefer and you can see how a warriors skills and traits work with a power or “condi” build.
Both of these weapon sets are relatively easy to use and give you both melee and ranged attacks. You can learn how to stay at range with the rifle, to close with it, or swap and close with the swords, and how to then fight melee. If the melee becomes too much of a challenge, you can see how swapping back to the rifle will allow you to evade back to ranged. As you become more proficient, you can switch the off hand sword to learn the other offhand weapons skills.
This setup really allows enough variety to learn most of the Warriors game mechanics, enough damage to win your fights and allows you to place as much defense on your armor as needed.
Then when your more comfortable with the game you can switch to our only really viable level 80 weapon, the greatsword. (ugh)
The Rangers are all using Shortbows. They are just called Longbows now. The Shortbow was overused and the Longbow was underused so in a “balance” patch they destroyed the Shortbow to force use of the Longbow. Years, and many improvements to the Longbow later, it’s being used like the Shortbow was at the start and they’ve started balancing back the other way by giving the Shortbow’s condition damage more meaning.
Isn’t this really about selling storage space? All the other needed mats will overstock in inventories generating and increasing sales on storage methods. Of course people stockpile with hopes of eventual use.
I think I understand. Threw me with the title for a minute.
You actually want an element of gameplay missing.
The first 50 or 60 levels designed for new players.
Gonna be a lonely game sooner that way.
I think just about everyone wants the game to be fun for everyone else. The more the merrier goes a long way. We just don’t seem to do a very good job of relaying that when we raise a discussion on an issue because we focus in on the issue and not on how it can affect everyone else. When we pick sides, we stop working on solving the issue together and work towards individual goals that usually prevent solution, (much like politics).
Is it possible to work towards removing some of the in game requirements or restrictions in ways that don’t reduce difficulty, but allow more freedom so that we can all enjoy achieving our individual goals in the game within the areas or parts of the game we enjoy?
I don’t mean changing time gated things. I mean making most loot rewarding achievements obtainable in any area of the game, based on level of success, with possible skin variances, based on level of success.
Why would it matter then whether you enjoy specific content or not, as long as enough enjoy it to keep that part of the game going?
A one handed rifle for PvE would be nice.
Currently only 3 skills are needed/used 99% of the time, on a rifle in PvE.
Shouldn’t be too difficult to make. You mean like a pistol lol
I mean a one handed rifle. That’s all rifle is in PvE now.
3 skills should be one handed.
You do know normal conventions are not usable here. I can throw an axe farther than I can shoot a shortbow.
You can easily argue either side, if you ignore the past.
Bottom line?
A lot of us have stopped spending money in this game.
Either the raiders will suck it up and start paying that money
or things will change back.
It’s ONLY about the money.
A one handed rifle for PvE would be nice.

Not sure how you will drum up support for areas of a game most of us haven’t played.
A map helps but they are all still unknowns to most of us.
I hope you realize that dungeons are a very small part of PvE and getting smaller. Everyone there is angry over what has happened to Dungeons.
There are still nice helpful players there but it’s becoming more and more a solo or small group thing so it’s harder to just “fall in” with those players.
Just for a little perspective, imagine you now are required to do the event in Diessa plateau “Put on a cow disguise and demonstrate techniques to the cows” 150 times to achieve a legendary armor piece.
This is how many paying casual players view, one single raid.
If you really want to influence casual players to become involved in raids, start there.
Wait another month or two, till many more players have left and ask again.
It will be more popular then, with fewer responses.
Hard is not gating everything behind ridiculous requirements just to slow down advancement. Hard is not making people wait to play your game. Hard is not forcing people into content they don’t enjoy.
Hard is content that absorbs your interest and has enough difficulty to assure constant repeated success doesn’t happen.
An interesting mechanic in each encounter with simple effective scaling over gating and blocking works much better. This is where your middle ground is between the elite and the casual if you want to keep as many as possible of them both.
Pre order, ………NO!
This is the monster you’ve created.
Will you continue to dump more and more resources into extremely short lived content for what appears to be a significantly smaller player base?
You have to know there’s no such thing as permanent content for hard core players.
If it wasn’t so sad this thread would be humorous.
Only one person has brought up the significant fact that rewards matter.
The one question I have is if you consider yourself a hard core gamer, would you still play the harder content you enjoy if the rewards are the same as for casual content?
So is it the harder content you want, or is it the better rewards?
lets make sure we are discussing what really matters here.
I have seen how long they generally last until bordem sets in. Constant repetitive easy and constant difficult content =/= fun. Please do not take the “my way or the hiway” definition of what fun is.
Focusing on the elite playerbase was a bad idea – they are finicky and are in a constant demand for instant gratification – Even after effort is put in all another game developer has to do is flash something shiny and BAM! there they go – it’s a no win situation.
Talking serious mode : Holler at me when one of those upcoming “fun” games hits the year mark and still is active.
I would but you’ll likely be gone to the first game thats comes along saying its challenging.
(edited by Tumult.2578)
Expecting a letter from medicare in a few months.
I’d blame the “no child left behind” program for why the average posting age is much higher.
Or, post here what you want to do specifically and ask if there are others wanting the same thing. Players have always found ways of circumventing poor design.
I bet there are plenty of smaller guilds struggling with the same issue.
Why not organize a joint guild hall hunt over a period of time and try to get everyone interested and willing to contribute, their own guild hall along with yours. You get it, they get it, and you might make some friends along the way.
Don’t quit if it isn’t easy or if people don’t see it here right away. Enough numbers will work for everyone involved.
Have you seen some of the new games coming out? They are going for fun, not challenge. You got the raids you wanted. ALOT didn’t get what they wanted.
Clearly, challenging does not necessarily equal fun.
Now watch the casual player base, and their money, dwindle away.
I wish there was something positive here but I don’t see it.
Hard content alone will not sustain this game. Fun content will.
They’re sitting backwards on the horse right now.
1 looted in 3 years here. Although it’s not like it’s easy to tell you have a precursor.
A little blue text somewhere near the bottom of the items description is not that recognizable, assuming you looked at the item description. I bet many have been sold for base value.
Considering it’s likely the most important LOOT you will ever make in the game, I think a Precursor drop should be announced map wide by the game system and the item itself should be almost flashing red and green.
Oh, in all that time my luck has been 6 times better in the mystic forge.
(edited by Tumult.2578)
Precursors can still be made in the MF and require the Gift of Mastery to make into a legendary weapon. Map completion is a required part of obtaining the Gift of Mastery.
Any change to map reveal would have to include this in it’s calculation/creation.
Considering they have been trying to get away from the whole daily achievement point
thing, I find it more likely that they will eliminate the dailies rather than expand them.
The other thing to consider is what lesson did the developers learn from Hot. I suspect a big part of that is not to listen to a few players.
The intent of the design was to make the weapon more viable in competitive play. The rifle’s not “unbalanced” because you have an evade tied to a skill that just gained a longer immob.
Frankly, if you can’t be bothered to press space bar to avoid rolling off a cliff, then the l2p issue isn’t with Ross.
How’s that working for you now?
It may have been a glitch but when the Teq fight was over and I collected the chest, there was some poison of concern so I ran towards and actually into the water, and was sucked down just as/after Teq splashed dead in the water farther out.
Might want to try this.
The symbol showing an upcoming lightning attack from the Shatterer is not appearing.
This is the same symbol that appears in the silverwastes when we are about to be attacked by bees. Without the symbol telegraphing the attack, it’s impossible to know when to dodge. The only time this symbol appeared was at the end of the lost fight when everything gets attacked by the lightning when the Shatterer leaves.
Many repeated attempts failed to generate the symbol, resulting in death.
Did anyone bother to read the OP?
Is it just automatic now to hijack a thread to insert whatever you believe personally, regardless of what the topic is?
Hot gated Exploration
Very clearly portrayed.
You may be totally used to circumventing the masses of vines blocking access to many areas. Remember when it was new? Did you try to accomplish as much as possible without help? That’s the difference.
You might feel thrilled or empowered by getting your achievements done in a zerg.
Some players eventually want actual individual accomplishment.
Hot goes a long way towards discouraging that.
Chants of “do it with your guild” are as pointless as “help with maps” to an individual trying to explore.
Thank You ANet that You made Heart of Thorns!
