It’s also good to remember that the player characters are not only individuals, they are exceptional individuals. Even if their choice of profession were to be considered odd by the majority of their people, that would in no way go against lore, as there have always been and will always be individuals that stick out from the majority. And the player characters definitely stick out.
In real life, we can make a lot of things fly in various ways. How come jetpacks aren’t in military use? Because they aren’t practical. There’s your answer.
Also would help if they gave chart and asura the female body part….thete even was a fan art about this…asura made a boob translocator so norn sylvria a human where boobless and charr and Asura had boobs lol
It also makes it so they can’t copy and paste the male version
No. No no no. No. I trust I don’t have to say more.
There is no gear gap. Gear is no factor in PvP, you select your stats and upgrades from PvP Build window. A few of the options can be unlocked with gold, but they aren’t really better than those that are available from the start.
For example “Guard” ranger skill, should reveal 5 targets that are in stealth and prevent them to re-stealth for 10 seconds in range of 1200.
There is no counter to stealth, and even if people use full stealth builds they still have full burst potential, this should be countered on some way and punished! And now is the time to get new skills where expansion is on the doors to create some balance in the game.
Actually the Ranger skill “Sic’um” is suppose to reveal but me and a friend tested it out with his mesmer and it did nothing. I wrote up a bug report on it shrugs
You’re using it wrong, then. Sic ‘em is a targeted shout, so you can’t use it on a target already in stealth. However, when you successfully use it, it applies the revealed effect for 6 seconds, preventing the target from entering stealth.
This is the third thread so far I’ve seen about this. Anyone want to take bets how many pop up before merge?
Razah is not a demon.
“The protomatter that makes up the Mists strains toward creation, often spawning demonic creations in nightmarish forms. Not all creatures from the Mists are demonic, however. When the Mists come into contact with a suitable human template, for example, it can copy that form, creating a sentient entity with humanoid appearance and an almost human mind.
Razah is one such creation. It has sprung into being a fully-formed adult. It has the knowledge and capabilities of a human, but lacks common sense. As a result, it asks odd questions about human emotions, contemplates human motivations, and attempts to duplicate human mannerisms. Razah is a contradiction: more than human in some ways, and less than human in others. It needs an identity, a personality, and a purpose. Hopefully, it will find its purpose by working with a hero. Otherwise, it could degenerate into an abomination as monstrous and inhuman as its demonic brethren"
- The Guild Wars Nightfall Manuscripts
He is a sentient entity of the mists built as a human construct. It does say that if it does not have a purpose then it can degenerate into a demon.
I never did say he was a demon, much less demonic.
“Demons are more than creatures of the Mists – they are made from the Mists themselves, bits of etheric matter that have gained malignant sentience and power. "
-The Guild Wars Nightfall Manuscripts
What I’m saying is that how Razah came to be is the exact same way demons come to be. However, unlike ordinary demons, he was born as an empty slate, tabula rasa. In addition, we have no name for sentient entities born of the mists without that malignity. Razah is the only sure case of such that we know of – Fractals of the Mists might house them, but we don’t know how sentient the entities in those are (it would be rather horrifying if they are fully sentient, indeed).
What it comes down to is that out of the two groups, human and demon, Razah is closer to demon in nature, even if he is very humane. In a way, he’s the polar opposite of margonites – a humane demon (pardon me for using the word here) as opposed to demonic humans.
Also, do note that demonic and demon are not synonyms.
The first pic looks quite shopped, but that aside, it’s confirmed that Tengu were originally planned to be one of the playable races, it’s mentioned in the Collector’s Edition book.
No, but adding such a function to the F skills would bring major overlap with Guard, and that skill would require a rework. I suppose I could have said that from beginning, now that I think about it, as the whole intent is not that obvious from just linking the skill.
Razah is a rather special case, as his birth was like that of a demon, but because of Abaddon’s demise, he came to be a blank slate of sorts. The wiki doesn’t say Razah is human, only that by game mechanics he’s recognized as a human. Lorewise, he’s no more human than sylvari are – both are in more or less the shape of a human, but that doesn’t make them quite human. His birth was by all facts that of a demon.
I think the ability to lay one of the other atk’s on F5 would be absolutely amazing.
Or even the ability to ground-target movement of the pet to a certain point would be pretty useful (obviously with a limited cast and leash-range of like 1200).
This. It’s hard to appreciate big beautiful open areas when structures on the other side don’t render, and half the screen is is covered in a strangely thick fog.
Well, if you look at it at a certain way, with the latest major patch, player characters did get a power up across the board…
For engineers, you might be interested in talking to Iogaer at Snow Leopard Lodge in Hoelbrak.
I don’t think there were any backpack skins at all when the game first released.
Wrong. One of the engineer optional starting items is a backpack, and has always been, and the guild backpacks were there since the launch as well. Visible back items were few, for sure, but there were some.
Vitality and toughness factor in on the aggro calculation, as does proximity. Thumper Turret and bear pets have immense HP pools, making them aggro magnets. I’m quite certain those skills and pets don’t have any special flags to cause extra aggro.
Traherne will be the final boss.
At least he has lines recorded already for a pull skill – “Commander, to me.”
And that’s not even going into what is going on outside the Tyrian subcontinent. The isolationist policies of the Canthan emperor and the tensions within, the undead reign of Palawa Joko… Really, this game won’t run out of potential to expand during it’s lifespan.
I was under the impression of Sons of Svanir simply killing female norn if they’re being corrupted. Generally, where there are norn and icebrood, there are SoS. It doesn’t really have to have anything to do with the motives of the dragon.
My advice? Get to know the people around you. All content is fun with a friend by your side.
Shiro was the bodyguard of the Canthan emperor Angsiyan. He betrayed his liege at the behest of a demon in service of Abaddon, and when he was struck down, his death wail turned Jade Sea into, well, Jade, and Echovald Forest into stone. Centuries later, he came back as the main antagonist of the Factions storyline, where he sought for a way to return to living. That’s the short version, anyways.
The text inland reads “new boat”, and the text on the coast reads “old boat”.
Personally, I’ve always associated the name with deer. I don’t really know why, though, other than the similarity to “stag”.
That’s normal, the damage numbers that pop up show the total amount of damage dealt without a pause, and many attacks are fast enough to keep the number rising. It has no bearing on gameplay whatsoever.
If that is Rytlock in the picture (he looks a bit slim to be him to my eyes), he seems to have changed his shoulder armor and is now carrying a two handed weapon on his back. Or maybe he just has a very large left pauldron and bare right shoulder. Either way, his gear doesn’t seem to match what we’ve seen on Rytlock.
Guild Wars 2 suffers from a lot of inconsistency that really punishes you for trying to resolve it.

It’s a “living world” supposedly, but most everything is simply ‘there’. For instance, there were no devourers in Ascalon areas before the Searing.
- 3
Charr burned people alive because they were psycho. Motivated by religious reasons or not, it is NOT okay to burn people alive. Those Ascalonians that survived it either became the Ebonhawke or went to Ascalonian Settlement. The Charr have been bashing on the Ebonhawke doors all that time. Who has played Guild Wars 1 or suffered any form of Racial persecution would for a moment believe the Separatists to be a minor story element? There are more Separatists in the game than there are Ebonhawke. The visual plotholes emphasize narrative plots holes the size of Valles Marineris.
Because humans never ever did anything atrocious to the charr, and have always been the victims.
Well, I went and checked Altar of Glaust, but came out with nothing of particular note. The altar uses basic Orr style assets, no runes, no glyphs. Only thing special there is the bright light at the end of the ritual, bright bluish light.
Ah, got those two mixed up, wasn’t ingame and couldn’t be bothered to check through wiki. My bad.
Krytan top, Magitech leggings, TA gloves and shoulders. Not sure about the boots.
Equal numbers does not equal equality. It’s not inequality if there are more powerful characters of one gender than the other just as long as neither is universally shown as worse – just as it isn’t equality to demand a powerful character of either gender for the sole purpose of equality. Equality is when such a thing stops being an issue.
You are not referring to a map. You are referring to a map texture. It’s never once used ingame in a way that would portray land at the north pole – as I stated in the post just above you, the globes in Priory library show that the continent doesn’t reach the north pole, the part that looks like the south pole on the texture is the northern edge of the continent.
“You are referring to a map texture. It’s never once used ingame in a way that would portray land at the north pole”
What does that even mean? All that does is prove my point… there is no north pole, because it’s not a bloody sphere.
“the continent doesn’t reach the north pole, the part that looks like the south pole on the texture is the northern edge of the continent.”
Which is impossible in case of a sphere, so thanks for once again proving my point.
You are missing the point. Your assumption is based on the texture connecting on the southern and northern edges. However, those edges aren’t the true edges of the map, based on the globe. Take a look at the attached image – do you recognize the northern shore? The map doesn’t warp around north-south, the texture is simply laid out in a way it’s not supposed to be looked at, for whatever reasons.
I’ll just point this out now.
Those globes use an entirely different texture, which can be found here. (note: original was on the wiki and was deleted, unfortunately) – the two are completely different textures, and the one on the globe only details Tyria, Elona, and Cantha. The super-continent of Tyria isn’t even the same between the two. Furthermore, the one of the globe you refer to is an ArenaNet alteration of this fan-made map seen here.
As you can see by the player-altered version of the texture, it did not show the landmasses now labeled “Gwen” “Yeh” Dahye" “Kim” “Arid” “Wetlands” “Sunken Islands” etc. It did have some land portrusions on and near the corners, but it is not a complete map of the world.
I’ll ask that_shaman to see if he can pull the globe’s map texture out, to see if that was changed at all.
I never claimed it was the same texture. The globe covers obstruct almost 7/8 of the globe, revealing only about a half of the Tyrian supercontinent – so what’s so strange about the other landmasses being out of sight? Only the visible part of the texture has any relevance, why would they bother making the texture for the full map if most of it isn’t visible?
And if the map is an altered map of the fanmade map, it’s heavily altered to include all GW2 changes, including rising of Orr, damming of Elon river and the addition of the northern shore – so what’d be the relevance in it being based on a fanmade map based on ingame maps of the first game?
To make it clear – I’m not trying to discredit the “world map” texture or the landmasses in it. I’m saying it’s borders are arbitrary and shouldn’t be taken as canon information, and that the proportions are off because of the map projection, or rather, the lack of it.
On the very corner of the visible area of the globe, you can see the shape of Frozen Gulley – the map projection on the “world map” just makes the objects near the poles appear far larger than they are, just as is with any map of a round object spread flat in a rectangle. You can see the land and water you marked on the globe further up on the “world map”, the northern sea of the world map texture just so happens to be on the southern edge, my guess is that it’s to make the texture continuous easier, like they did with the floor in the Priory library. But, as the edges of the “world map” texture are never used in the game as they are, they can’t be considered canon, which means the globe draws the northern shore correctly or at least is the most likely to hold true.
Twin cobras and a strange pattern… could be related to Forgotten, though that’s pretty much just from the snakes. Anyone feeling like taking a look at the Altar of Glaust to see if there are any matching patterns? Couldn’t find any pictures, I’ll go take a look tomorrow if no one else does.

Tyria is not a globe. It’s a Torus. A donut.
There’s absolutely no evidence to support that >.> (in fact most evidence points to the contrary, it would be a bit weird if a planet that’s littered with observatories had no clue that it was doughnut shaped). I’m going to assume that you’re saying that because the texture is a square… It’s a lot easier to make a square texture than one that will actually fit around a globe. Of course they could do it, but, as the giant map sitting right before me suggests, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with having a square map; square maps are usually a little bit easier for people to comprehend.
Do you even science?
Look at Earth’s map. Walk north of the north pole and you won’t magically appear on Antartica. The map of Tyria dictates a Torus shaped world.

A few things to note – If you look at the map texture where it’s used, in the priory library, the east-west sides line up, if not perfectly, but close enough – there’s only a small visible seam where the texture edges connect. Secondly, if you look at the globe model also found in the priory library, there is sea at the northern cap, and that huge straight coastline to the north is contracted a lot. I wouldn’t put the borders of the texture above that.
Well, she flat out says she knows the importance of the egg better than the rest of the DE – so, in other words, she knows something, and that something is her motivation for going rogue on us. As to what that something is, I don’t suppose anyone here might have any brilliant ideas?
I already get a headache from people writing “:)” or “)” after everything. It’s kinda like saying “Look, I am happy, do not misunderstand me!” after your every sentence. It’s annoying overexposure.
Subtlety is a virtue.
I don’t know if it was just my instance, but when I fought the last boss, Caithe did nothing during the fight… I’d say put on your tin foil hats, but seeing the current state of things…
The third attack of Marjory’s attack chain is new, a result of her training, whereas Rox’s unique barrage has always been like that.
Ah, I see. My best guess would be that the piece was reworked to portray a risen charr.
I’m not exactly sure where that one’s from (Kekai Kotaki’s website?), but another version was an unused piece of concept art for the canceled GW1 campaign Utopia.
Pretty sure that’s just the effect of ambient lighting.
I hate it when I have to kill skritt… but I hate getting killed by them more, so, my hand is forced. To grip my flamethrower. And to squeeze the trigger.
What I find annoying is that if I quit an episode, it will show as a silver star in the story log, even if I have all the achievements done. And the only way to get rid of that would be to play through the whole episode again. I don’t know if it’s just me, but to me, it feels nice seeing the full completion icon next to each episode, and those silver “mid progress” stars tarry that list.
Marjory’s sword practice – I felt like this part was a very well executed part of the story. If you missed it, in Return to Camp Resolve, you can see her practice with her sword on a dummy, and after the chat with DE, you can talk with her about it. Later, in Into the Labyrinth, you can see Marjory has added a new skill into her kitten nal, a spinning sword strike akin to the third strike of ranger GS #1. Meaning, she didn’t instantly master her new weapon, and that we can expect to see her improve more.
Dead pet doesn’t revive. Skill #3 revives pet if it is dead and orders it to revive you. Revived pet is able to revive the ranger. Now where’s the issue?
However, that blindfold model originates as the prop used by Kormir after Varesh’s puppy had it’s way with her eyes. So still goes further than EotN.
