I would rather they not change the current system. I have world map completion on 7 of 8 characters on one account, and 3 of 4 on another. Just uncovering map space and unlocking the POI’s, WP’s, Vista’s and HP’s in Tyria is the fastest way to level a character besides PvP (which I don’t do) and tomes (which I rarely have).

The key is to never stop moving, and go back for the hearts later. It takes me 17 to 23 minutes per level all the way to 80, and faster if I take them to Dry Top /Silverwastes/Maguuma around level 72.

I get that it may be annoying for some people, but I watch movies on a second monitor while doing it to make it bearable.

If they changed anything at this point, I would rather it be adding race changes to the gem store. All the achievements are account bound anyway, so almost no need for this last holdout. They could reset the story line so you have to do it again, whatever.

The only time I even notice armor/color scheme of other players is during Wintersday while doing the jump puzzle. And than, it’s only the obnoxious stuff where someone has gone out of their way to make their character take up as much space as is virtually possible in game, to seemingly troll people in jump puzzles.

They need to do what nearly every other game has done. Add a box that lets you turn off the effects of other players (which affects particle effects of friendly players). You could leave yours on, still see everything coming at you (enemy effects are still visible) and everything you do, but it would remove the graphic blur that is most boss fights in this game.

The loot is always meh, but the 75 zone currency is a huge loss. I’m not counting the time loss, since I would likely be playing anyway. Saw it again yesterday, the map is treating it as failed when the event was successful. Kind of annoying.

Why is it that completing a T4 map for Auric Basin consistantly fails to give map rewards to anyone? Hello…Anet…

Recently, I have been tracking this. I have been on 8 maps to successfully defend Tarir (all of which were T4). 7 out of 8 times, no one has gotten map rewards.

I have killed the oakhearts at every location (from the wiki) for multiple hours each except the fractal boss. Right now I’m camping Greatheart Weald farming the mobs and the (once every 10 minute) corrupt event.

Wondering if anyone else is having trouble getting the Nature Spirit item to drop from oakhearts. I’ve killed more than I can count at every oakheart spawn (on every map) over the last 3 days and still nothing. I have a few guildies that got it over a month ago, so wondering if a recent patch bugged this item.

There is no reason that they couldn’t make it “soulbound on use”. Karma is account bound now, so it only makes sense to update the karma vendor gear.

Finally get around to doing the story line. Get Mordremoth to half and while fighting Caithe, she is immune to the pull of the Rift. Every time. I have read the wiki, I know (and have seen) the pull bug, where Rytlock or Marjory don’t get pulled into the Rift, and it takes multiple attempts to get it to continue.

Caithe is broken. She is always “immune” and I can’t get the story done because of it.

They still haven’t fixed the disconnects. Entire maps dc’ing screwing over the meta. Or, dc’ing on one map and log back in to Lion’s Arch instead of where I just was. I normally have 0 issues, but since the lunar new year event started, endless error 7’s and 58’s.

People who go AFK during events

If you stand AFK during the final phase, and do not participate, you do not get to loot the boss chest. Anyone can loot bandit chests if you have keys for them. The game already has that solved for you. They are not “leeching” since they get nothing.

Maybe they are just trying to get map completion or and have things IRL that are more important (like feeding their children or reading them a book). They may have participated in every attack up to that point, and now have to change a diaper (or go to the bathroom themselves) during the final boss phase.

Hard to say someone is just leeching off the “entire” event unless you stood next to the m the entire time just to “prove” to yourself that they are dead weight.

I don’t disagree that some people will do as little as possible (or nothing) to try and be lazy for free stuff, but there isn’t any way for Anet to solve that, which is why doing nothing means you can’t get the boss chest.

The new AC change is great. It’s not like you’re going to actually be attacking while manning an AC anyway. I stood there for 45 secs last night at Klovan (on an AC) trying to get ANY of the abilities to fire. Nothing. Yet, the entire time the AC would not attack, the cats in the distance were knocking on the wall. Finally, I just left to LLK to set up a treb to take it back.

The fact that minion AI still isn’t fixed is honestly inexcusable.

AI is partly fixed. Minions will no longer go looking for trouble, I hope.

They still do, just like the mesmer clones. Jump off a ledge, mob is 2k away. Minion says “look, off in the distance…I’m gonna go jam my finger in it’s butthole”. *and off it goes

Tried this on my mesmer and had the same results.

I just manged to plant 31 arrowcarts on the north gate of SM. 15 on the ramparts 10 below and 6 on the third tier. All were able to hit the gate where they were placed.

Note: Just because they arent built doesnt mean they cannot be built. The siege limit was not hit due to AC’s now being able to hit for 3500 range while the siege limit range is per 1000(or there about). Im fairly certain I could place more on the upper tier where the Cannon is also that can hit. (edit: I just placed 6)

Hasn’t changed at all, except the racial ability “pain inverter” is now useless.

I never thought people should be rewarded more (and faster) for just outnumbering and trampling over everything and leave it unguarded (most of the time). Oh look, they flipped it back, yay more rewards for retaking it. I thought this was really…well…stupid.

I love the new changes. Players can no longer just run up and hit a door to annoy their opponent. Servers will now actually have to have scouts at towers/keeps (some already did).

Siege (well, at least arrow carts) actually hurt. There is no reason 50 players should be able to ball up to negate everything (a-net…*cough, remove the aoe cap, *cough). The carts used to only kill lowbies/upleveled folks. Now, it actually hurts most players who just stand there mindlessly (not paying attention) beating on a door. Before they would just go…heh, it looks like it’s raining and my health bar isn’t moving…we’re good.
Now they go…ummm, we should pay more attention and actually use some tactics beyond biggest zergball wins man-moding everything, cause half the zerg just died.

For all of my angst about the confusion nerf, I am elated at the changes overall. So much so, I even bought some gems for my wife to get more minipets.

With the nerf to retaliation and confusion in wvw, this essentially makes the Asura racial Pain Inverter near useless . So, A-net, any chance you are going to “balance” the other racial abilities in wvw also with a 50% reduction in dmg capability?

All my armor is PTV with PPT upgrades, so lots of toughness. I’m still seeing 9k bs and 4k hs, and a thief can do that faster and more often than a mesmer can stack confusion…and more reliably.

I can see if A-net’s argument was “confusion damage is high, nothing should hit that hard”, but when bs is up to 9k (highest I’ve seen) and can be done every 3 secs (yes I know about dodging and moving around) and warrior rifle burst is 12k (highest I’ve seen on me at least), that can’t be the reason.

As someone who stands watch in towers/keeps for long periods (some nights up to 8 hours), this will have no impact.

For servers who do not have sentries at towers/keeps…good luck.

They did nothing before is the trouble. Superior ones killed lowbies and upleveled, but unless you have 5+ AC’s hitting one spot they were mostly useless.

Now “siege” will actually hurt.

Sigh, a lot of people forget we were dominated in T2 for something like 10 weeks before we finally started gaining some steam.

Edit: Yesterday morning I had outmanned buff on 2 maps when I joined.

Why…you ask?

Portals. I main a necro and have 5 other 80’s. Mesmer is one. When I get bored, I portal people around, goof off and generally enjoy the game as a …game. And that is where my mesmer comes in. In WvW you can be a HUGE benefit whether it’s just dropping entry and exit portals so those lagging behind the zerg can catch up. Or, make the jump puzzle go faster. Or, when babysitting a tower and 30 bad guys show up. You can drop a portal and run away (or so they think), drop the next one and you and all your friends are back inside on siege.

It’s fun.

That’s the amusing part of our history. We have and have been stomped…hard (both ways). Even in the current matchup, there are times we are que’d for all 4 maps like last night (although usually just EB during the week) and other times where on at least 2/4 maps we are outmanned (comes and goes as people jump maps, also usually trying to get in to EB – I think).

Our coverage is definitely better than it was when I used to walk up hill to school…both ways.

A zerg is any group that I’m not a member of.

When I’m part of it, they should be referred to as a superior cohesive fighting force.

I used to use it to refer to the main fighting force for one side. So, several smaller groups running around, but if they have a main battle force taking big things that would be the zerg (cause my typing sucks and it’s easier than typing anything else).

I think I would agree with the above post by Niim nowadays.
“My personal view of what defines a zerg, I use the following:
1 – solo
2-10 – group
11-20 – squad
21+ – zerg”

This is about what I picture when people type out stuff.

Should "line" skills have a target cap?

Line of warding only stops 5 people, unless it was changed recently. The first time I put it up as a tower door went down I thought “wtf” as the first few people hit it, but everyone behind just ran through while it was still up. Tested it a couple more times after that to watch for stability and even without stability, everyone after the first 5 hit it go right through.

Imagine if things like veil, temporal curtain and symbol of swiftness only affected 5 people.

Or, better yet, imagine if “area of effect” skills actually hit an “AREA” and not just 5 people. Personally, I’m hoping the talks about them separating WvW and PvE from each other means that they can remove the cap while not making bots even more efficient at farming.

The problem isn’t the number of people, it’s that there is no % minimum damage to trigger the ‘contested’ state. It should easily be 5 to 10%….whether it’s 1 or 50 attacking the gate.

BUG: SAB - "Failed Jump" death

This isn’t only happening in the SAB. It happens in the battlegrounds too. Usually during or just after mega zerg fights in EB. Fighting on the 3rd floor of SM and die. WP to your keep and start to run back, and about half way back to SM, boom like 40k damage (single number on the screen – not from multiple attacks). Only time I see numbers that large is falling damage so that is my assumption.

So, we do read the forums.

…We still want you to need LOS to your target, however…

When the devs talk about what is going on with each class, are they in the same room?

Mesmers beserker phantom now requires LOS…makes sense.
Necros epidemic now requires LOS…makes sense.
Eles dragon’s tooth does not…why (looking at the above statement)?
Engineers grenades can now be thrown over the wall to hit all siege anywhere…why (looks up again)?

It makes complete sense that skills require you to be able to see your target to hit it.
So, why are there skills that are “different”?

While I completely agree that this mechanic is borked, it is going to be my new hobby. We’ve had a thief from FA doing this to us for weeks. Do unto others if they are to you…or something like that.

Hadn’t played my thief in like 6 months, but got a few hours in last night. If our waypoint is going to be contested, so is yours :-). I play NA central time about 5 to 7 hours a night. And, as I am used to spending 3+ hours babysitting a keep/tower, this isn’t that different. Watch South Park, occasionally look at screen. 3 mins up…whack a door. Watch more South Park.

At least everyone’s toons will be in shape from all the running.

Yeah, the KN Colonel is the highest I’ve seen…they were an Engie. That was also the day I realized that engies could now throw grenades over the wall at siege. My little lvl 43 engie may get some lovin’ soon.
