Ele will do tons of damage but get deleted faster than even thieves. Not sure it’s viable yet, but we’ll see.
What makes you think they’ll do tons of damage? They haven’t done it in this meta eer and even got damage nerfs. Of course it’s not gonna be viable, otherwise it would have been viable up to this point.
Glass damage ele always did tons of damage. They just weren’t common because you looked at it and it died. :P
Without cleric cleansebot ele in the meta, condis are going to be even more prevalent yes.
Ele will do tons of damage but get deleted faster than even thieves. Not sure it’s viable yet, but we’ll see.
I’m not sure what I’ll do with my ele in sPvP now. At least it’s still great for PvE?
This game is alrdy 4 years old. It is time.
I think you need to wait 14 years >.>P.S. I really miss a horse outfit :/
I got u fam.
Compared to other games rng crates, the BL chests are incredibly poor value.
The only time they’ve been a pain is if you’re chasing the treasure mushroom in AB at weeping glade and manage to aggro the 3-4 roaming vets there. If it’s just you and 1-2 other players and that happens…you gun have a bad time son.
And yet, despite the labour and expenditure aside, there is home hobbyists who have done it for free. So it seems nothing is really “too big or expensive.” for someone that just wants to see it get done.
You’re equating hobby work with a paid job. When you’re at work you need to prioritize. Do you want that Texture artist to be working on new content for the next LS3/raid/etc or porting over and updating GW1 textures. Do you want the modeller to be creating new assets or fixing clipping issues with ported over armor?
When these guys are costing you $40-70k a year and freelancers may cost more per hour or per item, as well as a single item possibly requiring input from more than one person, then yes, both time and money are an issue.
I’m sure many of the developers and artists would love to add extra stuff and polish to the game, but at the end of the day doing so in their own time doesn’t pay the bills.
You’re basically asking the equivalent of a auto mechanic to fix your car for free because you heard of a guy who does it as a hobby and he fixed your friends car for free.

If bringing over a cache of weapon and armour skins is so difficult, then why are there many games already on the market where players have independently created mods for free that do that very thing?
I can wear Elder scrolls armour in Tera
I can augment any armour in the witcher series to be re-textured.
EtcFor the herculean task it is,..members from other communities without qualifications in coding have successfully done it and updated it with each patch that game has undergone.
Just saying.
It’s not difficult, it just requires a lot of man hours, both retexturing (not recolouring) and rerigging models (which can be a major pain in the behind if the new model is weighted differently) is quite labor intensive. This costs money. Even more so if the model is significantly different to the original being ported, eg, charr, asura as you will almost certainly end up with disgustingly bad texture stretching and clipping without major alterations (probably easier to remake from scratch).
Finally, some of those mods clip and stretch like crazy if you don’t use a compatible body shape mod, which is what anet wanted to avoid.
I personally think that anet just don’t have the manpower to devote to such tasks, unlike bigger studios like swtor or asian grinders which always seem to have more staff working on cash shop fashion than on anything else.

Had a game today where we had a 3 thief, 2 guard team vs a 3 warrior, 2 thief team.
We won, but boy can you tell what the daily win bonus is for today. XD
PvE will come back to live when LS3 hits.
PvP has been dying more every season I I suspect season 4 will be the lowest population season yet.
WvW…well, I never see anyone there when I do my dailies so idk.
PvP players are the most skilled in the game and have little to show for it… Not fair.
Some of them perhaps. Certainly not all of them! XD
Forest – [blah blah] tranquility channel, [blah blah blah]
Huh?
Oops, my bad. I meant temple.
Foefire – thief on my team lord rushed first thing, died at gate then blamed team for not helping and akitten.
Foefire – semi-premade on my team went 3 to far, all died to one warrior.
Forest Temple – Other team necro got cced before finishing tranquility channel, raged in mapchat about “noob team no help” and akitten.
Skyhammer – Other teams scrapper died to non DD thief repeatedly while trying to capture hammer.
What wondrous tales have you guys got from the depths of hell unranked?
(edited by Ubik.8315)
Since the ranked season ended, unranked is full of the people who used to be super toxic and afk or instantly quit in ranked…but now doing it in unranked as well.
I’d love to see a league style reporting system where a certain number of reports in a set period results in automatic bans, but frankly the size of the pvp population is unlikely to support it. Perhaps a special low priority queue for them, where toxic players get matched with other toxic players.
As it is these people are likely to drive more and more people away as nobody likes playing a game where you’re effectively 2/3 v 5 because the rest of your team decided to kitten off at 30 points down after declaring “unwinnable game, kittening noobs”.
Combine a better reporting and punishment system with a resign vote system if you’re >150 points down and that may help somewhat but honestly I think the GW2 community is just irredeemably small with a larger than average number of highly toxic players.
She was just bad or wasn’t specced to fight vs high cc and condis at that point. Just slotting Eternal champion for stab on zerk mode would’ve made things easier for them.
And was it just me or did they not have cleanse on weapon swap either?
You’ll probably do fine against new zerk players or some who has their traits and utilities setup to kill NPCs in a zerg, but you’ll get torn apart by people who have figured out what tools the warrior has for a situation.
Orr gathering/mining/lumbering is fine…but then I always have multiple alts at the tree farms.
I only feel sad when it’s stuff like HoT adventures or TD events.
Again, Berserker/Valkyrie mix is basically the same as Marauder. Berserker Weapons/Trinkets with Valkyrie Armor, and you’re basically at Marauder already. Fraction of the effort, all the same effect.
Actual marauder gear will have 9.5% more stats overall.
Now since, it’s closed. We got toxic jerk, afk or rage quitters and bad players for a majority of queuers.
Yep. 3 people went afk in the last unranked game I played. Two from my team, instantly after losing mid, 1 from their team after getting their chieftain stolen. What a clown fiesta. People who think league or Dota is toxic haven’t played gw2 clearly.
Like everything else OP has posted, this is a silly post.
Only in unranked can I play thief and watch 3-4 of the other team think I’m a pokemon and chase me all over the map trying to catch me.
It’s both hilarious and saddening.
Mace warrior, reaper, daredevil, hammer rev might have a chance, sword/shield herald can if played perfectly, chronomancer if room to move.
I find DD pretty bad vs skilled scrappers (at least power build, haven’t tried condi dd). Those aoe fields can really mess up your day.
Condi warr, reaper (if not +1ed on) and kiting chrono are the classes I’ve had success fighting scrappers with. Chrono tends to lose the point and the fight can take too long, so it’s not exactly ideal. Someone earlier said condi warr is the best option and I’m inclined to agree.
The problem isn’t killing the scrapper. The problem is killing the scrapper before you get +1ed.
Lol. My faith in anet to deliver a fun season 4 experience is pretty much nonexistent. Worst “ranked” or “competitive” pvp system of any game I’ve ever played, propped up by moderately entertaining gameplay…which gets old pretty fast due to the complete dearth of build variety.
Lucky for me, if season 4 starts at roughly the same interval as season 3 did, I’ll be on holiday enjoying sights and having fun.
3 of my team instantly “disconnected” after losing the fight at mid. Oh off season. Why must you do this.
I use:
W – Forward
A – Strafe left
S – Backward
D – Strafe right
Middle mouse – dodge
CTRL+F – Weapon swap
1 to 5 – weapon skills
CTRL+1 to 5 – Heal, utilities and elite
ALT+1 to 5 – Profession skills
Q – Toggle snap ground target
E – About face
My modifiers are bound to mouse side buttons, so I don’t have to reach the keyboard ones.
I’d expect shaves to scrapper damage or sustain, shaves to tempest heals, perma evade staffdevil will probably be destroyed (justified or not) and absolutely no changes to guardian because it’s in a good spot (aka, anet has no idea how to balance it’s elite and has no intention of making a non hot build viable).
It also needs a log to file option. The fact the combat log is actually very short means that at times you only see the last 1/3rd of a fight and can’t analyse prior fights.
I’ve chose necro so thanks guys but in terms of build, what do you mean by ‘reaper’ build?
condi-tank-minions build? after such a long break i am a little lost here in terminology
Reaper is the HoT elite spec for necro, which you unlock with hero points.
Condi – Condition (damage over time) damage
Tank – build that optimises survivability (and threat generation for group content)
Minions – those summonable npcs necro creates.
So a condi-tank-minion build is a build that uses minions to maximise survivability and deals primarily condition damage.
Zoricus may be right actually. During S1 I only played about 3-6 matches a day the entire way through. During S2 I started play about 4 weeks late due to a large move. During S3 I played lightly 1-2 games a day for the first couple weeks and then had to take a 3 week break middle season due to an eye injury. It does seem early season in all the season, I had better matches. Match quality kept on dropping the longer I waited to try and grind to legend at the kitten end of each season.
It’s because all the decent players powered through the divisions and quit. Thus by the end of the season it’s just the grinders who took 500 games to get to ruby and the late starters or “slowpokes” left (with the occasional smurf).
Not a bad idea. I’d personally make the scepter more condition oriented because we already have a ranged dps weapon with longbow. However, having the sword as a melee condition variant might be a good idea as well (so we have both a ranged and melee condition weapon option). Considering mace, sword and hammer and greatsword are all physical damage oriented, having one of those four change to more of a condition focus would be nice.
Fixes:
Remove projectile on auto, keep cleave.
Sword 2, remove blind, replace with torment and cripple. Damage stays low.
Sword 3, melee range attack with no root and no projectiles. Apply 1 stack of bleed per hit, blocks ranged attacks while channeling.
Adjust direct damage accordingly so it’s not a super hybrid weapon.
AOE fields and interrupts, specifically shocking aura or 6/6 nightmare bonus pretty much force a thief to pick another point to +1 or decap.
- Matchmaking still bad – too many blowout games
- Still no way to deal with toxic players aside from the “botting” report
- Lack of PvP/PvE balance split still hurting both areas of gameplay (eg, scrappers suboptimal in pve/wvw, excellent in spvp)
- Shiny wings can’t retain a playerbase – most left the instant they were finished
- Still nothing to do between queues in hotm
We know that the system attempts to 50/50 your win/lose rate. This much is apparent. When you are under 50%, it puts you in to a win streak with easier matches. When you are over 50% it starts giving you progressively worse matches. When you hover at 50%, it likes to keep you right there with the win/lose/win/lose and it can go on for weeks before it breaks.
Basically, if you’re on a streak, spam games to get as high as you can before the system realises you’re on a win streak and “adjusts accordingly”.
Ranked matchmaking is complete garbage. My local tip has better matchmaking – at least there you have to group all the different types of trash into the right recycling bin.
Nothing but streaks one way or another, neither is fun. I can probably count on one hand the number of non blowout games I’ve had all season.
If anet cared then they would have no alternative but to delete all the crappy code for the ranked league, the matchmaking and the seasons and start from scratch…when the games are basically you in full ascended killing mobs in snowden fields if you’re on a win streak or you on a fresh alt trying to solo tequatl. if you happen to be on a losing streak…it’s that messed up. Good luck convincing anet to do anything before the spvp playerbase completely abandons the game though.
Unranked is just as bad, but the 50/50 is every other game instead of 10wins/10losses. That said, I’ve had more close games in unranked, not by virtue of higher levels of gameplay but because both teams keep throwing leads.
(edited by Ubik.8315)
I don’t understand why anet doesn’t do full mmr resets between seasons.
Started in amber, 81 games to diamond, then quit after a 5 game loss streak (coupled with a few other loss streaks). Diamond honestly felt like emerald but with more toxic ragers and afkers. At least in emerald people wanted to improve, in diamond (and latter tiers of ruby) people died once, announced the game unwinnable, flamed the tempest for no heals, flamed the DH or Thief for playing that class and akitten in base.
Played entirely solo, mostly tempest, then dragonhunter and chrono.
Next season I’ll rush ruby then quit, gw2 spvp is a massive joke and the punchline wasn’t funny.
(edited by Ubik.8315)
I’m in a similar situation regarding that achievement, except I have 0/4 for League Elite (as I didn’t PvP much at all in the previous seasons and made Diamond this season). I wonder if it will be possible to get all 4 next season…
Emerald, sapphire, ruby, diamond. That’s four. Good luck next season.
In my opinion, the problem lies more with the system giving new PvPers an artificially high MMR. Thus you have experienced PvPers and less experienced (but quick learners) being grouped with relatively new players.
This has three obvious outcomes.
1. New players get kittenstomped
2. Experienced player “fills” spot with newer players and has to carry very hard, while this is occasionally fun, it’s pretty frustrating if it happens repeatedly.
3. New player gets lucky, fills group with experienced players, gets carried up the ranked divisions then gets stuck in mmr hell.
I see loads of people with the champion paragon/genius etc titles in pvp. Just as many of them suck as players running around with avenger.
Necro and ranger are both great for soloing HoT content thanks to their minion/pet system.
Ruby and diamond felt like emerald all over again. Come play overwatch with everyone else who got fed up and leave the achievements for the start of next season.
Really the only thing this map needs is to have the exploration phase last until the scheduled next meta event.
Yeah, scrapper cooldowns are pretty ridiculously short for sPvP. Hopefully they’ll make a pass over it when they separate out PvP and PvE/WvW.
Function gryo is just on far, far, far too low a cooldown. If it was 75s CD then I doubt anyone would complain.
Honestly in my personal opinion, most scrapper abilities are on extremely low cooldowns relative to how much they do (even more so that other HoT abilities, which are all ridiculously spammy).
Honestly while perma evade is super cheese and needs a fix, I think that otherwise thief does need it’s large array of evades. Without the evades, mobility and stealth resets a thief melts to any pressure at all. Stuff like those AOE ground effects that other classes can just walk through and not really think twice about can melt a thief with no evades left.
Holy…people still complain about traps?
Don’t flame or respond to people who flame you.
Don’t talk toooo much, people in chat probably don’t want your life story.
Don’t be silent either, if you have something interesting to say, then say it.
Do say thank you if someone answers a question or offers advice.
Do ask if you don’t know how something works (particularly in party content, also some world bosses).
Don’t spam level up tomes at the bank.
Do ask for help if needed, maybe you’ll get some, maybe you won’t. But there is no harm is asking.
There would be complaints that people who “earned” high mmr were more-or-less ripped off by a reset. I think at least a slight majority would benefit, so this is an acceptable decision.
If someone can “earn” high mmr once, surely they can earn it again.
