P/P unload spam + poison works reasonably well vs the current symbolic meta. Less well vs DHrunning LB since it outranges you.

Mesmer and rev both get shields, which requires the machined shield collection achievement. This is shared between the classes and counts towards both classes ascended specialization collection.

If you haven’t got the class at that time it will automatically complete that part of the achievement once you unlock the specialization:

Say you have a level 80 daredevil and finish the collection for Bo, during which you also complete the Machined Staff collection, you then create a level 80 ranger and unlock the druid spec – the machined staff part of the Yggdrasil collection will be automatically unlocked.

Pips are the issue with leagues. MMR cannot sort effectively and provide a sense of progression if league progression is tied to pips.

MMR system – provides relatively balanced games overall and tends to even out to a 50/50 win rate once your MMR stabilises.

Pip progression – based on win streaks, which are unlikely if your MMR is stable.

Result – 1/-1/1/-1/1/-1/1/-1/1/-1/1/-1/1/-1/1/-1/1/-1/1/-1/ pip progression.

Suggested solution – leagues are MMR based, higher MMR results in higher league standing, relative to the rest of the population and assigned on a normal distribution.

The Ascension(or it’s successor) is tied to PvP achievements that are not linked to league standing, but linked to participation.

However greater league standing lowers the time to complete the various achievements…eg, 150 wins on a class would be baseline and thus applied to amber, emerald and sapphire wins, wins in ruby and diamond would count as two ticks on the achievement progression (so only needs 75) and wins in legendary would count as three ticks (so only requires 50 wins).

Basically the league system is a MMR ladder with cool rank symbols showing your performance relative to the rest of the population and the PvP legendary is a fancy reward track over the length of the year that is faster to complete if you compete in higher leagues.

Well, it wasn’t enough to keep DHs alive previously, but that was more to do with DHs never actually getting to use the F2-either dying mid leap or it being interrupted. Now we can reliably chain them and the F3 for some pretty solid bunkery goodness.

Yeah, and when you pop all those traps, the first guy dies and a 2nd enemy appears from behind the horizon, you’re helpless as a baby because you don’t have RF to reset your virtues. Try it, I dare you.

I saw a full trap DH today (basically the old medi build, but running ToF, PoB, Maw with JI). Sure he blew up a few unsuspecting people. But he didn’t really contribute anything and kinda instantly died the moment someone saw him afterwards. Even worse for him if his full trap combo happened to out rev and they popped shield 5. XD

2. The reduction in range from 1200 yrds —> 900 yards. Again, doesn’t make sense to me considering this is a ranged weapon. Makes even less sense considering everything I just said about Scepter 2 ability. The reduction to 900 yrds further promotes going closer to melee, which again, doesn’t seem like that’s what I want to be doing with a ranged weapon.

You never actually hit anything with scepter autos at greater than 400m anyway. Even more so back when the autos were even slower.

Yeah, even as a DH main I think purification has an overtuned based heal (and doesn’t scale great with healing power, especially vs wings of resolve). Maybe make the heal on trigger some 25% lower as direct HP and have the 25% made up for with regen over 12 seconds…thus if the other player is thinking they can strip or corrupt it.

Ff stories are not meant to provide a challenge, then why don’t they just go make movies?
Seriously though, there’s a difference between difficulty and lazyness.

I found the entire story a cakewalk, same with the LS2 and HoT stories and achievements on pretty much every class (I don’t play engineer).

However, I’ve had guildies that found certain parts quite challenging and asked for help to complete some parts (Hearts and Minds is always popular). As such I think the baseline story should be pretty easy (even for somewhat below average players) but challenge options on a second playthrough that reward shinys (but no AP) should be there for players wanting a bit more fun.

I will agree that traps are terrible from both a High level play aspect and terrible to face at the lower level. It is the combination of traps (persistent aoe damage) symbols (persistent aoe damage) and weapon attacks (mostly aoe damage) that make guardians very difficult to contend with if not focused down. This is also an unfortunately low skill cap type of pressure play.

Traps being strong at low level play stems from the capture points being very small. Same applies to all lingering AOE. DH Traps, necro marks and wells, chrono AOEs, fire fields from condi warrior, shock field from engis…all of them either cover the entire point or most of the point in any map that isn’t foefire.

If all the maps had larger capture points then new players wouldn’t end up charging into the point with the “I must be on the point to help team” and die to various AOEs – they could still be on the point but still have room to avoid visible and invisible obstacles.

Its because we are now getting matched with people that die in < 5 seconds because they cant even find their dodge buttons…. and we are not the slightest bit interested in carrying such bad players.

I agree, it’s extremely demotivating to be winning or stalling for 1-2 minutes 1v3/4 and your team manages to die 4v2 while achieving nothing.

Hardly matters if they nerf traps. Idiots will still walk into them and die then rage on the forums, wheras most DH barely use any other than purification, ToF and the sometimes FoF (I quite like this for the stab and aegis spam).

I mean seriously, when one of the most outspoken “traps are OP” forum posters shows videos of him keyboard turning and clicking abilities you get an understanding of how bad some of these people who QQ about traps are.

I don’t even see many DH’s running with longbow anymore. Not to mention deflecting shot has a pretty obvious and slow projectile that you can either dodge or strafe away from.

Revenue dipped significantly below what it was pre-HoT… that’s not good. Looks like HoT actually did drive away a large portion of players.

I doubt HoT drove people away, more likely the content drought post HoT caused that.

People still don’t seem to get that securing bell consecutively is extremely important. I still see people afk on side nodes of mid when 4 members of the opposite team are dunking bell.

I suppose this is because everyone left for ranked right now.

True, played 39 matches – 14 wins
Game probably expects me to carry because I was legendary last season and so my MMR is probably higher than average saphire player MMR.

Honestly this season is starting off like absolute garbage. When my team wants to duel a druid off point while I’m 1v3 on our only held point, I cry. Even if I was Gregor Clegane, I couldn’t deadlift this weight.

Today in unranked I found a premade. They were pretty bad.

One of their DH ran PoB and ToF traps, dropped them both on the point I was holding …I popped a block and walked calmly walked out of the traps having only taken one pob tick.

I believe they had a power warrior as well, who proceeded to unload his CCs into my focus blocks.

When I rotated to archway (was on capri), I saw their ranger stood on the ledge pewpewing with longbow with a electric wyvern pet and doing nothing else.

I felt sad that this was deemed a “close game” by the matchmaker.

1. Infil Sig is a stun break and shadowsteps to a target for it’s active and the passive is helpful. Blinding powder is a blast finisher and gives quick access to stealth.

2. Longbow gives good access to burns.

People heard DH is OP now, so they’re giving it a try. Most of them are pretty inexperienced and have no idea what their new fotm can actually do.

I beat 3 other guards at once using a hambow build just yesterday…I think one was running old meditrapper, one was the new meditrappers with sw/focus and one was symbolic. All were pretty clueless. I’m sure it’ll die back in a couple weeks as these players either move on or git gud.

Middle mouse – dodge
CTRL+F – Weapon swap
1 to 5 – weapon skills
CTRL+1 to 5 – Heal, utilities and elite
ALT+1 to 5 – Profession skills

Q – Toggle snap ground target
E – About face

My modifiers are bound to mouse side buttons, so I don’t have to reach the keyboard ones.

Too lazy to type it out again.

I hit the 1-5 keys with my ring finger typically.

Norn just looks more popular because they’re easy to spot.

Have you noticed that there are quite a lot of human female thieves that use not only tier 3 cultural armour, but also the scarf from the gem store? That’s a combination I see all the time in-game.

Guilty to using t3 medium top on my thief. Though it’s kinda between that or the gem store viper and strider skins…which I don’t have. Medium carapace and human t2 are nice as well, but the rest is just trenchcoats

Hammer is a good map now the jump pads are changed. I’d like to see it in the ranked rotation next season. I’d also like to see old hammer in unranked for funsies.

What is stronghold? Nobody plays it, including me.

Spirit, not tried the updated orb because people are spamming capricorn, but I thought it was a decent map, maybe a little small.

Capricorn…poorly laid out secondary base exits, poorly laid out and thought out secondary objective (too low risk to capture if you have superior field control so fails as a comeback mechanic). Also way too big for a 5v5 mode.

So yeah;

Bell mechanic is stupid and pretty much prevents any comeback plays at all. Once one team has field control, they also have bell control. Bar a player on the winning team disconnecting or afking, you’re pretty much done at that point. This effectively makes it a worse version of temple.

Honestly I don’t see why every single map needs a gimmicky extra mechanic. It’s not even a fun gimmick like punting people off the map in old skyhammer…

Marauder works great, minimal dps loss vs straight zerker for significant boosts to survivability. You can also bring a staff for better ranged options as well as swapping traits to defensive ones (ie, earth/water) and using defensive utilities if needed.

Having used mostly tempest last season, I’ll be playing my guard and warr mostly next season. I felt the pain of trying to make a class work when it was underpowered last time, no point putting myself through it again. The ele is consigned to the PvE bin for now ;-;
