When did this trend start… to only play for special rewards?
In the past, this kind of mentality at least was confined to PvE grinders. But PvP? I play PvP because I want to win, want to improve, want to play the game.
Reward tracks and some silver at the end are just a bonus and make it for me easier to join on some PvE content. Thats it.
Honestly, if most games are very onesided and the queue times are ridiculously long then just playing for the sake for playing becomes much less attractive. I think more people would play if they got reasonably short queue times and competitive games. However it seems like the population simply can’t sustain it.
I also don’t think putting more shinies on display will tempt more people to play.
Overall pvp population is small as is, Stronghold is an unliked gamemode so its population is even smaller Anet can’t change that.
This. Most people play conquest, so stronghold times get longer, so fewer people play stronghold and play conquest…etc.
Also the already relatively small population dropped off a cliff this season since many people got their wings early on as well as overwatch being released.
Everything to do with PvP post HoT and ESPORTS needs to be reworked from the ground up. Everything. No part of it is ok, let alone in a good place. It’s a complete joke.
Thanks to this system ruby has the biggest collection of idiots in any tier outside hotjoin.
It’s just a contest to see who can throw their lead more effectively by chasing the thief off point, starting with a lord rush, trying to cap far when holding mid and home securely…etc
In fact there’s probably more people who don’t understand the idea of stand on the circle in ruby than in preschool.

At no point did I say you would have fun playing base thief or mesmer. Just that you could still have a positive impact as opposed to being condi fodder.

Just have tickets buyable with shards. And have an alternative to the division cross achievement that you get for like….2500 shards. Now people won’t care about their “I’m in mmr hell” because even though they’re not progressing in divisions, they’re still grinding towards their shiny.
I think condi damage is ok, it’s just that as Saiyan said, you’re ducked if your cleanse rng clears the stuff that isn’t killing you. The way I see it, the issue it’s just how many different types of conditions can be applied in such a short space of time compared to the relative cooldowns of the abilities that can remove enough of them to matter.
Those posts by lucred have to be trolling. If they’re not, please direct me to where I can see this 25k go, perma stab, Merc ammy with cleric runes and still cleanses everything build in action, because it sounds like fun.
Don’t see anything relation to terrible matchmaking in ranked nor class stacking. Try again.
Individual class balance is pretty decent, DH are out of the meta due to the prevalence of reflect and their support options being inferior to druid/ele, but other classes are all decent.
Matches are still often lopsided, either due to poor matchmaking or due to poor team comps.
Just delete the entire stupid league system and stick a normal ladder in there. Every time anet tries to “fix” it they just make it worse. You can’t polish a kitten .
Yea it’s funny, I always like to stay a bit after the match just to see how many boons I removed with my auto attack alone since I don’t even bring any of the boon removals on traits and utility’s and I usually remove like some where in the upper 70’s boons only from my auto attack >.<
And I’ve noticed that smart ele’s take off running in the other direction whenever a necro/reaper approaches them.
If they have a scepter, there’s no way I want to fight them on ele. On my DH, I’ll be happy to fight them.
Nerf condis – confusion passive ticks are stupid in pvp, remove it.
Zerker – applies too many condis in too short a period. Skull Grinder applies blind, cripple and cripple. All primal CDs increased to 10s, successfully hitting a target with a primal halves the CD.
Mesmer – Chronophantasma ICD 30s, also F5 doesn’t reset elites.
Druid – Nerf HoT pets, buff other pets.
Ele – reduce aura duration or the aura heal amount. I’d love to make dps ele viable but I can’t really see any way to do so.
Thief – nerf vault damage by 15% and remove evade. Impacting disruption unblockable removed.
Scrapper – I don’t even know where to start nerfing this pos. making them choose between damage or sustain would be good, none of this “look at me, and a tank and a dps” bullkitten. The CD on Hammer 4 doubling as well, because gokitten the freaking reflect spam is stupid.
Dragonhunter – Needs a complete rework along with base guardian. At the moment it’s either over the top and curbstomps newbs or trash vs experienced players. Terrible design.
Necromancer – Boon corrupt on auto…removed.
Revenant – Evade frames removed from staff 5. Shield 5 CD increased by 5 seconds.
Nightmare 6/6 – deleted.

I’ve seen Tempest tanks merrily tank 3 skilled players by themselves.
I would hesitate to say that three players, assuming they’re not also aurabot tempests or healer druids failing to kill one tempest are as “skilled” as you want to believe.
All you need is 1 good necro to take out a tempest, my reaper sometimes solo kills 2 people at a time and quite easily.

Unranked is a totally different story. I’ve gotten 3 signet rangers and people that are totally new to PvP on my team (and against). That’s not really fun for me either and I’ve rarely if ever had a close game out of the past 50 unranked matches I’ve had since this season started.
They just need to scrap everything and rework it, right now both ranked and unranked are messed up
I have less competitive ranked games than unranked.
Normally in unranked it’s a case of which team has the fewer new players has a player who can hard carry on a hard carry class.
In ranked it’s just which team has the better MMR.

Not via the current method. You won’t be able to get enough division crossings in one season, even if you manage everything else.
You can get all the division crossings within a season. It’s just very diffiicult as you need to progress to legendary and then complete the legendary division several times.
The only thing that limits players are the daily achievements which is 60 days in total.

I was the same way until very recently when someone in my guild was actually talking about it. I didn’t know you were supposed to knock down the portals, and I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I had done that fight.
Idk. I first saw it when my mesmer was a wee fresh char and saw a group of 7-10 running and killing portals.
My first thought was that there must be a reason, so I followed them and killed portals as well, which seemed more productive than watching my mesmer do the one human female idle animation with the rest of the zerg.

Look at the statistics from GW2efficiency.
Only a very small percentage of players have 2500 games.
Gw2efficiency gives you this info on account summary. I’m fairly certain that PvP deaths don’t count.
For my part, SAB ruined my deaths per hour ratio.
Every single HoT spec needs an across the board nerfhammer. Some more than others. Many abilities need a rework so they don’t do every kittening thing at the same time.
Condis need a nerf not in damage but how many different ones can be applied with 1 or 2 abilities.
Nightmare rune 6/6 needs to be deleted.
Unranked games are just as bad as ranked ones. It’s just that you aren’t guaranteed to get an ele on both teams.
Forced premades = enjoy your 2 hour wait times and still get the same stompy games.
Balance is okish…playerbase is non-existent though so it doesn’t matter.
I spam heals at the dps who dived past our tank, cry when my team follows them in and gets obliterated then pop my ultimate and make sure heroes never die.
Unless you’re raiding, spvping or high level fractals…doesn’t matter.
Why would u make easy mode raids? They were meant to be a hard core content not some open world event anyone with five minutes of time can do.

SWTOR’s story mode raids are there because they put a lot of story inside the raid content. They also allowed people to progress from tactical flashpoint(faceroll)>hardmode flashpoint>storymode raid>hardmode raid>nightmare raid(sadly no longer exists).
Don’t get me wrong through, storymode and nightmare were worlds apart with the mechanics being broadly the same, aside from a misstep in NiM would you/party. Also, most players accepted that they would never be able to complete NiM(or even hard for some) so despite bosses in those modes having special drops nobody complained…somehow I can’t see that happening here.
Let’s be honest, meditrapper, healbot ele and condi warr aren’t the most thrilling specs to play. Since the removal of it’s old amulet, condi mesmer is slightly more entertaining.
For most chapters it will progress everyone’s story. For a few it will only progress the person who started the instance. It’s weird like that.

Seen quite a few support/bunker dh, and they are quite revoltingly endurable with their blocks.
So, maybe you are just running the wrong build.
Tend to melt in any teamfight sadly. Those blocks don’t last long since other than F3 they’re not channelled.
And ofc, a power rev will rek them.
Just got out of some spvp, nothing but guardians.
1 game had 5/10 players as guardians, next had 4/5 of my opponents all guardians, then another 2 games had 3/5 of the opposing players as guardians.
They are super popular right now, so they can’t be that bad.
It was the guardian daily PvP. That’s probably why I also saw do so many…admittedly I was also playing mine. Inge of my games today had only thieves and guardians doing their daily…

I just noticed this, not sure if its a bug with Hearts and Minds or something else. But I’ve completed the instance, I have the achievement for it, yet the Dream Warrior achievement is showing no progress at all. It says I haven’t completed any of the ally fights in the instance

Bow of Truth kinda does a pretty decent big AoE ranged heal no?

The heal is centered on the position of the bow. With the AI it has, that means it’s complete garbage because the chance of the bow being in the right place to use the heal effectively (before it gets cleaved to death) is roughly 0.01%. It’s a good idea, executed very, very poorly.
Even with cleric MI heals for 2.8k…which is even more terrible given it’s a 40s cooldown.

Possibly make the daily:
Go on a rampage
Successfully defend a point 3 times in one game
Cap five points in one game
Kill both svanir and the chieftain
Kill the enemy Lord
Hold all points in a game
Sadly, I can’t think of a way to make an achievement for proper rotation.
Feel free to suggest other things but make it teach players how to play, not what class to play.Seriously, pvp needs a bigger player base, and the only way to do that is to get convert pve players into playing pvp.
The saddest thing is that I can see people throwing games to get their “kill lord” or “kill beasts” very easily.
Currently 3/5 traps have a cast time and you are complaining why? Because you can’t figure out how to avoid taking more than 1-2 ticks of damage on PoB when it’s (rarely) used?
Unranked games are more competitive and fun than ranked atm, I’m playing about 4:1 ratio ranked/unranked since I can’t get the legendary wings.
For a second there i thought you was describing GUARDIANS. Because the only thing they have is blocks vs your Ele mega sustain.
Except they have those blocks. And if they were specced as defensively as eles are, they’d have the sustain. And they don’t have to sacrifice all that sustain to have damage. And they definitely don’t have the weakest armor type – quite the opposite.
So, in short, not like eles at all.
A full bunker guard still explodes in a teamfight on mid. It can annoy people in 1v1s, but simply doesn’t perform as well as it could (since teams will simply go tell the rev to kill the bunkguard).
But yes, if ele team support gets a nerf all anet will be left with is an even worse version of guardian…and everyone knows that guardian is “in a good spot” so anything beneath them would thus be “in a bad spot”.
Go to Auric basin, kill stuff near whatever commander is doing events.
