btw, how could that be? is that bug? or Lag (from range Pet)?
Evolution, my friend, evolution.
Although the shark should have checked for legs first…
That is obviously the infamous Land Shark, as featured in this video by the legendary Jimmy Buffett.
Notice something in GW2 that you don’t see in other MMOs… gold still has value. There aren’t people out there running around with millions of ISK, gold, etc. rendering a single unit of the same completely invaluable.
Five weeks of week long matches longer than anyone else has ever done, it was not under pressure, the week matches were cake.
How many matches are over by Monday of the week long matches?
One day matches were harder than week matches it was full press then start over the next day, no time off.
Being that no one else won a 24 match I understand if you did not know this.
When you are getting double teamed in a 24 hour match you can not come back later you have to fight harder.
Maybe they can claim five weeks, I don’t know, but 27-0 is ridiculous. I just know they broke up rather than face Jade Quarry.
You can’t be serious. The PvE content in GW2 is vastly superior to WoW. As a simple matter of fact, in WoW, PvE content is obsoleted every time you level out of a zone, making it worthless. Think about it… in WoW, what PvE content is there for your max level characters? One raid. Period.
I remember back in the day when HOD was 27 – 0 and TA finally broke up becuase no one could beat them.
People on these boards called them every name there was saying the could not stay on top.
The fact is, any server who cares enough and wants it bad enough can easily take a top spot provided they can get enough folks on their server that share that sentiment.
Except you can’t prove that because first : not even Ascension Alliance could bring TA down from the throne, and second: TA has not been beaten once.
When TA broke up a few guild transferred to Blackgate (TRF) while some come to SoS (PRX, ELTE last I heard) , which was the butt-monkey of the WVW scene back then.
Blackgate got bumped by a tier when that happened.
And now SoS is dominating.
And where’s henge now?
Without TA, they’re still dropping down to the bottom of the ladder to this very day.And you still want to downplay TA’s achievement and their ability by saying “anyone could’ve done it if they want it bad enough?” Sorry, while I find TA’s departure largely funny, your sentiment is all the more hilarious.
One of your point is true though. If you get enough coverage, you win wvw basically. 9 times out of 10 its about the number and coordination rather than the strategy and skill per player.
however, the fact that TA could bring together so many people from different time zone, all dedicated to winning wvw, is an achievement in itself. No other server could, and did the same. If they did, Ta wouldn’t win so much. And there’s them winning 16 daily matches and 2 weeklies in tier 1, a feat that no other server was able to accomplish to this date.
According to your logic, every single server TA ever fought simply didn’t want to win enough. I hope you realize that’s not actually an insult to TA, but an insult to every server that couldn’t beat TA while they were running rampant. I think people are more likely to laugh at you rather than laughing at TA.
TA claiming to be 27-0 and undefeated is like a team claiming to be World Series champs for never losing a pre-season game. How long did they last in week long matches before they folded under the pressure?
@Volkon, that’s so cute
Xmas gift of Gems too?
QUIET YOU!
Heh… yeah, that’ll be coming as well. Even for Daddy.
More NPCs than people in WvW? What server you on? If you really want to get into some highly populated WvW switch over to Jade Quarry. You’ll have all the WvW PvP you can eat, with leftovers.
Without anything to keep people going there, the zone is going to turn into a ghost town.
No, that’s Ascalon. Although it may wind up littered with karkasses…
Hmm… even with the ancient karka gone there’s always the possibility of another, or maybe a karka broodmother or the like that’s also of legendary status.
We don’t know yet, but there’s so much potential that it’s better to wait and see what pops up.
So, last night my (nearly) 11 year old daughter (1 week to go… I feel myself aging…) pulled me from WvW to do the new jumping puzzle with her. How could Daddy say no, right? We had a blast. I have screenshots of us at the end chest… yes, we made it! OK, it may have taken a choice portal or two to pull her up on a couple falls, but what a gorgeous jumping puzzle. I hear there’s a second somewhere as well, need to find that… but here’s to some jumping puzzle love! Well done ANet!
Oh, she’s asking for gems for her birthday. GG Anet indeed.
Yes, she’ll get them.
@Volcon
Maybe I wasn’t clear in my original post. It did happen. I watched it happen. And if you had friends helping out it was quite easy to do.
Also, this wasn’t an exploit. Nowhere does it say you couldn’t do this. Don’t get mad at them (or me), get mad at ANet for allowing it.
No you didn’t. You wouldn’t have logged in to the full overflow. You would have, like I was, been sent to an overflow that had likely completed the event already, thus no chest or loot. As a matter of fact, the only way you could have been in position with your alts would be to have logged them out in an instance that already had completed the event.
The best you could have hoped for would be to be in the zone partied with someone in the instance and used the “join” option after the chest had appeared and people were moving out of the zone after collecting their loot. Even then it was a small window in time to get lucky in.
People were hunting for overflow servers still in progress for hours after the first server finished (some were bugged and finished hours later). All you needed was a group invite to get into the overflow.
And we know it wasn’t just because they D/Cd on their first go-around.
Is it that hard to make a chest only openable once per account?
They were obviously intended to be once per character. You have the shell piece, which is account bound and unique (meaning only one on your character at a time). They obviously had covered the possibility of someone getting two on one character on one account.
I didn’t get a precursor, and to be honest… I don’t care. I’ll get my legendary in time, and I had a blast with the events. Grats to those who got precursors! Had a guildie freak out in TS after getting the shield precursor which was fun to listen to. But no matter who got what, I had a blast. Thanks ANet.
IF, and only if, you managed to log into an overflow that was just ending the event instead of automatically being sent to a less populated server, that is. Odds on that? Nil.
The best you could hope for would be to be in a party with someone in the right instance (overflow), click on the “join in” option after the chest had spawned and catching that moment when some people are leaving after getting the loot but the chest is still up. I managed to get one alt into an overflow like that, but it was at the very beginning of the event instead so I got to do the entire chain again. It was a blast. Different experience on my guardian alt than on my mesmer I have to admit.
But no… what you propose wouldn’t have worked simply because you likely wouldn’t get into the right overflow when you logged in.
I had a blast, will definitely be taking on karka in the near future (this evening, actually), and absolutely love the new dungeon format… it’s brilliant. I know, the dungeon isn’t technically part of the event, but still.
My son noticed this on the Karka… when you take their health down the first time they seem to refill their health bars with… themselves, so to speak. Watch their legs, they go from fat and beefy to skinny legs. The second bar also goes down more quickly.
RIGHT NOW there’s an SOS person underground at Bluevale Refuge attacking things with impunity on SBI borderlands (green). Can target and report (reported as botting), but unable to get an account ID.
OK, here’s the skinny… after you free the ankles you go up the path that blows towards the chest. We had the person carrying the hammer get blown off at the very first blowy thing (technical term). The hammer wound up floating out in mid air well below us (at the point you get ported back in) and was unreachable.
Still… best dungeon evah! Loving it!
Best dungeon ever.
This is of course my opinion, not to be taken as fact by and for anyone else… aw, heck with it. Best dungeon ever. I’m having a blast.
You know… with the bobber/sinker thing it may be better to have that represent “surface/mid level/bottom” for bait placement. Limiting it to three “zones” should simplify it a bit.
Oh, and I give ANet full blessings to create the “Volkon” line of fishing poles, gear and apparel.
If they do it, they should name an exotic fishing pole “Volkon”
I, in a completely unbiased fashion, approve of this suggestion.
I expect future progression to be lateral… future ascended sets with unique infusions and comparable power. The ascended layer nicely fills in the “time to acquire” gap between exotics and legendaries.
Thanks Skye, appreciate.
Haven’t had a chance to get in yet, but where are you getting passion fruit and flowers from (as well as the skins)?
Hi. Why is there a need for
-useOldFov
when we can just remove
-testVerticalFov
from the shortcut as stated on this page:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/FOV-Field-of-View-Changes-Beta-Test
?
Thanks.
Vertical FOV is the default now. You’d use the -UseOldFov now if you wanted the old FOV back due to performance issues.
I was going to dial in to work, but realized I need to do timesheet and status report stuff today. Instead, I’ll have to suffer with leaving at lunch.
Oh, the pain.
Wish I had patch notes to read in the meantime…
Patience, they’re getting hammered.

Jade Quarry is always looking for more intelligent players like yourself, and FIRE is always recruiting. We’d love to have you give us a try. Tell ’em Volkon sent you.
Is it finally time for… ?
Oh my… 20 slot bags that don’t cost 10g plus to make?
Insert salivation .gif here.
So basically, if it takes six hours (for example) to run the full gamut and someone only can make half an hour or so of it, at any point in the chain, they’ll get the reward?
I intend to make well over half an hour.
5 guar using wrath elite all at once. no aoe limit………40 man zerg gone in secs. buh bye pvp balance
What’s that boon that reflects damage back to the source again? Are there ways to spread that? Hmm…
For turtling, I like my idea better:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Idea-for-turtling
It keeps the AOE cap but increases the coordination required to turtle and introduces some limits on it. And makes it look less silly. As for Dolyaks, personally I’d like rewards too, but I can understand that ANet doesnt want rewards attached to anything with zero risk. (you can escort a dolyak and never get attacked, after all.) Such things always attract botters.
You should get rewards for escorting dolyaks if you engage in combat against players who attack the dolyak, though.
I don’t recall how they were before, but perhaps scaling rewards based on how long/far you travel with the dolyak? For example, one from Lowlands to Hills would reward less than one from Victor’s to Hills (even though both are quite important). Possibly even a diminishing return over time if you only take a single route over and over again (Lowlands to Hills, for example) that could be erased by mixing it up a bit.
But something! We yakslappers need some lovin’ ANet!
First of all, the “limit five people being hit by any AoE” really needs to be upped or removed altogether. It made sense, kind of, when they added it… a few people were able to do tons of AoE damage to balls of people which gave the illusion that under the prior system AoE was overpowered. However, we’re all aware now of turtling and the negative effects this change is having in WvW these days. Surprisingly (or not), by removing the cap on people being hit by AoE damage you remove a lot of the apparent “OP” feel of portals as well by effectively breaking the portal bomb.
Second… it’s time for yaks to matter again. By that I mean it’s time to reinstate rewards for yak escorts, even if they’re reduced from what they were in the past. During the course of a campaign there are many times where having a group of people on yak escort is vital. You need to upgrade your keeps, get rid of the paper doors, get waypoints, etc. Without the rewards, people that dedicate themselves (as I often do) to those menial tasks do so knowing there’s nothing in it for them. Often people simply won’t volunteer for this needed task for that very reason. So please ANet, reconsider the poor, humble yak and those that slap them along.
I wonder if the ring shown may be a possibility as a “gifted” item for those attending the events?
Back in May on the Guru forums I had this idea regarding fishing:
——————————————————————————————————————————————-
Right now, fishing isn’t in the game, so this is purely hypothetical. However, imagine if they were to introduce it, what they could to with it.
- Craftable fishing poles, various levels of poles perhaps, or even various levels of hooks jewelers could make.
- Obviously more cooking options.
- Random dynamic events. Imagine if you accidentally hooked a Hylek leader and started a local skirmish, or hooked a long sleeping creature on the bottom of the lake that went into a rampage.
- fishing competitions would be possible I imagine…
I hope they’ll consider it… in the GW2 universe they could make fishing a whole lot more than buy a pole and cast a line.
Your skill bar changes with the pole equipped.
1. Cast. Distance of the cast is dependant on how long you hold the key down and it’s straight line from where you’re facing.
2. Jiggle. You give your bait a little wiggle.
3. Set hook. When you get a visual indicator that something is nibbling your bait you use three to set the hook which leads to:
4. Land/Reel in. Bring the fish in. Landing the fish could be made more complicated with things like drag, etc, but maybe not just yet.
5. Bait hook. Opens your tackle box (new bag type) and allows you to select baits as well as sinkers or bobbers.
Depending on bait and depth different fish could become available. The Tackle box would be a bag with a certain number of slots in it that solely holds fishing equipment. Different size tackle boxes could be crafted.
Other event idea(s):
An NPC needs help clearing a dock or favorite spot of some nasties so he can fish. As a reward, you can buy certain baits, maybe a recipe, plus get advice on how to catch a certain type of fish for karma.
- Ideally, a tackle box could be taken out as a complete bag and stored, with contents intact, in your bank, or be a separate bag slot always available to your character that can only hold a tackle box.

What I could see, potentially, is that when Legendary armor is introduced it also has an infusion slot on it. One potential here is that with the introduction of additional dungeons they can add additional “infusion requirements”, allowing people to either upgrade their currently owned Ascended set with new infusions or go and gather a whole new set of Ascended armor to specifically infuse for the new content. You’d have a perfect example of a lateral progression as opposed to vertical, which would pinnacle still at Legendary but allow you to spread out in a variety of ways targeting specific areas. So, our first step will be to get ascended “agony” armor. When the next version of this content comes out, we could either get a new set of “omgwtfbbq” ascended armor or sidegrade our “agony” set to “omgwtfbbq” by changing the infusions.
There’s an elegance to this type of progression that sticks true to their word while still giving us continuing armor goals to be reached.
Oh, for legendaries, maybe you simply choose to change the infusions as you go along. After all, I’m sure they’ll be in the “hard to get” range still.
Account isn't asking for linked authenticator.

Good morning all! Happy Saturday!
My account for the past week or so, when I log in, doesn’t ask for my linked authenticator. I’ve tried even this morning unlinking the authenticator and redoing it to no avail. Any ideas what may be going on?
Thanks all!
Let’s face it… we’re all victims of the 2v1 at some point. It’s a matter of opportunity. For example, we see Black Gate hitting Bay from the northeast (held by SBI) and decide it’s advantageous for us to hit SBI down south to split them up and not only take advantage of less resistance but to help BG crack a fully fortified Bay, which helps us out as well (BG being behind in points, SBI ahead, better for BG to have the point ticks). Other times we’ll be getting hit at two places simultaneously for assumed similar reasons.
Basically, you’d be a fool to not take advantage of your enemies current weaknesses with an impromptu 2v1. If helping BG for the moment weakens SBI, it helps us. Perhaps hitting BG from a different direction when SBI is pressing them helps us grabs a strategic location from BG. Maybe BG and SBI find a moment of opportunity by both hitting us.
So yes. We’ve all been teamed up on. We’ve all been victimized by the 2v1. It happens, it’ll happen again. You’d be foolish to not do it on occasion.
Well i’m sure that book has no strategy, that can win in the mentioned situations (20 vs 50+ equipment). So that won’t solve anything.
…
Ugh.
You’ve completely failed to comprehend that this is exactly why you’re losing these battles. You’re pre-destined to lose them. Period. You’re expected to lose them. Siege isn’t the problem. Your tactics are. Let’s slow this down a bit.
You want to attack a superior force. All things being equal, this is strike one.
You want to attack a fortified position. Strike two.
You don’t (or won’t) understand why these result in a losing situation. Strike three.Think. If they’re there, they’re not somewhere else. Attack where they’re not. Starve them out. Beat them with points. Who cares if they hold a keep if the rest of the map is yours? If you want to charge head first into a fortified position with inferior numbers… you can’t blame the game for the inevitable results.
You fail to see one point of wvw. Chaos. Chaos serves in that way that many surprises can happen. If every battle was pre-destinied who wins (bigger force), then wvw would be boring and pointless. Wvw is about the battle you cannot win and still win. Look at youtube. So many guild posting ‘omg was so fun we owned them outnumbered’. Those alone proof you point wrong. But that is a whole other topic, strategy, that doesn’t really have to do with this.
There are those that succumb to chaos, and those that create order from it.
Just a simple thread to share those little moments that made you secretly giggle like a school girl while playing WvW… for example, yesterday during a fight for control of a supply camp, a downed player near the top of a cliff edge and me on my guardian that I’m leveling.
Yep, Hammer 4.
To see him clear the edge, then a couple moments later the experience pops up and a bag forms at my feet… all I needed was a caddy to carry my weapons. I admit to giggling enough that the kids wondered what was up.
Phoebe Ascension writes:
The book probably say ‘fall back you cannot win this’.The book says fight on your terms, not the enemy’s.
Thd TL;DR version of The Art of War:
Attack when the enemy retreats, retreat when he attacks, attack when and where he does not expect it, attack where he is weak.
I love you.
>cough< In a manly, warlike kind of blood bath way of course.

Very simple and fair solution: AoE can only hit 5 targets therefore mesmer portal should disappear after 5 people travel though it.
There is no reason to allow an entire 50+ zerg to use a single portal.
Actually, they arbitrarily put the “max five people for AoE” limit in there because AoE was seemingly too powerful against large numbers. However, it has resulted in this problem. I think, and it’s worth considering, that the AoE cap should be raised to perhaps ten or so instead.
“50 people (on higher ground) + much equipment (and trebuchet) vs 20 people no equipment (but can build them). You tell me like it’s a breeze but you forget again one important thing. The enemy will kill the equipment before it is build. We cannot counter in time.”
OK, hold on here. You’re attacking superior numbers in a fortified and defensible position, and you think the problem is that they have arrow carts?
No.
The problem is that you’re tactically clueless for doing this in the first place. Here’s what you need to do. Go out (or check the internet) and find a copy of Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War”. Read it.
Then you’ll realize why arrow carts aren’t the problem.
FIRE was in force on BG borderlands for awhile last night, but our North East presence is still feeling the effects of Sandy and Halloween took a lot of time from our player base. Hell, even I managed to sneak the Emissary of the Mad King title… just don’t tell anyone. I heard we were also affected by a couple guild transfers. JQ is far from dead however.
After seeing so many orbs flying out of fully upgraded and repaired structures I’m glad to see them disabled for the time being. Cheaters turned them from a really nice addition to WvW into an annoyance. Now ANet can take care of issues with much less stress to all of us.
