I for one welcome these changes! I would also love to see environmental creatures exhibiting various behaviors:
- More different predating behaviors. We have these jaguars hunting and killing nearby rabbits, same for ettins, sometimes we even see a jaguar fithing a ram, but I’d like to see another pattern such as flocks of animals invading an area for some time or until a triggered “flock” event has been finished.
- Other fauna-related event would be fight for survival! For some time an area would grow more plants that could be harvested if the player managed to finish the event, but animals would become agressive and gain boons to protect the area, like a way to fight for the food. Obviously only herbivorous animals. If they succeeded before the timer expired, their number would increase. If they failed, a champion king would spawn to protect the area. Killing the beast would reward like 3 patches of different plants to be harvested. Such event would have a 12h cooldown.
- Stampede events! Close to a river we could run into a wave of heavy animals rapidly rushing into different directions with a permanent non-removable stability and causing knockbacks as they run through players, they would also have a periodic protection boon (whenever they reach first point of location before redirecting to somewhere else, and so on). The reason would be revealed if the players managed to stay within small circles (like PvP conquest ones) for some period. Killing any of such animals would fail the event. After standing for 2min. inside each of these circles, the animals would “calm down”, and then there would be a swarm of black jaguars along with elites which have annoying stealth skills. Killing them would give the player a Peaceful buff that increases MF by 30% while they’re in the map.
Sorry, for some reason twitch blocked me from messaging. The question is:
In HoT, are we going to start seeing isolate plots going on? Like, Destiny’s Edge 2.0 members (Braham, Taimi, Marjory, Kasmeer, etc) questing by themselves for PERSONAL interests not necessarily tied to striking the Elder Dragon?
I just had a random idea the other day, and thought I’d let you guys know. As always, this can look (and be) a total mess, but most of the times ideas spike OTHER ideas, so no harm at all, right?
It’s a concept called “Building Refinement” based on supply management to add more depth to how supplies are used in WvW as a counter for siege attacks. It can be tweaked in several ways.
Simply put: there would be different types of supply. The regular one, and others which are infused with magical energy/technology. At every X minutes (50min?) the Supply Camp would receive a 5min.-duration buff:
- Refined Supply (5m): The supply camp has acquired advanced technology. For a short period supplies will be refined for stronger building.
During this period, Dolyaks would take a different type of supply that adds some effect to defending points (walls and doors). How supplies are managed is something to be thought out. The effects applied to the walls could be:
- Damage Absorption: Absorbs 50% incoming damage from siege.
- Damage Retaliation: Retaliates 20% incoming damage back to attacking siege.
- Cursed Pestilence: Applies 15 stacks of bleeding (20s) and 8 stacks of torment (20s) to attacking siege operator and all nearby allies (radius: 240).
- High Tech: Defending points have 20% chance of disabling attacking siege (4min. cd per siege).
- Sharpened Steel: Guards receive boons periodically (30s of retaliation, protection, and fury [cooldown: 5min.]).
- Last Resort: Upon reaching a critical stage, walls and doors activates a Reflection Shield for 2min. (cooldown: 20min.)
- HP Threshold: 20%
Too overpower? Too meh? Well that’s a crude idea, if you guys have any thoughts, I’d love to read them.
I’m brazilian too, and I think it’s VERY unlikely they will ever translate it. Tbh it’s not really necessary, and as some people pointed out we have yet to find a good translation aside from Blizzard games which are surprisingly well-done.
An MMO without underwater content?!?! Even World of Warcraft has it. lol
Some people are just clueless.
They need underwater sections, gets to boring if it’s all land based.
I didn’t mean to sound sarcastic. I too think it gets boring if it’s all land based.

I seriously hope they aren’t locking SAB because the issue when W2 came out (Josh was blamed for not Q&A testing enough, sync problems, etc). I think we should add weight to our voices spreading the word farther than these forums. SAB is unique, and Josh is awesome for coming up with it, and should get a raise, or maybe find some place where his skills are valued. #mad
It’s just a simple game, do they fear SAB will lure the attention off the xpac? It sort of is already. Believe it or not I have a bunch of buddies complaining about xpac features, calling it shallow in content and whatnot.
Just one thing: This April Fools was a major disappointment. ’Nuff said.
The VRAM issue shouldn’t affect GW2 at all, I rarely use more than 1.5gigs in gw2
Oh, that’s awesome. I won’t use my new PC for fancy games, and wow, 1.5 is very far from 3.5.
Wow, thanks guys! I’ve discovered there are some issues with 970’s VRAM, but I’m glad it performs so nicely. #HandsCookies
How well does a GTX 970 perform for GW2? I’ve also acquired an i5 4440, and 8GB RAM, but I target my question to the graphics card specifically.
I’d like to see wings that fold up when your char isn’t moving but flap when you do. Tricky to do I suppose
Indeed. They would just have to add different animations:
- Default behavior when casting skills, using emotes, and whatnot: Your wings softly flap.
- Standing/idle: You float VERY SLIGHTLY over the ground while your wings softly flap.
- Moving: Same as above, but slightly quicker flapping.
- Jumping: You kind of swoop into a direction having your wings more tight.
- After-jump landing/falling: You open your wings wide open while landing/falling, and your wings slowly flap because of friction against the air.
Additional/optional:
- Dodging: Dashes towards a direction with your wings more tight (somehow like jumping), in an elegant maneuver (or at least in a way that makes sense). Asura animations could be very awesome as they have funny movements (think swirling towards a direction!).
Difficulties:
- A handful of new animations to be added, it surely WILL take a lot of work from the devs, which they unfortunately don’t seem to be able to spend right now (or in a foreseable future).
- Transitioning between animations is already bugged sometimes (when blinking for example, animation won’t reset and you stand idle, or when falling and you drag your face against the ground).
Plus:
- Most of us will love it, and intelligent people who don’t like will simply ignore.
- China players will love it because Aion, Lineage, etc. lol

Maybe the first batch will match which new weapon each specialization will feature.
New legendaries/precursors won’t be tradable? YEAAAAH! GW2 is now officially out of beta!
This tool is inspired by Wildstar, in Wildstart the mining tools work EXACTLY as this one.
My friend just bought the game and was invited, while I was not, but see if I care…
Congratz to everyone who got an invite.
I’m not really surprised…I got no email.
Same ol…same ol…never got picked for a Beta I signed up for and probably never will.Sigh…
Cheer up! There will be other betas before HoT release. ^^
Oh my oh my! I hope they pick me!
Gonna fill my PC with screenshots for wiki purposes. ^.^
Please don't release between april 8 and 22
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

First, congratulations on the job! Hope you can further you career there.
That being said, ArenaNet can’t schedule the company releases based on a single player’s reality. This means that, if HoT is released out of your training period, then good, if not, well that happens.
One idea would be a Attunement Empower button.
- Attunement Empower (40s): Charges your currently attuned element boosting damage and adding a unstable phenomena around yourself. (radius: 360)
- Volcano (10s): Due to fire outburst, you’re summoning strong lava pools around. Unstable ground may explode, launching foes away.
- Blizzard (10s): Due to icy outburst, you’re summoning chilling whirlwinds. Unstable blizzard may cause whirlwinds to blind foes.
- High Voltage (10s): Due to a high voltage outburst, you summon lightning strikes around causing vulnerability. Unstable lightning storm may apply an Electrical Discharge to foes.
- Electrical Discharge (5s): You’re charged and damaging nearby allies.
- Magnetism (10s): Due to earth instability, you summon magnetic fields around which pull enemies. Unstable magnetism may knockdown enemies.
There, a geomancer.

I loved that flavor text, and I agree with OP. They should bring it back.
maybe they will do something weird like we still have the ability to change element , but we can only do it out of combat or every 180 sec , but let us weapon swap. who knows
That’s ridiculous. That would defeat the core mechanics of the class, regardless of specializations.
Where is our Signet of Arcana (passive: chance to proc 2sec quickness on hits, active: recharge all attunements) elite?
I’m confident that ele sword meta will revolve around vulnerability and condition damage, as well as evasive gameplay. There might be changes to elemental glyphs, or a new elite that assists in such gameplay, and a new trait line as well.
With current changes to burning, we could expect a little nerf here and there in other classes, and a burst to sword/scepter.
This is all speculation though.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Specialization
“Specializing keeps base profession skills and traits in addition to the new ones provided by that specialization”
yes it does….
As I’m the wiki editor who wrote most of that article, I’d like to link my source for credibility:
“Colin: We’re really trying to make it feel like it’s almost a sub-profession or a secondary profession if you will, and not just a new set of a couple of skills. It’s not just opening up the capacity to use a staff. When a ranger becomes a druid, they have an entire new set of skills and traits that come available to them. And their profession mechanic changes as well. That’s true with all the specialisations. You actually play the profession differently, not just in skills and traits, but in the core mechanics of those professions. Some of them will change an existing profession, some of them might give them entirely new profession abilities and remove other ones. It really varies specialisation to specialisation, but it really should feel like you are playing a new version of your old profession. And players can actually mix and match a little bit. If you are playing as a Druid you will be able to use a lot of the Ranger’s skills, and you can actually slot them in to make a lot of creative builds. But a Ranger can not use any of the stuff a Druid has unless they become a Druid.” – PCGamer

How is it unfair? You don’t have to buy it, after all.
Also, is there any info about there actually being a white feather back piece? oO
I know I don’t have to buy, but just a color change… well, each to their own.
Maybe not legendary weapons, but regular exotic or ascended weapons (more likely). Contest participants would design the weapon, and the devs would come up with the acquisition method.
I suck at drawing, but I’ve seen many people with pretty sweet artistic skills.
Tbh this is kinda unfair… same thing but different color. This happens with Glint’s Gaze Mask and the like. :/
My problem with Marjory, is the voice acting, and I use the word ‘acting’, in very broad terms. The voice actor is horrible. Monotone, no emotions in the voice. I guess it was okay as a film noir shtick, in a minor role, that she had at first. But now that she has a larger, and longer term role, that voice is very bad and annoying.
Agreed. It was cool at first, but now it is the very same intonation for every single dialogue. Jesus, vary a bit girl!
Taimi is adorable, and she’s perfect, and she’s awesome, and I wouldn’t take anything. Canach also has a believable base for character progression, hope to see him kicking kitten very soon.
The view could be fantastic as you’d have your camera from up above looking down, especially with max FoV.
A Llama. With. A tie. And a hat. Oh you, ArenaNet. #depressed_face
Kal, I pay a few gems so you can get SAB, now shush and kindly agree.
You have spent all the luck for this game, no precursors or the like for you.
Oh now Valento, don’t be mean.
Congrats, Gunga Din — you did well!
Gaile, these dyes aren’t shadow! They are pure doom. There, a new naming convention for future DARKER dyes: Doom. Can’t wait for Pink Doom, or Shylac Doom.
@LucosTheDutch, that’s the beautfy (?) of marketing, or should I say black magic? :P
Lol, am I missing something? Why is everyone hating on wings?
This should give you an idea how most people feel about the wings and why: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rgKr2ynfjw
Bwahahahah that zoom in remaining time made me spit my coffee.
2 days in guild systems were fixed. To be honest that is good enough for me for the game to not feel as broken. Lots of fixes in total in the last few days. If they’re continue going like this, it should be completely fine in a week. I do appreciate the speed that they’re working at to fix it all
Ditto.
