One reason: Casuals that love farming. Spamming pewpew is a relief it seems.
One thing’s for sure: there is something on the table.
Or under the chair.
I don’t intend derailing the hype train, but here’s a thing:
“On January 8 2015, NCsoft filed to trademark Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns. The type of the trademark is service mark.”
Legendary auras are supposed to only appear when legendaries are being wielded. Anything different from that is simply a bug that should have been fixed ages ago.
There are plenty of water. It would be an epic fail if they made all underwater content unused.
Today’s patch will reveal nothing anyways. We’ll have to wait for PAX South. Here’s hoping predictions don’t fail (again).
If they did not announce an expansion….. one is not coming.
Players have waited for some of the things that did get announced, have waited two years (and counting) for them, and you guys are acting like anet is going to surprise everyone with an expansion without saying anything about it?
Precisely. They need to publicize it. Let’s wait for PAX.
The prediction.
If it fulfills people’s dreams, why not?
The current living story.
LW leading to an ED could mean anything.
The trademark registration.
They’ll launch a new framework for the game, that could be how they’ll market LW seasons from now on.
The fact that we know that they are working on big things in the background.
This is a VERY old talk.
Two people from the very top of the company having a 90 minute panel at the main stage at PAX South.
Marketing is a need in any company, and Colin has excelled at this in many previous interviews since game’s launch. Though I agree they’ll release new information about game’s future yeah.
See, I’m not being pessimistic. I’m just warning people to chill out because if ANet doesn’t deliver what most are expecting players will get frustrated again. We’ve seen expansion talks/rumors a billion times now.
That’s negative logic. You’re making the assumption that the main reason people think an expansion is coming because of Daewoo Security. I couldn’t care less what they say.
My argument for an expansion (or at least expansion like content) isn’t based even slightly by what Daewoo has to say.
So therefore, your logic doesn’t apply.
I’m not applying logic anywhere, I’m just saying these are the only hints we have around expansion. I’m curious what your argument is based on, though.
Sometimes I get amazed by the amount of integrated systems working together in this game. I wonder how it does not fail in a such a wiiiiide variety of PCs…
You guys are soooo optimistic. They’ll keep polishing things that don’t need polishing and use that as an excuse to actual CONTENT. They’ve been behaving like this all 2014, and it’s going to be the same in 2015.
See, they’re also great to create hype trains. The simple statement “Living World was just the beginning” erupted a lot of ZOMG’s.

And I don’t understand why we still don’t get Kudu’s back item from Crucible of Eternity story mode, where he’s last boss.
ahh ok thought you meant new mats, got confused, think it would be better if instanced though
Well, it’s just an idea, it could be used for new matts. Actually for many other things. I’ve always been fond of scavenger hunts, or more interesting stuff than just pew-pew. (although pew-pew happens most of the time lol)
Regular materials (Mithril, Platinum, Gold, Omnomberry, Elder Wood Log, etc). For this work they would have to drastically reduce amount of these raw materials received from salvaging (which has become main income of such materials). This idea could be tweaked for many other things as well, I just loved the framework.
We have this bold group of asura named Exploration Squad. I picture a love relationship such as Agent Zott & Elli, some member being as annoying as Councillor Phlunt, etc, like a somehow noisy squad.
Exploration Squad will appear at random, mob-crowded, dangerous locations throughout Tyria and stablish a small camp. They will be looking for help to dig deeper (pun unintended) into Tyria’s underground to uncover highly valued resources (ores, plants, wood, etc), but since they have a busy agenda, if no one shows up they’ll simply relocate/go home (after all they deserve some rest). The idea is to start up a chain of events, first of such is triggered after talking to the NPC.
Throughout the course they will uncover limited-time mining nodes (no rich nodes, just regular ones), and difficulty will increase as they go deeper underground. Those pesky Inquest will try to mess up with the plan, so there will be escort and protect events as well. Going underground is dangerous as no one knows where Primordus’ minions are hiding, some Exploration locations will have a difficult legendary Destroyer guarding an unique mining node or harvesting garden (which the boss doesn’t know what it is, but for some reason is standing between our squad and the goodies, so yeah just kill this thing!).
At the end of this event chain our Exploration Squad will shake the map’s terrain causing new mining nodes to appear in that map. In the last event there will always be 3 gathering nodes, one of them is a time-gated rich one only for those who participed in that closing event. There will be a notice below that map’s meta-event displaying a 10minutes reward that depends on the map:
- Revitalized Flora: The Exploration Squad injected experimental chrolophyll underground causing new plants to show up. Beware! This experiment may have unpredictable behavior in the ecossystem.
- Seismic Toss: The Exploration Squad has striken deep underground causing new rock formations to show up. Beware! This experiment may have unpredictable behavior in the ecossystem.
- Chemical Explosion: The Exploration Squad accidentally injected a chemically-empowered substance underground causing new trees to show up. Beware! This experiment may have unpredictable behavior in the ecossystem.
“What unpredictable behavior?” – You must be asking. When attempting to harvest/mine/log nodes… THAT NODE WILL GET ALIVE AND ATTACK YOU! (I’ve seen this mechanic somewhere, but it’s cool nonetheless).
That’s it. Hope you guys like. Oh, killing these mobs will have a chance to drop that node’s specific rare item. If it’s a living rocky mob it may drop crystals. If it’s a living plant mob it may drop an unidentified dye (because logics…). Hahah #kthxbai
I don’t think Mordy is going to die, or at least I hope he doesn’t.
“Gem Store reward track”??? kitten did I just read? Most of awesome skins have only been available in GemStore and now cashers want more?
Wow. Just wow. Horrible idea.
Only thing that matters for me is crafting. I had to roll out a new character because my sylvari ele had many recipes unlocked, if only there was a way to migrate crafting progress to another character…
I’d still go for dual-wield disc-like weapons for eles, or something dual-wield. I must admit I never thought about a whip and now my head’s exploding! <3
Don’t you guys think this lodestone deserves more love? I’m not trying to manipulate TP in any way, but it looks as a good candidate material for beautiful skins and it’s so low value/underused when compared to others. Thoughts?
Lately I feel Ambrite Weapons are more legendary than legendaries themselves.
A have an alternative that we are considering.
A little background first. We are only looking at making this change to tidy up the front page of the forum, not hide all old posts. While the archived forums are in their own ‘Archive’ category, they still take up a significant amount of space, and we’re looking to give the front page a cleaner look.
So, let me know what you all think of this alternative plan:
Instead of making the archived subforums unavailable to read, we can ‘unpublish’ the subforums from the front page. These subforums would still be accessible (read-only) via a direct link to the page, but would not show up as links in the forum index.
Deal. I also think it’s a bit ugly there, but making them unavailable is just not fair. I agree with this plan, and make it accessible through a quaggan icon. #kthxbai
Condi. damage is just a slight plus, and you get more stats altogether which are much worth it for survivability and support. It works perfectly in fractals and other not-so-much-brainless content.
Oh, and raw numbers don’t make up for poor gameplay and/or unpredictable circumstances that may happen (heavy hp loss -> switch to water for decent healing + aoe support). It’s all about synergy, something zerker gear will never have for eles.
(edited by Valento.9852)
I’ve been running a celestial staff ele and I’m not even thinking about changing back to zerker. I’m glad I’m free from that meta, now (with my traits) I can deal almost the SAME damage with great direct damage/condi. damage output and healing/condi. removal output. Celestial has changed elementalist builds completely.
Why not spend more time with graphics guys sorting out linear algebra math to resolve all these clipping issues… there must be a way, I’m sure.
A complete revamp of the engine the game is running on? Not impossible, but I don’t think that the newest engine will be applied for GW2 (imagine all the reworking that will need to be done).
Some people really expect a bit too much ‘realism’ in their computer game..
I hail from the good old time when these were state-of-the-art graphics (check the clipping!!)
No. Not really. Asking for hair clipping fix isn’t “expecting too much realism”. I’m sure a computer graphics expert can come up with some sort of mesh merge. Given how powerful GPUs are today, that should be possible. If devs want a starting point: Geometry Shader. #kthxbai
PS.: MAKE USE OF GPUS!
@Edit
ANet, I found a link that maybe help you guys fix clipping: http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/released-neverclip-removes-common-clipping-bugs.276601/

On behalf of Yak’s Bend [UL] Ultimate Legion guild, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a happy New Year! May the RNG Gods bless us all!
Well, on the positive side, the Avatar of the Pale Tree mini does have a firefly/glitter aura that rivals Faren’s. Still, her unblinking, thousand-yard stare only gifts her with slightly more personality than Trahearne.
Poor Trahearne, this won’t end well
To arms!
If wonder what kind of physics collision they use for character models, I guess it’s just a box collision one. Why not spend more time with graphics guys sorting out linear algebra math to resolve all these clipping issues… there must be a way, I’m sure.
Who narrates original Wintersday trailer?
You can control your projectile path, from the wiki:
“Some skills require a target in order to be activated (eg. Phantasmal Berserker), while others can be used regardless despite having a single-target behavior (eg. Fireball). Projectile skills which don’t require a target and are fired without a target will take player’s and camera’s directions into account to determine projectile’s path, for example, one could move their camera up and down while firing projectiles to see how free-form projectiles pathfinding works.”
It may prove a bit <hallenging, but can be done given how the game works.
(edited by Valento.9852)
They rely on RNG because they cannot develop difficult PvE content whatsoever. They. Simply. Can’t. This game isn’t really for all people, it is for casuals or kids in that matter. If you see other posts this is the only major thing I’m frustrated about Guild Wars 2 since launch, and as the problem lies deep within game core it’s likely we’ll never see a real fix; only badly-worded band-aids.
I’m about to get a clicking disease… please, add a Use All option for consumables’ context menu.

This could count for containers too, for such there are two options programming-wise:
A) Count number of available slots, if last “rolled out” item exceeds slot number, drop lower rarity items from roll or rollback that last item and quit processing rolls. Something like:
[pre]itemsArray = new itemArray();
for (container in containers){
for (c in container){
while (count(itemsArray) > availablePlayerInventory()){
itemsArray = rollLoot(CONTAINER_ID);
}
appendToInventory(itemsArray);
itemsArray.clear();
if (isPlayerInventoryFull()) {
break; // Next attemps should throw a “Inventory full” warning
}
}
}[/pre]
B) Mail us with exceeding items. This would overflow current mail amount you can receive, but then they’ll be system-generated and as such would be an allowed exception. Maybe:
[pre]itemsArray = new itemArray();
for (container in containers){
for (c in container){
itemsArray = rollLoot(CONTAINER_ID);
if (isPlayerInventoryFull()) {
dispatchLootByMail(itemsArray, MAIL_ALLOWED_OVERFLOW_FLAG); // Let those mail carriers be used!
itemsArray.clear();
}
}
}[/pre]

DX12 and OpenGL NG are still being drafted, I wonder when we’ll be able to experiment mostly GPU-driven high-scale applications/systems such as MMOs.
@aspirine, my apologies, I got it all wrong. I thought you couldn’t do with a party, so it’s not as bad as I thought it was, but still. Why kick out friends from my party? Still stands pointless.
Hell I liked to do it alone last year. It’s one of the most fun mini games in GW2.
You can always enter instance alone… this change is pointless… guess I’m losing these achievements this time.
I sincerely hope it is just a bug. I want to do this with my friends, I always do stuff with my friends…
Are you HOLY MOTHER OF INSTANCES serious??????
I will check this today and I hope you’re mistaken, like, really.
I played yesterday! Looks OK to me, it looks like it should anyways… I don’t get all the hate. I’m just disappointed about the endless tonics collection (yeah I’m a collection w****e), too expensive.
