I honestly never saw a dev approaching playerbase this close, even when they’re all hanging torches and pitchforks… you’re awesome, Gaile. <3
I believe he’s done some work for Silverwastes encounters, but honestly they’re not really challenging. Sure it’s more than other parts of the game, but it means other content are too faceroll to be based of.
Agreed. Thieves are by far the best because of the amount of stealth.
Also, I haven’t even tried this yet, but I believe my Thief would have a ton of other advantages over my Guardian. I have a passive 25% movement speed buff, I have faster Dodge regeneration, allowing me to dodge a few more wolf attacks, in a pinch I could even use the SB teleport to get some distance. Given all that, I may move my Thief from camping Dry Top to camping Silverwastes, even though I’ve been running SW with my Guard this whole time, and prefer him for all other aspects of the map, and prefer my Thief on DT. It’s a bummer of a choice.
Soon SW will become a huge zerg of thieves. yikes…
I kinda like it. I think it’s too ‘busy’ to sustain itself in the long run, but for now it’s entertaining. The labyrinth, on the other hand — I got the achievement and have had two keys drop for the chest — but last night I didn’t bother with it and probably won’t ever bother with it again unless another key drops.
Are you seriously doing lab because of key drops?
I believe the answer to your question may be found in the post you quoted but evidently didn’t actually read.
Yes, I did. Sorry. But then why would you avoid doing it? Found it boring or something?
I find it interesting they’re called “mender” just like sylvari also have their menders.
I think Caithe is somehow being controlled by Faolain. Maybe her love for Faolain led her to believe that somehow she could heal her love from Nightmare by attempting a ritual with the egg, though that would be too much obssession with Faolain…
I look forward to comeback from Faolain not so far.

I enjoy it. I die a lot, but I enjoy it. One thing you might want to make sure you do though, is treat it like Pac Man, play the minimap. Make sure to zoom in a few steps from max, until you can see the internal dimensions and maybe one more step so you get a clear view of the local terrain. Aim to run from gear to gear (the light bulbs), keep an eye on the enemy icons, let them run right by you when you’re down a different corridor. Spend more time watchig the map, and just glance at the live screen to note chest locations and terrain shifts.
Also, one thing I didn’t notice for several runs, there are three rounds, each of which gives you a reward pack for contributing to that stage, that much I knew, but also, the small chests seem to respawn and shift with each round, so if you’re really good and clear out all the chests in the first round, by the second some of them will be back, and others will be in places where none were the last time. It seems to be a system of dozens of potential locations, only some of which are available each round.
And yeah, I go in there with a guard, and yes, it sucks. I really do wish that they’d figured out a way to better balance this encounter for all classes, like locking out all abilities as long as you’re in there, whether you have your light buff up or not.
Agreed. Thieves are by far the best because of the amount of stealth.
I like it alot. It’s nice having enemies that require more than the “stack here and run through skill combos without really looking at what the enemies are doing until they’re all dead” meta that is the majority of a dungeon run. Or the running around pressing 1 1 1 1 1 as in the majority of the PvE zerg content.
I also like the reward system they’ve introduced…. now you’re encouraged to stick around and help to complete the zone instead of just tagging as many enemies as possible as the highest priority.
For me it has a nice combination of fun and (relatively) challenging content while still making me enough money to not feel like I should be running dungeons or in Orr because I need cash.
Those are pretty much my thoughts too, it feels balanced. Maybe not the ultimate perfect model but it’s a great step in right direction.
They’re annoying because they don’t drop kitten.
Only defense event ones, ALL of the others drop stuff. I have a very good drop rate of T6 mats, and if you don’t like defending you can always escort dolyaks.
Main problem is that ANet created a (possibly unintended) horrible experience in Orr when game first launched, there would be crowds of mobs that you would easily smash and get loot for free. Now that they’re changing items acquisition, old farmers get mad, and even now you can farm but it’s somehow less than before, you have to do a thing or two instead of melting lots of mobs.
For me, that’s a positive thing. Tangled Labyrinth is a fine example of complementing overall map’s “farm”, and it’s fun too. IMO it feels like a bonus reward for a limited time.
I don’t get why people are ranting about how annoying SW mobs are. Heck, it’s a level 80 area, we should expect annoying mobs to come along. Yes, teragriffs constantly knock you out and root for high damage. Yes, husks immobilize you quite often. Yes, dogs bite you too fast (sadly they don’t gain retaliation when howling, but swiftness instead) and cripple you. Yes, thrashers can be very annoying if they manage to stack on you for torment and cripple. Yes! Leechers can be kitten annoying because of their vines dealing decent damage to you from quite a far range. Not to mention vines, and occasional elementals, or dust mites, etc.
Am I the only one who sees mobs really highlighting SW environment and being actually fitting for the map?
Also, I share this guy’s opinion on events and luminescent gloves collection:
Repost from another thread:
After some reflection last night (and trying out the new content), I now believe the inconsistent acquisition methods for the Carapace armor was intended, for the following reasons:
1. Having the players “re-farm” the Silverwastes and the Breach bosses is a way of prolonging player interest and map longevity, as others have said.
2. There are actually lots of ways of acquiring the Gloves:
- You get 1 from completing the Tangled Paths LS chapter
- You can earn 1 from completing the (non-repeatable) Silverwastes PvP reward track
- You can buy 1 from the Bandit Crest Merchants for 1g + 1000 Crests
- Glove chests are a rare drop from the Greater Nightmare Pod, and also from Lost Bandit Chests (rumors say that they can also drop from the Lesser Nightmare Pods, but at a much lower rate than from the Greater Pod)Furthermore, the new Labyrinth actually helps speed up acquisition of Bandit Crests. You get more Crests each time the Labyrinth tiers go up, which means an additional ~50 Crests if you’re in a populated map with lots of people grabbing the Lesser Pods. This increases the average number of Crests you can earn within a single round of SW.
You can furthermore speed this up by constantly taxiing to different SW instances that are at their Breach/Labyrinth phase. I managed to earn a stack of Crests in about a little over an hour, which means I could conceivably farm up the 1000 I need within a single day. (I plan on doing the PvP reward track for the 3rd.)
3. I have a suspicion that ANet is once again tying the LS into the different game modes to encourage players to return and populate different parts of the game. I fully expect some of the subsequent armor pieces to require participation in WvW (Badges of Honor. I suspect that this will be the Chest/Leggings piece, and it will require a big sink of Badges), Fractals (Fractal Relics or Pristine Relics) and possibly dungeons/JP’s.
All that said, I still would have preferred if alts could have gotten the Gloves per run. :P I can now understand why it was done, but I’d still have liked more options.
Good number of varied things to do to “farm” crests. I’m in love with labyrinth, just like SAB’s tribulation mode. Being downed by mordrem lurchers is part of experience, it should be expected that mix of fun & frustration, this is not a hack ’n slash game (to an extent).
So, my question is: is it really weird to like this new map or am I the weird one? #evil_answers_incoming
I hope ANet makes this map hell more annoying, it’s a lvl80 area and SHOULD drive players mad. Because it’s supposed to challenge them while they walk around! Those teragriffs are awesome.
Really, people should stop complaining about everything. If you want casual gaming without thinking go and play a mobile game…
This.

Because teef would sound silly.
You’re missing that tongue vowel (th). :P
They actually fixed what the thread is about awhile ago. At the bottom of the currency exchange screen there is an option to enter a custom amount.
They fixed part of it. I’ve yet to see the ability to sell just a few gems, or to get the remaining silver and copper you’re due when you sell gems for gold.
Didn’t you hear? It’s fixed. Totally and completely fixed. Nothing to see here, folks. Everything is as it should be.
Agreed. Stop that annoyance, it’s just as it was before patch.
Craftable minis. silence from ANet falls upon the thread
Joke guys! Put those in GemStore and gg!
What if mesmer had skills which allowed to ground-target ranged illusions?
Caithe just needed more hugs.
She couldn’t have done that flippy-spinny thing if someone was hugging her at the time.
sigh That’s what I’m told every now and then.
Now, mesmers, STOP COMPLAINING! Thank you.
You’ll find it amusing that the author of these videos is the same person who is “complaining” in the other thread.
The only thing that these videos show is that it is doable. The problem with the recent mesmer gameplay, though, is that it is slow, frustrating and not enjoyable.
Endure the cross just like rangers have been doing until they got upgraded, or switch classes… nothing much we can do.
I soloed this boss in story mode, achievements mode, and challenge mode activated. Last one was kinda fun, I failed twice and got it on third, I’m an elementalist spec’d celestial w/ staff and I found it very fun. I’m looking forward to more content like this, but in a guild scale (you know what I mean…).
They should do the same with shoulders and all other pieces IMO.
I soloe’d “Tracking the Aspect Masters” for all achievements before a guide went up in Dulfy’s website, quite fun and reasonably easy.
I own a Celestial-geared elementalist.

HAHAHAHAH staaahp… my belly… hahah seriously, forum jokes always make me laugh as hard as possible.
I read title while singing “The Greatest Love of All”. I giggled.
I think after we defeat Mordremoth, this is… if we do! I for one don’t like much that typical route of “yeh smash da dragon, and ye is hero”, I prefer if he runs away and hides himself, or something.

No they don’t. Everywhere means me included, and that’s a lie since my most expensive drop was worth 20 gold in 2 years.
No, they do. You are just unlucky. My friend dropped from a level 10 zone Moa.
Well, I agree, but meh… ANet wants everything different, even it if means squishy and nonsense.
No, no, and no. If you want to support just buy gems with legit money on a monthly basis.
Please flip that switch.
This is awesome!
We all want it, and that’s exactly why it ain’t gonna happen.
No we don’t all want to pay for an expansions with the requisite level cap increase and gear treadmill as ‘must have’ buys.
Who told you expansions mean level cap increase and/or gear treadmill?
FlamingFoxx got a point, when I think about it yeah… too long duration.
It’s not about changing the effects per se, I also think it’s elegant and graceful, etc, it’s about their durations when comparing to other legendaries.
Why does the small glow on the ground lasts for so little time comparing to other two-handed weapons such Twilight and The Dreamer? And despite its short duration, the rainbow also lasts for very little time.
Considering current state of The Dreamer, don’t you think you could at least lengthen both glow animation and rainbow animation durations? I can even see rainbowy horseshoes overlapping each other because of its duration, despite a giant unicorn flying for its certain death!
TL;DR Increase footsteps and rainbow arc durations, please?
I am blocking all of you.
PLEASE DON’T! We could be friends… /tears
and let us have cool things! #kthxbai
You don’t actually want cool things because reasons. You want tooltip changes and backpacks. This is what you want. This is what you want.
But skills… professions… tooltips? Yes… yes! Tooltips! This is what I’ve been looking for! Thank you, I shall spend a whole day reading those silly skill boxes! <3
I personally would love a GEOMANCER profession, that makes use of terrain to harness magic, but elementalist is kind of that already… they could add a new meta to eles, terrain-based! Just check Water Trident skill animation, there are two eles on a water field casting tridents of water, that’s how I firstly thought they would look like.
I see nothing wrong with ANet introducing PvE-only specializations that further add skills and metas to all classes, just worry not with competitive (WvW and sPvP), and let us have cool things! #kthxbai
Here’s another rune:
Superior Rune of Gaile
(1): +20 Healing Power
(2): 25% chance of entering a random thread and applying a Excitement buff on every poster (Excitement increases happiness level by 10% on neutral targets, and 1% on haters, but fanbois get Puke Rainbows buff which does what it implies)
(3): +100 Healing Power
(4): 50% chance of summoning I-Think-It-Looks-Amazing shield buff to ANet staff whenever talking about incoming patch’s new features!
(5): +2500[sic] Healing Power
(6): +0.005% chance of getting a response from a dev to something asked from a forum poster.
Superior Rune of Nonsense Nerfing
(1): -10% Logic
(3): 50% chance to nerf rewards upon releasing a patch
(4): -20% Logic
(5): Gains the ability of vanishing after leaving a red post on the forums (no cooldown)
(6): 100% chance to be struck by players when they whine about farming, this trigger a mass nonsense nerf to whatever shuts their mouths quicker.
Maybe, as someone suggested, they could increase chests spawn rate for a limited time after completing meta? Or just clarify that many maaaany of us are just unlucky and that box has a small chance of dropping an exotic?
Old time MMO term. We used it back in Everquest 1. Might have been around before that, but I first heard about in 1999 playing EQ1
Yeah, I am old
Why so sad? That’s actually pretty cool.
