Unfair. You don’t have to buy anything with gems to be in pair with anyone else, GemStore is just about facilities and skins. Of course there has been too much content item-wise being released in GemStore, and if one likes itemization it’s a HUGE letdown, but it’s definitely not pay-to-win.

These precursor topics are always the same. People who want an easier way of attaining something that they have neither the willpower nor attention span to obtain. People say they have spent 5000 hours playing the game and have never gotten a precursor, but if they spent a fraction of that actually trying to save for one then they would have one, no problem.

And not to mention the amount of ‘ideas’ floating around about how to reward precursors based on skill, how long you’ve been playing and dedication etc. It’s a joke. You suggest this knowing full well that as soon as it’d be implimented you’d be elligible for one free legendary. Look at the bigger picture folks; people have legendaries, they work hard for them, they exist. Nothing in the game is unobtainable, just stop waiting for someone to make it easier and farm it yourself.

Sigh. It’s really much simpler than that. WoW is the best example. They pretty much have content releases with major expansions. Before those expansions, the cash income is the lowest. They require those expansions to reinvigorate the game.

Releasing that content when the population is high servers no purpose, because it’s not going to get MORE players. That’s their formula and it works for them.

Guild Wars 2 releases smaller patches more often. Why? Because that keeps players coming back to the game more often. You can see it in the tracking programs. That’s the Guild Wars 2 formula.

No company can release constant content no matter how much money they make. It’s just not reasonable. So logically you hold back the big release for when you need it. That’s business.

Yet anet is capable to provide ten times more content than they did in the last two year. It’s almost like the majority of anet’s resources aren’t spent on GW2…. combining that with their strict company policy on what they are working on we get a pretty intresting result.

Watch out! You’re going to be questioned about that.

I have 5000 playing hours and I recently check how much money I have and….

I have 14,000 gold in selable items… (That is after buying 9 permanent bank licence and have enough gems to buy 52 character slots.

If you have 5000 playing hours and you still can’t afford a precursor. There is only 2 possibility(you spend those 5000 hours in spvp which dont’ earn gold)… or you have enough gold to buy your precursor but you keep complaining.

Precursors are a mess. Don’t go for a legendary if you don’t like the skin and even if you like it. It’s not worth it.

I have another advice: don’t even go for a legendary if you don’t happen to have precursor, it really kittenes people a lot when they’re just waiting on precursor.

From previous posts, support has said they are unable to unlock items you no longer have. The best that can be hoped for at this time is they make it available again in game.

They could send that item by mail. They’ve compensated some losses in the past by doing so, therefore I guess it’s totally feasible, especially considering it’s not final version (complete edition), it’s just a gap in wardrobe.

I’m building courage to hunt Meteorlogicus, but I’m not going anywhere unless I get precursor in hands!

I got Mad Memoires in first Halloween, then got Mad Memoires: Complete Edition, but since I had thrown away Mad Memoires it appears locked in my wardrobe. I think it’s unfair because I played the content and now I can’t reskin if I want, you devs could even check my data and you’ll see I got achievements and such from first Halloween.

Question is: Could you please unlock that skin for me and others who happened to throw away that item before?

You can actually get enough money way faster than 2 years even without said grind.

Well, that’s correct. I got The Bifrost by playing normally and grinding gold to buy the precursor, but it wasn’t pleasant at all since I like itemization, and the acquisition feels crappy.

@Rebound, I haven’t thought about that and it does make sense… 2 years for ONE precursor, feels much more of a reward than a cake-pooping glowy cannon toy. :X

They could say “that would mean everyone would eventually have a precursor, and therefore a legendary, that shouldn’t be in numbers, it’s supposed to be rare”. Sad to spoil that but it’s already too late, I see glowing lights everywhere.

Someone suggested having them to be bought by 200laurels, as it’s a top end-game stuff it seems fair (though I myself don’t have nearly that many laurels).

I crafted The Bifrost and Kraitkin, dropped Venom and bought The Legend, it’s all about RNG. Though I’m not even attempting anymore unless I get precursor beforehand, the feeling of waiting on precursor to finish a legendary is a huge letdown.

I just finished mine last night. I must admit, I’m not very impressed by the backpack design at all, and I fear it’s the final form because we didn’t get a seed or anything. Only made it because of Mawdrey II – getting rid of pesky dusts gives me more additional bank space, which is a plus I suppose.

Finished mine a few weeks ago and I’m not impressed either. I’d like a more delicate flower with longer petals, this one seems weird.

RNG has always been part of RPGs in general, of course it annoys because of how much it’s widely used, and how MF seems to do no difference, and how harder content (higher scales of FotM) seems to reward the same as lowlevels, but IMO it’s more of an implementation issue rather than the nature of such items acquisition.

I guess legendary crafting is traumatizing people to a degree, especially considering the importance of Mystic Forge and the number of bad outcomes. But again, problem lies deeper into game design, not randomness since it’s been present in RPGs since much much long ago.

Well, in that case they could change a skin for a selectable skin box (much like various ascended weapon boxes) instead of solely selling them. And, well, chill out folks.

Please, don’t sell skins for God’s sake. This is one of the genuine “OK” RNG stuff. I only have three but I like the idea of beating a hard content for a chance of getting a skin.

I was playing Allods and by the end of 2011 started playing WoW because I got traumatized by P2W (Allods excelled in that). I played for roughly one month then started hearing and reading about “Guild Wars 2”, the name didn’t strike me as a good one tbh but then I started looking for info and fell in love… but before anything, I was told this would be a pay-to-play game and I was already leaving WoW because of that feeling of “obligation”, I held on till I confirmed it would be buy-to-play, so yeah payment model was a pretty big deal for me.

Early in 2012 I joined GW2 brazilian community and worked hard to get the word spread out, I just had to tell people how amazing this game was (and still is!). I couldn’t believe my eyes when I first played in beta: everything was smooth, fluid, and BEAUTIFUL. My PC was (and still is hahah) not that good, but it can run GW2 at a fairly stable FPS. I focused on emerging into the game… open world was (and still is) my fascination, endgame-wise it doesn’t do good but I love helping out guildies on getting vistas/SP’s every once in a while.

Oh, and yeah, one of the most incredible things for me was being able to conjure elementals! Dunno why, I was amazed by that, and I hope there’ll be a trait line specifically for elementals in the future.

I’d vote for allowing Mawdrey (or another item) to convert luck into random items the player can then salvage or sell, similar to what Bloodstone Dust does now.

I like this idea, like 100Luck= 1 bag of lucky goodies! (mostly junk items LOL)

Gift of Mawdrey II loot table is actually pretty decent, even though I always get crap there’s a chance for lodestones and foxfire cluster… there should be similar items or places you could try your luck daily to sink huge piles of unused items (Mithril Ores and Elder Woods I’m lucking at ya!).

Instanced raids are ANOTHER kind of content, if you don’t like it simply don’t do it, nobody HAS to do one thing or another. I myself don’t like zerged content, so I avoid Tequatl and Wurms. If you don’t like these raids, skip them, I’m sure a lot of guilds will enjoy.
