Ever stop and think about why dueling is a heavily requested feature by none other than Thieves and Mesmers mains?
Coincidence? I think not.
Part of the build’s premise appears to be landing the sword burst and then landing 100 blades, having fury for that would indeed be nice.
That is quite obvious and highly ineffective against decent opponents. It is a waste of a trait without the leg specialization. Would be better off to take “Last Chance”, so you can actually hit more than three times with hundred blades or actually get off a quick final thrust. But to each their own I suppose.
Just a quick question:
Why did you link the trait set up with Arms trait IX (Opportunist)?
You literally have 0 reliable ways to immobilize people without the trait (I, Leg Specialist) in Tactics. The sword burst skill could serve, but I am not sure that trait is worth it for 1 immobilize.

Same sexes stuff exists because of our genetics and biology of animals, not because a god said it is to be or not to be so.
Anet did it right and stayed true to real world in that a religion makes it so whether something is allowed or not and laws being written to reflect the will of a religion.
Extremely bold. What proof, pray tell, do you have that no God made it this way in real life? What proof do you have that a God didn’t make it this way in real life? Is it not a possibility that God made all of Biology?
Claiming things to be true in real life on knowledge that you have no possible way to ascertain… I am just surprised no one has called you out on this logical failing sooner.
That is what you believe sir, not what you know nor is it a “truth” of the world.

I’m going to take a gander and guess you’ve played in spvp for may be a week or so.
This post is just crying, Everything that you mentioned about pvp is what makes gw2 pvp so much fun, this isn’t the game for you.
And ironically for only playing “may be” a week or so he seems to understand the basic horrible design of Guild Wars 2 sPvP more so than you.
Stealth in this game is absolutely horrid and not to mention far too abundant.
Go take a look at other advertised pvp games. Their stealth looks nothing like the atrocity that is the Guild Wars 2 stealth system.
This is just one of the things that makes Guild Wars 2 fail at pvp. Heavy reliance on AI is another big hitter (or passive play). Another, no true timing of skills. It is just spam, spam, spam, spammy, spam all day long. It does not make the combat “action paced”. It makes it mindless and unskillful. Anyone can push a button once he sees it “light up” or come off cooldown.
The only argument that holds water against the horrible design of stealth is, “well you can’t cap a point in stealth”. That is the one reason you see more aoe spamming than stealthing in this game’s “sPvP”. Create a Death Match style pvp and it would be a Mesmer/Thief fest with a light dusting of the other professions.
Same topic different thread from a while back. Ironically brought up by a Thief back then too.
Fact: Thieves have the best mobility
Fact: Warriors have the best land speed (Point A to Point B )
You cannot argue against those facts, because you are simply wrong.
You also need to understand that mobility and land speed are not the same thing.
Mobility:
- Shadowstep
- Dodge roll
- Stealth
- Flanking Strike (thief S/D)These are things that cause quick and erratic movement whenever you want, wherever you want. They also hamper enemy melee severely, also causes the player to lose focus on you. Thieves do this the best.
Land speed:
- Swiftness (Or speed signet/trait where applicable)
- Leaps
- Charges
- (Insert an obvious one I probably forgot)These are for covering distance only, either to get to a target, or run from a target. They always go in a straight line, and take time to get from Point A to Point B, which is very obviously telegraphed (Susceptible to daze/stun). Warriors do this the best.
You need to remember that mobility and land speed are completely different things.
Also, thieves complaining about another class resetting a fight? You honestly cannot be serious, because that’s just stupid.
A well timed Headshot or two (or scorpion wire), when these types of warriors use Savage Leap or Rush, will be their death, considering most warriors with this weapon set up will attempt to disengage at low health, it is easily predictable, so get your interrupts ready.
Sword/Warhorn + GS also sacrifices a lot of damage.:
- Rush misses its target 98.1337% of the time. (This skill is broken, the only use it serves is to run from fights and across the map)
- Sword Burst, does terrible damage outside of condition builds.
- GS Burst, no one uses this, EVER. It is garbage. (So the warriors class mechanic is essentially being wasted with this weapon set up)
- Savage Leap rarely hits, it might bring you near the target, dealing damage/cripple is purely luck.
- No real CC. (Only Immobilize from sword burst, and Leg Specialist (If the trait is picked))Remember.. leaps and charges are always well telegraphed. Shadowsteps are never telegraphed. Players will always lose direct focus when fighting a thief, but never against a warrior, because warriors cannot stealth themselves, or instantly teleport, you can ALWAYS keep your eyes on them.
And from the same thread….
Thieves complaining about someone running away to reset a fight and are upset because you can’t do anything about it… really? lol
Thirdly, any decent thief can burst speed a Warrior down before his cool downs are up. The Thief class can burst up to 3,000 units in less than 2 seconds (with only 3 skills, one of which recharges instantly that you use twice) while the Warrior (using Rush+Whirlwind+Savage Leap+Bull’s Charge) can only get up to 2,850 (and only 2,250 if Bull’s Charge is on cd).
And lastly, if you have only ever played one class and never cared to test out (play at least 50 hours +) on the other classes to test and see what they can do… you will only make a fool of yourself arguing about balance.
We all are accountable for our own actions.
Whoa my friend. You must be new here. In Guild Wars 2 you never admit blame to anything (even when it is highly evident). A lot like all the people blaming Warriors for being op, but in turn neither learn to play their class (or how to play in general for that matter) nor look at themselves wondering if they could possibly up their “game”.
Please refer to my last post.
Indeed you should listen to your own advice.
You call me selfish but because of your outrageous generalizations and tinfoil hat you clearly feel that a feature that will only enhance the game should not be implemented. Your arguments are baseless and all have clearly stated and easy to implement solutions, your complaining is annoying and unjustified, and your repetitive statements need to stop.
And you are completely hypocritical. A completely unjustified call for developer time to spent on something that can already be accomplished in the game. Not to mention you all say the same repetitive statements to a tune: I just want a easy way to duel with my friends. Well guess what, it is in the game already.
Not practical for casual players or queued areas, as mentioned many times. Besides, is this not a legitimate solution for the issue you raised? Because your solution does not address the needs I pointed out.
It is practical and it is by far the simplest solution to the presented problem.
Instead you would have them waste development time on PvE dueling when they already have an area of the game specifically for this type of activity. Dueling in the lobby for the mists in certain areas I could see, but it does not belong in the open world of PvE. Maybe even in WvW (anywhere besides the starting areas with invulnerable buff) I could see it, but absolutely not in PvE.
Why not just drain the water and keep the map…….?
New Meta: Fall damage reduce traits for everyone!
(seriously… you would most likely die if you walked/jumped out of the gate without the water there….. it is a pretty long fall.)
Will there ever be a upgarde?any news? Mircosoft annouced directx 12 a couple day ago and Nivida Announced cool new Directx11 drivers who brings a bunch more FPS.
~~~Soon~~~
Make the default option “refuse duels”. Done.
Or you could simply conduct your causal dueling in the specified area of the game made for it.
Nice strawman!
Nice use of term most of you don’t really know.
I neither distorted the original point of the argument nor hyper inflated the point. I merely pointed out that in most mmos with open world dueling it comes down to high levels fully buffed requesting duels repeatedly from low levels. I did not claim all of them do it, nor did I claim that duels in their entirety are bad.
So cry me a river about thieves’ survivability when power rangers and engineers have significantly less survival and none of the effective burst.
Lol engineers have survivability issues? What game are you playing?
If you actually read what he wrote, he stated pretty clearly power rangers and engineers which means no defense and full out berserker. They are very squishy and easy to kill, but they will drop you in heart beat if you don’t’ know what they can do.
You really seem to have no idea what dueling is :/ if people do choose to play perma stealth survival specs while dueling then other people just wont duel them and the other guy could just leave the area or concede (they would have to add at least 1 of those features), there is nothing to gain from anything you do in this game it is just a time sink; Some people want to enjoy dueling wherever they want while wasting their time instead of wasting even more time going to a server where they cannot test roaming builds or be sure that no one will interfere.
You seem to only think about yourself and your fun regardless at the expense of others.
I know what dueling is and I know why the most of you want it. Get a group of friends, go to the Mists (Spvp, you know the place were pvp happens if you haven’t been there) then get into a server and start dueling. It is a single button away. It doesn’t take long to load and you can switch builds, sigils, and runes for free. There is absolutely no reason to bring trash dueling to PvE world (more so over in a TEAM orientated game).
Believe it or not, I actually PvP. I have since Guild Wars 1. I have played in countless GvGs, HoH, TA, HB and to a lesser extent AB. In Guild Wars 2 I came to tPvP with my prior Guild Wars 1 team. We dueled and had fun in the FREE servers of hot join. We played paid tournaments and free tournaments. Guild Wars 1 and 2 are not even the beginning of all the games I have pvped in. Even still open world dueling is trash in most games.
Why? Because most of you will not be fighting friends. You will be bugging PvErs. Thinking you are hot stuff when you take out a Ranger who just started playing with your 80 fully buffed with food, sigils, stacks and runes Thief. Just like in WoW. Nothing but Rouges and Ice Mages running around challenging low levels in front of Orgimmar.
Instead of playing Stat Wars with your insanely buffed builds. Go to the mists and actually try out PvP. Where you can not buff your health to 30k due to food and stacks on sigils, or a attack value of 4k. Learn to play in Spvp with lower stats and you will not even need those things for roaming in WvW.
We arnt talking about a rated 1v1 dueling system, we are talking about the ability to 1v1 anywhere you want for fun instead of just afking in town or logging off or afking while waiting for something to happen.
Neither was I. Open world dueling is just a failed idea because it will be populated by a majority of Thieves and Mesmers as stated. Plus, why would you want to fight a bunch of PvEr’s anyway? They are not geared towards nor accustomed to doing PvP. What could you possibly gain from fighting a bunch of PvEr’s?
The almost all pure PvEr’s will just deny the request for a duel, so in essence this is nothing more than a plea for people to beg for duels from PvEr’s and then call people cowards for not wanting to fight.
It is easier and less clutter for everyone else in PvE if you go duel in the area designated solely for PvP. Go to the Heart of the Mists and duel in a empty server. There are literately at least 5 at all times (even though some say they have 1 person in them most of them don’t, at least in my experience). Not only will that take you out of PvE but it will also take away your hyper inflated stats and make the fight more profession/skill based.
I think you don’t really know what everyone else is talking about here. I think you are thinking that dueling = ganking. A dual is a mutual fight accepted between 2 players.
I know exactly what they are talking about because it has been brought up and shot down countless times before. The point still stands that the vast majority of duels would be Thiefs or Mesmers. These two classes can stealth repeatedly and frequently. Stealth in this game is a cheap cover for skill. Anyone worth their salt in PvP knows this.
All you would ever see are Thiefs standing around waiting for someone to accept then just stealth around till the other persons skills are on cool down then try to take him. Much like all the Thiefs in WvW.
Also, no it does not take any skill to play any type of stealth class in this game. Hell, hardly anything in this game takes skill, but the stealthing, high evade, highly mobile class is the definition of cheap.
Do I have problems killing these “Pro” Thieves? No. They are jokes but the stealth in this game is ridiculous and needs to be changed so maybe one day the class can be slightly skill orientated instead of the spammy shamble it is now.
Also, your so called open world dueling is more of a “who can stack the most stats” rather than “who is more skilled”. If you want to duel then go duel in the Mists in one of the open servers, there are plenty of them as sPvP is dead.
Lastly… this game was produced (at least Anet said it was at the launch) as a TEAM orientated PvP game. Therefore, the balance will never suit for a 1v1 system.
So once again, I’ll ask, why is there no dueling yet in the open world?
Every time this is asked all I can see is a 12 year old player waiting on a Thief/Mesmer thinking it takes skill to stealth around on random mobs while waiting for the “Opponent” to be on cool down with all of their skill.
Dueling in this game would be a joke due to the game mechanics. It is why this question has been laughed off the forum since release of this game. You would only ever see horrible stealth Thieves and Mesmer (sadly thinking it is their skill carrying the fight instead of the horrendous stealth mechanic in this game).
snip
It is because anyone who was actually around for the time Warriors were jokes are gone. Even still, if they were here they would not complain about the Warrior. The other professions in this game are miles ahead of Warriors in terms of decency in surviving and burst capabilities. It is just the general populace (and the majority at that, >75%) are just really bad.
The majority of people left playing this game have 0 comprehension of how bad Warriors really are compared to other classes. Without the hyper inflated stats of WvW Warriors are still merely mediocre when other classes can spam blinds, stealth, major conditions (immobilization, burning, etc.), blocks, invulnerabilities, evades and the list goes on for a quite a while. Not to mention most other classes have perma vigor (along side of all the other options listed above).
They complain about Warriors being able to Eathshaker every 8 seconds but fail to realize they have a dodge every 5 seconds with their perma vigor. Not to mention they have evades on weapon skills that have cool downs of 12 seconds or less. Even if the Warrior gets a full combo off (Eathsharker+Staggering blow+Backbracker+ some autos in between) only someone with full Berserkers gear will drop from that. If they have at least a minimal amount of defense they would easily be left with 30% or more of their health.
Where as if you get caught by a Thief and eat a full rotation even a bunker will be at 20% anything else will be dead. Even Elementalists have a build that will drop most people to 20%, only difference is their combo is in less than 3 seconds (in fact most of the skills are instant and the recharge is quicker than the Warrior chain).
The other professions are more of a threat than any Warrior could ever dream to be in this game. This including Rangers, which most people say are useless but are actually some of the best duelers. They complain about Healing Signet but completely fail at realizing that Rangers can easily stack perma regen (and swiftness) that ticks for around 300-400 health and have their Troll Unguent going 50% of the time for 800+ a tick.
You could have the worst class ever made but have simple combos and things that are slightly effective with no effort (Warrior) versus a class that has hard knit combos to pull off along with the correct synergies in a build (Ranger) and I bet you the people in this game would call the worse class OP.
The problem with this game as I am seeing it now is not so much the professions but the ignorance on the players part.
Repeat after me… ’It’s just a game & she’s a fictional character’.
It seems in this world (as in the real world) a lot of “Fictional Characters” and “Stories” guide quite a magnitude of people (not a slight towards religion). It is not the actual happenings that should be questioned but the moral decisions behind said story.
Influencing others comes in many different colors and shapes and stories happen to be one of the biggest factors of teaching morals.
These “games” as you put them quickly help young people, who are not quite adept at noticing what they truly feel or think on a topic, slowly push in one direction on a variety of topics.
It seems a lot of people should deal with hearing some stories with respect or decency as the moral backbone.
Are some of you people seriously complaining that Spvpers are finally getting some type of reward? Not to mention, you literally have to be the best at it to receive this reward.
So much hypocritical nonsense. At least they have to use skill to acquire their rewards. Swipe those credit cards faster guys.
All the top Pvpers left a very long time ago. Although, you have your pick among the slightly above average and average streamers.
“Someday” lol…. Not much longer now guys. Only 3 years, 2 days and 5 hours till Guild Halls or other features that should have been in place at launch!!! Then another 2 weeks after that they will get around to class bugs (one for each)! What a day to be alive!
I’m all for equal rights, but this would actually sound pretty patronizing.
Kind of like completely disregarding someone solely because they have a single opinion on something that you disagree with… hmm…
(not directed at you but at most of these recent threads concerning this stupid kiss and how everything in this game and real life is homophobic because they disagree. Oh no the horror, someone disagrees with you mass hysteria ensues.)
It seems all the decent people truly have left this game to rot with its horrible systems. Simple systems seem to elude the vast majority of what is left in this game (including developers). Time to pack up and leave yet again and wait for another failed patch to pull through and watch the game I had such high hopes for sink ever lower.
It is both sad and amusing that all the great players left and voiced their opinions to change this horrible system along with others (dumping adrenaline on miss, block, etc., micro controls for pets, among other great suggestions) while the developers just kept on milking that cash shop. What is worse still is some of you people actually think that stealth in this game is fine along with attacking from stealth not revealing on a block/miss.
I couldn’t imagine what would happen if League of Legends or any other decent pvp centric game (which Guild Wars 2 was marketed as) launched a patch with such hand holding systems in place. Enjoy your stealth and continue to misplace skill with a broken system.
Can’t counter stealth …. didn’t actually read the previous post.
That is correct, there are no direct counters to stealth (or true counters as mentioned in the previous post). Once the person is in stealth there is nothing you can do but wait for it to end or for them to attack and land a hit.
I don’t understand why you thieves have such a hard time understanding the simplest of things. Everything else in this game can be interrupted or dodged before and then have another option for you to handle it after the fact.
If someone stuns you, you have a stun breaker.
Some one puts a condition on you, you have condition removal.
Someone blocks, you can use unblock-able skills.
Someone heals, you can put poison on them and keep it on them.
Someone stealths…. well then you just have to wait for it to wear off or be hit.
There is only one other state in this game that doesn’t have a “direct” counter. That would be invulnerability, but no class can access this state every 4 seconds.
Interrupting is a soft counter to many things. But interrupts are no where near as available as stealth is to a Thief.
Being a better player and dodging the CnD isn’t a direct counter. A direct counter is like the list of things above. I can easily dodge most of these horrible thieves CnD and backstabs but the very nature of the stealth in this game is so forgiving it doesn’t matter if I dodge 5 of them. They will always be off cooldown and ready to go. You have 0 draw backs for using stealth, but you have a ridiculously huge amount of payoffs for using this cheap system. It takes 0 skill to stealth around and have 100% of the control of the fight in his game.
Only the ones who are to bad to understand that this stealth is hurting this game and lowering the skill bar like it this way. You are not being skillful when you vanish in thin air every 4 seconds and run away.
The Thief is not op the stealth in this game is broken. It is why this game will never be taken seriously and why you will only every see Stealth Mesmers/Thiefs if they ever implement duels.
Much like in Guild Wars 1 where you only saw player Assassins in Hero Battles. Also, if a death match mode is every put into this game I can almost say that the vast majority of the teams would be 1 Guardian/4 Thieves or 1 Guardian/4 Mesmers.
Stealth is broken and everyone knows it. The only reason why other Thieves and Mesmers don’t complain about it is because they have it.
They stealth you dodge their ridiculously predicable attack… you gain nothing. They are still stealthed and you are down one dodge and their backstab skill is already off cool down. You block their backstab you gain nothing, they are still in stealth and their skill is off cool down. You have very nearly killed them, they stealth and basically that is “gg” unless you happen to get lucky and guess which way he ran.
The Thief players are not good and the class itself is mediocre. It is stealth that is the problem. All the pro players (which have left by the way) suggested scrapping this horrible system of stealth and placing something in the game that takes skill and has counters.
As of right now there are only two true counters to stealth. One is a bought item only usable with WvW supply while the other is a ranger skill with a natural cool down of 40 seconds for 4 seconds of revel and can only be used on a Thief before he stealth.
….. very few people really played warrior before buffs that’s why you barely saw mace shield.
Plenty of people use to play Mace/Shield builds. I use to play Spvp with a Mace/Shield—Greatsword build way back at launch. However, most of the people I use to play with have left this game (around 3-6 months after launch) because Anet never did anything about PvP. I quit after the introduction of Ascended Armor.
It wasn’t that hardly anyone played Warrior. In fact, most people played Warrior at launch of this game (hot join mostly but still some tpvp had Warriors from time to time). It wasn’t till around 3 months in that everyone saw they were not going to fix the class and jumped ship.
With continual horribly done balance patches and zero incentive to play every real pro (and almost all of the high level) pvpers left.
I might log on every once in a while (around once every month or so) to see if anything has gotten better, but it seems to do nothing but get worse each patch. They have two VIP areas as I understand it now. You can only access them if you buy the pass with gems. That is just a giant kick in the face to what the company use to stand for and it makes me sad for what this game could have been.
The mace/shield + Gs build was the most OP build warrior ever had, i was the first one to talk about it on the forum….
Umm…. completely not true.. Not even close to true.
You do know people can easily go back and read your post history?
The only builds you ever mentioned for the first 6 months or so were the standard Greatsword/Longbow build that someone else made highly popular in tpvp at the start of the game and the face roll Dagger/Dagger Elementalist build.
In other words, it seems like you started a Warrior at launch then jumped ship to the Elementalist in their hay day.
Same happened with AB a whiiile ago, got to rank 12 under the old reward system – and let me tell you it took a HUGE MASSIVE AMOUNT OF TIME (2k hours or so) considering i only did it through pvp, not by farming pve speedruns -
Then AB got updated, rewards had a massive boost to them plus other means to get faction XP were introduced.
Well, same thing all over again.
Not happy.
So full of crap lol. It was 5000000 times easier to get both Luxon and Kurzick titles before the big “update”. You could easily vanquish a zone and get in the upwards of 90-100k points. Then convert that to 180k -200k points for the title. You could vanquish the popular zones in less than 20 minutes with a semi competent team. You could literally finish those titles before the update in a little less than 2 weeks with average game play and a decent team.
Now the title is a huge grind and a pain in the butt. You can only get around 15k faction for vanquishing a zone. A massive difference.
To review: They lowered the total amount of the title by 1/6, awesome, they completely the destroyed the only decent way to get points by 17/20 (sounds like Anet to me).
snip
Burr, just quit the game like all the rest of the pros and decent players. The developers have honestly no clue how their professions work. All that is left in this game now are mediocre players squabbling over who is rank 1 in solo queue. This game lost any hope it had a long time ago.
There are a lot of better games out there. I also heard/read that the newest update has a UFO in it of some type. To which, all I have to say is……are you serious? It is like they are actively trying to kill the game.
I left quite a while ago then decided to see if they changed for the better but it was just worse when I came back. So yet again, I am leaving (actually already left).
Best of luck and best wishes.
It’s almost exactly like the places in Factions where you could only get in if you were part of the claiming alliance/guild, no mechanical advantages, just a neat little place to be exclusive and throw fruit at the peons. Except there’s no fruit.
Almost not all at like them. You actually had to play the game to get those areas. They were rewards for playing the game and donating faction within the game not bought possessions. They were free flowing and could change hands at any point. Unlike the pass and the noble area.
IF that day comes, THEN I’ll protest it. Not before.
Right now, you’re running full speed down a slippery slope argument. Have fun with that. I see no reason to follow your Chicken Little logic.
The Royal Terrace you claim as evidence has nothing that can’t be found in Lion’s Arch. Hell, it isn’t even particularly more CONVENIENT, unless you absolutely find the walk in LA to be such a chore. If people want to blow their money on such trivial things… I’m not going to stop them.
You, however, can stop overreacting anytime.
The day it comes is far to late and it is where it is heading. The argument isn’t slippy at all. You are paying more for more access to something that no one else will have unless they also pay. Pretty black and white as it gets. You either pay for that status or you don’t get it.
Also, I am not over-reacting in the slightest. Merely pointing out the obvious (or rather what should be obvious).
(edited by Vanthian.9267)
….I still don’t see the problem with a bought VIP status ……
Then you are part of the “new player base” that have driven this game into a failing state that it is in and will continue to be. By failing I mean, not living up to what was sold/hyped (by Anet themselves).
With a bought status comes a bought power.
“But anet said they would never sell items that grant more power to the player than what can be earned!!”
They also said that the game wouldn’t be grindy and focus on looks rather than repetitive actions. The path you walk knows no bounds and will continue to drain pockets rather than aim to provide the best gaming experience possible.
horror.
It does and most likely will affect you.
The day the next living story can only be played by Tier 15 VIP members or higher. Much like only people with a pass can get into the Divinities Reach Noble area.
Edit: [The remainder of this message can only be viewed by those who are of Tier 10 or higher within our VIP services.]
(edited by Vanthian.9267)
The only reason why you don’t see more Thieves in this game’s Spvp is because of the game mode. You can’t cap while in stealth therefore you lose the match. It is not due to how weak the class is but how their class mechanics work.
Switch the game mode to death match and I bet you there will be at least 50% Thieves because of stealth (the other 50% will be 45% Mesmer with 5% remaining going to the other classes).
Well I am honestly not surprised when not to long ago they released a small scale version of a “VIP” section of Divinities Reach. Now they even have a permanent pass there.
This might be for a “Chinese” launch but they are testing the waters on us as we speak. The more that buy into the “VIP” crap section of Divinities Reach the bigger the green light they get.
Just look in this forum…. there are some people actually defending this horror as if it is a good idea.
I wonder how many people bought the pass….
How many stuns do you have on warrior , how many times can a person dodge ?
Well…
If he is Hammer—-Mace/Shield ….
He has 3 stuns exactly. One knock down and one knock back. Wow so many.
Hammer stun (only has one) is on a 10 second cool down (if not traited) while the Mace stun (only has one) is on a 10 second cool down (if not traited) and the Shield stun (only has one) is on a 25 second cool down (if not traited).
If he has traited to the max then 7 seconds and 20 seconds respectively.
Knock down is on a 30 second cool down (if not traited) while the knock back is on a 20 second cool down (if not traited).
If traited 24 seconds and 16 seconds respectively.
So, if in a ideal situation for stuns he has two 7 second stuns, one 20 second stun, a 16 second knock back, and a 24 second knock down.
Most classes (aka Guardian, Mesmer, Engineer, and Elementalist) can dodge every 5 seconds if build and traited properly without even thinking about it. (Even Rangers and Thief have more dodges, at least one every 7 seconds).
Now… speaking of numbers, what is the range on the stuns and knock down/back?
Well….. Earthshaker 600 range, very obvious…
Shield Bash 300 range,
Skull Crack 130 range, if you are that close you deserve to be hit….
Staggering Blow 130 range, again… bad
Backbreaker 130 range… yet again you are bad if you let him stay this close.
They have one medium range stun that is highly obvious and dodge able. You get a dodge every 5 seconds more than likely; learn to dodge.
Also, bring a stun breaker and use evasion skill, it helps.
Hmm… tough call… but I think it would be…
1) A
2) I
Why? Because I’m not sure that would be a nerf to the mobility. On the contrary. With burst mastery you can have a burst every 7 and a half seconds… Rush has a 20 second cooldown….
But it also isn’t currently reliant on adrenaline for the distance traveled. Level 1 adrenaline could be somewhere in the 500 range. Level 2 800 range. Then level 3 could be 1200 range.
Almost every other class has range on the majority of their weapons so I see no problem with that.
But I would say just trash Arcing Slice. It is a horrible skill no matter how you look at it. Replace it with something else that has a hard control or soft control on it. Much like the Ranger greatsword has a daze/stun on it. Give the Warrior something he can use to set up his 100 blades.
Snip
I just find a Mesmer being able to remove 4 boons in a aoe fashion far more valuable than being able to stealth the team once every 90 seconds for 5 seconds. Not to mention they have the AoE burst damage from shatters which a PU can only really spike down one person. It fits in better with the current Earth-shaker prone teams.
Shatter Mesmer adds in boon removal, control, aoe damage, and group utility through Time Warp and portal. Where as the PU build is a selfish build not giving much to group play. That is just how I see it.
Funny how I hear equal numbers of complaints that PU is too powerful and needs to be nerfed and snide remarks that PU builds are useless in PvP and I shouldn’t run the trait.
As for shatter builds, my understanding is that most of the higher-ranked mesmers run shatter. But actually combinations of shatter with CC in “lockdown” type builds.
PU builds are insanely strong in 1v1 situations while not having to cap a point. Most people who complain about those builds are doing so in WvW. It is the troll build for Mesmer which is akin to the stealth Thieves. Only I would say they are far more dangerous than Thieves since they do not have to attack you themselves (they have AI pets for that).
Shatter Mesmer has more to offer in Tpvp than a PU Mesmer will imo.
Believe it or not some people in the world can read faster than others!
That’s awfully fast for somebody to read over 5000 characters in about a minute and then spend the time analyzing it before completely disregarding it as a “wall of text”.
It is called speed reading. Look it up, it is quite useful. Plenty of people can do it. There are some people that can even read full blow novels in less than a hour and still comprehend the entire work. 5000 words is quite tiny in comparison more so over when they basically echo the same opinion all the way through.
Edit: Once again since you think I didn’t read anything and this is the last reply because I am tried of wasting my time.
The proof is the Mesmer himself complaining about a Warrior build that is very easily kited and dodged. Claiming that it is op when it is quite possibly the worst build you can try to use in spvp for Warrior.
Second note, healing signet is fine. Note you will not be able to kill a bunker Warrior with conditions. That is working as intended. Try using skill and baiting his endure pain then use burst damage.
You can complain all you want that will not change the fact that the Warrior is fine and very conquerable even in its current state. You choose to complain rather than gather skill if you so wish but it looks bad on you. A Mesmer should have 0 problems with a Warrior.
Yet again a wall of text that does nothing but prove you don’t know what you are talking about. I almost feel bad for you.
You my friend have a serious problem. I did in fact address the situation you asked for only not directly but apparently that went straight over your head.
You choose to see the classes how you want to view them instead of how they enact with the game as a whole. Fact is, there are other classes that can well out perform the Warrior in many different areas.
Most of these people complaining are bad. You can tell how good someone is by what they complain about and how they present it. The fact that the Mesmer was complaining about a Glass Cannon Axe Warrior shows…. he is not that good. That should be a cake walk kill for any mildly decent player of any other class.
Your wall of text is nothing but gibberish that servers no purpose or proves no point.. I honestly can’t quote any of it because none of it is remotely relevantly. You are angry for some reason, I can only assume because you hate Warriors and can’t stand being proven wrong, but rest in knowing that Anet does listen to the loudest and most voiced opinion instead of the most reasoned and well thought out.
