Instead of having illegal areas in the game (such as a huge whole in every single map that allows players to break into places they shouldn’t) wouldn’t it make more sense to actually close the said whole? Not to mention the aforementioned map breaking has been in the game SINCE BETA, but now we will receive a warning (at Anet convenience of course if not being banned) instead of Anet fixing this problem in the previous 2 years of its known existence.

Also, how are the players at fault for using the system you set up? Much like the karma weapon incident and the chili pepper fiasco. People literally playing the game the way you designed and they get shot in the face. How does this make sense? (Might I add you never once came out and said it was inside the confines of your system. Instead we got, “They should have known it was a exploit” <— are you serious?)

I understand these systems for people who are legitimately breaking the rules (third party programs, hacks, etc..) but for those of us just playing the game the way you have created it…. it is ridiculous and not professional at all.

Let me guess: “Soon” “It is harder than it seems” “We are working on it” “Insert popular Anet come back here”

And the complete removal of adrenaline (and hundred blades, replace it with a skill that shoot flowers into the air) would totally fix the Warrior.

Changing the basics of a class is a really really bad idea. Fixing the class, sure. But changing fundamental mechanics on the whole (ie how damage works) is not fixing it. The only thing that need a rework on the whole in terms of mechanics is mantras. Why?

Because resource management sucks.

This here is a great example as to why I left this horrid game. Between players like this and the horrible direction Anet took this game (not to mention how they balance) it is no wonder why all the slightly above average to pro, and everything in between, PvP players left.

Instead of listening to the actual Pro players (when they had them) and decent ones they cave to the ones like I quoted.

Resource management sucks? Yes having to time, manage, and think about things while playing a game sucks. We should all just smash our face against the key board as fast as we can when we see things off cooldown to determine the winner. Long live Guild Wars 2.

I had an idea before for mesmers:
Mind Focus
Source similar to Adrenaline, which is filled with clone/ilussion shatters, attacking.

Every phantasm attacks once at full damage at summon. Then, they constantly damage the opponent ever 1-2 seconds for far lesser damage, adding to Mind Focus resource.

You can then use Mind Focus to order your creations full-damage attack, empower one of your attacks/heals or shorten cooldowns, or such.

I can’t believe no one else has responded to this post. You literally just fixed the cheesy game play of the Mesmer by the simplest means and one that would actually promote skill.

This is the first post I have bothered to log back in and quote for a while simply because I have given up on this community and game, but you good sir give me hope that it can achieve what it was meant to be if the developers listen.

+40% condition duration food negates -40% condition duration food. Please clarify why this is false in your opinion.

Pretty standard math problem. If the original condition on the skill lasts 10 seconds then you add the +40% from food you will have a 14 second condition.

The -40% food takes off 40% of the entire duration ( 14 seconds) which would be 5.6 seconds in this case turning the condition back down to 8.4 seconds in total.

The only way to cancel each other out would be for the -40% duration to use the original skill duration instead of the new updated duration.

Warriors are a little bit to Op atm.

Healing Signet is still too good. But somehow ANet loves that skill or something because it’s been stupid for a long time now.

The entire Warrior profession was a joke in this game for around one and half years. You can deal with six months of a mediocre profession.

Every profession can kill a Warrior if the player is competent enough. Warrior is still not the best profession by any stretch of the imagination in any faucet of the game you care to mention.

Just because they are popular and easy to play doesn’t make them good or overpowered. It just means the general skill level of the community has sunken to new lows.

All i saw in the first 20 seconds was 1 power Warriors and a power Thief fighting a full fledged bunker cheese Warrior build.

Yet, you (I assume the PoV-Cheese bunker warrior- is you) should have killed both of them in 20 seconds because you used your Bow Burst followed by Arcing Arrow (while blinded) followed by a weak blinding skill then got lucky with the Thief teleporting up close to you while you used Bow 5. Followed that with a low damaging (because of your cele amulet) Ax burst skill.

So in total: In 20 seconds you wasted 2 dodges (and only dodged one skill of no real consequence), along with a full block channel to block nothing and used 5 attacks…. yet they should be dead?

You only killed the Warrior due to fire damage and him being ridiculously negligent towards the aoe from your bow.

The only reason you are alive, is not skill, but from the outrageously easy build you play. You are regening health for doing nothing, constantly from two sources all the while removing 2 conditions every 8 seconds without having to really think about it because all you are doing is spamming Bow Burst skill (which is where at least 70% of your damage is coming). Yet that qualifies as skill…..

The second Warrior didn’t use a Bow to cheese clear conditions every 8 seconds and was not full on bunker (like you).

I agree, you survived for a very long time show casing no real knowledge of when or what to dodge/block. You also used your endure pain then proceeded to dodge (while still under the effects of the skills). You used your berserker stance right after that, when the one Warrior had already used all of his conditions skills (which you cleared just spamming your bow). You would have died if it was not for the build you play. Which has been touted about on these forums and in game for a very long time. You are playing a 0 skill build (with almost barely average skill) and complaining about no skill players. It is ironic at best.

:Note: I am not saying the people you played against are good (because they are on about the same level as you). I am saying they are not playing cheese builds.

Nerf stances imo.

Just go to your Borderlands Citadel. The crafting stations there serve as an impromptu bank.

That also was added in a update and not in the original game.

Edit: Don’t think I am against having the bank, just giving the reasons they will most likely use.

So, realistically speaking, yes. Other elites are equally powerful.

I will gladly switch either of Rampage or Tornado with Lich Form.

Lich Form auto (no cap? pierce effect, can cast backwards) 3/4 second activation 986 (base) damage at 1200 range.

Mark for Death: Isn’t worth the time to mention, I agree.

Chilling Wind: 409 damage 1/4 activation 3 seconds chill 300 knockback 450 radius.

Mark of Horror. 25 second cool down but… damage variable dependent on minions.
“This skill is notable for having no method of preventing its effects, despite being a ground-targeted AoE.” Summon 5 minions.

Grim Specter: 1,621 damage, Rip all boons off foes in 240 radius, Cure all conditions on Allies 240 radius, … oh at 1200 range and unblockable. 30 second cool down.

vs.

Rampage: Chain time: 2 seconds 792 damage 1/2 daze, 2 second cripple, 5 vulnerability for 5 seconds… oh at 130 range (it can cleave but… yeah…)

Dash: Range 1000 range, 365 damage, leap finisher 6 second cool down…that has a very hard time hitting the target (much like Rush).

Throw Boulder: 304 damage, 900 range, 12 second cool down, 2 second stun.

Kick: One foe only, 183 damage, 300 push back, 300 range, 6 second cool down

Seismic Leap: 244 damage, Knock down 2 seconds, radius 240 range 600.

There is a vast gap in Transformations elites and Lich Form isn’t on the bottom (neither is Plague for that matter). I will say this game is one of the first where melee multipliers are less than ranged for damage.

Also, lets not forget the most important part of Rampage: “For the duration of this skill, the user is enlarged and their footsteps make quaking sounds”.

Edit: Don’t get me wrong, not saying it is “overpowered” or anything. Just saying that, as elites go, it is a top contender if not the best.

I know thinking is hard but one day you will understand. There will be losers as long as there are winners. Winners are usually given more than the losers. Traditionally at least 2 fold more (example American Football: Superbowl, look up the championship rings). Very simple concept.

Any form of PvP (no matter how hard the WvWers try to PvD there is still PvP in WvW) is a competition. Laughing at the obvious… alright…?

Fact is that this is not real life.
And I did get shiny, doesn’t mean I don’t care about the rest of the playerbase, just cause I got mine.

You are correct, this is not real life and congratulations on getting your shiny. The point is, rewarding failure teaches people that failing is just as rewarding as success. They will never try to do better if you just give them things for failing. This is how you get a community that doesn’t care to evolve and become skillful and give intriguing play. They will simply give up and whine when they lose until they are handed things. There are many parallels you can draw between that statement and real life/games (especially in guild wars 2). So in essence, I care about the community in general and their attitudes more so than their “shinnies”.

At the moment I would equate the attitude of the Guild Wars 2 community with a little league (as in ages 6-10) sports team. “But EVERYONE should get a trophy!!! They were here too!!! It isn’t their fault!!”. Thus, the parents pay 40$ to get their kid a (now) meaningless trophy. Congrats.

Rate my build: Confused Ranger

To be honest, I am almost not sure what you were aiming for in this build. From your statement I take it you want to WvW and roam but if you were to run into any decent S/P, S/D, or P/D Thief, PU Mesmer, or Hammer/X Warrior you would be toast.

If you can make up for the lack of armor with good dodges then I can see how you kill direct damage people, but I am 100% sure any decent condition damage build would destroy you. You have extremely limited removal on high cool down (1 every 10 seconds if you don’t use the signet to full purge or stun break, 2 on 40 second cool down, full purge on 60 seconds, then 1-5 depending how long you stay in your heal at 30 seconds).

You honestly don’t have a lot of synergy between your utility skills, traits, and weapons. One of your traits doesn’t even effect anything on your bars.

You have the wolf pet which is good, but the drake is questionable in this build.

All in all, I would say start from scratch and rebuild it. Or you can keep the general idea and have two options to make it meld a little better.

Only a select few have the options of personal banks in WvW. Smaller servers have a hard time holding their keeps long enough to upgrade them. So the bigger number 1 servers might have the banks, but not the smaller servers. Also, WvW just recently added the ability to teleport back to where you were when you joined, so… apparently you have not been playing long.

Your attempt at mocking and belittling is pathetic. Why are you even in the PvP forum if you are a uber mack pro WvW player? Be careful leaving your zerg.

You don’t seem to understand that WvW is won by population and coverage. Not skill and effort.

WvW is a competition. Competitions have winners which also means there are losers. Regardless of the skill required. Some servers lost which means less reward. Life is rough, get a helmet.

Stop crying, it is unbecoming. If you want a better reward, aka win, get more bodies or simply transfer. You have the options.

Fact is that low populated servers worked much harder for their meta than we did, but are rewarded less ..

Fact is that a lot of people in real life work a hell of a lot harder in one day than most high paid T. V. Stars or “Pro Athletes” in their entire life and don’t even get close to being paid 0.00001% of their salary.

Life sucks, live with it. Want a shiny? Man up and win.

Removing steady weapons is a horrible idea though. We need some way to test things, so I’m really hoping they add something to replace them.

The more the player base tests the more we find their mistakes. Smart move from a company who usually adds more errors than updates in their patches. xD

It is his elite with extremely long cool down, it SHOULD be that strong.

No, no one should have a “I win” button. Is signet of rage that good? No. Is a Guardian’s Renewal that good? No. Rangers Entangle? (lol… ) no. Thieve’s Basilisk Venom? Eh.. maybe if you have the cool down reduction. Mesmer Elites & Elementalists? pfft.. The only other elite that is as decent would be Engineer’s Supply Crate.

Maybe they should make the other elites better to match the power and destruction of Lich Form. What if the Warrior Juggernaut form did 4-7k autos or the Elementalist Tornado?

If there were a bank and trading post in the mists then no one would ever have to use a way point again. They would simply go to the mists do their business then exit exactly where they were to begin with. Or if they wished to go to a major city they could simply go through the portal to LA then to any major city.

Anet would not longer be able to suck funds from the “special snowflake” people who buy items off the gem store like: Pavilion passes, Airship passes, Personal Banker (limited), Personal Trading Post (limited), Personal Storage (limited), etc..

In Anet’s eyes, they would lose: Potential funds from gems and a “gold sink” in game. I am not saying they won’t put it in because they do stuff that makes no sense all the time and you can not being to predict what they will do next, but I would guess they will not add it.

what do you mean by Gimping?

Gimping:

A type of crippling or a crippling effect.

So in other words, he is saying you are crippling yourself in WvW by taking Sword as a main hand power weapon. As to whether he is right or not… eh, it is up in the air.

You have one skill that will deal decent damage on main hand sword and it only does decent damage when the target is below 50% health. It is more of a Hybrid/running away weapon than anything.

With that said… I have used power sword for a while and find it entertaining to hit 10k Final Thrusts. It is not expected and will take people by surprise, but if I had taken another weapon I could have dealt that much damage (plus a little more) in the time it took me to set up the Final Thrust.

Just do what you enjoy.

They honestly don’t care (sorry to be blunt). I believe they stated that it was in the communities best interest to salvage all duplicates before the patch hit for more crafting mats, and therefore, more chances at forges for new gear. Spvp has always been a red headed step child of the game and I don’t’ believe that will change anytime soon.

I just find it funny that all the people that want dueling say that anyone against dueling “is this or that” but completely fail to realize THIS GAME IS NOT MADE FOR 1v1 PVP. Not at all. It is a team game first and foremost. Hell, just look at the professions and the balance. It is a joke. All you would ever see are 12 year olds on Thieves and Mesmers spamming requests thinking “their skill” is what is actually winning the fights and not the massive oversight of stealth.

Not to mention the horrible whining of “well they are just to lazy to decline!!”. You already have the capability to duel in Spvp with the custom areas. Yes, they do work, and yes you can use them in that fashion. You are just to lazy to use the functions given to you. “But I can’t have my massive stat boost over the other person, how can I possible play?” Try skill perhaps instead of relying on massive stat boosts from food/gear.

Really? Multiple immobs and tons of evades say hi. Nail down a Mesmer or Thief and they melt like butter. Sorry, stealth only saves you if you can move while in it.

All your immobilization mean nothing when they can clean them faster than you can apply them. Not to mention the fact they have extreme mobility over the Ranger. The Ranger has (if playing a condition spec that everyone is now a days) 2 evades on Sword and then 1 on Dagger but the other professions have teleports on their weapons, blocks, evades, and stealth to boot. Not to mention the fact that Mesmers/Engineers can buff themselves as well as, if not better than, a Guardian.

Ranger is okay, yes, but they are no where near the terms of the other three. If played on equal skill level: Mesmer>=Thief>Engineer>Ranger.

They are the 1v1 duelist profession and if used properly can provide a fair bit of group support.

Sigh… just no. Mesmer is the premier duelist class. Thief is second. Then Engineer. Then it would be Ranger. Ranger is no where near as proficient as the previously three stated professions at dueling. There is a very wide gap between tiers actually. Mesmer,Thief>>>Engineer>>>>>>>>>Ranger>Every other profession.

I have never seen a single post of a pro player saying that thieves are OP . ..

1) You are extremely late asking for Pro players. They left almost directly after launch.

2) The second most requested feature to be revised was stealth by…. low and behold, the pro players.

3) The Thief class has fine defenses without stealth even if the community chooses not to acknowledge them.

4) The problem with this game is the horrible stealth mechanic which has been untouched since second beta even though all the “pros” said it would be a joke to leave it in its current state. (hint: stealth is brokenly stupidly if you have half a brain).

I don’t mean to complain but it seems like most classes think we take zero skill to perform. Is this because of our confusing mechanics? I don’t get it. I was dueling a thief and facerolling them and they told me to switch to another class, so i switched to necro, and then i was told to switch to a fair class. Is it ignorance? Arrogance? What creates the mesmer hate?

You have the lowest skill floor of all classes and the second most uptime on stealth, I wonder.

You have AI that stays until destroyed or shattered on extremely low cool downs while you dodge around and basically laugh. A decent Mesmer would not lose to anyone in a 1v1 and would only die in a 2v1 if all players are on a even skill floor.

It is not ignorance or arrogance unless you want to take into account Mesmer/Thieves who think they are skilled for stealthing around.

Since all my Friends are like “Thief is the hardest class in PvP” i want to know: Is it really that hard to play him? I’m not trolling or anything but all i see is their s/d #3 skill spamm which doesnt seem to be that hard :/

It is not hard at all. Thieves just complain because they don’t’ want a nerf. it is not hard to go in stealth every 4 seconds then just wait around till target blows their cool downs then spam backstab or whatever you plan on spamming (because that is literally the only thing a Thief does).

The class as itself is a joke but with the broken stealth mechanic is just ridiculous. Not to mention all the PvE (aka WvW) Thieves thinking they are pro (such a joke).

Its skill floor for Thief is by far one of the lowest, only higher than Mesmer. If you are decent at playing PvP games you should not die on a Thief at all, in any situation. Just stealth and run. It doesn’t get any easier.

(Note all the pro players begged Anet to change the horrible stealth in this game before they all jumped ship which happened almost a year and half ago)

What kind of Kool-Aid are you people drinking? Mesmer is still the single handed undisputed king of 1v1 (if you are decent) and still has some of the most useful utilities in tpvp. You have broken stealth and AI to do the damage for you while you dodge around and laugh.

Mesmer, as it was at launch, is still the best profession hands down. Cheap, easy to play, and powerful for little investment. You literally have every condition, boon, and state possible in the game with extreme uptime on all of them.

Now you want a trait that can perma cool down someones abilities? Or better yet, put stomp and rezing on cool down when it is not even a skill? I am at a lost for words….

Ranger bunker build

Hey, Im currently looking for a bunker/trapper build on a ranger.

This is for Spvp.

I wouldn’t say this is exactly a bunker build, but I have been playing it a lot since patch and have successfully 2v1 (as in kill them both) against 2 Thieves (both S/p), Warrior Mesmer duo, 2 Rangers, and then a Elementalist and Necromancer.

(with the update you can have a second sigil on short bow, I would suggest geomancy)

The key is to use your dodges wisely and pets f2. You have 2 normal dodges then another 3 with sword and dagger (with relatively good cool downs).

You have 4 hard CCs with wolf fear and shortbow 5 (if you hit form behind) and the wolf and dog lunge. You have quite a few soft CC including your dog immobilize, trap immobilize and cripple, shortbow cripple, dagger cripple, etc etc.

I can 1v1 any class with this build (Warriors are a joke) but I would say the hardest profession to kill with this build are Engineers and (good) Mesmers.

Thieves punish and counter-play pure damage or burst based builds. If you didn’t play one of those builds then the thing you claim is toxic wouldn’t exist. Essentially, players are just mad another player is doing to them what they intentionally built to do to other people.

Now when it comes to thief, they can go full zerker, no toughness but they will still have survivability similar or greater(depends on class) due to high amount of stealth and disengage abilities, sure they can’t cap points like that… but then again if they jump into fight and kill somebody instantly with their unavoidable attacks then they don’t need to disengage or go invis.

More like are hard counter to high burst classes/build without having counter to themselves. Maintaining higher burst and higher survivability and not suffering problems other classes do all that with same/similar stat/trait investment.

Ooh! I love this game!

If Warriors are OP, then why do the losing competitive teams always have them?

Hint: They cheese garbage players at this game.

On topic:
- wvw blobs are 80% war/guard
- top pvp teams only use 1 thief
- most roamers rerolled to engineer ( better 1vXcapability)
- lfg post says heavy only

1. Thieves are strong roamers, nobody talks about their blob power. As long as engies are not involved and both players are maximized in their profession efficiency, thief dominates.

2. Like a roamer, they are strong in small numbers, too much thieves is never good unless you want to cheese bad players. Hint hint, top tier PvP teams won’t do anything but laugh at your garbage Hambow build.

3. Engineer is the hidden most faceroll class in this game, memorize your toolbelt, voila, go 1v4 for fun (Source: I 1v2’d Maguuma Veteran and Bronze Raider on my 5th time roaming, it’s hilarious how easily engineer can outplay with it’s godkitten overloaded skillset). Bad players who get cheesed by stunlock OP 420noscope warriors still believe warrior is the most OP.

4. Heavies don’t die easily in dungeons, nobody cares about thieves regarding dungeons, they’re fine.

Finally another person who understands shows up in the forums.

Stuns need diminishing returns.

Maybe in a future patch they will just take out crowd control and dodge mechanic because it is to difficult to think about those things while rapidly pushing 1.

Wait ill show you a random screenshot aswell. This screenshot proofs that hambows/warriors are weak and glass power rangers are the new meta. Top 250 hambow vs my full glass hyrbid BM /power ranger. As you can see i didnt have my elite ready for the fight (so no stab) but nps didnt need it. Didnt warriors counter rangers? Oo

Warriors have always been free kills to any decent player who is half competent with their profession. It will continue to be that way until they give Warriors something actually class defining that you can not see for 1.5 seconds before it happens.

I disagree with this statement.

I showed some few odd Warriors well before the patch on how to duel with the Mace/Shield——Greatsword build. I was a fairly active dueling Warrior in Spvp when the actual pros were still in game. I am not saying I posted the very first iteration of the build but it was most certainly a early version (pretty sure the only one at the time I posted it).

It was the only build I used for Warrior in Spvp until I dropped the game and I know a few Warriors who also took to liking it because it had decent survival measures (even back then) and required some sort of skill. Even back then Warriors could clean conditions fairly well when using Mending and Restorative Strength (trait).

Was it used in Tpvp? No, because it is first and for most a dueling/soloing build. It could however be used in Tpvp as a far point pusher back in the day (which is what my team used it as).

Maybe your experience is different but in Spvp most Warriors were either Axe/Shield—Greatsword or Mace/Shield—Greatsword (before patch of course, but even back then you had Warriors using Hammer—Mace/Shield to stun lock as well). Why you ask? Because the aoe “meta” had not evolved yet and most teams were single target burst damage. This is all from my experience playing quite a bit of Spvp, so take it with however much salt you will.
