Warriors need to be nerfed

We guardians got nerfed every patch since release. We guardians have lowest base health (same as elementalists and thieves), while warriors have highest (same as necromancer). Warriors also got good ranged options while guardians are stuck with scepter and staff. Guardians are hardly overpowered currently.

Guardians aren’t overpowered, but my Guardian is definitely more useful and desirable than my Warrior in both PvE and SPvP. I actually prefer the theme behind Warrior more, but currently Guardian offers so much for what little is lost that there is little point bringing Warriors along when you can have Guardians instead.

Ideas to fix the Scepter

If they ever sped up the scepters projectiles, expect another damage reduction to the weapon. They allready reduced it`s damage by roughly 1/3 then what it was since headstart. They did increase it`s range a little too. But for faster projectiles the attack speed and or damage would get slowed or reduced quite a bit.

Probably, currently it’s the longest ranged scepter and it’s auto-attack has comparatively high damage. Honestly the only issue I currently have with scepter is it’s projectile speed – I have no issue wielding a wand or shooting glowing bubbles at my enemy, but I would like to see a boost in projectile speed, even if it comes at a cost of projectile damage (provided the sustained DPS remains the same).

Personally I think the best DPS you can get will be Axe/Sword(Good bleeds and heavy ranged attack) or Axe/Mace(Good stun and more vulnerability).

I also play with mace offhand because of how great the utility is, but it doesn’t change the fact that in terms of pure damage, axe is the best offhand and main hand weapon in the Warrior’s arsenal.

As to condition builds on Warriors, personally I think they’re stupid. It’s one of the things that a number of other classes do so much better than Warrior could ever hope too.

Varyag.3751

I didn’t ask for a boost in damage or mobility, I asked for more control of where moves go.

Whirlwind Attack – 33% Movement Speed increase (swiftness) + dodge + spin, you can move wherever you want to.

Hundred Blades – Your allowed to move while using this, but if you do move, the damage of the next attacks are cut by 25%, if you don’t move it changes nothing.

See bolded, those would fall under the category of “mobility” to me. I will make this as simple as possible for you: Greatsword. Does. Not. Need. It. The only Greatsword skills that need some work are Rush (which needs to work) and Arcing Slice, which is pointless given FGJ. Most of what you’re asking for are boosts to skills which are working well and as intended.

Most of the thief’s abilities have both control AND mobility.

To me it seems you wish to make the Warrior simply more like the Thief, it is not and should never be the Thief. If you want to play “control and mobility”, play your Thief. It’s pretty simple and far more useful than calling for boosts to a weapon that hardly needs it.

I play Warrior, Guardian, Elementalist and Thief.

I don’t feel its fair to use Spvp as a crutch, I don’t want to comment until I’ve actually leveled and played with the traits.

Then unless you spend a lot of gold on armour/weapons/runes and retraining skills you’ll never ever experience the various weapons and builds available to Warrior and the only person missing out due to this is you. Anybody who doesn’t take advantage of the free items and retraining in the Mists to experiment is really foolish, especially considering how fair it is – everybody can use it.

Greatsword is fine (except for Rush), it doesn’t need extra boosting in terms of damage or mobility. If you want super mobility play Sword/Warhorn with the correct traits, or go back to playing your Thief.

Please give us spvp gear progression. 10% difference from baseline-best.

Varyag.3751

Short answer – no.

The reason is that we are working towards an esport based on skill. I realize some of you want your items to matter, and if you want that, WvW gives you that feeling.

But we feel it’s very important that you are on equal footing with your opponents when in sPvP. We want skill to be the single largest determinant in who wins in sPvP.

We may add more aesthetic choices down the road, and maybe the stats on the amulets can change, but overall we want to stay w/ the “no power grind” system that we have established.

Hope that makes sense!

THIS right here is why Guild Wars and it’s successor are good PvP games.

@tol I got a full set of exotic armor/jewelry before DR was in place and it was a huge grind. If I were a new player today and tried to get exotics I would just give up on the game.

This is funny, because I have full exotic armour and jewellery which I obtained without grinding. Actually, most of it obtained with gold I made through explorations in the high level zones and selling the loot/crafting resources I found along the way.

Guess grinding isn’t the only way to get stuff.

GW2 can not survive if all the wowplayers would leave for good.

Guild Wars survived well enough, it still is as a matter of fact.

Personally I don’t care what games you play or played. The type I don’t like are the MMORPG jumpers; these guys are usually “WoW veterans” with three second attention spans whom are “sick of WoW” and jump to every new release MMO for a month, then complain on forums that it’s not good enough (usually because it’s not enough like WoW) and then repeat the cycle ad infinitum. The ones around here often complain about the lack of mounts, seven dozen equipped skills and keep calling Ranger “Hunter”… but I’m getting a bit off topic here.

I’d actually prefer a simple system kind of similar to Damaste’s. Simply put, you have Aggressive and Defensive stances that would grant different weapon skills (and toughness/power bonuses) depending on what stance you were currently in, similar to the Elementalist’s attunement system.

Of course, firstly it’s too similar to that system AND it would require too much work/balance for something that really isn’t needed, so it’s just a fantasy more than anything.

Never had too much trouble with Guardians, they’re powerful sure, but unless they’re traited for defence they won’t last a great amount of time anyway. Those heavily defensive ones that take forever to kill I usually just ignore… and go for the guys that will actually deal enough damage to be worth the trouble of killing, going back to the Guardian when we’ve killed his team. At range they’re pretty hopeless currently, their Sceptre’s auto-attack is a really slow attack and pretty avoidable, so you could choose to bring them down with a Rifle if you like.

Guardian with longbow

in Guardian

Posted by: Varyag.3751

Varyag.3751

Yes, that’s a fair concern. There’s always a question of efficacy and skillset that—at least in this game—is intimately tied to style. Because specific weapons have a specific tactical use, you have to ask yourself, ‘What skills will a Longbow provide to a Guardian? And how do you balance giving an already strong class another strong option?’

Very good points, I find it difficult to think of a way the Guardian could use Longbow without encroaching on either Ranger Longbow (sniper) or Warrior Longbow (aoe conditions) territory.

One of the problems with Scepter isn’t that it’s a bad weapon—it’s not, honestly. It’s that it’s a limited weapon. Scepter has no boons. No symbols. No real trait support whatsoever. No significant synergy with Torch, Focus or Shield. It has nearly zero tactical variety, which makes it peculiar among Guardian weapons.

I agree with this and this is exactly why new weapons shouldn’t (and won’t) be added for some time to come; some weapons need looking at and altering, Guardian’s Sceptre among them.

*1. Arrow of Truth-Shoot an arrow in a straight line at the target hitting all enemies in the line of the arrow.

  • 2. Alignment-Fire multiple arrows at the target, each arrow dealing damage and stacking a single vunrability(7 stacks). Allies caught in the way of the arrows are healed for each arrow that hits them.(Minor healing).
  • 3. Symbol of Zeal- Lay down a symbol at target area that gives allies Vigor and damage foes.
*4. Beacon-Arch an arrow into the sky creating a brightlight under the target area. Enemies directly under the aoe are burned and allies receive fury.
4-a. Illuminate- The beacon expands all of its light in a final burst, blinding enemies and granting regeneration to allies. Increase the recharge of Beacon
*5. Zealot’s Arch- Send an arching arrow into the field that explodes in flames creating a fire field and burning enemies.
5-a. Zealot’s Intervention- Port to the fire-area made and send out a wave of flame that purifies a single conditon from each ally in range, and burns enemies caught in its wave. Creates a blast finisher.Increases the Zealot’s arch cooldown.

Truely comeing up with a unique concept in a weapon thats both unique among the class, and classes is not that hard.

There’s nothing unique about this; you’ve just combined Ranger’s auto attack (Long Range Shot) with their Piercing Arrows trait and also taken Ranger’s second attack (Rapid Fire) plus adding vulnerability and healing to it. While skills 4 and 5 essentially render Longbow Warrior useless (especially were this Guardian Longbow to have 1200 range untraited), because these skills AoE Blind and Burn but also with condition removal.

And to those guys who are complaining about having to use a Sceptre: You’re playing a magic class, essentially a hybrid of heavy armour and protective magic, of course you’re going to be using some of the weapons found in the scholar classes.

I play Warrior, Guardian, Elementalist and Thief.
