I agree the rewards are usually nothing noteworthy, in about 30 chests I’ve opened I got maybe 1 black lion ticket scrap, the rest just useless transform tonics and a few bags of coins.

And the price? Since you can obtain a key in 20 minutes think they are way overpriced on the gem store. 125 gems for 1x, which is almost 4 gold.. most people don’t make 4 gold in 20 minutes so they are more likely to do a black lion key run than to buy them from the gem store, am I wrong?

Given this information arena net really should re-evaluate the value of these in order to make them more attractive to the gem store.

As these are not suggestions about GW2 I thought this forum would be more appropriate.

Here are a couple of suggestions to make it easier/more comfortable to browse the forum comments.

Thumbs up / Thumbs down
To make it easier for both players and anet staff to see peoples responses towards comments by players, I suggest a thumbs up/thumbs down button to every post so you can see next to each players comments if they agree or disagree’s with the original post topic.
I’m aware of the current upvoting “thumbs up” button available in the only the original topic of only some forums, but this doesn’t help us see which comments are in agreement or disagreement with the original suggestion or thought.

Although we do have names, I find it much easier to follow a conversation in the forums when people have pictures next to their names, as how the human mind works we generally recognise pictures and colours faster than words, this is why most/all forums in the world use avatars. Why do we not have that here?

Although you do more damage with axe than sword, I can’t see how it would be faster as you are sacrificing savage leap which is a great boost to movement speed, but maybe the kill speed makes up for that, hard to tell.

I would like to see some sort of “Beta patch notes” where they list changes. Those may or may not make it into the game, but will give everyone equal footing.

This is the most sensible and easily implementable solution to tackle this obvious problem.

Comments made by some users which are neither helpful or constructive and generally opposed to the idea of equality of information between players would lead us to conclude one of 2 things;
1.) they are are extremely naive and unaware of these things happening, or don’t believe they are happening

ah, but you are still losing 1 copper per item vendored, a small margin I know but you are still losing money on it, contrary to the statement.
One stack of 8 copper items would buy for 20silver, but vendor for 17.50 silver.

It’s not possible to buy at vendor price, only 1 copper above vendor price.
And when you sell, you are losing 15% (posting fee/sales tax).

count yourselves lucky! I have been unable to sell any items for over a WEEK with this stupid error message.. arena net mucked something up on my account preventing me from selling on the trading post at all, period.

In an interview at PAX yesterday before the launch of the patch, Colin Johanson answered to the question regarding the constant requirement to make new back items for every new skin, said that would be one use for this item, though it’s main function was for splitting legendaries.

through discoveries, the price is there for you to see. if you think it costs 50gold then either you cought the market at a very good time, invested in materials prior to patch, or have some way to reduce 150g.

Also bare in mind, prices listed are a minimum, as it assumes there are an infinite amount of items at the price listed.

If you already have 400 skill in crafting, without any materials already hoarded, to buy the materials in the most cost efficient way, this is how much it costs.

(I have never found this site/guides to be wrong, though I havn’t tried 400-500 yet so I guess there could be a bug in the calculations, but I’m sure they would have noticed it by now.)

this is rather specious, if we adhere to this methodology across the board then no items would ever become account bound, in fear of upsetting the rare few who purchased multiples for each character.

generally speaking, the majority playerbase, due to the cost/value of an item, usually do not buy multiples of expensive items for each character unless they can easily afford it, so they could hardly complain that arena net do something to please the majority of poorer players who cannot afford it on all their characters.
(if this statement was untrue, there wouldn’t be so many people asking for it to be account bound)

this is just greed, labelled by rich players and as “fairness” to help maintain their already overflowing wallets.

and yes, there will be a minority of poor players who spend every penny they get getting expensive items on all their alts, but the majority playerbased should hardly be punished for these types of players.

the outcome of making an expensive item account bound:

poor players = gain (only have to buy one yay!)
rich players = gain (only have to buy one yay!)
rich greedy players = no gain (omg my quarterly reports are gonna look bad..)

changes like this help balance the overall economy.

yes.. and added a hoof.. bad shortcut, they should have designed a more unique footprint for this, or changed bifrost, though I do think these footprints match the weapon design/projectiles nicely.

Seriously guys you have a very misguided idea of how much crafting costs to level up.
You should all be using http://gw2crafts.net/ , as it uses live TP data to calculate (and guide you step by step) the cheapest or fastest way to level your craft.

The information right now using the cheapest craft as an example:
Artificing to 400 —> 6g15s
Artificing 400 to 500 --> 219g

But what is not available, is the estimated cost to actually craft the ascended weapon.

If nothing does, or if you want more permanent expensive services unlocked, search the trading post for things like “mystic forge conduit” (portable mystic forge) or just search for the word “permanent” (bank access, trading post, vendor, and more..).

There may be a couple of reasons for your receiving this error non-stop. Though, seeing as you clearly have had a game account since at least last September, it doesn’t seem to be related to the restrictions to TP and in-game mail usage that is placed on new game accounts.

However, the TP and in-game mail system seem to be tied together in many ways. So, even though this may not sound logical at all and would seem to have absolutely no relation to your trading post not working, please give it a try.

• Can you try to send me (or anyone else) an in-game mail and see if you get an error message stating, “Processing previous mail.”

I’ve seen these two issues (unable to sell on TP, and unable to send a mail) being tied together. Others have reported that cleaning mail out of their mailbox has helped resolve the issue, though some needed to empty it completely and then do a full game restart.

Also, have you tried to run the -repair command on your GW2 installation?
Have you tried deleting your GW2 game cache or deleting your local.dat file?
I don’t expect it to be related to these, but I’ve learned to disregard logic with many areas of this game lately, so one of them may actually help if the mail deletion doesn’t.

If you would like, I’ll help you in more detail on these steps if the mail deletion doesn’t help.

Hi thanks for the tips, you may be onto something here..

1.) when I mail you, it says that exact error you stated above, so I tried to reply to a friends message I received a while ago, and and it says something different “your message has been suppressed due to excessive messaging.”.

2.) so I cleared my mailbox, closed the game, logged back in, same problems

3.) I deleted local.dat, no change

4.) I clear my temp folder daily, so the gw2 temp data from there is always new

5.) I ran a repair through “Gw2.exe -repair” command, it checked all the several hundred thousand files, no change.

6.) I also (upon suggestion of another loosely related forum post) did a full windows update as there may be some certificate authentication thing not updated, rebooted several times during this process to apply them all, this also had no affect.

7.) to finally eliminate the possibility of it being my local pc or game installation, I logged into my account using a different laptop that is used by a different account, who’s owner has no problems using the trading post on that account, but I was still unable to sell items or send mail to you

So yes.. I think arena net have kittened up somewhere with my account.
I have made a support ticket several days ago via the website but have had no reply.
I also reported the bug in-game using the tool.

I made a post about this asking if anybody else had this problem, nobody has replied, only people say this happens is when they send more than 10 items very quickly (as it’s intended to work).

So other than hoping anet will eventually reply to my support ticket (probably not on the top of their priority list right now), I am unable to play the game properly, other than vendoring everything i get. which I’m not going to to obviously.
What else can I do really?

I can’t sell any items on the trading post for over 2 days, maybe my problems relate to the cause that made these issues.

It has been 2 days since I was last able to sell anything on the trading post, I get the message “error attempting to sell” any time I try to sell anything.

for anybody doing key runs who actually cares about this info, by teleporting directly to the next waypoint after completing each instanced mission, I reduced a total of 2 minutes from the run!
(and yes, I’m using a solid state hdd)

now the lowest is 20 minutes! Is this a world record? I wonder…

sorry yes typed it wrong, the middle one I do usually pick, same as in the vid (common family), but still 22 min.. can’t seem to break this barrier..

it’s odd really, with all the enhancements I kill mobs 1 third quicker, but the completion time doesn’t change.. I feel like I’m missing something.

No matter how hard I try, it seems impossible to complete a key run in less than 22 minutes.

Which really makes no sense, since the first time I did it in 22 minutes (attached pic) I didn’t use any upgrades (food or armor/waepons), just using what you get free with a new toon, including Hero’s Band.

As I have golem banker sent to all new characters, I tried to reduce the time by upgrading the following with every new toon:

ARMOR:
[Worn Chain Coat] +4 power
[Duelist’s Chain Gauntlets of Balthazar] +2 con dmg, +10 power (rune of balt)
[Worn Chain Legs] +3 power
[Worn Chain Greaves] +2 power

WEAPONS:
[Mighty Sword of Force] 5 power, sigil of forge (1% dmg)
[Mighty Warhorn of Justice] sigil of justice (+3% dmg to bandits)

FOOD/UTIL:
[Rough Sharpening Stones] +1% of toughness as power
[Grilled Mushrooms] +20 con dmg

I have tried 3 times, and every single time it’s EXACTLY 22 minutes, no more, no less, even when the pre-starting event (defend the garrison) is already complete, doors open, running straight through to the boss, the total time doesn’t change, weird huh?

NO NEW LEGENDARIES?
It was probably a rumour some months back, but people mentioned the possibility of new legendaries coming, but I see in the patch notes there are only new ascended items instead.

So with this in mind, as the stats of new ascended weapons and old legendaries will be the same, but with legendaries having the new added ability to change stat combo’s on-the-fly, should we all continue crafting our legendaries and forget about these new ascended weapons, if we want the “best” weapons in the game?

An official response would be nice, but if there are facts somewhere I have missed answering these questions and a player can verify for me, please reply with the info.
Apologies if I I have missed something which has already been explained, I’ve been away for a week or so and there has been a lot of news since.

“LEGANDARY TREASURES” ACCOUNT MEDAL/ACHIEVEMENT
1.) Since Ascended gear will have a higher/equal stat rating as current legendaries, will crafting a new ascended item grant you the previous “legendary treasures” account medal or will this be renamed to Ascended Treasures account medal?
Or will players still need to craft the old legendaries in the old way to get this achievement?

WHICH IS EASIER?
2.) Assuming you can still craft the old legendaries in the same old way (I have seen no mention of this changing), which is faster, and which is cheaper to craft, the old or the new ascended weapons?

IF #1 IS TRUE, DROPPED ITEMS GIVE INSTANT MEDAL/ACHIEVEMENT
3.) It is stated that ascended gear can now also come from an ascended weapon chest which can drop from various events.
With this in mind, won’t it be a bit unfair to players who have invested hundreds (if not thousands) of gold, or using the new method (if easier) just to get their account medal and prestige of having a legendary/ascended item, only to see a new player kill something and loot an item for free?
Until now all you can get for a quick boost-for-free was the precursor, so is giving players an instant ascended weapon REALLY a good idea? Won’t it be better to just give them a rare/valuable material for crafting a new ascended weapon instead?

Here are some facts, which (I hope) may help diffuse the almost transparent attempt to inflate prices for personal gain by making this post.

Generally speaking, most people don’t like “random” boons, this is why engineer is the least played class, this is according to the majority of replies from a post I made in the engineer forum a while ago asking why people favour this class the least. Some people also stated in that post this is why they don’t like using a staff on their mesmer.
People prefer to control their abilities to maximize performance, not bet on an RNG.

Losing 3% damage or 5% crit (force/accuracy sigil) for a random boon, of which you may already have in combat from other players, or your own skills, is not likely going to be favourable for the majority player base.

The only chance I can see this sigil would be useful is if the duration from each boon is so long that you can stack up all boons from chain killing mobs and keep up an array of useful boons that you would otherwise not be able to get, but I highly doubt anet would develop such an OP sigil for obvious balance reasons.

So no, investing in these items will not likely yield you a profit unless people believe the statements made in here and buy them, pushing up the prices.

Just look at all the “on kill” sigils, food, runes etc that are for sale, they are the cheapest and least liked items in gw2, because people want the stats before combat, to apply in the combat, more than a bonus to your next kill in short concession.

Right then, so can anybody explain this? As you see in the vid, no items put up for sale or have been sold in the past 11 hours from making the vid a few hours ago, and yet I am unable to list ANY items.
I will try again later, but so far as I see it, I’m being permanently banned from selling items for absolutely no reason at all.

I think anet have mucked up somewhere, I’ve been playing since beta and never had this type of problem even once.

They should really stop this nonsense and allow us to play the game as it was intended.

This is a bug, it happened to me once, just logout/login and it should resolve the problem.

I assume arena net (though not announced yet?) are going to make a free trial version of the game to entice more players, and this is just a bug from them trying to implement this behind the scenes.

well as I understood it from their “looking ahead for 2013” post some months back, the new materials you need to skill up to 500 will be dropping from champion bags and stuff, and the new precursor materials (for the new legendaries) will be on a 1 per day crafting/gathering cooldown, so I can’t see where globs pay a part in either of this, but I guess we will know soon.

Did I miss something in the upcoming patch notes? I’ve been on holiday for a week.. prices are unusually high, anybody know why ?

How on earth are you supposed to dodge something when you can’t see anything?

RNG instant death mechanics should not exist in any MMO, there is no skill in RNG, and dying because “the game says you will” should not acceptable.

ITT: People with no clue of the game’s mechanics make wild, unsubstanciated, accusations. In other words, same kitten different thread.

There are a million things that could be happening there. Most likely just a weird interaction with multiple AoEs causing a counter or animation canceling.

It’s also possible that it is down to human error- i.e.: you are someimes doing something that cancels the block, such as double tapping the counter.

Liandri’s attacks are all blockable, but the ranger’s GS counter is slightly atypical.

Indeed, for most peoples speculative accusations, you could be right, that is why I included video evidence, so feel free to watch it back frame by frame like I have, and you will see these few things that could cause it to stop (including the things you mentioned) you can see did not happen.

You can clearly see it’s quite obviously a bug, making the fight harder for rangers to block the attacks, I’m not too sure why people are debating what they can see with their own eyes?

When I get more time I’ll do another vid with the combat log, if people still don’t believe what they can see, maybe numbers would help clear things up.

It’s 10 different AoE circles. The skill only blocks one of the circles.

you should both vids again closely, there are multiple blocks from more than one aoe. in the last vid there are 2 blocks.
I’m guessing you are not a ranger, or you would know that this block keeps blocking all attacks while channelled (see wiki) including multiple aoe’s, I use this in PVE dungeons a lot for aoe carpet bombing and such.

And I’m not saying it makes this fight impossible, of course I can run around the room, but it’s a obvious bug in the fight mechanics.

This only applies to melee attacks.

Also proof that she doesn’t always cheat, and you can sometime block this normally like every other ranged fight in gw2:

I use the ranger #4 greatsword ability which blocks all attacks for a few seconds
(it only counters if you block a melee attack, none of which are what I took damage from, nor did my character try to counter attack, as you can see).

block, block, -150216 damage …. -.-

Why do npc’s cheat? It’s hard enough as it is without this type of behaviour going on :<
