Do some even-numbered fractals. I get cores/lodestones at least half the time from the Jade Maw. Not always Charged, but the others can be sold and the money used to buy more charged (note that it’s often beneficial to buy the cores and make the lodestones yourself).
The WPs probably exist because each of the temple has a vendor with “special” karma rewards that appears once the area is cleared and the WP becomes uncontested.
When You say clear area that do you mean? Mobs all the time is spawn and how you will clear this area when You do solo? Is no any event around here at the moment Also You forgot about fireball which come from sky and pushing in one side, or another side, so get more mobs attention, also where no time to regenerate health, because of fireballs from sky and its comes plenty of them, and plus mobs.
It’s a big event with multiple smaller events you need to complete first. Follow the clues in the top right for the event. It can be done with as little as 5 people (and tbh it’s easier with 5 than 50).

Almost 2 weeks in gw now and loving it so far..despite the gay build we are forced to play in pvp.Forced, only if yer wanting to go FotM. I rep 0/25/0/20/25 and do alright. It is a tradeoff, however: bit less tanky, but some more damage options. Especially when one splits time between weapon types.
I’ve tested some offensive builds,the dmg is nice but if 2 or more jump me i kiss the world good bye.My average 20~ fps doenst help either :> (spvp)
I’ve taken a couple of 2v1s with my glass cannon build (think it’s 30/20/0/0/20 or 30/30/0/0/10) and even a 3v1 a while back when Eles were still considered awful in pvp.
I started as a thief, then it got boring, everyone thinks they’re OP and, well, they are. So I literally went online to seek out what’s the hardest class to play and underpowered, and the answer seemed to be Elementalist.
Oh and, Ride the lightning definitely was something I just wanted to have.

If you look at it from the perspective of the average player, we are. In good hands, however, we are great. And of course, if you put the same effort required to play a warrior well into an elementalist, you’d not survive a single mob in Orr.
Yet another reason why DR has not helped the cause.
How long does it take to do the P1 and P2? I never bothered to speed run dungeons, however, am curious to know the time/reward frame.
I’ve done p1 in about 6 minutes and p2 is a little bit longer (maybe 15-20? Never really timed p2) since you have more events you need to do and they’re longer.
I’m a mage at heart, tried it in BWE1 and I never even considered another class. All other classes just have a dull and boring playstyle compared to the Ele. Same reason I couldn’t play anything but a Mage in Rift as well. For some reason Mages seem to be the difficult class to play in games and I honestly really like it that way, makes it much easier to tell the good players from the bad.

The event was bugged for ages, when people did it originally they where around lvl12 or so. Really how many 80’s have done this event?

Named items like that can drop from the chest whatever your level. I’ve seen people get lvl 80 exotics from Thaumanova event during head start. And for example the Shatterer and the other dragon can drop lvl 80 exotics even if they’re not lvl 80.
actually you run ele in AC path 3 because somehow for no apparent reason,, ice bow destroys borrows in 2 hits…..

Ice bow is a utility spell. Its utility happens to be demolition. And the non apparent reason is that ice bow’s area of effect is narrower than Meteor Shower but with similar number of faster projectiles, resulting in a much greater number of hits and thus quicker destruction of the target.

Any semi-large static structure will be hit by 90% or more of the arrows due to their large hitboxes. Try it in HotW path 1, it should deal about the same to the totems on the last boss there, maybe a bit less since they’re a tad smaller.

dungeons are stupidly easy in this game. There hasn’t been a boss that I didn’t learn completely the first attempt. I’ve also never been kicked from a group for being an ele. Actually my fastest ever AC run was 2 guardians, 2 eles and a mesmer. Everything was instantly obliterated through aoes and bosses got burned down ridiculously fast.
I’ve played Ele since early beta, but it pretty much clicked for me in BWE1. Just great all round, complex but not as stressful as my defilemancer mage in Rift. I think it took me all of 10 minutes to decide that I was going to main an ele. For me leveling after release was a breeze, mixing zergbusting in WvW with good knowledge of the class made everything fairly easy.
You might also be able to get it back if you guest on that server when that comes out. I’m pretty sure it uses your guild stuff from the server you guest on.
Events/kills I get from WvW or Orr, kill variety from Gendarran (got a 1.5 min circuit there). Gathering from wherever.
The only reason transfers were free at the start was to help people find a community they like to settle in. Guesting is essentially transferring, except you can’t do WvW. If you’re guesting it’s just like being on the server, the only requirement being that you have at least 1 friend on the server.
Tbh the free transfers should have ended a month or two ago.
That’s a property of all the special bags, AFAIK. That is because the items in them (armor/weapons of whatever rarity in this case) are supposed to stay there and not be put in the bank or compacted into other bags.
The Charr as a whole are fairly ant-magic. That doesn’t prevent individuals from dabbling in it. Even though the Charr don’t like magic, they can still see its uses.
At least it would be a useful elite.
If a level 1 character wants to do a low level fractal with his friends, I don’t see why we should stop him.
This is exactly my point. We shouldn’t stop them. However, I’ll be kitten if some internet forum warriors are going to tell me that it’s wrong to kick them out of a pug. Stick with your friends or your guildies if you want to join with a low level character. Don’t expect the 80’s to cater to your desire to run a fractal.
To the post further up about 2/3manning it. Big deal. Been there, done that. Bottom line is I’d rather 3 man it than bring low levels to fill out the party, most of the time it ends up being that anyway.
Are all 80’s capable? Far from it. However, I will take my chances that the 80 will outperform the 16. Again, my preference. Nothing elitist about it, which is why I added to the thread in the first place.
I did not say I had seen people 2/3 manning it (though I have done that too). I’ve seen 5 people lvl 2 and 3, all light or medium armour, do it. Someone else posted the actual link. Your argument was that if a full group of low levels couldn’t do it, they have no right to join a lvl 80 group. The fact is, a full group of low levels can do it, and therefore (according to you) they should be able to join the 80s.
What possible reason would they have to kick you three? And how did two people kick three of you out?
You only need 2 people to say yes to kick someone. So they start a kick vote on the people they want out and just say yes. And what reason? So that you don’t get loot? Or they can intentionally wipe and sell the spot to someone else who just wants the marks? There are plenty of reasons why.
So lemme see if I understand pro-lvl 16-fractals puggers statements right….
You would rather carry someone and do an extra portion of work in an instance while they contribute little nothing at all instead of each party member pulling their fair share of the weight? And your reasoning behind this is “because it’s easy”??

If a player is kitten, it makes no difference if they’re lvl 1 or 80, they’ll still be kitten. Remember that they are boosted up to lvl 80 while they’re in there, so it’s not like they’re not dealing any damage and get 1shot by everything.

If they nerf the aoe on D/D ele I will quit. I usually dislike posting stuff like this, but it’s true. 2 out of 20 D/D abilities are single target. TWO. If they nerf the aoe they are directly nerfing out ST damage as well, and that is unacceptable unless certain other classes receive heavy ST damage nerfs as well.

Any skills that are not available to everyone of a given class are not available in SPvP. This includes all racial skills and the Mistfire Wolf (don’t remember if it was a pre-order or deluxe edition bonus).
It’s ok, you’ll save some money by making your own food (at least for some of the food types) and it’s a nice stat boost while leveling.
i’m interested to know, how someone i know who made a vast amount of ectos (over 250) still has his account, yet someone else i know actually LOST gold on this recipe got banned.. logic ? if the worst offenders were banned, how are some of them still running around the game while others are not ..
i also think to introduce a recipe, and then declare the ingredients were meant to be something else, how can you blame the players for this.. because we should magically know what you intended the recipe to be? (and for the record, i do not even have JC craft, was not banned and did not make a single item so i’m not posting this because im kitten i got caught or anything) but i still find it crazy people have been perma banned over this,
if YOU make an error in a recipe YOU add to game, players do not deserve to be perma banned for it.. We cannot be expected to KNOW that it’s wrong.. and also to say that you made a public announcement after the karma thing..so people should have known this would happen.. not all people were around at that time to read that post, not all people check every day on the website to make sure you didnt make a mistake again and have posted about it.. try sending out mass emails or in game mails to the player base to make sure they are aware of what is going on, not just leave it on our backs to check you guys havent made more mistakes

Your friend was lucky, he was below the threshold for what they banned for (~200 uses of the recipe I think) and got more than the expected amount of ectos (which is between 0.9 and 1 per salvage). While your friend of who lost money was unlucky and was above the threshold and likely got less than the expected amount of ectos.
Well see, that’s the thing…they did. You just didn’t hear an uproar about it because nobody got banned before this. Until this point crafting to salvage for ectos is where the ecto price softcap came from. That’s why market enthusiasts are so concerned right now, even those of us who aren’t banned.
There is no other recipe that could create an infinite amount of ectos from only a single ecto and basic crafting materials. All other ways either requires ectos or fine crafting materials that are always lost in the craft. No other recipes give you back the rare crafting materials required to make it + ectos.
The difference between a cheap mat and a rare mat is the price.
There is a difference between common mats (silk/mithril etc) and fine/rare mats (claws/bloods/ectos etc).
Ok, so the Troll/Kohler thing is possibly an exploit? Then why are they programmed to attack each other? That makes zero sense. They could’ve just been designed only to attack player characters and their minions etc. In fact, if it is an exploit this should be addressed in the next patch. Seriously though, everyone knows about this, I am certain Anet knows about this, and so far they haven’t touched it, which tells me it’s working as intended.
About the other point: so, if I get rare mats and craft something I don’t need, say a rune I got through discovery, then I am allowed to sell it, right? But if I bought mats from the TP and then sold what I’ve crafted for profit, then that is considered an exploit? Or does the whole thing depend on quantities? If I buy mats for runes and sell 3 a week it’s okay, if I sell 50 per day it’s not?
Buying stuff, crafting, then selling is not an exploit in any way (in the general case). There might be some specific recipes that are bugged and can be seen as exploits. Though I don’t think that would be related to selling the end product at a profit. That would be more in the realm of the snowflake where you can get essentially keep making the same item forever with only inputting new basic materials and getting back the rare mats + more every time.
Had it obviously appeared to be an exploit, I would not have done it.
Out of curiosity, is there any other recipe in the game you have used 50 times in a row, salvaging and then recycling ingredients like this particular recipe allowed you to?

No. The gain for the player base, by losing all those exploiters and cheaters, is far greater than the help to fix the economy given by those bans.
Yes there is look at rare shoulders recipe in original post , i have made batches of 250 of those when the price on the components was right to produce ectos , to sell at a profit after covering material costs.
But that one doesn’t give back enough of the rare mats (or any for that matter) so that after crafting 1 you can just keep going so long as you have the cheap common mats.
That is the key difference. In one case you have to continually input new rare mats, in the other you gain the initial investment of rare mats back with 80-100% certainty depending on kit used.

You do get some better rings and back pieces from Fractals. But don’t worry, the next big patch should bring those pieces to the rest of the game as well. They’ve admitted it was a mistake to bring ascended gear to only 1 part of the game first instead of bringing it out in all parts at once.
Dredge are no harder than most other mobs, imo. The real pain are the Ice Imps, they hit about 5x harder than most other mobs and are just an all-round pain in the kitten
I have done AC a number of times to earn a nice greatsword, but I was unaware of CoE dropping charged lodestones. Doesn’t it also require an event to be completed before it’s available? It took me forever to finish my personal story (the first time) because of the Arah event requirement. I will have to check out how often my server has groups doing CoE.
Use gw2lfg.com, so long as 1 party member has access to the dungeon all of you should be able to enter.
As I am on the quest to farm sunrise I feel this the most frustrating part ( besides getting my precursor ), but still this just increases the value of sunrise – so I dont mind it that much.
But what I hate most is people demanding to be everything the way the want it be.

If you come to the conlcusion that farming sparks is not a good way to get em then think about something else. Go farm fractals, go farm crucible, go farm skritts for bags, go farm money to buy it from the tp.
If you think the price is too high then you don’t value them as high as others do, that is all there is.
Maybe you should overthink your plan on getting a legendary if you can’t handle these kinds of problems.If Im not mistaken, I thought Arenanet made it clear that they were trying to get away from the whole annoyance of grinding. They don’t want the grind to get max level gear (ie full exotics). Getting the exact skins you want for your armour/weapons was not at all part of the original statement.
I don’t like doing dungeons, why does the game force me to do dungeons to get my legendary?

Now to answer your actual question, it is to ensure that people have time to accept the invite and load in before the game starts as well as make a quick battle plan based on the enemy team. If there is any significant delay between queuing up you need to allow for players not being present exactly when the queue pops, and 1 minute to allow for that when loading can take up to 30 seconds it is just way too little time.
It has already been lowered once from 5 minutes to 3 minutes. Lowering it again is not needed at all and would be detrimental to the game.
The non-named exotic weapons/armor from fractals are all account bound (stuff named sword, warhorn, trident, etc). Just salvage it if you can’t use it or save it for an alt.
are guilds CIR THUN etc still playing?

If there is a PvP monthly clearly stated then is it wrong to consider the other Pve? or do we have a "Mush"monthly and a PvP monthly??
We have a structured pvp monthly (that gives rewards strictly for spvp) and a monthly that covers the other aspects of the game.
So then do we get a fractal monthly, a crafting monthly, a dungeon monthly, an exploration monthly… the line between PvP and Pve is solid. Yes i get the sPvP monthly but why force ppl to WvW – a form of PvP for a monthly? maybe a WvW monthly – kill 50 invaders, take 5 caravans, use 30 supply etc.
Because WvW is considered part of the pve world. SPvP is 100% separate as far as the game is concerned (apart from bag space, grrr), which is why it has its own monthly. Fractals, dungeons, events, wvw and all that is part of the “PvE” part of the game and is therefore in the general daily/monthly achievements.
How can WvW be considered as PvE? dont get me wrong.. I WvW and enjoy it. My arguement is that Pve is Player vs environment. WvW is not that. In WvW we primarily fight vs other players… Im quite happy to get my achie there but i have guild friends and RL friends that dont agree with me. they dont want to stand outside some fort spamming aoe just to get a monthly (hoping to tag ppl) , with rewards that are for pve players.. These ppl have to change builds to hope to tag WvW (PvP) ppl for kills to count towards the 50 total each month.
It’s just how they defined it. For example any “pvp” skill balance changes will not affect WvW, only SPvP. They could have separated it into a WvW Monthly and I wouldn’t complain. In fact I’d be rather happy, as that would be more incentive to WvW as right now I only do WvW when I can get at least a few guildies to roam or an alliance guild has a group out.

I have a right to an infrastructure that matches me with players of similar skill level, the same as you.+
You have no rights regarding anything in the game. The devs decide what should be put into the game, no one else. You can suggest things, but saying you have a right to something makes you sound like an entitled brat and makes your entire argument seem ridiculous.
As to the problem with 1v1 balance, I gave a rough explanation for why it won’t work in a different (now locked) thread. Simply put: 5v5 demands an entirely different approach to gameplay than 1v1 or 2v2. Skills that are balanced or even weak in 1v1 or 2v2 can be gamebreaking in 5v5 and vice versa. And changing it so that is balanced in the other form might make it useless or gamebreaking in the other.
It should only glow when drawn at night. I know a lot of weapons don’t always lose their effects when sheathed (my priory and warden daggers often don’t lose their effects when I sheath them).
Balancing the game 5vs5 is a joke imo there are too many possible combinations with 8 classes and they all need to be balanced to call a game “5vs5 balanced”.
You need to balance the game based on 1vs1 principle ( or get near as possible to that goal) and when you do that game is balanced in every possible scenario ( 5vs5,2vs2,3vs3 etc) and in every possible game mode.
Balancing this game on 1vs1 principle is even more important here than in other MMOs because there is no holy trinity implemented and you need to rely more on yourself than on other people ( most fights there is no one to heal you, soak up damage for you or remove debuffs for you).That’s just laughably wrong. 1v1 fights are completely different from team fights. In 1v1 a support build would be completely useless, while in a 5v5 it could be really strong.
Or take an example of something that is strong 1v1, but not worth the slot in 5v5: Moa. This skill is a ridiculously strong ability 1v1, but you would never take it if you were planning on a team fight. Why? Because the other elite (which is not nearly as strong 1v1) is so much better for a team fight.
Or take a more aoe-focused class. If they were to be balanced 1v1 they would either need to have their aoe be as strong as other classes’ single target (if they are squishy), or they would need to be significantly more durable than other dps builds. Either way they become extremely powerful in group fights since they can take on their natural counter (st burst builds) due to the 1v1 balance aspect.1v1 balance is completely different from 2v2, 3v3, 5v5 or 20v20. The skills that make a difference at those team sizes can easily be worthless in 1v1 or have to be massively buffed to make a class viable for 1v1 and thus screwing up the team fights.
For a game that primarily revolves around team fights (5v5, 8v8), that is where the balance must lie, not in 1v1.

Your example of Moa vs other mesmer elite is a joke, “Moa is strong but the other one is stronger” its like asking a person would you rather be shot in the head or hanged.Moa is far from unusable in team fights as far as i know.Can someone in your team dispel MoA for you as to make MoA unusable in group fight?You MoA an enemy then your team bursts him down id say that is pretty strong.
There are far more variables to balance in a 5vs5 with 8 classes available to call the game 5vs5 balanced, then there are in1vs1 balanced game, and people who say 5vs5 balance or balance around game mode is the way to go make me laugh .I’m not going to write an essay on game balance to explain how you are wrong. Suffice it to say that if ANet balanced for 1v1 tPvP balance would be far, far worse than it is now.
So you are here just to read what everyone says, then offer NO helpful advice because “you are not going to take the time to explain how someone is wrong”

What support builds are you talking about? Game is dominated by bunkers and bursters.Give me one build that is commonly used atm and is support only ( meaning he cant burst and cant survive for a longer period of time when focused like bunkers can but provides excellent support for his team mates).
Your example of Moa vs other mesmer elite is a joke, “Moa is strong but the other one is stronger” its like asking a person would you rather be shot in the head or hanged.Moa is far from unusable in team fights as far as i know.Can someone in your team dispel MoA for you as to make MoA unusable in group fight?You MoA an enemy then your team bursts him down id say that is pretty strong.
There are far more variables to balance in a 5vs5 with 8 classes available to call the game 5vs5 balanced, then there are in1vs1 balanced game, and people who say 5vs5 balance or balance around game mode is the way to go make me laugh .
I’m not going to write an essay on game balance to explain how you are wrong. Suffice it to say that if ANet balanced for 1v1 tPvP balance would be far, far worse than it is now.
