Vayra – Elementalist
Forkrul Assail – Mesmer
Gonna have to try this out. Missing a bit zerker gear for maximum potential, but should be able to get a good setup for it.
First Offense- One hour
Second Offense- Two hours
Third Offense- Three hours
and so forthMake it reset every 24 hours.
Also for the bad ISP argument. If you dc or lag out, just make it back before the game ends and it doesn’t count penalty.
And if I DC at 490-450? Any system that gives that kind of penalty to innocent people is never going to be implemented. Ever. Any dev that would even suggest that would soon find himself out of a job.
I wouldn’t mind some buffs to Fire, though what I would really like is for Lava Tomb to be moved down to a 10s ICD (or have it removed altogether).
The latter might be better. Is it even used for anything other than rallying off of weakened mobs?
I use it in SPVP all the time with my GC build. It’s less useful now that Vapour Form doesn’t reset health, but still quite useful. My playstyle usually ends in me getting downed and rallying a lot, so something that ticks for 1000-1500 on players trying to stomp me is good, I’ve lost count of how many people have been downed trying to stomp me like that. It would be much better if it had no ICD.

Hard to play and hard to master are 2 different things.
Then technically you can play anything. Either hard to play means hard to get most of the potential out of or the term hard to play is completely meaningless. Most times I hear it used however people are talking about getting the most out of a class.
Hard to play means that if you don’t know the class you’ll just die (good example is low level ele when you aren’t familiar with attunement swapping), something like Dark/Demon’s Souls. Hard to master is more getting the absolute best out of something. Like playing tetris, it’s easy to get the hang of, but mastering it? Ridiculously hard.
And out of curiosity, which build was it Daphoenix discovered again?
d/d elementalists: the only class that can rush into a zerg get focus fired at and still come back out alive.
This.
And if the ele can do that, it won’t kill a single thing in that zerg before being forced to retreat. So what’s the problem? Thieves can do pretty much the same thing with stealth, except you can’t see which direction they ran off to.
Yep, severely, just about given up on making my Bifrost, not only because of bad drops but i cannot find anyone wanting to do Arah runs to get the necessary tokens. I mean i spent a whole evening playing in CS last night, trying to find a group and not 1 lfg for Arah in all that time, nor did i get any response to mine.
I’ve spent most of my playtime in Frostgorge over the past few months but only began seriously farming for t6 mats in the last month or 2. i get an odd pce here and there, some more than others, but 3 i get virtually none of is elaborate totems, armored scales and crystalline dust.
I hate grawls due to their insane respawn rate….which is probably good for farming but i’m sick of the mobbing. I mean i kill one, his body is still falling down and another pops up right under him. But this is true also for bears there as well, but not as bad as grawls. So i kill maybe 50-60 grawls and i’ll be lucky to get 1 or 2 totems, sometimes none. its very frustrating to say the least and very time consuming for no results.I wonder what happened to fun in gw2 that i used to feel in gw1 where i never felt unrewarded for my efforts?
http://www.gw2lfg.com/ is your friend. You’ll get a group for almost anything pretty quick there. I’ve never had to wait more than 5 min for anything I want to do. And I’m working on Bifrost too, though I did the Arah runs shortly after release.
Mobility is our main form of survivability. We can’t really take a hit to that without getting either a damage, toughness or healing boost to compensate. If we can’t move around to avoid damage we are sitting ducks since we don’t have the stealth from thieves or the area denial + mitigation tools of the guardian.
I don’t really care what weapons are, so long as the implementation of the weapon is enjoyable. That said, I think shortbow, axe, hammer and greatsword are all out due to conjured weapons.
Sword could be fun for a more single-target oriented melee spec.
If you truly are skilled you should be happy that it matches you against people that should be challenging to fight instead of someone you stand no chance of beating or will just faceroll. PvP is not about rewards, it’s about fun and challenging yourself against equal/better opposition.
Relax ele players relax..the worst thing is that they destroy the 0/x/x/30/30 build and we wait a month before the rest of the community realises eles are garbage besides that and then they start buffing..
Unfortunatly now situation is tough and you see people even high on leaderboards demanding things that are utterly stupid and could really break the class..
Point is that ele atually NEEDS BUFFS and a lot of em..But imagine what would happen ifd they started buffing right now with the dominane of cantrips ele meta.
People would head over anets offices with their torches :PThey don’t deal as much damage overall as you might think. Ok, I take that back, I’ve been hit for 6k firegrabs by eles in valk ammys. They’re good at everything.
You mistake 20 air builds like phantarams with the cantrips ele :P
Cantrips ele even on valkyies needs 20+ stack of might and multipliers to crit for that much firegrab on a rabid using engie.Just saying..You are right they can do everything but you seem to mix clerics cantrips ele, valkyries cantrips ele and valkyries with arcanes there..Plus no prot or regen at all pretty much means 13 k =13k hp.
But the aoe component could go i guess.
Just saying what i know here and nothing more
They could buff high fire/air traits (or even low fire). That wouldn’t affect the bunkers people complain about. Then again, 30/25/5/0/10 is actually a rather strong build as well. It’s the build I ran before I took a break from the game, came back and scored 400 points in one of my first games with it.
Back in time, Eles used to be considered one of the UP class, but right now, it is being called Op, with no significant Buff and Constant nerf, I wonder what makes the difference?
People didn’t know the class. I’ve been playing D/D ele since BWE1 and it’s always been good. Most people just didn’t know how to play it and were using it wrong (I’m probably still using it wrong myself running a 30/30/0/0/10 build). Once people realized the power of playing a more defensive ele the other classes just didn’t know how to respond to what used to be free kills showing some bite instead of just barking. This leads to cries of OP from people who don’t know the class and get burned down fast by a GC D/D like myself and then find himself unable to the same to a bunker D/D and assume that they are the same spec because they both use D/D. People need to learn that we’re not all 1 spec just because we’re D/D, but that seems to be too much to ask of some people.
The ignorance in this game is absolutely hilarious.
-D/D Elementalists are glass burst-
- They have a higher burst than Thief. And it’s AoE.
- Yet they have the survivability of a bunker Guardian
- They have better mobility than a Thief
- They have stronger conditions than a Necromancer.
- They have 4 weapon switches on short cooldowns
- They have the best condition cleanses in the game. And they’re AoE.
- They have the best healing in the game.
It’s OP as hell on paper, and OP as hell ingame.
If we are the jack of all trades, then the Elementalist is the master of everything. Don’t flaunt about your nonexistent knowledge of Necro or Warrior, I play every class and know how each class handles. Elementalist is irrefutably overpowered.
Nerfing Might across the board will accomplish kitten near nothing.
Can you show me the build/gear setup that has all of that? I’d love to see this 30/30/30/30/30 build. Hint: it doesn’t exist. As an ele I spec for either good damage OR survivability, not both. If I want that high aoe burst or condition damage, I will die faster than a porcelain vase knocked down from a table. If I want the high survivability my damage suffers to the point where Flame Grab hits for less than some basic spammable attacks from other classes.
I won’t deny that ele is strong right now, but to claim that we have OP damage, survivability and healing all in the same spec just shows how delusional you are. If you want something about eles changed come up with specific and constructive changes you would like to see, not just kittening that it’s OP.
I really like the Warden and Priory daggers. Using one of each atm.
I kinda want the fused dagger as well for the fire + ice theme Graybes mentioned.
I wouldn’t know about staff. I don’t solo or small man with that weapon out.
People actually roam with staff??!
Judging by the sheer amount of people complaining about how weak staff is, I have to assume they do.
Aye. I think the only time you catch a staffer is when his running to meet zerg mates
Or if they’re desperate for ranged combat.
Staff can be pretty good for small-scale wvw if you manage to kite and have some high ground to force melee disconnects. Though I generally much prefer D/D.
If a game ends in a tie, then it looks at the total player scores for the teams.
So in the above example, the red team had a higher player score total than the blue team, so red won.
that’s a really bad system
How is it a bad system? Ties are not an acceptable end result in tournaments. And so you need a way to determine a winner. Looking at total team score or even highest individual score is a simple and elegant way of breaking ties. Extending time and/or increasing point cap is much more work and makes for a more cumbersome system.
I just want to bump this up and ask, has anyone been even CLOSE to completing any one of the achievements under WvW. I mean i’ve been playing since release and I’ve got 1k+ wvw kills playing casually. I imagine more hardcore players are probably at least 20x my amount… so lets say 20,000 kills/250,000 is still another 6 years before anyone gets the killing achievement? Likewise with everything else. Anet really wanted to make these achievements as close to impossible as possible eh.
Red Guard guild leader has around 170k kills.
Are you sure that it is not 17k not 170k… that is like 1k kills per day, 83 kills per hour given he plays 12 hours. and 2 kills per minute. It’s almost like a factory process line of players lining up to get massacred by this guild leader lol.
No, it is 170k. I am certain Red Guard is the best wvw guild in the game. It’s what comes of being in WvW almost every night. 1k kills a night is totally achievable on the servers I’ve played on so far (from T5-T1). It’s just a matter of knowing where the enemy is and defeating them.
Kitten. Which one am I missing? Warriors can enter but generally die soon after. Plus they can be killed while in Vengeance.
They don’t always die soon after…… and if the get up and through a portal where nobody is hitting them. Sure you can immobilize him like an ele
Of course a downed ele doesn’t have the option of getting back him and kicking your kitten in either. Heh
If a Warrior runs in without killing anything he’ll just die when Vengeance wears off…?
And? He can still be ressed. It takes a few seconds longer than ressing the ele, but the end result is the same.
And yes, it is a teleport skill as it brings you from one place to other instantly. It doesn’t give swiftness, it takes you where you want to go in a flash. You can even cross gaps with it – something that other teleport skills can’t even do.
pls don’t distract the discussion with pointlessly wrong assertions
rtl should be affected by slows like all gap closers.
the end.You are a pointlessly wrong assertion.
I was replying to that guy’s comment as I’m allowed to. And I’m the OP, so chill the kitten out.
Being the OP has no relevance.
RTL is not a teleport. It’s a charge. And since all other charges are allowed with the orb, so should RTL. You saying it is a teleport does not make it so. Teleports by their very nature are instant, RTL is not. Lightning Flash is, and rightly drops the orb. Your assertion was wrong, deal with it.
You are the enemy.
Your name is red.
You do not deserve to live.
Therefore I will end your life.
100 events
100 veterans
40 green or higher items crafted
4 dailies
Really easy monthly.
Can you do it with cooking? level 80 food?
Not aware of any cooking recipes being green or higher apart from the Gifts.
I somewhat agree with this. If a map is full, players who have the server as their home server should get priority over guesting players. Though I’m not sure about kicking people out of a full map, guests should definitely be at the back of the queue to leave an overflow.
It’s the skin from Ascalonian Catacombs. All weapons from there have a visual effect at night only.
well it is night right now but it still doesnt glow?? is there a specific hour for that?
In game night. Day/Night cycles are specified per zone (some like AC are permanently Night). You could try something like /time to see if it gives you ingame time.
OP is a bit myopic. If I had to guess, I’d say the dev team wants bunkers and glass cannons to be the outliers on a bell curve, and “balanced” builds to predominate.
I’m not saying these “balanced” builds exist yet, but it is a smart and reasonable aspiration for the dev team, given that too much bunker and glass cannon results in shallow play.
In that case they should make those “balanced” builds available before nerfing the existing ones.
It’s the skin from Ascalonian Catacombs. All weapons from there have a visual effect at night only.
Frost Aura got a buff, it didn’t have any dmg reduction component before 2.2 afaik.
For the orange swords:
Could also mean 25 people combined. If 2 13 man groups bump into each other, that could trigger it, too.
That is how it will work yes. The current limit is 6 players/creatures, whether that be 1v5, 2v4 or 3v3 or 2v2v2 etc
shorten Fire Field + Blast finisher duration (20 sec in my opinion is much too long and allows a full bunker build to also deal respectable amounts of damage. I’ve seen D/D eles been able to get to 25 might stacks on their own)
fire field lasts 6 sec and has 2 sources of damage: burst damage is applied on skill activation. burning is applied when you cross the borders of the radius.
I dont see any problem with the current duration. 6 secs is not that long. If you want to leave the ring earlier, you have to eat that burning.
And blast finishers are the same for any profession in the entire game. Why should might stacking work differently for eles? Sounds not fair.
Besides: 25 might stacks self buffed is bogus for ele. Its not possible. Earth blast finishers are on 30/45s cooldown. Earth dodge roll blast finisher is possible at most every 15s. Sigil of Battle is on 9s cooldown. Fire Attunement gives 1 might at most every 9s. Did I forgot anything?
He was talking about the might stacks that are applied from blasting a fire field. I thoroughly disagree with that.
On the other hand … it might just have been OP’s fault for accepting the invite? Did anyone think in that direction?
It kicks you when the invite is sent, you don’t have to accept it.
I just identify them. I have about 300 colours unlocked on my main. Any duplicates I either give to alts/guildies or sell.
I guess I’m in the minority, but I didn’t have any problems with Trahearne:
- How does us helping Trahearne equate to him ‘stealing’ our personal story? It’s not like once the pact is formed we’re just watching him do missions.
He takes our achievements and what we come up with and presents them as his own (Fort Trinity anyone?). He quite literally steals our story.
As the others have said, just use Master kits on rares. I only use the BL kit on exotics that have runes/sigils that sell for more than the item itself (or close to the value of the item).
And yeah, you just had some bad luck. Think the worst streak I’ve had is 10 rares with nothing.
Afaik 80. Though there is a cap on AR that effectively means that the cap is a bit lower (50ish I think) until more AR is available.
If you want them to stack as in 33% + 25% = 58%, then no, that wouldn’t be right.
If you mean just time stacking, then I haven’t noticed a problem with Swiftness stacking myself. As far as I know, there aren’t any classes that get a speed boost higher than 33% ever.
Thieves get 50% in stealth
Why? In long story, GW2 Dungeons are always horribly bad because their level of difficulty is next to impossible
Please, don’t make me laugh. Dungeons in this game are ridiculously easy. The only fights I have ever consistently wiped on during my first few runs were Lupi and Dwayna in Arah. EVERY other boss I have killed on the first try without knowing any tactics beforehand. If this is “next to impossible” in difficulty, I do not want to know what you consider acceptable. I can remember other games where you would spend weeks trying to kill just one of the bosses in a dungeon. Games where it took months before anyone had completed the hardest instances, where it took weeks from hitting level cap until you would even considering doing more than the easiest dungeons (which were about as hard as Arah at the easiest). Please give us dungeons like the Tomb of the Vulture Lord from WAR, Hammerknell/Infernal Dawn from Rift, or anything that is actually challenging pve content.
I don’t know the Subject Alpha encounter, so perhaps there the group is constrained to a very small area when fighting?
No the problem with the alpha fight is about every 5 – 10 seconds he will put a circle around every player regardless of where they standing , and if your anything less than tanky it will generally one shot you . if you are in mele range of this boss he will not use his aoe circles on you only another couple making people downing in mele range of you/boss easy to pickup , anything else is suicidal at least
Alternatively, everybody can casually walk out of the circles and keep on hitting the boss with whatever they like. That kinda works too.
Yea, only problem of this approach is, if you fail once u get downed. Some else who is not close to you have to run to you to ress you. In the time he needs to reach you, you already have another AoE above you so u’re probably dead (or if he insist on ressing ya, he gets downed too). Same goes for prisons, if group is spread, everyone just wastes so much precious time to run to prison and then smash it (sure, range specced characters can break it from distance, but you don’t meet many ranged specced toons.
Above said can be negated if everyone stays in close range of SA doing whatever they usually do. AoEs / Cleaves break prisons fast. No prob ressing, because everbody is in ress range.
It’s a huge fiery thing hanging above you for a few seconds, it’s not hard to move out of. Subject Alpha is not a hard fight in any possible definition of the word, whether you do it ranged or melee.
There are more ways coming for acquiring laurels. For example through other achievements (these should be awarded retroactively afaik).
Skill 3 should be available instantly imo, when 1vs1 for ex and you get downed skill 3 is in instant cd,you can do skill 2 one time to interrupt him trying to fnish, and usually there isnt enough time to even use skill 3.If we are bound to die anyways ( like it happens 99% of the time when rallying ) Atleast let us rally right away after being downed to make it seem like downed state isnt completely broken and useless for a warrior.
That would be way too OP. If you could vengeance straight away it would have a lot shorter duration and probably not allow stomping.
Always funny to see these kinds of posts. It’s invariably the scrubs that don’t know how to play that make them as well. In all my time doing CoE I don’t think I’ve seen a single person have to run back more than once per encounter with Subject Alpha, with the vast majority (80%+) with no deaths at all, maybe 1 or 2 downed. And in CoF it’s always the zerker warriors that die because they don’t have the brains to move from damage. In fractals I almost groan if I see more than 1 warrior, as I know this is going to be a run full of deaths. Gief a guardian, and the rest thieves/necros/eles and I’ll be a happy bunny.
So enjoy your heavy only groups, I’ll be doing much better with a more mixed group.
I’ve gotten more trash drops, less chest drops. Chalking this one down to RNG for now. Either way I’ve gotten more rares per run now than I did pre-patch, so I’m not complaining.
Are there rings with utility slots? I thought only the amulets had that so far.
Now it’s just a weaker version of thief/mesmer downed states. At least with those the enemy can’t see and follow you immediately. Now it needs another 2s duration at least to be on par with thief/mesmer.
I’m pretty sure it’s a FIFO set up. If it isn’t it’s just random.
Are you saying that drops were better only for 1 day or a few hours?
If that’s the case, they obviously never intended to increase the base drop in addition to the moldy bags, get over it.
“Various Risen creatures have had their loot tables updated to provide more varied crafting materials.”
From the 28th patch notes.
It’s clear that it was intended, at least initially.
And in response to Tosha, no, I do not expect legendaries to just be “handed” to people. There’s plenty of difficult things to obtain, such as the specific gifts and the precursor.
However, as someone who cannot play every day, or for extremely long periods of time, my hopes were raised when T6 mats started dropping more frequently. It was actually the thing that inspired me to work on my legendary again, because I had previously given up.
However, after farming for a while today, the drops seem almost no different than they were pre-28th-patch.
If anything, it’s just disheartening.
More varied, not in higher volume. I’ve gotten Vicious Fangs from the mobs at the Penitent defense today. Can’t recall ever getting that before (maybe in Moldy Bags, but certainly not from the mob itself).
Aren’t “unidentified objects” just loot that can be ID’d with a tool that may be released later on?
No, they’re just vendor trash.
I thought you could only have 10 mail at a time?
I have never hit a limit, though I do clear them out.
I’m guessing the hint achievement is still bugged as I’ve had 40+ in there and still not had the hint show up.
It’s only player/bltc mail. Hearts and exploration mail does not count.
There is exactly TWO (major) problem with fractals currently.
1) People believe they need to be able to do them successfully.
and
2) There is gear that is not merely cosmetic and (currently) not available elsewhere which promotes the idea they need to be able to complete the fractals at high levels.Fractals is, and should remain, focused on providing something for players who WANT to do an extremely challenging instanced PvE activity that requires a solid group with good coordination.
The complaint about not being able to complete fractals 20+ with a PuG is silly. It’s not meant for PuGs. That’s really all there is to it.
Actually, your wrong ~ it was. Everything in this game was/is and always has been created for the casual players. I think the problem is here, especially it seems to me there is just alot of newer posters who haven’t been around here since the very start, and in fact way ‘before’ launch.
The casual player makes up way more of the playerbase than the current hardcore players, the problem is ~ most of the current playerbase who hasn’t quit are the hardcore/elitist base who want a much more controlled game (in their favor)
This is one of the major reasons I have problems with elitist players, they tend to ruin MMos in general – often using entitlement against players, when its really the opposite – its more like, I have this (insert item/title/shiny) and you don’t… so its more like egoism. The problem is in the MMo world, there just isn’t enough of humble players, whether its a casual or a hardcore player.
Are you saying casual players are supposed to be able to do fractals at 50+? Or even 30? I call BS on that.
Nerf Warrios, Buff Hunters
You just lost all credibility there, mate. Not only are Warriors undeserving of nerfs at this present time, but Hunters don’t even exist as a class in GW2.
Warriors are the best PvE dps by a kittening mile. If they’re not deserving of a nerf every other class needs a major buff to pve dps.
For me it has been a bit of a gamble if I die or not. I think it varies a bit with where you fall, some places will kill you, others not.
