Its horrible to wake up and see all your work demolished in a few hours of sleep.Not only that, but by the time you wake up you fight an uphill battle versus keeps / Towers that are Tier 3 upgraded and have 40 arrows charts / Catapults / Balista’s not to mention the walls inside every Borderlands (except Eternal) are forts on their own.
Suply camps can be captured 24/7 offcourse.
As of now i have no interest to play WvW anymore and it seems many people who bought GW2 for the sole reason to WvW are already done with it.
Waking up and seeing the pie 100% sliced for 1 faction has totaly ruined any sence of progresion.
Not to mention you cannot make the gap smaller as each night the night hero’s make a 40/50k lead in points if not more.Iam willing to pay 10 gold for that immunity buff btw, a guild who claims a keep need to invest in it.

I have no issues making a profit in WvW, even with repair costs. Drops + money is enough to easily cover it and net me a hefty profit.
I managed to get 500 salvages just doing general farming in Orr.
By the way, I’m a level 80 and the reward I got for my monthlies was 52 copper, 7k experience and 20 mystic coins
The last part was nice, but the first two parts felt…pretty underwhelming.
Wow… What’s the point of even having an experience reward if they’re going to give a level 80 7k experience.
You get a more substantial xp reward for every partial completion of the monthly. I think it’s 10% of a level for finishing each of the parts and a bit less for the lower tiers of each part.
I’ve salvaged maybe 2k items since release (done monthly 3 times since I got it reset last week and done tons more). If you are just leveling you get quite a lot and wvw gives ridiculous amounts of loot if you’re killing stuff, I’ve had guildies go through 2 mystic salvage kits (250 uses) in a DAY of wvw.
But it’s by no means something you have to do, it’s only 20 mystic coins.

Why should you be forced to sweep for mesmers? I mean the other stuff already is done automatically. Does it not repair the walls automatically or replace the keep lord with your own lord? Maybe this should be changed too then. Clean up and rebuild everything by yourself and buy your keeplord for a few gold first.
It’s clearly an exploit because the developers did not want the portal to be used that way. Or is there a description that says “can be used to bypass walls in WvW”. I don’t think so. They just did not think of a single person being able to to that much harm because 1 person hiding probably can’t kill the keep lord. That’s why they just ignored the possibility of someone hiding there.
And forgot about the mesmer and that some people might exploit this. Happens often. This game is still at the beginning and they have a lot work to do. Other areas showed it where a lot of bugs happend. So why not here. Do you really think they thought of this while developing and including this skill? Please don’t be silly. Then they should not have banned people producing chilli peppers with karma stuff… because if mesmers are allowed to port in a keep then this should have been allowed too.
Yes of course, making infinite gold from karma is equal to a class using their utility skills in intended ways. . .
Your primetime is not my primetime. On US servers you have 3 hours difference between the East Coast and West Coast, and a further few hours difference over to Australia/NZ. In EU we have mainland EU with +-1 hour and Russia (which spans 10 timezones though the majority is probably within 4/5 hours of the rest of Europe). Which one should we designate as primetime for each region?

Well, I don’t know about the other stuff outside where there are no walls. But getting into a keep should not be possible. I know Warhammer Online there had been some skills. But here it is not possible in normal ways. And everyone trying to bypass the walls with some glitches and then abusing skills to port other users there… I think 7-14 days ban should be possible without a warning(remember they already banned for less). Report if you see somone abusing like this.
Don’t know about the jumping puzzle. If you are supposed to do the puzzle to get somewhere then it is exploting too.
Why do they even need that skill? I checked wiki and it seems it is only a few seconds duration? Seems pretty useless to me other than trying to exploit something with it.
I think the skill should be removed completely. Give them something else instead.
It is a massively useful skill for organised play in WvW. I won’t give out exact strategies for how to use it, but it should be pretty obvious if you have done any wvw with a decent guild.
Portals are a perfectly valid tactic in both Keep takes and puzzles.

if you want to make an e-sport.I LOL so hard at this. If that were the case, it would be completely horrible. Certain classes are complete crap without traits. Honestly why have different classes at all if that were the case. What you basically saying with that statement is, everybody play one class with the exact same abilities and let skill decide the answer. That is not even right considering the cooldowns on some classes compared to others, and this is a CD vs CD based game.
I think what he’s saying is that you can’t change anything after the tournament starts, which is a fair point. You should build your char to be able to do well on all 3 maps, not swap specs/weapons between maps or even characters.

Ruin was the world #1 warhammer guild, crushed the 7:1 horde population of kil’jaeden and beat dara mactire so hard that they left the guild to die in the hands of a 40 year old racist who literally lived in his mother’s basement.
at its core, while i may play politician, ruin is largely a cruel and evil organization. that said most of us are not above helping the enemy to get a decent match, hence why i have been trolling the forums.
after saying that, let me reiterate, “RUIN IS EVIL, but we play by the rules” we dont cross realm, we dont actively attempt to undermine your servers ability to fight. we do recruit and we will name/shame those who use exploits/hacks those who try and use them.
I’m assuming you meant top US WAR guild. There are several EU guilds who would take great offense if you claim to be the best in the world.
5 min is to allow people who may be afk time to enter the match and to discuss strategy when you can actually see the setup the enemy is using. After all, the strategy against a heavily offensive team (multiple thieves/eles/wars) won’t be the same as against a heavily defensive team (guardians/necros/engis). I feel it is just fine the way it is.

Ele isn’t weak, but it is harder to play than other classes. I play full MF gear and the damage numbers are still pretty good, though I die in 2 hits from bosses.
Then why don’t you hold on to it, or price it lower to begin with?

OP, go do WvW jumping puzzle. In borderlands it’s easy. Usually takes 10-15 min if there are no griefers and it rewards you with 3 blue/green items, 4-5 WvW tokens and 2 random siege blueprints. My elementalist is packin’ insane amount of siege overall and 5 golems so far just from that. So – less QQ more SPACEBAR SPACEBAR (for jumping, you get it?)!
Please don’t do this when your server has a queue!

Do you not benefit from the server bonuses that WvW provides? I suppose what I’m asking (since as you yourself stated you don’t want o be ofrced to pay) how does it feel to benefit from other peoples hard work/gold contribution?
That is a good point, and supports my earlier argument that the tax system should apply to every zone, not just WvW (but still not cover sales to vendor or on TP).

WvW is a 24 hour WAR, if you can’t hold your own against an opponent at all hours you don’t deserve the win.
are u lissening to yourself? so u are basically saying that everyone have to be awake 24 hours a day skip job/school because u want to keep the game competetive? its a game/sport that many want to win. Not a real war.
Not everyone has school/work every day and I’m not saying anyone should skip it, what I’m saying is that you need a presence at all times of day if you want to be the top server, but that is really besides the point as there is not a significant number of French-Canadians on VS. It is actual French people who care enough about winning to stay up late, just like you are doing right now (except you are writing here instead of playing).

Yes please. Make it a guild upgrade that allows the guild to set a tax that is paid to the guild vault (and allow upgrades to be paid from the guild vault for a claimed structure if it is not already). This tax should cover money drops from mobs/players as well as DE money rewards, but not sales on the TP or to vendor and be in effect everywhere while representing the guild. Used to run 50% guild tax in WAR to cover constant upgrading and defence of keeps, really miss that here as right now the entire upgrade bill is footed by a few players and some small donations from others.
Can you guys stop whining about this already? Accept that they have more dedicated players than you and move on. All this whining about VS is getting really tiresome.

I would also like to see a cooldown on the portals … defenders can run in-and-out too often, which tips the balance heavily. If they run outside, they shouldn’t be able to re-enter if they have used the portal in the past 30 seconds.
Then no one would ever go out unless it was a serious push and/or use mesmer portals to get in/out.
As for gate/wall repair, I agree that it should not pop back up when it gets 1HP, it should pop up when it reaches 15-20%
Well you could always just GASP not swap your attunements out of combat!! like if it’s really that big of a deal for you to get your windborn speed just swap to air attunement before combat is over, problem solved!
Because Air is always off cooldown during combat.
We have boycotted WvW this week until ET are out of this bracket, whoever is in charge of putting them down there needs a serious talking to.
Even if the rumors are true that ET threw some games to get dropped a bracket, whoever is in charge of matching them up should have half a brain to realise that they are one of the top ranked servers not down in this bracket.
Way to go on ruining WvW for 3 servers for a week
I know how bad it sucks getting matched up with one of the mega servers, but what is Anet supposed to do? There’s 4 servers that match up fairly well with each other, so what happens with the 4th? They sit out for a week until they can play in the top tier again so other servers don’t have to face them?

Much has changed in the 2 or 3 matchups since that was posted.
Your gear is boosted to similar quality gear for lvl 80. So if you’re wearing blue gear a few levels below you that won’t be too good compared to wearing greens or yellow gear closer to your level. And of course you’ll lack traits and skill slots which also puts you behind. That’s not to say you can’t be useful, but you should not be running around alone.
Zyzoxing, I don’t think it’s weighted by how much you win by, it’s weighted by which bracket you are in. The top bracket is weighted more heavily than the bottom bracket, though not that much more than the 2nd bracket as a win in the 2nd bracket seems to count for a bit more than 2nd place in the top bracket (as evidenced by the servers swapping between top/2nd bracket each matchup being placed about equal to the server placing consistently number 2 in the top bracket).
Testing purposes. It deals static damage so you can test things against the training dummies without worrying about rng from the damage range of the weapon.
What, Xonal? Are you kidding, right? In league matches a win yields exactly the same number of points no matter who you’re up against. Look at football, but even basket works in the same way, and most of the other sports as well.
This is not a league system. It’s a ranked system where the servers are matched to be about equal in rank. So the servers fighting in the top bracket (even the losing ones) are servers that would crush a server in the bottom bracket, so they are naturally weighted differently. You will never see Henge of Denravi fight one of the bottom servers such as Kaineng, because the matchmaking system won’t allow such an imbalanced fight.
So, can anyone give a straightforward reason why we shouldn’t be allowed to stick with a group of no more than 3 players in hot join games? The common answers are not compelling. This entire thread I’ve only heard: A. Because we don’t want pubstomping. B. Because some of us already deal with it well enough. and C. Because Tournaments.
A. I agree. I wholeheartedly agree. At all costs, we should avoid allowing players to pubstomp. But it is reasonable to assume three (or two) players will not carry a game. More importantly, it is unreasonable to assume that 3 players on a team of 8 will pubstomp each and every game in sequence. That’s ridiculous. Even if they win more games overall, it does not mean they won in such a way that ruined the fun for the other team. And it’s not as if we’ve eliminated stomping as is; the team scrambler already stacks teams now and then, so that games are entirely thrown to one side. Allowing 2-3 man groups, in all likelihood, will not change the status quo.
It will, when I play my elementalist on the same server as one of the guardians in my guild we have never lost a game when we get put on the same side. 1 good player can tip the balance on any map, 2 good players who communicate with each other on vent/ts/mumble is going to crush any opponents who do not have 2 players on voice comm together. To give you one example, he was defending the clock tower on Kyhlo while I was manning the treb. Whenever he was under attack he would call for assistance and I pelted the area with rocks. He held the point alone with only my little support for the entire game, against as much as 4 or 5 opponents. He was occasionally downed, but I managed to get a kill with the treb every time to bring him back up again. 2 people working together is an insane advantage and should not be possible to guarantee.
Tornado is also one you should grab for underwater combat. It’s actually pretty good, though on land it’s nothing special.
Like the person above me said, if the keep was recently taken there could still be enemies inside. If the keep had been yours for quite a while, however, this is sounding a bit more like an exploit.
I’ve defended quite a few keeps and towers and honestly I’ve never had a problem with meteor shower taking out my arrow carts. The only thing that has really killed my arrow carts has been retaliation. Then again, my guild knows how to defend properly, even against zergs.
And Meteor Shower is not bugged. It works on exactly the same principles as any other ground target AOE spells, only difference being that it has a slightly larger radius than most.
Just hit 15k WvW kills. Really noone with more than that? :-/
I hope you realize that kill count means absolutely nothing. What it does indicate is that you enjoy massive zerg fights and are capable of using AoEs.
One would assume so due to the massive handholding contest in this game.
It means something to me, since I only play WvW in the evenings.
90% of the kills have been outnumbered or in even fights and only running in guild groups. Also with nothing to gain from endgame apart from server pride(500+ spare badges and 300k karma)
I like to keep track of getting 1k kills farming the zergs in the evenings.

I did state that AOE’s in general are bad because they do bleed through the wall. Sure you can place the AOE on the wall but it seems that the damage it does is spherical and is not properly blocked by obstructions. Arrowcarts placed in fortifications should be very difficult to destroy, and it should take other siege weapons deployed to do so. You can’t just have a group of people build up a fort, place siege weapons down, have them fully and properly manned, and then have another group of 10-15 people waltz in and spam AOE on the walls, and tap on a gate until it’s down so that they can flood the fort. You defeat the whole purpose of the fort when you do that. Forts are there to defend an area, and it should always involve siege weapons to take one over. I have often thought that the walls need to be wider so that siege weapons can have some sort of buffer zone. Either way I target Meteor Shower, and elementalists because these seem to be the majority of those abusing AOE’s on walls. I can assure you that spherical damage going through walls is not intended, and should be fixed.
Let’s see, Meteor Shower sends meteors down from ABOVE, and you place the center of the aoe where you wish. So if I place it on the edge of the wall, about half the meteors will come down on top of the wall, there is no obstruction there since the meteors are not coming directly from me.
I was having a blast on Northern Shiverpeaks WvWvW in the Eternal Battlegrounds. Then, at one point, I realize that we are missing about 75% of our team. After a bit of looking I find that they are all fighting this worm. Nobody would leave it, the enemy team took the supply camp right NEXT to the worm and nobody even cared, and we lost a lot on that server. What makes it all worse is that after helping them kill it (at that point I had decided to help them finish it as fast as we could because we didn’t stand a chance w/o this huge group of players) all I got were 3 badges of honor…………. 3……. It took us 30 minutes…….. Just take it out please.
Right now NS has very little structure due to these free server transfers and a previously high queue time and so it is hard to communicate with all of these random people and convince them that that objective isn’t helpful.
So by your own admission, your server has massively outvoted you on if the worm should be in or not….
Re read your post, you are effectively saying your opinion on how to play is more important than 75% of the other players on the map……unless you bought everyone their account you dont get to make that decision. The only measure of whats important is what people do when givena free choice, in this case, the choose to fight the worm, that seams pretty clear cut to me, the worm stays.
All opinions are not equal. Some are just plain stupid, like attacking the Grub when it means losing other important objectives. So yes, his opinion is more important than the idiots deciding to go for the grub.

Sure its different. With the traps there is nothing you can do to stop it. With the guy sitting behind the waterfall, you can kill him. One is pvp, the other is griefing. Big difference.
Bottom line, if the people can’t do anything about it within a reasonable amount of time, then it shouldn’t happen. Like you shouldn’t be able to just sit on the trap platform and just kill people without them having any chance to do anything about it. If there was a cooldown, then yea they can get you once with each trap, but you have enough time to get over to the platform and make them pay for it. Thats pvp.

Yes, it’s still idiotic. You have to wait for another group to pick the ONE server you picked out of over 200 (that’s less than 0.5% chance) and hope that there’s still enough room for both groups.
You don’t need to actually wear normal MF gear, just grab a 6 Superior Runes of the Pirate. That’s 50% MF + chance to gain might and a bird that can solo any regular mob in Orr (or 5 + 1 Traveler if you just want lots of MF).
It’s in a pvp zone, the traps are there for a reason, and anything else is fair game as well. It’s really no different from people camping just behind the waterfall in the borderlands puzzles.
Where would the servers be hosted? If it was in NA, EU players would be at a disadvantage due to lag, and vice versa if it’s hosted in EU.

And no Meteor shower doesn’t do any damage at all. It tickles compared to what everything other classes have.PvE-wise elementalist are fine because monsters are useless standing still which makes our very slow and very delayed ability actually hit them.

I have no issues finding groups for anything I feel like as an elementalist, be it tournaments, dungeons or wvw. Maybe my server just doesn’t listen to the general crybabies saying that eles are useless.
I want to que up with friends and do a few battle Grounds. Why wont it let us? It really needs to be fixed. Yes i know SPVP but we are just wanting to relax and have fun. This needs to be fixed!
You can play with your friends via tournaments. We will continue as well to improve the ability to play with friends in pickup games, but it will always be somewhat limited because we do not want large groups of guilds pub stomping the pick up games.
How about you make the matchmaking actually intelligent? If say a group of 4, a group of 3, and an individual are all queued then you could only match this group of 8 against another group of 4/3/1. You don’t HAVE to blindly place people in the match..

Fellstar is correct, the level of the item you wish to put the gem in must also match the level of the gem, not just you.

This has been said multiple times before, non-tournament spvp does not use any kind of matchmaking and CAN NOT use any with the current setup. This is because the players can themselves choose whichever server they want, completely nullifying any effect applying a matchmaking system to the “play now” button would have.
