We aren’t weak. One of the strongest skirmish professions in the game IMO. The real issue sPVP wise is bein stat limited. I run unconventional stat and build breakdown you can’t make in sPVP. It’s incredibly effective in WvW but when I want to sPVP I usually play something else bc I feel much less effective than my WvW Engi build.

You cannot compare us to a thief or war. They should do more outright DPS, bc ill bounce them all around and CC them to death and back as is. If I could do that + burst as hard as them would be stupid.

All the Engi needs are bug fixes. Those who think the profession is weak should be playing something else. Engi is far from weak.

I run a very unconventional build and focus on being a great skirmish fighter since I think it’s our strongest role. I absolutely LOVE my Engi in WvW. I’ve been 80 since the weekend after launch day and I have one alt that is lvl 15. That’s how much I play and love my Engi, and all I do is WvW.

Last night we took the north supply on enemy BL with a 5 man. We held it for over 1.5 hours with just the 5 of us. 2 ballista, me and 2 thieves wrecking everyone. That didn’t feel useless at all.

Be more creative, think outside the box…or just reroll if the profession doesn’t suit you. I love mine though and I feel VERY effective.

You can be creative! I was sick of being pigeon holed to grenades…I went on a quest to make a very unconventional build that would excel at all open field skirmish fights. I focus on yaks, sentries, supply camps, cutting enemy reinforcements, etc…nades are not needed for this.

I wont post mine, but I just want to assure all the would be Engis that you don’t have to just use rifle and nades or reroll. There are very creative extremely fun builds you can make if you think outside the box. My new one is so much fun and so effective 2 Engis in my guild have already respecced and started buying the gear to try it out, so far they love it too. Nades aren’t on my bar.

I have recently been running a high crit, high crit damage p/s build. Don’t really wanna give all the details, but it has been incredibly effective in open skirmish fights. I don’t think I’ll ever go back, I love it.

I heard SBI spawn camped JQ while IoJ assaulted their keep on EB and took it (was fully upgraded too).

I’m proud of IoJ for never becoming the third place server that guns for #2. Consistently fried to push JQ down on PPT for the whole week after they took the big lead. Really shows in how much closer the match remained…close enough for SBI to stage an epic comeback.

WvW that’s exciting to the last day, in tier 1. That hasn’t happened yet in the week matches can’t wait to see if SBI can successfully take and hold lead or will JQ manage to just barely come out on top?!

They are ridiculous but you can counter it. Rather than tell you what I do since you’re likely not an engineer ill tell you the best way to learn to counter any profession.

Make one.

Make one and play itin sPVP until you don’t suck with it anymore. Pay attention to the things that screw you over and cause your death. Now you are prepared to come up with a game plan on how to counter one.

Go SBI! Keep it going! This is exciting!

SBI is looking like they may be able to catch up if they keep this up.

I just logged off with SBI at +410 and JQ on bottom of PPT.

I /laugh every time a gimmicky burst thief tries to gank me or an ally and I kill them. That’s really the only time I do it.

Now that you know its happening…prepare for it.

You need AOE CC abilities, blinds, damage. Skills that don’t require a target.

On my engineer I just drop a smoke bomb on the dolyak and then nade/bomb the kitten out of the area and the thief dies.

On the topic of dolyak escorting in this match…SBI is on their kitten. I’m a dolyak ganker 90% of the time and I have been having to recruit people to help me cause those kittens escort every kitten dolyak. lol

How to deal with stupid burst dagger thieves.

Drop blind.

Drop lots of AOE.

Pin downed thief when they unstealth or continue to drop AOE.

T1 is a whole new experience…I’ve never had such a hard time ganking dolyaks haha

The kitten bug where they warp 20 feet away doesn’t help though.

Bottom Line: The Island of Janthir seeks EU WvWvW guilds who enjoy the fight we are a server who never gives up, and have been crushed by tier 1’s since the game has launched. Janthir has been the one constant and at its core are pvp’ers and killers who love the battle more than anything. If you’re a EU wuvwuv guild thinking of moving..

We’ve been trying to tell you all the server isn’t as stacked as your doom and gloom members make it seem. If you’ve got EU coverage, push us in that time, it is our weakest. BG did the same thing to us each day last week during this time. You guys just chose to wait 3 days to do it lol

IoJ hasn’t claimed to be anything except a server full of people who fight win or lose. We like the struggle. We haven’t claimed to be anything more than that. We have large coverage gaps and aknowledge is, it doesn’t stop us from all fighting hard during the time we are on though. That’s what matters to us, the epic fights with our friends.

Not an RP server, just a lot of people with a lot of server pride on Janthir. I often see things shouted in /t like “For JANTHIR!” when making big pushes…its kinda cool.

Yeah Vixena that’s the thing you seem to mistake…IoJ is used to being stuck in 2nd or 3rd place. We were always the 5th ranked server meaning before all the alliance break ups and such, we always fought the t1 server that dropped to T2 and got dominated by them.

We never quit or transferred off though, we just try to fill our gaps, learn from the better servers, and fight hard while we are on while not worrying too much about total score.

If we move to t1 and lose to JQ week after week, it wont effect those of us that have been on the server now fighting while losing week after week. This is why I say it will just get rid of the bandwagoners who joined this week, they joined because we are stomping currently…not because of the community that is Janthir’s WvW community.

So many CD in here blaiming transfers for the loss…you guys were in the lead, we slowly but surely pushed and pushed until we overtook point lead, and we worked hard to hold it until we overtook score total. As soon as that happened your server started to quit.

Whether or not we got bandwagoners from CD and ET after that doesn’t matter, yall quitting and allowing the snowball to begin is what led to it all.

Now I can’t wait for us to go back to losing like we are used to so I can have some real kittening fights.

This match up is pretty awesome so far is all I have to say. Epic fights all over!

Lol @ everyone defending thief damage. It’s ridiculous and you all know it. Multiple abilities that hit way too hard and are easy to land. Not to mention you can steal your way into a Zerg, instakill someone, then disappear.

Most of the guys I know who play thief are always laughing on mumble about how ridiculous they are. Including myself.

I’m on Isle of Janthir, and my server went to a lake on a borderland and saw like 8 Eredon Terrace bots farming the lake. For a minute there we thought they were trying to get the quaggan event and were legit enemies, then we realized that when our 3 engineers nuked them with grenade kits and caused a huge bloody mess in the water with no resistance or effort to escape, that they were bots.

I don’t see anything wrong with killing the bots. It prevents them from farming, which is a public service. You got some badges for performing a public service, well deserved.

We had a 3 way battle at the garrison on BG borderlands in the SBI IoJ BG matchup also and I couldn’t see anyone most of the fight. Freaking ridiculous.

Lots of fun fights against LotD yesterday and today, this match up has been a ton of fun. (even if CD is making it very difficult for IoJ to keep it interesting for ET)

Sure, here you go…this is what I just logged in to. After 2 solid days of neck and neck scores and amazing fighting with ET. Looks like everyone just kittening gave up, no queue anywhere. Wtf. Really disappointed right now.

Nothing but respect for ET from myself. You guys are very coordinated and you’ve got some players that are ridiculous at using mortars and trebs for defense. We lost countless trebs yesterday trying to assault the hills in IoJ BL.

IoJ has come a a long way in a short time since our last match, but we’ve got a lot of work to do oeganizig our pugs before we are ready for the t1 guys.

That screenshot makes me sad tho, score hasn’t hit that lopsided since the match began.

More like sounds like someone bandwagoned onto a winning server and then got upset that also has a downside.

CD was ranked 59 points higher than DB going into last week’s matchup. That is how they stayed in t2 and DB fell.

According to the post Mike made in one of the threads today they are working on a bunch of WvW improvements, mostly code side…perhaps this is one of them.

Camping the jumping puzzle is a tactic, not griefing. Jumping puzzle = lots of siege, its tactical. Stopping the enemy from getting the siege is smart.

I don’t personally do this, because it would bore me. But there is definitely nothing wrong with it and I guarantee Anet will not ban people for doing it.

I was defending the bay tonight and we had not yet had any breaches of the outer walls, I was running from north to south across the top wall and jumped in the water on my way across.

I happened to land right behind a Fort Aspenwood mesmer, I saw a portal appear and then she disappeared. I went through the underwater gate inside and there she was. I killed her real quick, announced to team chat what was going on when all of a sudden a second mesmer pulled the same stunt and killed me while I was typing.

So there’s another exploit for your list Anet
