All I am trying to say here is warrior is in a good spot and once the meta in whole sways away from condi spam warriors are going to be wanted for teams. Like for example you run a s/d ele with warrior, the warrior can call the stun then ele gets all his burst and if ele goes 30 in air for shocking aura that will be insta gib on an enemy.
This works really well…but I believe something that can do pretty good burst while also boon stripping would be superior. Remove protection and stability from CC Warrior’s target = gg. S/D Thief and Shatter Mes come to mind.

So because I have some experience in game with this build and have watched many streams of sPvP and spectated on games that involve this build my opinion is invalid?
I never said something needs to change or that it is not OP. I only said what I thought it brought to the team and why I believe others see it as OP.

I dislike discussions because there are already several threads on this topic and I’ve seen A-net balance based on the whining of the forums before (Eviscerate, Bulls+Frenzy+100b anyone?) when the issue was simply people needing to L2P.

If it is so OP like you claim it is why don’t YOU use the build and duel everybody in sPvP duel arenas and see if you can beat everybody there.
Part of what makes this build overpowered is the use of lemongrass which doesn’t exist in sPvP.
Good thing WvW was never intended to be balanced, especially not when it comes to 1v1s.

This is probably all a side effect of how low the skill level of the game had become for a while. I see people just spamming their dodges, with no concern to what they are actually dodging, all the time. It’s hilarious how often I just skull crack someone right at the end of a dodge roll….because they dodged for no reason, instead of dodging when I try to stun them.

There are a plethora of threads clamoring for fewer on screen spell/skill effects and now people want more on-screen effects.
This must be an exercise in frustration for the devs.
Check my post and the video link with time stamp please. The old animation for Stability was just for your character to grow a bit bigger – it did not clutter the screen with any more particle effects.
Stability is probably THE most important boon to know if a target has but you can’t really see it. I can see protection go up, but not stability.

Sounds like a PvE’er walked into a PvP zone and got beaten by an experienced player. Then promptly went to the forums to complain about it.
Also, someone mentioned that Engineer has long cooldown stunbreaks. If you are having trouble against this build as an engi, you need to utilize your blinds, knockbacks, immobilizes, perma-vigor, blocks, and kiting better. (and your stunbreak cooldowns are comparable with other classes’ FYI)
AND Protection Injection: each time you’ll get bursted, you’ll cut the burst by 33%.
Or even by 53%, with Stabilized Armor.
And those traits are useful with EVERY kind of burst, not only the one from warriors.
Seriously, an Engi with Protection Injection and Stabilized Armor should be able to sit there and /laugh at you while they eat the full stun duration.
Not to mention Engineers have a bunch of other ways to avoid this (as mentioned by a poster above).
There’s even a trait with a 50% chance to blind attacker when hit with melee weapon. On only a 10 second ICD.

Well maybe they should patch in a bunch of utility stunbreakers for every class. Would be helpful if they did it before the stun warrior became Flavor of the Month.

I agree, there needs to be some kind of tell other than looking at the enemies list of boons.
Hell what if I want to try to stun someone without actually targeting them…since this is GW2 and I don’t have to have a target to use my skills and can just simply aim them?
Their whole philosophy with combat was looking at the action and visual cues, not looking at your UI. Stability is one of those things that forces me to stare at the UI.

Serious question: I hear much about mace / shield + sword / mace. I like the skills those weapons give, but why don’t we go with a control combination of mace / mace and a mobility / survival combination of sword / shield? I like mace / mace for style reasons and it went pretty well like this.

What needs to happen is disables need to work like GW1. Use a disable on someone who is already disabled, and it does nothing(except damage,etc). This way it promotes timing and awareness instead of spam.
I would be ok with this change, it should work the same for fears as well.
I believe fixing AOE condi spam and other bigger issues should be priority though.

You should just go read the patch notes from the last patch with the heal changes. It specifies the changes in +Healing power in relation to the heal changes.
Yes, Healing Surge definitely scales with healing power.
Yes, it makes regen scale higher.

Remove 1 sec on the Pommel and thats still essentially 7 secs of stun on an insanely low cooldown.
Well actually it would be 6 seconds of stun and 1 of daze (where you are free to move and dodge).
6 seconds of stun also implied they stack in duration, which also is not how it works as far as I know and have experienced in actually playing with Mace/Shield.
So if you were to skull crack too soon after the Shield Bash you just wasted some of your stun duration from the bash. If you don’t the person has time to dodge or react in some way between the 2 stuns.
This is nit picking, but it has to be done when people are coming in and claiming OMG 7 second stun! OP! nerf!
And the usual mentions, these are short range, single target, melee attacks. Avoid them.
I play an Engi, usually running no stun breaker, and I do just fine vs all the wannabe Warriors running around with Mace/Shield now thanks to a few “omg Warrior CC OP” threads.

The great thing about this thread is the amusement value. It’s incredible how many people post here without even checking the warrior wiki for information.
The bad thing is that you can smell the mace/unsuspecting foe nerf from a mile away….
I will quit so fast. There is absolutely no reason to nerf either. It will prove one thing to me though, which I am not going to mention here.

I have been looking at Defektive build runing m/sh + s/m..
But i wonder why not s/sh + m/m ??
Because:
Well to get 100% crit on Final thrust you will need unsuspected foe:
+15% stun on shield bash = 100% crit on final thrust.
And shield bash is on a very short distance, so with s/sh you can leap first > shield bash > final thrustIf you run sword/mace and do Tremor you dont get the extra 50%.. its a knockback.
Also i think its easier to mace/mace > Tremor > F1 stun = complete mace chain.
Just Mace F1 -> Switch Weapons -> dance for 2.5 seconds -> Final thrust and still get the 100% crit.
I prefer Mace Shield together because it concentrates my blocks and allows me to clearly define in my brain the defensive weapon set needed when I’m in a pinch.
This right here is why. Having your Mace and Shield on the same set concentrates your blocks onto one set and makes it the perfect set to sustain during the fight while you bait out the stun breaks and dodges so you can land your big stun. Or when you get focused hard, you know your Mace set is your defensive set and can provide you with 2 blocks.

Ill just stick with my rank one. This creates a new market of stuff to put on the gem store I sure hope they don’t end up making ones that out shine the rank ones because we work hard for those.
No matter how flashy they make ones you can buy…they still will only say “I bought this in the gem store”
You rank finisher says “I have kittened up a lot of people in PVP”
It will always be superior in my eyes.
Random side note – I love using my Tiger stomps in WvW. Rabbit finishers are great too!

I never dip down low into my HP numbers (you can see pic above, around 32k) unless the entire team has wiped so I thought I should mess with trading vitality for other stats.
So today I am experimenting with swapping my rings and earrings for knights.
Self buffed stats with no sigil stacks now look something like
3460 attack
43% crit chance
21% crit dmg
3409 armor
28k healthI am pretty excited to try this out later.
How exactly do you achieve these stats? <.<

Ok thx. First I thought you meant the buffs from killing npcs which give you 5 stacks power/health. But the critchance looked strange if only rings/earrings had been changed.
Yeah the ring/earring change netted me a solid 13% crit and more toughness. I’ve done some WvW with it, nothing crazy yet, but so far I’m very happy with the changes. Definitely consistently hitting quite a bit harder and don’t feel like I lost really any sustain.

2. Given an additional effect (without changing the 5s CD reduction) and moved to a Grandmaster minor trait. That way it would encourage a more utility/fast paced build.
How exactly are you calling our special class mechanic Adrenaline AND Burst skills like they are separate when Adrenaline = Burst skills. Looks like one mechanic to me.
You did the same exact thing to Necros.
Life force and Deathshroud are somehow two separate mechanics? No they aren’t, Life force = Deathshroud. There is no DS without Life force.
If anything the Necros secondary mechanic should be listed as Fear since they are the only profession able to perform multiple fears and spec into it.

There isn’t really anything you can do about it except not check the forums til you’ve watched it.
There’s plenty that can be done. Moderators can change subjects that have spoilers. Reddit has found ways to allow people to hide spoilers. Now that the heavy esports push has begun it’s kind of important that something be done about this, even if it is just having admin/mods watch out for thread titles that spoil results and change them.
Or you can be a responsible person and take care of yourself.
If you don’t want spoilers…why should the rest of the world be inconvenienced just so you don’t see them? You have the power to control this already.

Well, most accomplished PvP teams are already well adjusted to each other and just don’t want to change classes.
Also, there’s not been much time to test the Warrior with the last changes. It will take some time for meta to shift (or not shift, which would indicate that Warriors are still on the weak side).
Except, a lot of people didn’t have a problem switching to Necro, many of whom switched almost immediately. I mean maybe that was because Necro is so powerful they just felt they couldn’t win without it and Warrior is actually balanced so they didn’t feel the need to switch to using one. Was there an initial qualifier round where teams that had Warriors got eliminated or was there really just no teams that entered with Warriors?
There was one team with one warrior.
They weren’t very good (as a team), and the warrior exploded in seconds due to running an extremely glassy GS/Longbow build.
Oh well.
I was going to ask how the Warrior did….sad.

Stun breaks are useless because you will be stunned again within a second. The only thing you can do is blind or disengage.
CC warriors are over the top OP and need an immediate nerf.
Ya I agree, their influence on this weekends tournament was immense.

Most evades one can spam is three. If they spam three evades in a row, that is when you punish them.
Oh no no, this is highly dependent upon the profession/build being talked about.
You can build an S/D Thief to almost always be evading if you want.
Rangers can definitely evade way more than only 3 times.

Agree with Lifewaster about blind. Disagree with OP about retaliation. However, I do believe that retaliation needs to be telegraphed better. Retaliation is designed to be the counter to burst specs; if you take that away then it becomes next to useless.
Currently retaliation is absolutely worthless against the biggest burst hits though.
Backstab takes 1 hit of retal
Eviscerate takes 1 hit of retal

The skills punished most are things weak as heck like the Engineer’s flamethrower auto attack that pulses 10 attacks over 2 seconds. You can easily eat 2-3x the damage you do with the FT in retaliation damage.
It needs to just be a % of the damage taken is reflected, which is pretty much how the wording sounds like it would be.

Right now as it is a thief can spam and perma blind you all the time and you cant do anything about it, you dont even want to waste a condition removal on that because they are so easy applicable that is really unfair to have you all the time unable to attack, i find that this mechanic needs to go back so we can remove it just with the swing of the weapon is the only way to make it fair to the current state that is so spammable.
This thing makes aegis look like a baby.

So if im a warrior and i need to stay close to hit the thief i am now forbiden to do so because the thief ca spam this field?… eonugh with your bs.
And even if i did so, the blinds of thief are not only comming from that field, they have tons ways to put blind is a joke completely and mark my words is getting nerfed.
Black powders field isn’t big enough to deny your melee range – there’s no place the thief can stand where you can’t get melee range on him and still be outside the field – just don’t charge into it blindly and you’ll be fine. If he retreats into the field, circle it and you’ll have him back in range in a second. Let’s also note that if he is hiding towards the back of the field and you can’t hit him with melee without entering it (again, by just blindly walking into it instead of intelligently circling around it)….he can’t hit you with melee.
It’s really just a matter of skill, don’t stand in the field.
Also lets note that a skill that costs half a standard initiative bar isn’t “Spammable”.
You’re wasting your time. Check his post history – he is extremely negative and wont be happy until Warriors become the new easymode FOTM profession.

10% crit chance + high fury uptime from Sig of Rage makes it 30%. Then consider how huge the Longbow fire field is and that it keeps hitting people standing inside it.
LB 3 is also a multi hit attack.
LB auto attack is multi hit.
Sword burst is multi hit.
Many multi hit abilities to trigger it.

I’ve realized since playing Warrior more and more over the past couple months that most professions load their utility bar up with offensive abilities – Warriors are all defense usually.
Time for other professions to make the same choice. Load up on offensive utilities and get owned by stunlock Warriors, or load up on the defensive utilities and have a chance when you get focused.
But what about Mesmers, they have VERY little when it comes to offensive utilities
I’m glad I said most so someone couldn’t say it was a blanket statement haha. Mesmer would be an exception. They also are harder to kill with a CC Warrior than most other squishies due to all the stun breaks/ports they usually have.

Defektive, you state that mace + shield is required for cc build, but is the block so much worth it that you couldn’t take up an offhand mace? Tremor has good range and is a 2 second knockdown instead of a short range 1 second stun. I don’t have access to my game right now to test it so was wondering what thoughts you had on it.
I find blocks to be really important when I’m waiting for CDs to come back up, and to stop certain combos to come out. I like Mace OH a lot and usually run it with Sword. So technically you can still get it.
Another thing worth noting is that you’re getting a 2 second stun out of the shield vs a 2 second knockdown.
This is important due to the Unsuspecting Foe trait that is the reason we’re able to have decent damage output.
I also find Shield Bash to be quicker to get off than Tremor.
