Guild Wars 2

I’ve been playing around with various necro builds based around the blood magic trait line and siphoning and wanted to know what people’s opinions are on the best gear set for those types of builds. So far it seems like soldier’s gear is pretty solid, but a knights/valk mix or zerker may also be good. I will be using the build for WvW solo/small group roaming. I will not be doing any PvE whatsoever. Thanks.

Guess you’re attack speed hacking too, that’s the fastest mesmer scepter auto-attack chain I’ve ever seen between 0:24 and 0:26, and I don’t see quickness on you.

Clicking is the only way to effectively target specific players, and yes it is tedious but that’s the way the game was designed. Tab targeting is useless, you will end up targeting vines, doors, walls, rabbits, and plenty of other random objects before you even get a player let alone the specific player you wanted to target. You can always just go the AoE route also which doesn’t involve targeting, but against small groups of players who are not completely stupid, AoE will not be very effective as they can simply choose to not stand in it.

I think I’m fine with that, I don’t think I’m too concerned with out yaks during this matchup.

Feel free to run into any of our roaming groups, like HL or RED and see if you can match up. Or track down Florg or Kiroshi and see if you can condi kill some pro engineers…they are always roaming…

We would love to fight another havoc group! So far haven’t managed to find any that I’ve noticed. They might all be on FA bl though since we tend to avoid home bl. There’s been plenty of good fights, but I’ve seen a lot of map zergs from both CD and SoS. Nothing against that, SoS secured their home bl heading into NA hours yesterday because they were running a large group that we couldn’t match at the time. But if you want so good small scale fights we’re out there – just come looking for us.

I’ve also been trying out a new mesmer build (haven’t played mesmer since the glamour/confusion nerf) and loving it! Only lost one 1v1 vs a necro early on, after that was winning 1v3 1v4 although a necro in the group is still a really difficult fight.. I also remember chasing a thief off our yaks coming to Hill yesterday when I was passing through the area. Never even tried to fight, just ran. Silly thief. Moral of the story, don’t care about yaks, just want to fight. Anyone yakslapping isn’t going to give me a (good) fight.

In this match it might be good to roam in your home BL because I will (and I assume other roamers) be avoiding CDBL like the plague since there are FA zergs there 24/7. I’m not part of a havok group, usually just run around by myself but I engage anything up to 3 players, sometimes more if I’m in a good mood.

Nox, it’s easier to complain about an entire server based on a single event. Give Waffle a break, maybe he only gets out once a week for 15 minutes and that’s what he had to deal with.

I’m sure you aren’t, but it seems odd to me that someone would run around doing nothing but speed buffing yaks and not care whether they actually make it to their keeps alive. Everyone has different ideas of fun though ;p

. It’s not that I really like the look of the character you posted – because I don’t, but I have to admit that it matches engineer perfectly, and color choices are good – especially metal parts. And having a jetpack is an excellent idea, it really gives your toon “techno” feel.
Point taken for facial choice (too young and too “smooth”) but thats the bane of human male models in general in GW 2 and I shaved off half point for my personal dislike of overwhelming presence of trenchcoats in general.

Here’s a quick video of just two hours this morning that I made of your typical Dragonbrand players. This is what I had to deal with all week long when I struck gold and actually found a Dragonbrand player or two not zerging. Emotes like /laughing when they couldn’t walk the talk or had numbers advantage, running to guards or behind doors, doing anything to avoid any actual conflict instead of karma grinding.

What am I seeing here? So solo-specced faceroll thief beats group-specced DB players who likely have relatively little dueling experience. I fail to see the awesomeness. At least Waffler has the decency to prove his awesomeness running a solo-specced condi necro.

Man I sure do miss the old GW1 GvG format, and all of the other PvP formats. Nice video and editing job btw. If Anet ever does introduce a real GvG system, I think it’s a long long ways away. It’s not a financially viable addition to the game. Think about it from that perspective. People that are true PvP fanatics will seldom, if ever, spend any RL money on gems, skins, ect. They will, however, spend hours playing PvP. Consuming bandwidth and server resources. Face it… the money trail follows the PVE path, unfortunately.

That isn’t my video btw, just one I found that does a nice job of showcasing the extreme amount of coordination, timing, and reaction speed that was required in GW1 GvG.

I’d like the focus to shift off stealth and be placed on shadowstepping, steal, and hit and run tactics. In the place of a class you cant hit because you cant see, a class you cant hit because its more mobile based on well timed teleports and evades. Coupled with the ability to directly support it’s allies in a straight fight with boons like vigor, swiftness, retaliation, and frost auras it could rapidly become a welcomed addition to any party.

If we look at GW1 we can see ANet has a track record of totally overhauling a class due to poor core design, with the Dervish being the first that comes to mind.

I spent around 3 stacks on voting and then deleted the support badges just to get rid of them and now Anet makes them worth gold… Wish I had known earlier, I would have rather had the gold than some fractal dungeon I will never run anyway.

The actual simplest fix would be to remove the “leap finisher” from “heartseeker”. That is the single component that allows unskilled players to thrive with the thief class. Someone running away from you? 22222, Somone chasing you? 22222, Need perma-stealth? 522222, Want to DPS someone without having to worry about positioning or LOS? 22222. Don’t care if they are given buffs in other areas to compensate.

Sometimes the game likes to spam fall damage on you when you go down inclines, I’ve died walking down stairs many times from this.

Do you guys have any solo roamers? And by “solo” I mean solo. As in one. One person. Not two, or three, or five. One. People that will fight 1v1.

I’ve been roaming for a while now and all I’m running into are groups. And it ends badly with me being a necro with no way of escaping…
I tried inviting/joining those groups to ask them this same question but they all reject my invite, probably thinking I’m some kitten.

So, do I continue roaming in hopes of finding some good 1v1 fights or do I give up on WvW for this week?

I’ve found a few in DBBL, but they mostly melt in a few seconds so I’m guessing they were lost zerglings. There was one char warrior from [Hero] that gave a decent fight though. Haven’t had any luck in SoSBL and CDBL has enemy zergs running around 24/7.

If/when a GW2 expansion comes out and new classes/races are introduced, how many WvW players do you think will be willing to try them out at the expense of losing all of their WvW abilities? Yeah… c’mon Devon.
