I take it your server doesn’t organize portal chains through the EB jumping puzzle? That’s an easy 20 badges/char in a few minutes each day. The drop rate of badges from enemy players should be higher, but it’s far from a nightmare to collect enough for a set of weapons.

Nope, my server has plenty of people camping the JP all day long with more portals than you can shake a stick at. Although I usually get 10 badges per chest, so with five chars thats 50 a day. Can’t remember the exact price of one exotic, but I think it was around 750 badges. So 6 pieces of armor, main hand and off hand weapon, plus 5 pieces of jewelry will be 9750 badges. That’s 195 days. Yeah sure I get a lot more killing people, but with around 3200 WvW kills on my char I’ve acquired a total of around 600-700 badges including all the JP runs I’ve done. So yeah, I don’t have enough free time to make that happen, and will definitely not have enough to make ascended happen assuming they add it in.

I heard of someone trying to get a refund and they were told they don’t have the ability to give for purchases 6 months or more ago. The game has not been released for 6 months.

So: Guys. Last chance to get a refund if you prepurchased. Or rather, for most of you it’s too late, but some of you still have a few moments left.

Do you have any more information on this? We purchased two copies here at home, and we have been debating whether to ask for a refund, but we pre-purchased on 29th April.

I can confirm. Tried to get a refund after I heard others were able to get one and received a response from NCSoft that refunds won’t be granted 6 months past the purchase date. So as of this post, if you pre-purchased before May 17, you cannot get a refund. I made a thread asking about it, but it was deleted and I was infracted yet again.

I ask this…what does it matter what it drops? Your going to be running these dungeons over and over again because you like it, and you have fun with it.

You all seem to over dramatize the minor stat boosts like its the end of the world. If its a fun game, its a fun game. Period.

The people mad about the stat boosts are the ones who don’t enjoy dungeons, and they won’t be running it. The people in this thread are just saying that the dungeon is fun without having the increased stats, implying Anet could have made people who enjoy running dungeons happy as well as those who don’t at the same time.

Imagine how many players they would have drawn in if they had worked on balancing PvP to the point that GW2 became an e-sport.

In that case I would try and find something equivalent to a small claims court, as you must have paid for goods and not received them for more than 4 months, yet they are claiming this as part of your time with the product?

Maybe, but it’s probably not worth the trouble. I pre-ordered mid-April, so I would have until mid-October for a refund according to their terms I guess. They could always say the beta access I received was compensation anyway.

If you are smart, you will message them and ask them how their build can be countered. If you die to someone, it’s only your fault for being weaker than the other person, not their fault for being stronger or better at their build.

This post doesn’t make any sense and I’m not sure what you’re trying to accomplish with it. I said I’ve never messaged INSULTS to players who kill me. As far as deaths in general go, there is no requirement to message the player who killed you to get better. Most of the time people die they know that they died because they were outnumbered, not paying attention, caught unprepared, or just screwed something up in general. For times when they are generally confused about how they died they can go on the forums for help, play with the class that killed them to better understand how to counter, or just study additional strategies for their class which may work better. I highly doubt many players who just killed you will be happy to spend a good 10 mins explaining what you were doing wrong and how to better counter their build.

Now, at this point I find most calculators will let you spam the = button and each time you do the number will increase. And if you buy a good calculator the cap is stupidly high!

I’ve been playing wvw 4-5 days a week since launch on TC a few hours a day (mainly solo or small group roaming). Out of all the match’s CD has by far the highest alt-F4 players I’ve seen. Tonight i thought I’d keep a tally, in 3 hours 10 alt F4’s. I’d be lucky to see 10 all week against other servers. They complain about being out numbered on this thread from time to time yet thats exactly the way they slamed us a month or so ago when they were FOTM. No respect for CD. Yaks however is cool.

Alt-F4 just became popular recently, and you just started playing matches against CD recently, coincidence? No, logic is your friend. I know everyone likes to jump on the CD hate bandwagon, but I can make the exact same observation. TC and YB both have tons of people Alt-F4ing and I’ve never encountered this many in the past. Also, I’ve received plenty of dirty messages from both TC and YB while killing your folks in the JP, so the people who like to say that CD is the only one with rude players are just flat out wrong. I have never messaged anyone insults after they have killed me, and I’ve been CD since beta.

Yeah… I walked in there (I am from CD) and saw the STUPID amount of people camping there, with siege and all… it’s kind of depressing, actually. With the amount of people we had in there at one point, we could have actually been (gasp) ATTACKING SOMETHING. Otherwise this matchup was fun. We’re getting kicked back into T4 for a week, but we’ll be back. Hopefully (ahem) without the puzzle campers.

Not sure what happened to CD since our match a couple of weeks ago. Feel bad for the CD players that are trying to put some points on the board. Either we got a lot more organized or you guys regressed.

Wish the JP conversation was taken to a JP thread. But, if your server or any server wants to hang out in a JP, go ahead. Far less people for us to deal with when we are trying to win a match.

Considering how unbalanced the tiers are right now you may be back in a Tier 3 match in a couple of weeks. Hope you become better organized in that time frame. Good luck.

Same thing that’s been happening since the start of this game. CD was a tier 2 server, we ended up in tier 3 from transfers. Now we will be in tier 4, maybe it will stop once we reach tier 5 or 6.

Seems like players are divided.. sure would be nice to get a dev response to this.

It’s bad for all the reasons you listed under pro and level 80 is good for all the reasons you put under contra.

Sure add in new runes/skills and perhaps tie these to a new storyline and a separate progression track AoC style, but under no circumstances should the level cap be raised lest they alienate their entikittenget audience.

I agree with you OP. Unfortunately it seems like a lot of the people playing GW2 never played GW1 so their view of MMOs is limited to the need for endless progression, constant upgrades, and limitless achievements. They have been trained well by the gaming industry, and will continue to bear fruit for many years to come.

I haven’t read all 147 pages of posts, so apologies if this has already been suggested before:

ANet is a company. Numbers talk to them. At this point, we can reasonably expect Ascended items to make their way into the update this weekend and we may better illustrate our disapproval through actions.

For those who are not happy with the stat increase, why don’t we decide on a day where no one logs into the game for a day? A weekend day (say Saturday Nov 24, one week after the content update, starting GMT 0:00 for 24 hours) would have the largest impact as player logins are highest. The benefits are two-fold:
1) For those claiming that this direction alienates a majority of the playerbase, ANet will have some concrete numbers to work with. It could be the case that much of what we see here is grandstanding and we are all happily chasing giant crabs to care, or ANet might see a 50% drop in playerbase for that period.
2) Talk is cheap. If we all feel as strongly about this as the forum posts suggest, we need to do more than complain.

This is only a suggestion and we should decide on its merits or lack-thereof after this weekend once we have a better idea of how frequently Ascended loop drops and what the Infusions are.

Just some thoughts.

I am not happy with the change and I showed my feelings about it with a swift uninstall. People may say this is premature, but I’ve been screwed over by too many games in the last couple of years, most recently Diablo 3 which I purchased the collector’s edition of. If Anet removes the stat increase for Ascended gear or makes exotics the gear ceiling for WvW, then I will reinstall. Until then, all the people crying about lack of progression can grind your new dungeon, get your new gear in a couple weeks, and cry some more about progression; Anet will probably listen.

So who makes up the vocal majority or the silent minority? Or are minorities always vocal and majorities always silent.

Here’s what I don’t get.

Power creep is the only solution. There always has to be something to chase. There have to be better items, better upgrades, more things to do. As it stands Guild Wars 2 is a game where I could within 3 to 4 months have 5 exoticed 80’s, all of different classes. If I achieve that I’m done. I literally have nothing more to do.

There is a large group of people who don’t play games to have something “to chase”, they just want to have fun. A significant portion of the GW2 player base (including myself) came from GW1, which I doubt you have played judging by your post. Level cap was 20 in GW1 and I was able to get a character to that level in about 6 hours of play. Similarly, level 20 gear (best available) was much easier to get than exotics. How did they expand the game? They added new classes, new skills, new areas to explore, new PvP modes; and that’s what they should be doing in GW2. I play a lot of RTS and FPS games, and in those games there is no ahievement mentality, everyone is on equal footing all the time and they play the game to have fun. If you want something to achieve all the time, I suggest getting a job, you can work towards getting that next big promotion and buying an expensive car to reward yourself.

Wow! That’s a really good drawing of the dolyak. Seriously, I laughed pretty hard at that picture. On topic, I think more mobile siege should be added, maybe adding in the tanks or helicopters that Charr are able to make.

Simple, Anet just needs to add a mirror upgrade component for helmets that gives you a picture in picture of the area behind you. You could look like those bikers that use em.

Please keep in mind that we’re releasing this as one portion of a massive November update that introduces and improves many aspects of challenge, progression, and rewards. With this and upcoming updates, we view ourselves as introducing large amounts of content with supporting systems and features, akin to an expansion pack, building on Guild Wars 2 through a series of live releases. So it’s important for us to be able to add an expansion pack’s worth of progression and rewards to support that content.

Our goal is not to create a gear treadmill. Our goal is to ensure we have a proper progression for players from exotic up to legendary without a massive jump in reward between the two. We will slowly add the remaining ascended gear items and legendary items in future updates to allow people time to acquire them as we add exciting new content that deserves exciting rewards. We will not be adding a new tier of gear every 3 months that we expect everyone to chase after and then get the next set and so on.

Ascended and infusion rewards will be available in both PvE and WvW over time, and be made available through all sorts of content around the world including existing content. PvP will remain unaffected to ensure our intended PvP balance going forward. We are also working on other reward and progression systems for the game that tie into current and new content and features. As you know we care very much about your support and opinion and are listening intently to what you say.

After reading the post all I can say is wow Anet. I will be returning to SC2 until Anet can decide if they want to continue the legacy of GW1, or make a game to compete directly with WoW. Raising the level cap to 80 and making exotic gear much more difficult to obtain than lvl 20 gear from GW1 were already huge steps away from what made GW1 a good game, but after this it doesn’t look like they are done yet. And as Linsey Murdock says “This is just the beginning.”
