I’ve noticed it’s very easy this season also, barely played so far and I’m already about to be sapphire. Just doing solo-q and I don’t even have the expansion lol. I though it was impossible for reapers and scrappers to lose to a vanilla dps guard, but I was apparently wrong. Every now and then you get some real knuckleheads on your team that make you lose, like the people who actually go and try to stomp the fake down state mesmer, but overall still around an 80% win rate.
5 vs 2-1-1-1 is still allowed. The cutoff for roster size differences is configurable, but it is entirely possible that match quality and queue times would not be acceptable at all ladder positions if the acceptable spread were smaller.
Hi, can you provide information from season one on what percentage of matches were a full 5-man premade vs a non 5-man premade and what that win percentage was?
So essentially all of the servers that have less players than the servers they are fighting would lose twice. They lose the PPT battle because the server with more players can hold more keeps / towers / camps than they can, and then they lose again because the server with more players can win more fights (and therefore achieve a higher K/D ratio) due to their numbers advantage. A 40 man blob wiping a group of 10 while only losing 2 of their own would have a 5.0 K/D ratio, so I guess we should reward them for their skilled play by giving them more points.
They were being used in WvW to skip over walls and jump into keeps and towers.
Then make those walls taller…? Add an invisible barrier since nothing should be entering those keeps and towers? But don’t break a movement mechanic.
This was my general thought too. Fix the root cause of the issue, as opposed to just fixing a symptom.
sigh
that would require anet to write new code, all they know how to do is copy-paste older code in different orders.
Here’s my argument: If they aren’t willing to buy Heart of Thorns… who cares if they cry?
Genius!
Don’t have expansion, played vanilla power necro SoloQ to diamond. Decided to not even try for legendary since this game has become pay-to-win garbage.
how about we just ban all people from ranked who run bad builds, elite spec or no? with your idea all those hipster berserkers would still be able to play ranked and ruin everything.
I support this, no elite specs, no revenants, alpine maps please.
It’s not like this bug matters. When ANet’s idea of stealth is literally showing people where you stealthed in a small circle that can be cleaved/spammed to death, you really don’t have actual stealth.
Imagine Frodo putting on the ring, disappearing and having a big neon light over his head for 3 seconds and only being able to wear the ring in a confined area. Stupid.
Pretty much, shadow refuge is such a terrible skill, hopefully one day Anet buffs it so that it actually becomes viable in pvp.
why do you plague stomp mesmers?
For the health increase. So i don’t get bursted by the other mesmer who was in stealth. And in T1 people appear from nowhere to kill you, i can’t afford let a mesmer get revived because i’ll get killed, for sure.
o my bad, i thought the mesmer at 4:36 was alone.
At 4:36 was alone. But like i said, in T1 people appear from nowhere to gank you. I couldn’t afford that.
o oki, so if mesmer times invis skill to avoid first stomp, do you sit in plague for remaining 16-17 seconds to damage mesmer till dead, or do you come out of plague to stomp again? i’m thinking about switching to necro main and trying to learn how to play.

Who says necros are underpowered?…
Probably the people who play actual PvP rather than running around in a blob of 50+ spamming skills mindlessly. Avoiding focus fire isn’t really an issue when you take no damage due to the 5 or less target limit of most skills.
Anet probably tries to consider all 8/9 classes in the game when balancing, not just mesmers and eles. So you get beat by eles (read as “skilled players”) now, welcome to the club.
You’re right that shouldn’t happen, a team with 2 eles should never lose that bad.
Prisoner. You are awesome!
Anyway, good change. SHould have been documented though, not being documented speaks volumes about ANETs way of doing things. Sad but true.
It’s more likely that Anet just has very poor communication / organization like many companies.
I would actually buy the expansion if this was the necro spec. Enjoyed playing pet classes in most games including Guild Wars 1 as a necro, but they are designed in such a terrible manner in GW2 that they are hardly viable in a lot of situations. I was thinking a necro spec that focuses on sacrifice skills would be fun to play, but this is also interesting.
Lich does need a nerf, there’s literally nothing you can do against ranged auto-attacks that kill you if you get hit twice. Lich damage should be nerfed by probably 50%, and they definitely shouldn’t have stability since they can already kite with ranged attacks. Warrior rampage is fine, it’s honestly a l2p issue if you can’t deal with this. Work on timing your dodges and using soft cc and rampage becomes a joke, very easy to deal with.
This is disappointing, I would feel pretty bad if I had pre-ordered the expansion made by this moronic company with a pve-loving monkey for CEO. Luckily I didn’t Ayyyyyyy!
hi, i am v pro mesmer playr, but recently anet buff gollum by huge # and now lots bad plyrsa can play gollum class and b gud. this is v umbalanced and nids fix. i suggest that mesmer playr able moa gollun class to make gam balance again. thx and sry 4 bad engrish.
A lot more builds and play styles become viable in stronghold since you no longer have to fight over a small circle, almost similar to roaming in WvW without all the bad 1-spamming zergs chasing you down. If they add a few more maps, each with unique features, GW2 might actually become a fun PvP game.
10/10
It’s simple economics, the level of e-sports in GW2 is only large enough to sufficiently support one team at any given time. If a second team were to enter the competitive scene and practice enough to compete at the same level as the abjured, the GW2 e-sports level would no longer be able to support both teams, and consequently both teams would experience e-sports degeneration. Other teams know this, and due to the high barriers to entry of the conquest game mode, it is not economically viable to expend the required resources to compete with the abjured. Unfortunately, this leads to a vicious cycle in which the lack of competition gradually degrades the total e-sports level capacity of GW2 over time, so that eventually it will not even be sufficient to support one team. This phenomena is known as Vain Convergence.
If queue time depends on your MMR, then why don’t they display the average queue time for your MMR? The current system is misleading and provides no information since the 2:00 time estimate is not how long I should expect to be in the queue for.
The average queue time listed in the game always seems to be somewhere between 2:00 and 2:30, but I consistently have queue times of 7:00+. This is for me doing either solo or duo queue in unranked arena. I would like someone check to see if this is working correctly, or inform me of what I need to do to get the 2:00 queue time. It’s very frustrating to have to wait this long just to play one game, especially when you will almost certainly be matched up against a 4-5 man pre-made and be at a disadvantage.
I play necro to try get them nerfed through the QQ threads of my victims. Just had a warrior whisper me today about how cheesy and op I was after I destroyed him in a 1v1, it was quite amusing and I hope he creates a thread about it.
From my experience mm necro seems to be a decent necro build, so it should probably be nerfed. Don’t mind mesmers, eles, and guardians though, those classes take actual skill.
Correction, 5 defenders will die within 2 seconds, which is easily countered with one warbanner. The other 45+ will still run over you because you are a necro that can’t escape.
What can ANet do to stop people from going afk?
I would be fine with having their accounts terminated, or at least permanently banned from participating in pvp. If they want to try again, they can go buy another account.
Solo queue up for an unranked match, the game says average queue time is 2:17.
After waiting 7:18, I finally get a match (about 95% of my matches are longer than the “average” queue time, usually by double).
Maps are skyhammer, courtyard, and khylo, luckily we get khylo.
I wait another 1:30 for game to begin.
We are winning the match relatively easily, and get the score to 494 to about 200ish in our favor.
Then one person goes afk and is eventually kicked due to inactivity.
A second person goes afk and is kicked due to inactivity.
A third person goes afk, and we have lost all of our points, I can’t cap anything because there are 2-3 people following me around attacking me no matter where I go.
We lose the match 494 to 500.
It boggles my mind how a 3 year old game that was trying to be an e-sport title can have PvP that is so incredibly terrible. Just adding my sentiment to the wealth of threads already out their explaining why GW2 PvP is so bad, maybe one day Anet will hire some talent and fix it.
1s of chill and 1 boon removed sounds powerful indeed.
Necro downstate definitely needs a nerf, only downstate attack that allows you to heal and do damage at the same time, while the #3 is hilarious with 4-5k AoE damage per second. Should also probably do something about the I Win Lich button that allows a necro to 1 shot entire teams, such an ez mode class.
I’ve been seeing a lot of threads made by people complaining about gem prices lately, and even more posts by people saying it’s simply supply and demand. Here are some facts.
First data point on GW2Spidy for gem prices on September 10, 2012 has 100 gems costing 2747 copper and 100 gems selling for 1965 copper, this comes to a (2747-1965)/2747 = 28.47% loss due to transaction fees of converting gold to gems and back to gold. You can back into the transaction fee by solving x+x(1-x) = Loss % to get a 15.42% transaction fee.
The most recent data point I see on GW2Spidy today May 24, 2015 has 100 gems costing 205354 copper and 100 gems selling for 110821 copper, this comes to a (205354-110821)/205354 = 46.03% loss due to transaction fees. You can solve the same equation and see that the transaction fee is currently 26.54%
Since transaction fees have absolutely nothing to do with supply and demand, part of the reason that gem prices are increasing so much, especially recently, is due to Anet making them more expensive to buy with in game gold (obviously you can always dual wield those credit cards for the same rate). The 15% transaction fee (which is the official one listed in the wiki here http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Currency_exchange) was unchanged from release to August 2014, in September 2014 it started to increase and has been increasing ever since.

But if pre-mades aren’t allowed to fight full pug teams, how will bad players get their champion titles?
Good balance change, goodbye EZ mode ele.
Locust Swarm: The casting time of this skill has been reduced from 1 second to 0.5 seconds.
Dev note: This change will give necromancers a bit more mobility.
Why isn’t this game e-sports yet?
No, just had some angry person whisper me last night after getting repeatedly destroyed. If it says user is not online then they either have you blocked or set themselves to invisible.
Any reason why the forum search still doesn’t work in a game that was released over 2 years ago? I remember seeing a Dev respond on the forums a little over a year ago saying they would look into it and I would post a link for reference if I could find it… but obviously…
After (10, 20, 30?) people join a commanders squad, that commander gains a buff that either makes him immune to all such sniping skills…
This seems extreme, how about just immune to head shots?
Double-click birthday blaster, use the #2 in a light field and clear 3 conditions, pretty useful.
It’s also possible to jump on completely flat terrain and take falling damage each time you hit the ground until you die, pretty good feature.
The problem is that dueling is only a replica of actual pvp. For example, in magic kingdom…the replica buildings and characters are DESIGNED to be as they are, whereas a dueling option would circumvent the point of that. Spvp is better because the amulets are all you need to equalize players, it’s actually unfair that WvW allows players to mix and match stat combinations and stuff. In all honesty, players would abuse the dueling system much as the LFG tool is abused. Watchler made a good point, if you want dueling and fairness, then go play mario kart or CoD
Your argument is invalid due to the fact that magic kingdom started like that, just as Guild Wars 2 started without dueling. Magic Kingdom then went on to add new PvP oriented rides such as Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and Tomorrowland Speedway, both those rides added a new competitive PvP aspect for the whole family. Therefore it is still entirely possible for Anet to add dueling to the OS.
Not possible, look what happened to Neverwinter Nights dueling servers where all the players used hack editors to bad strref weapon damage so they hit 100K+ damage per hit. What’s the maximum heal you can do in GW2? Yeah, it’s only 50K, tell me how that’s possible? Please just uninstall your operating system and go back to your casual angry bird ipad game, you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about.
Dueling only adds more toxicity to an already toxic game, no need for it. If you want dueling go play your CoD games kiddie.
no plz, gam needs 2b more realistic, wen i stab wall at home wit butter knife i turn invisible, so it is gud in gam
why would you need to report hackers? hackers don’t exist in this game.
If this is your lightbulb moment, I’d hate to see your regular moments.
Pretty good idea, but this system should be permanent where the last place server at the end of each week gets deleted. Once there is only 1 server left, they should just delete WvW so that devon carter can get started on that raid content for pve.
