Some people spend more time playing the game so they have more achievement points. Some people spend more time working so they have more money. Why do you thinking the working individuals are being treated unfairly? If they value GW2 achievement points more than money then they should quit their jobs.

I would add main-hand sword with following skills:

1. Cleaving attack that applies vulnerability
2. Teleport to target and immob
3. part i: apply one stack of torment for each unique condition on target
part ii: steal all conditions from target and do % damage and receive % life force for each unique condition received

Would essentially be a hybrid weapon that gives a little more group utility with cleave, makes it more difficult for people to escape, and provides more interesting condition management skills since you can steal conditions and heal for extra health or steal conditions and plague sig transfer to someone else. Also gives necros more than one way to apply torment. Whether it would be op or not would depend on the numerical values/cooldowns of the abilities, so I’m sure it could be balanced.

Fear wall lasts 5 seconds, you decide you can’t wait 5 seconds to zerg that next champ and as a result spend 15 minutes running back to your zerg. Seems pretty good to me.

I have a hypothesis I want to test:

If the Aegis is from the Guardian’s virtue with infinite duration, then it Blocks Spinal Shivers.

If the Aegis is just an Aegis that has an actual duration from another source, then it gets stripped by Spinal Shivers.

I haven’t double-checked it necessarily with the vid, but I was generally thinking about the inconsistency, and I know that SS is Blocked very consistently if you lead into it on a Guardian who has their class Aegis up and running.

I tested this in spvp with a guildie and had him use both the passive and active aegis with no other boons, they were both stripped by SS.

I had a bit of hope when they talked about hard counters they would say something about diamond skin. But alas they chose berserker stance (which I think is intentional).

I actually watched that bit, and I noticed when they described what berserker stance does, they said it greatly reduces condition duration. Are they aware that berserker stance actually just makes you immune to conditions? They used engi as an example and said, well when I see berserker stance come up I just use my mobility to kite the warrior around or back off, then come back when the stance is over. So the counter is mobility… welp.

If Signet of Undeath had a 90s cooldown and regenerated 5% life force per 3s instead of 1%, then I would consider it. The cast time seems balanced given that its potentially a 3-player rez. Signet of Vamp… I really have no idea what Anet was going for with this one, it just seems terrible in general and should probably be completely redesigned.

I’m not quite sure what you call these abilities, but they CAN do incredibly high damage in some circumstances. Highly depending on environment.

Abilities such as Necromancer’s Flesh Golem Charge. If you are against a wall (or some small rocks sometimes) you can be rooted to the spot as well as the Golem, and thus the whole charge ticks constant damage on you for the duration rather than 1-2 single hits.

Other abilities are Elementalist’s Fiery Greatsword Elite #4 Fiery Rush. If you use it on an untargetted NPC against a wall, all the damage is on 1 location and ticks for a lot of damage.

Take a look at this for example. It has the same effect.

Path of scars doesn’t function the same as rush abilities. In fact, if you use it against a wall it will only hit once because the axe just goes inside the wall and disappears never to be seen again making it do even less damage than it should.

the axe bug is caused by server lag. it happes a LOT in WvW.
The reason it hits multiple times is because during the pull the server/client has a minor lag, this causes your toon to accelerate a tiny tiny bit ahead of the axe, thus it registrers as multiple hits during pull. In WvW, it is more easily seen then in PvP, because the massive zerg lagfests causes widespread lag all over, while PvP lag is mostly client lag due to poor PC performance coupled with some latency and too much particle effects.

It’s not lag, I tested it in PvE zones on regular mobs and could consistently get 3 hits.

There is also a bug where if you use path of scars at around 700 range (rather than the max 900 range) you will hit the enemy 3 times instead of 2 times. The extra 50% damage can make it hit pretty hard, and glass builds have a good chance of getting 1-shot if they aren’t at full health. In general it’s a pretty easy to avoid skill (much easier to avoid than a thief backstab which hits just as hard), and the axe #5 is completely terrible which is why very few if any rangers use off-hand axe.

Axe 5 is good if used in the right way.
Ranger burst rotation: quickenin zephyr -> axe 4 -> entangle -> axe 5 -> swap to gs then maul.
Use pet f2 at any stage of the rotation to gain further vuln and damage.
By the time maul lands, the target should have 22 stacks of vuln on them. This rotation works fairly well i wvw, but pvp may have too low stats to get the same effect.

That burst would require the enemy player to not dodge the path of scars, not dodge the entangle, use no condi clears/teleport skills to get out of the entangle, and use no block or evade skills to avoid the damage. It also assumes that you will somehow hit the enemy first with a slow-moving, short-range projectile skill. But there’s a lot of really bad players in WvW, so I’m sure that works on a few people.

When they’re invisible, random golem charge, DS 4,5, dagger swipes, marks, wells, everything you have that is not targeted.

That is actually the worst thing you can do against a thief, even though you can’t see the thief, the thief can still see you. This means that not only do your random attacks have a low probability of hitting the thief, they are almost guaranteed to miss because the thief will simply avoid them. Then the thief comes out of stealth and hurp durp you have no skills because you randomly spammed them all at nothing. …especially spamming wells at invisible enemies, those have pretty long cooldowns, are you new to necro? The most you would want to do is use a low cd mark or two to stand on so you have warning to when the thief is about to hit you.

Be careful what you guys wish for. We don’t need more EotM karma train maps.

The main reason why EotM is a karma train is because it doesn’t count towards a server’s score. If EotM was one of the maps contributing to server score during the season when everyone was try-harding for their shiny weapon skins (which they are still butt-mad about), I can guarantee there would be plenty of defensive play on it.

I use 6/6/0/0/2 with scepter/focus and staff in full rampager. Been using full rampager necro since about 3 months after game release and rarely lose 1v1s, 1v2s are usually do-able unless one or both of them are cheese builds, and have even won a few 1v3s and 1v4s. Pretty much any trait set-up with 6/4/x/x/x is good for hybrid though, just depends on what you prefer.

I would play the PvP in this game a lot more if there was a CTF mode, simply because running around is more fun than standing still in a circle. Seems the main opposition to CTF simply states that the game isn’t balanced for it. Surprise! The only game mode currently is conquest, so obviously it won’t be balanced for CTF (not that conquest is even well balanced to begin with). If Anet ever decided to introduce a CTF mode, then I’m sure they would balance for it.

Sounds pretty good, I would also suggest removing the team select option. The only two options should be join the game or spectate the game. If people want to play on the same team as their friends or as the people they think are good, then they can go form a team with them and queue up to fight other teams.

Hot join in a nutshell: Find out who the 1-3 good players are in the server and always stack on their team to get landslide victories. I’ve watched players who see a rank 80 on red, stay in spectate spamming the red team until they get on it, then the rank 80 player gets auto-balanced to blue because it’s 5v2 and all the players instantly leave to spectate and spam the blue team which now becomes stacked with nobody on the red team. This process repeats until eventually the noobs are the ones to get auto-balanced and all the bads get carried to their victory. It’s pretty pathetic, and means either you sit in spectate spamming winning teams all day, or spend entire matches fighting 1v3s and 1v4s because your team is either non-existent or full of new players wandering around in the spawn looking at the environment. Regardless of whether a PvP match provides imaginary rank points or not, it seems like Anet would at least want it to be fun.

Why I quit playing Healway Guard:
Even though I have 3.3K armor, nearly 1.3k Healing, running shouts with Pure Of Voice and have Absolute Resolution trait on, I still can’t deal with all the insane condition spaming.
You cleanse 3, 4 new are applied. And you can’t effectively outheal the condition damage.

Healway guard is one of the strongest builds to fight against condi-heavy classes. You sound like one of those players that blows all your condi clears on something stupid like a single stack of bleed or a short duration weakness.

Play the build and then talk.
You don’t even have enough DPS to kill Condition Tanks if you’re running Healway (3.3K, 1.2k build).

It’s much easier to kill Condition builds running semi-zerk Meditation Guard.

I’ve played healway guard plenty, that’s how I know you’re bad.

It’s pretty simple so not sure why you felt the need to make a thread about it. I think you just saw rare rucksack skins were worth a lot, got excited and didn’t pay attention to what you were doing, and now you’re upset that you aren’t getting any gold.

I would say there are some mechanics of the game that are broken rather than classes.

1. Invisibility – pretty stupid mechanic that has no counter-play, all you can do is guess with aoe/cleave, try to dodge/block the actions from the player that you can’t see, or run away. Essentially doesn’t allow you to make any intelligent decisions on how to play since you have no information on what the other player is doing and it’s impossible to get any information on what they are doing, all you can do is run or guess and pray.

2. Boon spamming – Provides way too much survivability/support for abilities that require very little thought to use. Any group can get 2 morons to play shout guards and their group becomes near-impossible to kill. All it requires is the group to run around relatively close to each other with the guards slapping their keyboards.

3. Condition spamming – Pretty much same deal as boon spamming in that it requires very little thought to be effective. Just play a perplexity condi-engi and spam everything and you win, you don’t need to know what condis you’re spamming and you don’t need to care because the conditions and their effects aren’t unique or complex enough for it to matter, it’s just a lot of damage that kills people.

Would be nice if Anet would go back to it’s roots with GW1, remove invisibility from the game and use the enchantment/hex system instead of the boon/condition system. Just some quick examples of enchantment/hex system for non-GW1 players.

Enchantment: Holy Veil – Doubles the casting time of hexes cast on target player and at the end remove a hex.

Hex: Shivers of Dread – Cold damage interrupts target foe’s actions.

They are positive/negative effects that can be applied to players similar to boons/conditions, but a lot of them require specific strategies/synergies and lots of planning/coordination to be effective.

I use scepter/focus, boon strip too strong these days with everyone running around in tight little balls of kitten composed of guards/wars/eles. The focus #4 can also be used at point blank range to instantly hit the target 3 times since there is no travel distance for the bounce, can be used to get pretty good mini-bursts on hybrid builds.

All other servers don’t have even a reason to show up.

See I don’t necessarily agree with this. In world cups, we see again and again surprise teams making their way to the top and sometimes even winning.

Has there ever been a world cup where a team with 3 people playing beat a team with 11 people playing? If not, then your point is invalid in terms of its application to GW2 WvW.

Most people that play WvW make their characters run instead of walk, then it only takes a few minutes to get across the map. I assume you spend most of your time in Divinity’s Reach on TC?

So, let me understand…. we just had 9 weeks of a season where you had different matchups every week and somehow you are sick of facing the same servers every week?

Idk what league you were in but a lot of us played the same 3 foes every week.

That’ll tend to happen to servers that are overstacked for their league since it’s impossible to fight higher ranked servers during seasons.

If you roam solo then 95% of your “fair” fights will be against 5-2 thieves and pu condi mesmers, both of which will simply turn invisible and run away if the fight isn’t going well for them. Most people won’t willingly subject themselves to that kind of torture.

Actually open field acs seem to be standard practice in eotm, every zerg that I’ve seen friendly or enemy builds them as soon as they see another group. If two zergs meet at a bridge it just turns into a blob on one side with 5+ acs/balis shooting at a blob on the other side with 5+ ac/balis and nobody really gets anywhere.

Pretty much sums up this game, I routinely have to kill people 3-4 times to actually kill them because of all the rallies they get off of bad friendlies who like to suicide. Then, ya know, a zerg comes to rez them and there’s nothing you can do about it because their blob is too good at the game.

I think most skill players would appreciate the removal of rally from killing something and the removal of resurrecting dead players in and out of combat. Rally on death certainly creates a significant amount of animosity towards less experienced allies.

All it would take is to only allow players to rally if an enemy they were attacking is stomped by an ally. No rallies because somebody died to mindless 1 spam, no rallies because a random deer decided to jump into the fight and dies instantly. As for defeated players, they should be treated the same as sPvP, they have a short timer after which they automatically respawn.

Ah yes, the full dire/perplexity/diamond skin ele, one condi bunker to rule them all.

Edit: Added a few pics of a build I just threw together, note that with guard stacks this build has 2592 condition damage, as far as I know this is the highest condi damage possible on any build. The earth attunement auto-attacks with a 1.5s cast time do over 5000 condi damage, and both water/air attunements have interrupts to trigger perplexity. All while being essentially immune to conditions.

Condi – bomb? P/D – you’re joking, right? If that is considered a ‘Condi Bomb’ then I understand what the ‘nerf-condition-QQ’ really is …

I can condi burst people down much faster on my p/d thief than I can on my necro (and I’ve played my necro far more than my thief), and at the same time you have near immortality with on demand invisibility/insane regen/condi removal. Only reason to play a condi necro over a thief is for epidemic.

This has probably burnt enough flippers that they will stay away from scamming people for a few weeks which should drop the prices on some items. Good move by Anet.

How can you scam someone on an exchange where both parties have to agree to the same price before a transaction occurs? If someone thinks an item is overpriced then they can simply choose to not purchase it at that price.

Why would you use wells in a 1v1 scenario?

I always use well of darkness when fighting a thief, it is essentially a 5 second invul since they either stand in the well to attack you and miss everything, or they don’t stand in the well in which case they aren’t attacking you (referring to any type of dagger/sword main-hand thief since that’s about 90% of them).

Anyway, a few tips for the OP:
- Always save your fear mark for when they refuge (every single thief in the game will use refuge, I guarantee it)
- Open with a chill mark is always good since it makes it much easier to kite them around
- Well of darkness is very good for keeping a thief off of you as I explained above
- Spectral wall is also very good for the same reason as well of darkness, you just strafe around the wall and the thief can’t touch you.
- Always be standing on a mark when the thief is invis so you have some warning to when they are near and can dodge their backstab.
- Use DS #3 to interrupt the popular 5-2 combo (d/p thief) and then you can burst/immob with DS# 5 and 4
- Reaper’s protection trait is also very good vs thieves (4 into death magic) as it is essentially an auto 4 second fear (with 100% duration) on the thief when they hit you with basilisk venom
- Plague is prob the best elite because you can pop it and use the #2 for blind pulse to buy you time for some skills to come off cooldown and the thief can’t touch you

The only thief build I can’t beat with any kind of consistency is a p/d condi thief, and after actually making and playing a p/d condi thief quite a bit I’m convinced they are the god mode dueling build in this game if played correctly.
