Because there were mass transfers due to the paid transfer update. That is going to cause servers that already had zergs to have bigger zergs and servers that didn’t have zergs before to finally get them. That’s also why there will be a lot more threads complaining about WvW population limits and queues. When you only have a few jam-packed WvW servers and a lot of emplty ones, those annoyances become a lot more pronounced.

I would make it so that each server had a unique borderland map based on their server name (e.g. Crystal Desert borderlands is actually in the desert). Not only would it make fighting new servers unique and fun, but you might see players transferring to lower population servers just because they have a cool map. Of course it would be a lot of work to make 24 unique maps, but I’m a workaholic so it wouldn’t be a problem.

So, how many deaths do you guys have on your main char? I’m at 1,211 myself.

I use to run a SW build, but ditched it because other guardian builds were simply better. SW guardian required you to get certain traits to even be remotely viable which left you gimped stat-wise, they were very poor defensively with almost no condition removal or mobility, and were left completely vulnerable for long periods of time due to the extremely long cooldown on SW skills. I haven’t tested the new SW yet, but I have to say nerfing them doesn’t make a lot of sense as they were already pretty terrible and I rarely ever saw SW guardians. I guess they could be considered annoying since they forced you to kite while fighting, but on my list of annoying things in this game, SW guardians are wayyyy low on the list. The class at the top of my list received no notable changes, interesting.

Just make a thief. I would have made one, but I don’t have the balls to level a second character to 80.

As you can see from the attached picture, week 42 is where we were destroyed by some farm boy who spent his free time shooting womp rats with his T-16. Following this disappointment, we slowly rebuilt to become even bigger and more powerful than before. Unfortunately, at week 03, we were once again destroyed, but this time by a bunch of teddy bears and fish people with the uncanny ability to detect traps.

Our guild leader is sitting at about 133k kills at the moment, and the game wasn’t released 10 years ago, so titles are not unreachable.

Nope, you need to take Psych101. The majority of those recruiting on the forums are either the oldest or the most dedicated of their server. The purpose of recruiting is to benefit the server, not their personal guild. Those who transfer off easily don’t care about their server enough to actively recruit; they’re the ones looking at recruitment threads to see where they can get easy karma. It’s rather a matter of common sense…

Nope, you need to take some economics courses in game theory. There is no sense of dedication or greater good in human decision making, it is all based on maximizing personal utility. The people who most desperately want to be on a top server will make recruitment posts because they have the greatest incentive to ensure that their server succeeds. However, the desire to be on a top server will also make these people the first to jump ship as soon as they perceive a possibility that their server will fail. People who value server loyalty over rankings will be indifferent towards winning or losing and will make no effort to influence those results. It’s rather a matter of simple logic…

Yeah, maybe unless people on CD and SBI keep freaking out and transferring off. Yaks is really the only stable server population wise out of those three. IoJ could have easily been a tier 4 server, but they went through the same thing CD and SBI are and now look at them.

Actually yes. I held off for a while but once I gave in an installed it I saw why my guild left for PS2. Totally fun, and in true FPS fashion a group of 4-5 coordinated guys can take out massive numbers of people.

Also subbed for the ESO beta, crossing my fingers I get a response to get in.

Hmm, think we can find a more balanced group to fight so it’s actually fun?
Well where would we find them? Let’s try CDBL, maybe the blue zergball won’t be there for a few minutes.

I mean what good does it do to go to EB or the KBL where you know the ball will be rolling in force if you’re looking for an actual fight? I saw a few CD in our YBBL this morning and we had a nice 3-5 fight vs them. THAT was fun. Then a blue zergball appeared and wiped all of us out together, THAT was funny (seeing both yb and cd corpses lying on the ground together under the zergballs trampling mass), but not nearly as fun.

On that note, maaaaybe it’s a good day to do something else. Northern spawn of ybbl now has 36 Kaineg zerballers camping it so…. Planetside 2 anyone?

Making money in GW2 is easy. Just do what I did:

Step 1: Spend all your money buying a ridiculous amount of holiday item skins.
Step 2: Sit on your kitten for 5-10 years living your life. This step is the easiest because it doesn’t even require you to log into the game.
Step 3: After said 5-10 years, log back in and sell all the holiday item skins, and you will probably be the richest player in the game.

Just looking at halloween skins, most of them increased in price between 500-1000% from halloween to christmas. I have already purchased several christmas weapon skins when they were trading for around 50c each, now most are 150c to 200c each, so they have already tripled in price just a month after the event ended. Afraid of becoming obsolete due to Ascended gear coming out? I’m not, because I know that by the time it does come out, I’ll be so filthy rich I can instantly put all my characters in max gear.

Okay, so why did all these Guilds transfer to Kaineng from high population servers to a lower one, only to rise to a higher population and back up the tiers? Simple answer, as they have explained over and over – Better WvW Community. Let’s leave it at that.

And, I seriously hope YB folks do not simply go back to PVE this week. Last night was fun and fairly evenly matched where I was, at the time I was on. Please keep coming out.

Hopefully it works out for Kaineng then. In my experiences playing MMO’s when you get mass transfers it usually ends badly cause there is no “cohesion” or “server pride” I guess is better way to put it, and the littlest drama happens, it turns into a nightmare.

I can only speak for myself, but I dont play during NA primetime much or very often though, so for me its always off hours. Right now, off hours are just like last week….and its spirit breakingly bad. Combine massive numbers against you with most of the names I normally see online not around so its not organized either.

While the transfers might have been great for some people, try to remember the flip side of the coin…..and realize its very nearly crushed the spirits of some of the people your fighting against. I just hope YB can get back to normal next week, I dont like PVE much and dont do it that often, and I wont pay for a transfer after all of this time being on YB since day 1 of headstart, so I may just move on to greener pastures with another game.

I feel the same way. Defending a wooden tower with 5 people and no siege against a 50 man zerg gets old really fast, and I’ve never been a PvE gamer. I’m going back to SC2 for now and will probably check back in a month or so to see if WvW is any better.

i thought that everything in this game is instanced. every single zone is an instance as far as i’m concerned. being able to walk from rata sum to iron marches without zoning would be an open world.

Sorry, but you’re mistaken. If you leave a zone and re-enter it, it doesn’t reset. All the same events are going on, all the boss monsters you killed are still dead, all the resource nodes you mined are still empty. It is a persistent world (the same conditions that were in place when you left will continue to persist when you return), which is the opposite of instanced. WvW is no different.

Except that WvW isn’t instanced.

CD can still make a comeback. All we have to do is create a recruitment thread and attach nothing but pictures of babes in bikinis. No text or anything. We’ll be tier 1 in no time.

My guild was Luxon: the side that was biased against in every from of faction vs faction format (only Luxon turtle and not Kurzick Juggernaut would bug in Jade Quarry, capture points were closer to Kurzick spawn in the supposedly neutral AB map). Fort Aspenwood was horribly balanced for a PvP mode. Luxons had to have a perfect team comp to win (they would still have diffuclty) and Kurzicks could win with just about anything (including the nigh unbeatable all healers).

That’s a fairly old tactic. They gave the turtles an enchant rip on their siege so bonding became pretty useless unless you managed to maintain a bunch of cover enchants.

Yeah, I haven’t played FA in awhile. Even then, it only took a necro with rend enchantments to break through since it allowed you to remove something like 10 enchants on a single target.

We are a very popular server, therefore it takes two websites to contain all of the awesomeness that is CD. We tried using just one, but it exploded.

I personally like pouring burning oil over 40+ golems and watching my screen fill up with numbers. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

I’ll support mounts as long as they only have 1hp, and killing the mount also kills the player. Then it’s a win win, all the mount people get to look cool riding around their unicorns and I get to accelerate my WvW kill count.

I understand why you’re seeing the zerg everywhere. FA has mass amounts of people on all the time, and CD is stuck in defense mode just to avoid losing so horribly that we leave people at the supply camps in an attempt to safeguard them. And because FA has so many people on, the odds of you seeing some at a supply camp are through the roof. Basically, it’s going to be stuck this way for the week, and if you’re thrown down a tier, you won’t have to worry about it for a week. But sadly, those of us at CD will be stuck with it…until FA hits T2 or we’re thrown down to T4 in your place.

Haha, actually they will have to deal with Kaineng which I think will be as bad as if not worse than FA. We are getting lucky, we just have to deal with FA for one more week and then we swap with Kaineng so that we never have to actually fight them. Of course we have to face Mag, but they seem to think they don’t have that many people so not sure how the match will pan out.

A zerg can’t be everywhere at the same time or it ceases to be a zerg. Knowing where the enemy zerg is at/or attacking, how long it will take them, and where they are likely to go next makes it very possible to do small group harassment in any kind of WvW environment. It just takes some map awareness and general knowledge about common WvW tactics.

GW3 will be out long before anyone achieves any of the WvW titles. I’m at 6.5k kills and I would say the last half year is above average because I played the game a LOT when it first came out, but even at this rate it will take me approximately 19 years to get the title.

The better question is do bandwagons go both ways. We commonly accept that you can join the bandwagon by transferring to a bandwagon server, but can you also join the bandwagon by leaving a non-bandwagon server? You could recruit for your server by appealing to non-bandwagon people… unless not being part of the bandwagon becomes the new bandwagon.

No. You go to WvW to take camps and towers to help your world. And NPC’s guard those camps and towers, not players. It is more beneficial to kill NPC’s in WvW than it is to kill other players. Therefore, WvW is PvE.

Second, if you think players don’t guard camps and towers you clearly have no idea what WvW is and I seriously doubt you have ever played it.
