I wonder if there will be a cool down on how many times an enemy can trigger the fear on spectral wall. If not, that will be the ultimate troll skill and I will definitely be incorporating it into my build.
TC, you are so cruel for killing such sweet and innocent creatures.
Quaggans are freaks of nature. I would have killed them myself, but they were on my server ><.
Only problem I have with upleveled chars is if I’m trying to have a 1v1 and I almost down the enemy, but wait, some random uplevel charges in and dies almost instantly so that once the enemy player does go down he gets a free rally giving him the short duration invulnerability and health advantage which usually results in my death. So now whenever I see the random uplevel charge blindly into a fight, I just sit back let the other guy kill him real quick and then engage. Occasionally you get them saying things like “Thanks for the help noob!”, but I prefer that to repair bills :p.
I would love this, and to quote from another like thread at link:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/Auto-loot-WvW-change/first#post2084835To prevent full inventory issues, have the bags themselves appear in your inventory as stackable items to 250. Then you can open them at your leisure later. The chests as well, they could be handled the same way. Imagine the fun opening your inventory and there’s a stack of a couple chests waiting for you…
Also, to you WvWers! Keep this thread alive if you want ANet to do anything about our loot bag issues!
But what if you got a heavy bag as a drop? You would have a bag inside a bag…
…gimmics like positioning and such…
This… is hilarious.
This has been said so many times before, but if you want 5v5 or small skirmishes then Heart of the Mists is available just for you.
You’re right, it has been said many times before and continues to be repeated despite it being completely incorrect. Hot-join sPvP and tPvP are not even remotely similar to small group WvW skirmishes. The people who think they are are the ones who have never tried small group WvW play and/or never tried sPvP/tPvP, which I’m guessing is an accurate description of you.
However, i’d have to point out how utterly unbalanced downed states are. Most professions can be finished with a simple Blind, because their interupt will then Miss. While some other professions (thief/ele/mesmer) dont care about anything and have a pretty much guarenteed “get out of jail free”-card.
Actually, for Mesmer since we can’t pick where it teleports us to the move actually doesn’t always work. It will sometimes teleport us even closer to the enemy or just beside him and because we are still close the stomp will still land. ALSO, the game feels it is important to put a giant red triangle above the real Mesmer so that doesn’t confuse anyone unless they are nooby.
It always works if you know how to use it. In addition to teleporting you to a random location it also briefly cloaks you, which will prevent stomps from finishing you even if you are right next to them. The mesmers who are getting defeated by the first stomp due to the random port location are the ones who spam their skill the second they are downed rather than waiting till right before the stomp lands, but mostly mesmers don’t do that unless they are nooby. Also, it doesn’t matter that it’s easy to tell which mesmer is the real one because the skill still allows you to prevent the first stomp from landing, which is as much as any other class gets.
I picture Maguuma as Archie Bunker from All in the Family, while TC is definitely Marie Barone from Everybody Loves Raymond. Seriously, try reading some of the TC posts in her voice, it’s spot on.
Better question. Is it fair that your stomp fails because a downed player turns invisible despite remaining in the exact same spot? It didn’t stop the Witch King when Frodo put on the ring of power.

@Waffler
Every server has bad players, whats your point? I could say the same for many of the players who basically backpedaled and stood in spot for my backstabs and did nothing to stop me from killing them 3v1 with ease. This doesn’t represent CD as a whole, it just means every server has bad players, or players who aren’t suited for that situation.
You shouldn’t assign a whole label on a server on their pvp competence based on 1 event, nor should you suggest WvW can ever be PvP meta, its Spvp that holds that crown, and it’s community.
I didn’t assign any labels to any servers. Brom made a statement that implied if you aren’t playing the PVT zerg game, then you are prancing around cosplaying. I provided an example to illustrate otherwise.
but PVT zerging isn’t the meta in WvW, it’s the meta in Tier 1/2
So… it’s not the meta in WvW, it’s just the winning meta in WvW?
Isn’t that, you know, one of the main objectives of meta? To determine winning strategies?
Wrong again. It’s the meta in Tier 1/2 because they have overwhelming amounts of players. In those tiers, even when servers split their forces up on any map, they will still end up with groups of 20-30 at least. In the lower tiers at most times during the day you may only have 5-15 players on an enemy BL map, so you will often have fights in the range of 3v3 to 6v6. In small group play PVT gear isn’t necessary because you can track all of the opponents you are fighting, take notice of their classes/builds, and read their actions to predict how they will attack you. This allows you to avoid all or most of their damage through well-timed dodges, blocks, blinds, invulnerability skills, evades, and interrupts which is one of the biggest differences between a good player and a bad one. When you are fighting 30 players, it is impossible to micro-manage them in this way resulting in you taking damage no matter how good your timing/reflexes are, which is why everyone is forced to wear PVT gear. If you have a typical 5v5 mid to low-tier fight over a supply camp, and one team wears all PVT, stacks up, and runs around in circles balled up while spamming AoE they would be destroyed.
If you dislike it, then you can pretty much except to be at a disadvantage. The Mists is at war. You can’t prance around a battlezone wearing your favorite My Little Pony cosplay.
I’m far from cosplaying when I go into WvW. Just this morning I went out to SoS BL where a CERN thief tried to cap the south camp so I killed him. He came back and tried again, and against I killed him. He came back a third time and killed all the NPCs, but when he saw me coming he just up and ran out of the cap circle and that was the last I saw of him. Next a group of 3 TC from random guilds came and tried to cap. I killed 2 of them and the third got to 1/2 health and ran off. Then a group of 4 TC from a guild called VSGo or something similar came and tried to cap. They managed to kill all the NPCs, but by that time I had either defeated or downed all of them, so I simply finished them off and rezzed the NPCs once again. They came back a second time, but this time they just stood at the edge of the camp surveying for awhile despite the fact that I was the only defender, unfortunately for them backup came and wiped them once again. I know it’s been awhile since TC has seen the lower tiers, but PVT zerging isn’t the meta in WvW, it’s the meta in Tier 1/2 and one of the most brain-dead forms of PvP I’ve ever seen.
This thread is depressing on so many levels. If CD ever “improves” to the level of TC where players have to do sentry duty, players must be on VoIP, players must run around in at least 15-20 man zerg balls dutifully following the commander, and players must all wear PVT gear with masses of AoE fields/finishers for their utilities… I will say that I will be one of the first to transfer off.
I spend almost all my time in SPVP but sometimes go out to WvW. You kind of get used to any solo guy in sPvP being tough – it’s why they are roaming, they are good at it and feel safe.
In WvW… even roaming guys explode in seconds.
In sPvP 90% are solid player vs player fighters or at least have enough experience to defend themselves. In WvW it seems the stats are reversed. But having said that… the top 1% of WvW would smash almost any player I see in sPvP so there is a brilliant top end who are insanely good.
I don’t know about that 90% statistic, I see tons of completely trash players in sPvP where if you offered me a million dollars to guess what their thinking was at the time, I wouldn’t have the foggiest idea. I see thieves in sPvP on a regular basis that do things like shadow refuge and go straight from stealth into 4x to 5x heartseeker spam on me while I was at 100% life. Completely bizarre. Granted there are a lot of terrible thieves in WvW, I would say the likelihood of any given thief being bad in sPvP is about the same as WvW.
News flash, every server has good and bad players.
Until servers try to convince others that they have more good players or that the others have more bad players, then threads become funny to read
Actually it is reasonable to assume that the percentage of total players that are bad remains constant across servers, and since your server population dwarfs ours, you have quite a lot more bad players than us.
On a serious note, CD where are you! We can share the pain together meng.
Mostly hanging out in the spawn. Every time I venture out to try cap something as easy as the north supply camp in home borderlands all I see is this.
I watched the first 1:15 minutes of the video and had to stop. The maker of the video didn’t even target one enemy during the zerg v zerg at the beginning. In other words, all he/she did was run forward and spam skills, ignoring everything else. He couldn’t even care less what the enemy players were even doing because he didn’t even target one of them!
How is that possibly any fun whatsoever?
That’s how zerg vs. zerg works. As a Guild Wars 1 vet who played in a top 100 GvG guild for awhile, zerg vs. zerg battles in this game are a joke and people who think they have mad PvP skills because they are on the winning end of these are kidding themselves. Targeting isn’t necessary because all your doing is following the commander in a big blob spamming all the AoE you can with the occasional fire field or water field finisher spam. Quite funny to watch, but I can’t wait to get back to mid-tier fights where 5v5 to 10v10 fights are relatively common.
full toughness armor, and i got surprised by this thief, dont even have time to WT happen? compare my damage, and hes damage.
I’m not sure what build you’re going for but those stats seem pretty terrible and I’m not sure how you managed them. The attached pic shows the stats of one BM ranger variant I use in sPvP which has 100 more attack, 150 more healing power, 300 more condition damage, and 500 more armor than your ranger. The crit chance and life is a little lower, but not near enough to make up for what you’re missing. Not to mention these are sPvP stats, so you can stack more stats with PvE gear especially with the availability of ascended gear and infusions. Moreover, you can get 25 stacks from weapon modifiers giving you another +250 stats and you can get another +260ish stats from using food buffs. All of this however is irrelevant as you said you were surprised by the thief, in which case yeah, if you aren’t paying attention then you will get hit for lots of damage by thieves. You have 2 dodge rolls (more if you run energy sigils), an evade on your short bow, more evades on a sword or gs or dagger, and lightning reflexes for yet another evade. Thieves are one of the easiest classes to take out as a ranger, so by all means try to get better.
The match making system isn’t the problem, the problem is servers have wildly different numbers of players on them, and the population differences continue to become larger as more players and guilds transfer off lower tiers in order to stack higher tiers. It would be like if you have 4 teams, one with 15 players, one with 12 players, one with 8 players, and one with 3 players and you need to come up with a way to match these teams together in a way that will create balanced match ups. The short answer is you can’t. I will say it isn’t helping that every time the top tier servers become full, Anet goes ahead and increases server population limits allowing even more players to stack at the top.
So do Necro’s too, and they’re top tier for large scale zerg or GvG battles, but not sure how they fair 1vX.
Necros are one of the most difficult classes to 1vX with, the other one being warriors, and against competent players I would say 1vX on a necro is near impossible. They simply don’t have the tools such as easy access to stability, invulnerability, invisibility, evade skills, mobility skills, and spamable condition removal that are abundant among the classes “skilled” players use when fighting multiple opponents. There are a few situations where I’ve won a 1v2 against lvl 80s such as when both classes are melee with low mobility such as guards allowing me to kite them around with marks and CC, or if you’re going against zerg-focused classes such as staff eles. However, if you happen to come across 2 players and one of them is either a mesmer or a BM ranger, my advice would be to run your kitten off.
Why a chance?
Well, if the enemy already got the debuff on him, the effect wont stack or refresh. So basicly you wasted 5 seconds, 15 badges and 10 supply for nothing. That’s not how it works, if an enemy walks over a stealth trap and is not in stealth then the trap will trigger but will have absolutely no effect. It has nothing to do with the thief already having the revealed debuff on him.
Wrong, if someone walks over it without being stealthed or already having the revealed debuff on him it still gives 30 seconds of revealed debuff. I’m 100% sure about that since I had it myself a couple of times with a full raid walking over it, having 30 seconds revealed debuff.
It would, after all, make the trap kinda difficult to design if (since it’s aoe revealed) the effect of the activation of the trap is only being triggered if someone in stealth would walk over it.
I have fought plenty of thieves 1v1 while using stealth traps on them. I have seen them run over the trap while visible triggering it and then stealth a couple seconds later on many occasions because the revealed debuff didn’t apply. I think a 1v1 is more conclusive than running around in a big raid because I know exactly who triggered the trap and I know whether they were in stealth or not at the time they triggered it.
Im on magumma and I hate megummer. The whole server is terrible cept like 100 people most of which are never together or in same guilds. Everyone else on the server amazes me that they even have motor functions to breath. Their reaction time and situational awareness makes me wanna cry just playing a game with them. I can’t even imagine driving a car on same road as these people, and whats shocking is they are likely out on roads everyday. I laugh anytime other servers call mag out for chest thumping about being good, mag isnt good at all where are you reading this? You likely make it up in your minds after you lose 1v1s and small fights to good mag players then in your anger about losing to even numbers you go on forums and cry about mag server chest thumping. Mag as a wvw server is awful and belongs in tier diddly squat. This pic sums up average mag player in a nut shell.
It’s WvW players in general. It never ceases to amaze me how completely oblivious most of them can be, especially the ones that just play in EB all the time. Sometimes I just sit there dead watching one player fight to see what they are actually doing and it will consist of 90% auto-attacks with a few random dodges thrown in that serve absolutely no purpose. That’s why I find myself preferring solo roaming more and more everyday.
Why a chance?

I am disappointed Shadowskill never posted the video of him owning us all
Perma-stealth thieves are over the top in WvW, which is why Anet created the stealth trap. They couldn’t nerf thieves directly because their 3-node capping game is still their main focus when it comes to PvP and class balance, and in that game mode perma-stealth thieves are completely useless. At first I was doubtful that the stealth traps would actually be useful, but after trying them out for a bit they are actually quite good for countering stealth abusing thieves. I’ve found they are most effective for defending camps as the thief is almost certain to trip the trap while running around kiting the npcs, but I’ve also used them in open field. Sometimes if I’m roaming in a certain section of a map I’ll place a stealth trap in a location off the main path a bit, and when a thief starts trailing me I can just bait him into the trap and easily kill him. Another good use is when a thief’s first attempt at killing you fails, they almost invariably use shadow refuge to regenerate health and get a long duration stealth for some breathing room. Thieves almost always stay in refuge for the full duration of 4 seconds, and it takes exactly 4 seconds to plant a stealth trap so the second a thief uses refuge you can just plant a stealth trap right on top of him which I’ve found almost always results in a trigger and the thief dying. I’ve actually planted several stealth traps right in front of thieves that were attacking me, and they still run right into them and end up dying. Anyway, my advice would be to try out using the stealth traps a bit, also it is ridiculously funny watching a thief run around in circles frantically trying to CnD mobs for stealth and using their stealth heal or shadow refuge while they have that 30 second reveal on.
15 badges is hard to justify spending on a single kill, I have yet to use one of these. 30s reveal is quite good though, I could see it being handy if you’re expecting a veiled zerg.
Maybe so, but I have over 8k badges and nothing to spend them on since ascended still cost predominately laurels, so I’ll happily spam stealth traps on troll thieves all day long to free up some inventory space
.
Well it was a great match up until about 2 hours ago when WvW kicked everyone, me and my friends couldn’t gain access to WvW but we could watch CD pretty much run threw the entire 3 maps capping, and nothing we could do about it, shame the final day was ruined because of that.
Good luck in your match ups next week.
lol! You are a pretty bad liar. I wasn’t even there to see it and I can tell that you are lying. First off, if this actually did occur there would be a lot more people than just you reporting it. But it seems that you are the only one to even mention this mass booting, so don’t say that everyone got kicked out. Secondly, you have provided no proof of this occurring. Anybody who experienced this would have taken a screenshot at least with the scoreboard showing CD capping all the entirety of the 3 maps, with a one of those pop-ups saying you can not access WvW at this time. Rather, you went to the forums about 2 hours later and made a post about it. Third, after reading your post I went into EB and checked the Yak’s Bend keep. It was fully upgraded T3. That can’t be done in a mere 5 hours, as far as I know.
If anybody has some proof this actually happened than I apologize. Good luck in your match ups next week.
You can always check out the server ppt over time here http://mos.millenium.org/servers/view/34/. That being said, it doesn’t really look like there is any time where CD went through capping everything without resistance.
I think Chris has had a coming of age experience. At the beginning of the matches with SoS and CD he was just another forum troll, and now he has transformed into CD’s number one cheer leader, one might even say a beacon of inspiration. Quite amazing.

JQ, HoD, SoR, SoS, BG, IoJ, ET, SBI, CD and now DB (hey, it still counts… kinda) … I think that’s the full T1 list. Of course, when you look at it, it’s pretty much all of the same people, just shifted around here and there. JQ was #4 once, actually… in September, I believe. But, anyway, not important in the grand scheme of things
CD was never T1, we started in T2 at the beginning of week long matches and then gradually moved down to where we are now.
Hope we get this match-up again, not only for the close scores but for the forum thread. The servers in the tiers above and below us would probably be good matches, but you go and scan their threads and it’s 95% idiotic garbage posts.
Well they shouldn’t be playing with rank 6 team. The system should work like this, YOU WIN you move up, YOU LOSE you move down, you don’t win or lose YOU STAY.
clearly you haven’t thought this through.
let’s go back to week 21, just before the new matchup system went into place.
JQ lost in tier 1, and TC won in tier 2, so JQ would go down and TC would go up. likewise, swap DB/Mag, YB/SoS, SBI/EB, AR/DH, IoJ/GoM and NSP/HoD. so we’d have these matches:
SoR / BG / TC
JQ / FA / Mag
DB / Kain / SoS
YB / CD / EB
SBI / BP / DH
AR / SF / GoM
IoJ / DR / HoD
NSP / FC / ETwhat do you think the outcomes would have been? let’s look at T1. SoR is beating TC by a ton this week. you’re actually complaining that SoR vs TC is a bad matchup, yet that is exactly what Winner Up Loser Down would have given you last week. do you really think that taking SoS out of the match and putting BG in their place would have helped TC do better? no, they’d be doing even worse because they’d be up against 2 tough opponents instead of 1 easy and 1 hard.
how about T2? FA is beating Mag this week by a ton. yet WULD would have put them together. even worse, it would have thrown JQ in there to pile on Mag as well.
the other tiers would mostly be similar (except YB/CD/EB would probably have been a good matchup).
so, what would happen the following week? TC would lose against SoR and BG and drop down. JQ would win against FA and Mag and come up. you would end up with SoR BG and JQ again, which is exactly the same matchup you started with. likewise with the other tiers — servers would mostly settle in the same positions they had the week before.
and the matches you consider “good” this week? not a single one of them would have happened under WULD (except maybe CD/YB/Kain, but only after several weeks and only if exactly the right wins and losses happened in exactly the right order).

This is amazing, I never realized intelligent people existed on the forums.
Is it just me, or is it always thieves attention whoring about how good they are at pvp?
No, sometimes it’s mesmers.
Don’t waste a dime on these, they’re a scam. Lesson learned, I certainly won’t ever buy another “random” item from the gem store ever again.
Yes you will. Anet has been selling the same RNG stuff in their gem store since the Halloween event last October right after the game released, if you haven’t learned by now then you never will.
Its the little engineer asura ive been killing for the last several hours. Your the one that keeps coming to the gate (Tagging it) to stop us from using the wp. I got some good video of me killing you……..all them bags. Hope to see more of you before server change (Could always use the extra loot).
From,
(Pro) P/D Thief Kwangtungtiger
If you think that you can solo me then bring it (just more video footage and bags for me).
Once im done with the video i’ll send you the video so you can re-live all those great moments again.
Just made another video of you getting stomped the first time i saw you this morning. Then the 10 min video of you running around hiding behind walls just trying your hardest to tag that wall.
I have been anxiously awaiting this video for some time now. . . I would like to compare your toon to a P/D thief I had a tussle with just north of Bay on one of the Borderlands this week.
You weren’t just making that kitten up to be cool, were you?
I make kitten up all the time to be cool, its what all the cool people do.
Got Dragon Coffer from player
Confirmed, players can drop dragon coffers. You may now stop your QQ about anet not caring about WvW.
“I am a God at PvP in this game, you guys should just stop attacking me and let me JP farm my badges because I will easily kill you”
There is a way to discourage zerging, it’s called add body blocking. Here is a video illustrating a mindless zerg getting owned because of body blocking.

Supply is always the bottle-neck in WvW, not blue prints. A couple of well placed supply traps and you could’ve been laughing at their half-built rams and wiped their 50-man with an arrow cart or 2.
You can say one thing though, it’s a real challenge. Pretty much for any player not playing Mesmer, Thief, or still Ele is pretty good. Anyone playing those 3 who boast of roaming in WvW are on easy-mode and its pretty amusing they think they are accomplishing something hard.
You forgot BM Ranger.
I know they are beastly, but actually don’t see many in WvW. Think most are in sPVP? I did run into a great one once and it was very unpleasant, before the empathetic bond nerf which was even more nightmare vs condi.
I’ve run into a few and they are nearly impossible for me to kill, I would say a more difficult match-up than even a mesmer. I run a pretty boon-strip heavy build too, but because their boons, especially regeneration, are applied frequently in short durations rather than infrequently in long duration like the guardian, it is pretty much impossible to keep them stripped for more than a second or 2. The WvW scene seems to be pretty slow when it comes to recognizing good PvP builds, so I think they will probably become more and more common in the future as people realize how good they actually are.

I’m a necro and I never find enemy necros when I roam. Most of the time I find thieves that run/cloak away when they are about to lose and I can’t do anything about it due to poor mobility of the class.
The trick to dealing with running thieves is to have relatively long duration fears and get really good at timing them. Most thieves will have the stealth heal skill and shadow refuge, so the second they do the heal skill animation (looks like a fist pump type thing on human males, which most seem to be) you switch to death shroud and use #3 instantly. When that fails and they try to use shadow refuge, you switch to staff and use #5 instantly and they will get feared out of the refuge before they can stack any stealth. As for preventing cloak and dagger it comes down to kiting them with cripple/chill, and using blind skills on them. Also you need to be using the locust signet to make sure you have the same movement speed of the thief since they all run signet of shadows. So by denying stealth and keeping movement speed CC on them, the thief should go down before they can escape.
I’m a necro roamer on CD. The reason you don’t see any is because they are one of the most, if not the most, difficult class to roam with. No invulnerability, no invisibility, no evade skills, no mobility skills on any of their weapons, and extremely limited access to boons, especially stability. Oh, and also their downed health is bugged so that it’s only 33% of what it should be. I enjoy the challenge though, I started off playing a guardian but found the class to be very forgiving of mistakes which I thought was pretty cheesy, so I switched to necro :p.
Your reaction to some anonymous individual making an unfavorable comment about you in a video game is to quit playing? You must live a very difficult life.
It is pretty funny that necros actually die faster to regular auto-attacks than they would if someone tried to stomp them. In most cases, when I go down on my necro I’m dead before I can even see the downed state skills on the screen.
Not nearly as entertaining as Reiko vs. Jakob, at least there we got video footage and bizarre insults.
They are there so that thieves can aggro them all and then stealth to train them on you giving them the advantage in a fight… and then if they ever need to escape the random animals provide a free CnD so that they can stealth away.
I’m actually surprised about the CD win… honestly thought they were going to lose based on their past performance…
I guess their early morning population is carrying the match for them.
This one

And a few seconds later…
I’m enjoying the new match up, even if a handful of Yaks Bend players spam /laugh when they kill me 4v1.
That’s one thing I miss about SBI and SOS, it’s actually been impossible for me to find a fight against anything less than 3 YB players at a time. Makes solo-roaming in YB BL pretty annoying.
