Sparki’s Flame Blast does about 4.5k damage (if you get hit by both projectile and AoE) every 4 seconds which results in 1.125k DPS. If average ranging guy understands to dodge back when getting pulled in, there isn’t really any other damage source.
If Sparki rotates his aggro and average ranging dude occasionally dodges then Sparki will do really low DPS to him.

And now compare to Slick. Few puddles up and pretty much everyone takes 600 DPS. And there’s nothing you can do about it.

Few times I have pugged they have always wanted to kill Sparki first because of “guides”. Then we proceed to wipe ~5 times until they are willing to kill Slick first which usually works at first attempt.

Killing Slick first is definitely easier. Once he is dead it’s really hard to wipe no matter how bad your team is. Unlike killing Sparki first which causes way too much oil for pugs to handle.

And not sure if mentioned, but blocking a gear prevents it from appearing which is really useful when reviving people.

There is no integrity in the dungeon system so not sure why anyone would care about selling. Just makes me bit sad to know what we could have if the system was well designed.

You really can’t expect random people to hold your hands or be nice to you. I mean sure, I would do that but half of the people are more evil than an average person.

Do what you can to help yourself. Find friends/guilds, make a clear lfg telling your intentions (preferably with CAPS so all idiots are able to read it), keep spamming them that it’s a casual run and so on.

I wonder what people consider better:

1) Current skill
Don’t use the skill when the opponent is over 50%, use it when he gets below 50%

2) Buffed normal damage
Don’t use the skill when the opponent is over 50%, use it when he gets below 50%
or
Use it for slightly increased damage and risk not having it ready if the opponent gets below 50%

Yes, if you don’t gear up people with better gear will do more damage. That’s how progression works.

I have no idea whether sigils downscale. Assuming they don’t, Sigil of Force causes 4% damage difference. Hardly gamebreaking.

Downscaling already works quite efficiently. If you are perfectly geared (level 35 with rare gear) then you will have about the same stats and actually bit more armor than level 80 with berserker exotics (critical damage is worthless). Only real difference is the traits.

Damage wise there is no major difference. But why would people run with people who are potentially very inexperienced and lack lots of gear? And even if lower and higher levels were exactly same people would still blame lower levels. Only way to make lower levels wanted is to buff them absurdly which would make leveling actually harmful.

At level 35 your base stats are 256. Level 35 rare armor gives 29 stat points (11.3% of base stats).
At level 80 your base stats are 916. Level 80 exotic armor gives 101 stat points (11.0% of base stats). Level 80 ascended armor gives 106 stat points (11.6% of base stats).

Stats scale based on base stat value on that level. Level 80 has exactly 256 base stats on level 35 dungeon. Stats from gear behave similarly. 101 stat points from exotic armor become 101*256/916 = 28 stat points (which is actually less than from rare gear, probably because of rounding).

No I didnt mention his melee only attacks because those can be evaded, blocked with aegis, reduced with prot, ignored with block skills etc etc. When melee stacking him, those are all a given. The arrow was mentioned because in comparison from melee to ranged attacking him, the arrow is the prime concern as it contains agony, burning and AoE flame blasts (since your not melee him ’natch). WoR makes it hit him instead, or didnt you know that? And since you want to be precise it seems, dont forget his AoE attacks too that you run/evade out of.

You said “go do it”. I’ve stated “I’ve already done it both ways”. Results were Melee was easier and faster. Then you pull the “oh thats trivial” line, to try and invalidate the response. That’s pretty much an informal fallacy.

Your contending that melee is riskier. Im saying its only risky if you have not L2p.

First of all, I didn’t tell you to do anything (you may want pay more attention to names you are responding to).
Secondly, while it’s always cool to tell people l2p it isn’t very smart thing to do if you don’t consider scale 30 trivial.
Finally, you can also block/evade the arrow so makes no sense to ignore other attacks based on that. Also lots of people have sufficient AR so the arrow isn’t their biggest worry (also wasting anti projectile skills on the arrow is a mistake, which of course doesn’t matter on trivial content). There is a far more dangerous melee only attack.

So you have meleed Imbued Shaman but somehow completely forgot his melee only attacks on your analysis? How convenient.

And anyways scale 30 is trivial. Not to mention world bosses with zerg, just afk at range, no need to even dodge.

Does melee users get more trait points or how do they get access to more survivability traits?

Also especially in PvE it is quite obvious that ranged has less risk. There is just no hard enough content to show it. Feel free to point me one non-trivial encounter which favors melee. Ashym and Imbued clearly favor ranged.

Sometimes you also get people who just follow the meta blindly without even knowing why. A good example is people, including the runners, running Zerker in collosus when most of the fractal really isn’t about damage. Even in level 39, getting themselves wiped every 10 seconds from almost unavoidable 2k explosions.

Explosion damage doesn’t appear on combat log and doesn’t get prevented by Endure pain so it’s not normal damage. That leaves either pure damage which ignores armor or percent damage which ignores armor and scales with health. I suspect latter because that’s what they have used a lot recently which means your toughness has no effect and vitality just makes it worse.

There was this one guy, haviz.1340 (long time ago).

Basically I needed Arah tokens really bad because I needed leggings to finish my mix&match-armorset. I joined one group (I think it was like “warr/guard only” or something) on my Warrior. I hadn’t done it before and looked up some guides before going in, I even told them I was new and it was ok.
Unfortunately I didn’t prepare enough (hadn’t done much dungeons back then) and did really bad (was also lagging a bit). I didn’t know what to look for and it was really hard when they all just suddenly started running through the enemies. That haviz guy was also on the team and he gave me helpful tips all the time. I did what I could to learn and we were able to proceed (Lupicus was a real pain).
Then after this Alphard dude two of them suddenly stopped and told me how I suck and how they just carried me through the dungeon (sure, they were right but why not bring this up earlier if it’s a problem?). They asked me to give them 2g each or they kick me (they said I get end reward anyway and it’s to cover their wasted time). I was genuinely shocked and had no idea what to do (didn’t really have money back then). I had done my best and tried and now I just get booted?
Suddenly haviz whispers me and tells me to kick one of them. I was really confused at that point and just did what he told. Few seconds later I see loading screen and I’m out of the dungeon. I asked haviz what happened and he said that we kicked the instance owner and everyone got booted. It was hard for me to understand what he had done. He could have just finished the dungeon but instead he also booted himself wasting his own time.
And even after that, he asked if I wanted to come with him for another run (just think about time/effort he had spent on me). He had some of his friends with him and it went really smooth and I got my leggings.

Ok, this actually wasn’t true but great story though!

Legendary Scarlet Magical Missile Tower Infra Structure (bit long name so let’s call it LSMMTIS instead).

On middle of a maze. Wooden pole with Scarlet’s (organic, this is after you beheaded her but she still escaped) head on top of it. LSMMTIS is protected by a magical barrier. You can only enter and attack her with 5 love points. Every 25% her heads gets bigger and bigger and her voice louder and louder, at 0% it explodes and reveals Trahearne inside.

“Play time”: She laughs like an idiot and shoots a missile at every player. Missiles move very slow, can’t be attacked, blocked or evaded and are heat-seeking. They are also smart enough to navigate the maze. When they hit you get downed. If you were downed you get defeated. If your missile hits someone else Scarlet loves you and you get one point. If your missile defeats someone you will rally. If missile doesn’t have a live target it will self-destruct. Cooldown: when all missiles have hit someone or after 300 seconds

“DIE DIE DIE”: Her eyes glow red. Alive players with the highest score divide 100% of damage (if one player he takes 100% of his max health, if 2 players they take 50% each, and so on). Cooldown: 60

“I’M SO FUNNY”: No visual cue. Teleports every player to random location. Cooldown: when someone gets defeated.

Likely it won’t “convert” damage but rather give a small heal for each hit received. The question is whether it will negate the damage from hit received: if yes it is yet an other OP skill for warriors in PvE.

As for the elem skill, if it has a 25s cd like datamined, it will fit very nicely into my D/F optimal rotation.

Not very OP if you have to give up your healing skill for it. Against bosses you are able to eat like one attack. So you sacrifice your healing skill for one extra “dodge” every 35 seconds.

It is more than one dodge: 3 seconds actually equals 4 dodges!
From the numbers I see in the gw2db the healing per hit seems quite substantial.

Most of the enemies and bosses have at least 2 seconds between their attacks. And quite often that number is 3+ seconds.

If you are willing to spend 4 dodges on one attack, then yes, that healing skill is worth of it.

I think dungeon selling sucks because either

a) dungeon is way too easy to solo/duo
b) exploits
c) kicking is overpowered as a mechanic (too high reward/effort)
d) system which allows skipping skill checks

This is the 2nd post like this in which you’ve posted a similar comment. So I can only assume you are just trying to be a troll here as there is NO WAY you can justify kicking peeps at the last fractal boss in order to ‘sell the fractal’ or whatever (bad) reason you can come up with. (Or hopefully you’re just being sarcastic?)

I’m serious. If developers intended you to get rewards without actually beating the final challenge then they would give you them. End rewards are supposed to be given AFTER killing the end boss. You haven’t killed the boss so you don’t deserve those rewards.

• The arms seals do not properly reset to 2 chanters on each side in case of a wipe. This is mildly annoying in the 30’s for a good group. This is pretty tough in the 40’s and will only get more difficult for unorganized groups as progress into the 50’s and beyond begins to happen. This was supposed to have been fixed months ago but that promised change appears to have not happened and been forgotten.

One side seems to reset properly so it’s not that big issue anymore.

Molten Bosses:
- AoE effects are centered around Berserker so if he teleports they will also reposition (so you may get “randomly” hit). Visually it works fine.

COF gives 1.2 gold; FOTM lv. 31 gives 1.3?

They already stated why – because it’s a more suitable option for the fight. It’s a bad fight to melee in, since there is more DPS downtime (leaving melee range, the boss invulnerable during the AoE attack), and you can’t DPS the adds while kiting if you’re melee. Longbow is (imo) the most suitable weapon, since you have two large-radius AoEs that do a hefty amount of damage, as well as being able to Blind the boss (making arrows miss) and use Bleed/Immobilize during the add phase. You already stated that you went melee purely because it’s too easy at 48 otherwise.

5 man would also be more suitable.

We wanted to melee it because of higher risk. Ranged would have been really boring.

I admit, meleeing Shaman isn’t my “normal” approach during 48 daily runs and whatnot. But after Define released their full melee video and then again when you released your duo video, I tried melee and it wasn’t difficult enough to make a ranged duo 80 kill seem like they cheated somehow. It’s much easier than something like Legendary Archdiviner, where you literally (I timed it) have to press dodge in 0.2 seconds on his non-leap melee hits to avoid taking ~5k damage at the old 48.

No one is talking about cheating. The truth is melee has higher risk which makes it more impressive. Also only reason this was brought up because someone said our meleeing was a mistake and people acting so high about their ranging.

Important thing is that because they ranged and we meleed the fights aren’t comparable. They ranged for easier difficulty, we did 48 for easier difficulty.

I can’t remember exact numbers, but me and an Elementalist were messing around on 80 Shaman a couple of days before the patch, I’m 99% sure it was over 10k damage per hit (I checked my combat log at the time). I can remember, because I then went to re-trait Missile Deflection to see if I could burst them down a bit with their own damage and was disappointed that it “only” did 1-2k damage when reflected. Unfortunately I didn’t take any screens or record it.

In my opinion the whole concept of random fractals is absurd because it allows lucky streaks (while possibly making the run really long). Especially with the instabilities.

If the only point is get enough gear then just prevent entering unless your party has enough AR. And then remove Agony because it is really pointless at 1% ticks.

That would at least make some sense.
