I think it’s good strategy for EBay and YB to gang up on us, it can be beneficial to both of them, even if it can be a damaging to our morale (which it must be, I don’t see the queues I used to). Wars are not won on manpower alone, a bit of diplomacy can change the tide of battle. If EBay and YB are working together, that’s part of the game. The only thing that bugs me is that SBI seems to have become the ‘big bad guy’ when we’re just another server trying to win. How did we become so disliked, a few forum comments aside?

Meta gaming is one thing (largely possible thanks to Anet posting the match schedule publicly so YB and EB know they are together again next week too) but if you’re going to meta game at least get someone who can do it properly. Had you forced SBI to finish third it would have been that much easier for YB to finish above SBI overall for season 1 depending on placement next week, allowing EB to finish third leaves the door open for YB to finish ranked below SBI when you didn’t have to leave that available.

Getting EB into second place was also within YB’s power to do. At this point YB is so far ahead that unless they get 0 ppt until reset and SBI gets 695 ppt for the rest of the week (impossible) YB will finish first, EB is only trailing SBI by around 10k and yet tonight SBI takes EB’s stuff and is widening the gap. YB essentially donating their BL to EB would have made an SBI second place finish all but impossible with EB’s ppt being too high to catch and two servers to defend it. In either case YB still finishes first and thus in all practicality loses nothing at all for doing this.

Which raises an interesting question.

EB, why are you so content to just accept your fate as the peasants upon whom YB plant their flag? What do you get out of this? YB has the opportunity to help you boost your stats as well yet they are quite content to just let you finish last and EB, you seem so content to just let YB stand on your chest and kitten in your mouth. All partnerships have some inequity and it is easy to see what YB gets out of this, you on the other hand get nothing but the privilege of letting YB kitten on you without so much as raising a hand to you. This is doormat to the highest power.

Then again, I don’t recall calling either of you smart enough to figure these things out on your own or even implying it.

Coming to Silver league has given us the opportunity to bring a taste of the upper tiers to the lower tiers. The result was many tears.

What I liked

• Matchup variety
• Rivalries with servers that are close in rating (at least at the beginning of the season) with EB/BP
• The competitive spirit of our hard-core YBers that rallied the troops even in our down weeks
• Rallying from 6th seed at the beginning of the season to finish in the top 2-3

What I didn’t like

• Too many blowout PPT scores (We didn’t finish closer than +/-59k points to another server in a single match, and the 1st to 2nd place score differences in our matches varied from 86k to 259k)
• 1st place in all the leagues was not highly contested
• The season meta achievements did not encourage team play
• Imbalances in the schedules (example – Dragonbrand had to play Stormbluff Isle and Fort Aspenwood 3 times each, but Stormbluff Isle and Fort Aspenwood only played each other 2 times)

I actually don’t mind YB players being happy about their performance this week, but I’d like them to keep in mind that it’s not a result of anything they are doing internally but rather what they are doing via map politics with Ebay. Map politics and 2v1s are part of the game, and if you want to do them to win it’s completely understandable. If you guys got the organization to pull off a consistent 2v1 you should do it and you’ve done it well, but don’t pat yourselves on the back for beating us and saying how much your server has improved when at the end of the day you are just a bunch of 2v1 tower huggers, and when you dare to come out of your tower it’s in blobs of 50-60 “guild groups” (I’m looking at you [One]/]SE]).

The anger is strong in this one, but do you have what it takes to be in the Evil Empire?

YB and ebay get stomped in all even encounters and 2v1s inside stonemist and are still so delusional to think that they aren’t being massacred. Just as an FYI, the mysterious green/blue/pink keys also drop from the toxic seed boxes that you can purchase up to 5/day for 750 glory in the Heart of the Mists from the rank glory vendors. I get 0-2 keys per day from 5 boxes.

Unfortunately, those require doing PvP. :P

Daily PvP is a good way to get extra achievement points, and these toxic seed boxes are a good sink for my 100k glory lol, not to mention hot-join is much easier than running the 3rd level gauntlet if you don’t have a group to run with.

Based on playing Dragonbrand last week, who we (Yak’s Bend) demolished in PPT overall, but who has certain times (7 AM – 12 PM EST) that they can flood all the maps with coverage, during weekdays (they took all our stuff during that time), seeing their current score (615 ppt) is not at all out of the ordinary, or indicative of a conspiracy (we certainly didn’t allow DB to take all our stuff during those times).

That works for me, or perhaps a random player on the 5 person team is sent to spawn until the teams are balanced.

Take a simple example like making a cup of coffee and do this speaking out loud.

What I’m interesting in hearing is:

If you’re a T1 server is it fun facing rank 4, 5, 6 or would you rather have T1 fights?

If you’re T2 is it fun fighting T1 or would you rather fight the top 3 of silver?

If you’re T3 is it fun fighting the other silver or would you rather fight against T2?

If you’re T4 or T5 is it fun fighting T3 or would you rather have T4/5 be its own league?

I’m on Yak’s Bend, which entered the season as T4, but has since jumped up to T3. We are in a bad spot, relatively speaking, since we could be considered stacked against any servers T4 or lower (based on the league so far battling EB, BP and DB), but would get crushed by the other T3 servers (FA and SBI) or anyone higher. Every match so far in the league, we either won (or are winning) or lost by 100k+.

However, if you are talking about more than just playing for PPT, then I am having fun regardless of the score. Though we do get poorer turnout during the blowout losses vs. the blowout wins, so putting us against all T2/T3 servers would severely impact our morale.

An engineer probably can make it through Frostgorge to Fireheart Rise, even at level 76. From Wayfarer Foothills entrance, you can go north, skirting to the west of the Grawl groups, and up to the Kodan settlement, then bear east (but stay on the western slope of the dividing mountain in Trionic Lattice) and jump up to the tops of the canyons and stay on the upper level where there are no mobs for quite a ways, and IIRC, you can use Rifle #5 Jump Shot to stay on the upper portions of the canyons and only deal with a few actoduses rather than dodge the gauntlet of imps and elementals and trolls in the canyon floors. Once you get out of the canyon, just go to the Earthshake Waypoint and go south east, and you won’t encounter any more hostile mobs until you reach Fireheart.

ETA: I tried this on my engineer and verified that you can get through the canyons in Frostgorge to the Fireheart entrance without encountering any level 80 mobs.

You have to rank up in wxp levels to get an extra chest. You’ll get one extra chest per rank level, depending on your servers place at end of week.

Edit: I just noticed my rank 1 warrior has 3 bonus chests in the backlog. Is that related to this?

You are better off opening the bonus chests on a higher ranked character, since the low ranks (1-5) in WxP get less loot – I’ve gotten just 15 minute WxP boosters when opening the bonus chests on low ranked toons.

Can you list the traits that you have active, and what sigils and runes you have equipped? Does this also happen if you jump into the body of water in the Heart of the Mists? This may help troubleshoot this issue.

Each account can farm it once per day. It is in all your home instances but in different locations in each.

If some of you BP players are complaining THIS much about YB’s zergs, I hate to see how much you guys will when you go up against SBI and FA….

SBI did outnumber us a lot, but they did not flash build 3+ superior ACs in open field before zerg on zerg.

I’m looking forward to the FA and SBI matchups. We may get stomped by them but we can learn a thing or two.

Actually SBI has been building flash siege. It hasn’t helped them at all in open field fights though.

When you play them…do exactly the opposite of what they do. Best WvW advice I can give you.

When you play us, pay attention closely. You can and will learn things. Like the following:

If you see more than one of us, and you are in a group of ten or less. Then you better run away or into a tower(in the unlikely case of you actually owning one) .

If you see more than ten of us and you have a group of 10-30, just type /sleep and accept your fate.

If you see more than 15 of us(this will most likely be your experience), then just uninstall the game. It rarely gets better and we will be there to hurt your feelings.

Aha, I suspected as much when I saw I only had 8 rather than the 25+ I was expecting.
In which case I suppose it is one of the harder achievements to get unless you hog siege with that tier 5 mastery like I do.

This does not match what I have experienced. I have demolished several gates and gotten credit in this category, and this is without using siege (not once in this match have I used a ram or other siege on a structure that I was capping) , but rather just dpsing the gate with regular weapon skills.

Considering the way that Countess Anise went behind Logan’s back to protect Jennah during the Queen’s Jubilee Opening Ceremony, I would not qualify her as very charming.

However, you can go for more nuance – the personality page on the wiki lists 10 sub-types of personality, with mixes of charm/dignity/brute. Based on her performance during the Queen’s Jubilee, I would rank her as somewhere between Militant (10% charm, 45% dignity, 45% brute) and Honorable (25% charm, 50% dignity, 25% brute).

I think you can complete the meta-achievement without “A Stomping Good Time” by doing some of the daily achievements related to the Meta (especially considering there are only 7 Blood and Madness achievements currently doable, but 13 required for the Meta).

You can always go to WvW where you would be leveled up to 80, and see if your server is running a WxP train, where they go around capturing camps and towers, which are all guarded by veterans.

Confirmed. Followers are people that have added you as a contact, that are not in your contacts list. And there is no such thing as “friend requests”, since no permission is required to add someone as a contact.

From what I understand, you can prep the zerg before the event starts by casting a bunch of frost bows for them, that won’t expire until used, and help out in turret and battery defense during the actual fight, where crit will be helpful.

I want to propose my own build/tactic for Rangers. It will give you constant high damage by evading most of the dragon attacks.
Main point is that you must stand out of waves and fear range. So we need Longbow with 1500 range (taken in traits). In this distance the only thing you need to worry is poison areas, but they can be easily evaded as you are standing not in the crowd and you will have only a few of them during fight.
Another thing is that in this safe place you can have spirits stand near you most of the time.
Also I found not much profit from pets attacks, as they die to fast. So I just use Jungle Stalker to give me Might in combination with Bountiful Hunter trait.
So here is my build based on Longbow and Spirits:

Some explanations:
Steady Focus – most of the time you don’t need to evade anything, so you will have +10% damage with this trait
Eagle Eye – for 1500 longbow range
Primal Reflexes – there is no other useful traits in Adept for this branch, but this one at least will sometime affect Steady Focus
Quick Draw – used for faster cooldown of Rapid Fire (longbow skill 2)
Vigorous Spirits – higher chance for profit from spirits
Strength of Spirit – increases Power characteristic, as it is most usefull one for this encounter
Hunter’s Tactics – constant +10% damage as we always stands from the side of dragon
Bountiful Hunter – most usefull trait for last 5 points we have. By using pet with Might boun and using Healing Spring all the time, we will have +5% damage most of the time.
Quickening Zephyr – to increase damage from Long Range Shot, which is you main skill
Frost Spirit – 70% change to get +10% damage with a hit
Sun Spirit – 70% change to make dragon burn with a hit
Spirit of Nature – there is no very usefull elite skills for ranger himself, but with this one you can help other player when lot of them was downed by some attack

During fight you must use mostly skill 1. Skill 2 and all the utilities must be used as often as possible. Keep an eye on a poison areas that can appear under you and bouns that you should try to have all the time. Mostly that’s all. Hope this will be helpfull for someone)

Agreed (with most of this). When Yak’s Bend defeated Teq, I played a support role, stacking on our commander rather than standing away from the crowd, using Frost and Stone spirits and healing spring (instead of relying on burning which has a stack limit) and Blue Moa and Fern Hound on passive for their boons.

All PVP gear is exotic, and you can get replacement armor/weapons/sigils/runes for free from the Armor and Weapon vendors in the Heart of the Mists.

If you right click on a PVP armor piece or weapon, and there is no “deposit collectible” option, that means it is a basic item and can be deleted if you don’t want it. Or, if you do want it, and don’t have PVP armor/weapons equipped (which you can only view when in the Heart of the Mists), go to the Heart of the Mists and equip it. If you right click on a PVP armor piece or weapon, and there is a “deposit collectible” option that is greyed out, it means you already have that piece in your PVP locker (located in the Heart of the Mists, where you can store all PVP collectible loot such as armor and weapons, sigils, runes, Mystic Forge components, PVP salvage kits, etc).

• Watch the Pax preview video on youtube. Even though the group failed, you can learn the individual tasks needed to battle Tequatl successfully.
• For individual players, focus less on precision/crit/condi dmg and more on power/survival/team support builds.
• Arrive at the event before it starts, and form up in parties/squads that will each complete specific tasks, such as guarding the turrets or rushing the dragon.
• Use voice comms (which many servers use for WvW) if available.

Every time I go to farm an ancient sapling near the Slough of Despond Waypoint, a Quaggan runs up wailing that the Icebrood are attacking Moshpoipoi, please help! in a very high pitched, drawn out manner. Ugh! I like the Quaggans but it is just too much, especially since ancient nodes are so profitable now to run all my alts to them.

Thought id say good fights last night in EBG. Might I give some pointers to you guys on Yaks and Kaineng.

Yaks.. you guys had a MONSTER zerg last night.. why did you take towers and your keep back yet you abandon it for nothing? You left everything you took defenseless and we recaped them in no time. With the numbers you had you could have done a lot more, the golem rushes were pretty good but you guys didnt use mesmer portals to speed them up very well, we were able to pick them off fairly easy. When it comes to your zerg, you all scatter to the 4 winds when you meet resistance, try to stack up, share buffs and stability when you charge in, several times I took a group half as big and destroyed the integrity of your zerg due to that. You all had a hell of a zerg, just got to learn how to control it!

Kain, you guys are unfortunate to not have the numbers we do, you did have a good zerg size bout an hour before i logged off and you pushed on overlook, however you did the same thing as yaks did, scattered, and didnt stack up. Once again we were able to take a smaller group, pierce through your front line and decimate the integrity of the zerg. You also were slow to get the golems going on the gates. Use those mesmer portals, they are your friend! Also keep them together so they move as a group so when they hit the gate they are 10 x more effective.

To kain and yaks, learn how to do defensive tactics, make sure you siege up your towers and especially the keep to defend against attacks. Im sure you were low on supply but yaks, you guys took camp after camp and had a ton of supply yet no defenses. Its good to take stuff but holding it, is much more difficult and if you can hold towers and keeps, you will be far more successful. Also learning siege placements and knowing how to use hit and fade attacks to draw an enemy into a bad position to give you the upper hand is really important.

Lastly, physiological warfare. Holding a zerg in one position while stacked and not moving whilst you watch can be devastating. Then when the zerg dissapears or charges in together tightly packed, it can make people run, and it does, people get scared of a pixel death. Teamwork guys, it works.

Im just making suggestions, there are many different ways of doing things and such and also when you dont have the manpower it limits what you can do. Motivation is everything as well, a non motivated zerg is a weak zerg. Communication is key, if you dont use communication, you will lose. We followed yaks every move last night as they had a huge zerg moving about and defended 2 golem rushes.

oh.. and those two thieves this morning.. nice try, you thought you could get me bahahah! Good fight!

Except for NW tower and Garrison in DBBL (once), and Lowlands (once) I didn’t see a lot of defending either last night for the several hours I was in WvW (against our WxP train)

Also, I think you mean psychological, not physiological.

What exactly isn’t working? The screen shot indicates that you turned on the commander function, as shown by the words “You are a commander” and the button to disband your squad. The main functions provided are a squad chat channel, extra icons for your personal waypoints, and /supplyinfo and /squadinfo chat commands, and the blue icon that marks you on the map which can be seen by other allied players.

It seems that the cultural charr ability “battle roar” (gives fury to allies) doesnt work with guardian trait “pure of voice”, since it does not turn conditions into boons when using the shout, at least not on the guardian himself.

Has anyone made the same experience?

Mystery! Materials that have not sold in TP, for example, Glob Elder Spirit Residue and Lump of Mithrillium, so do not understand how it is possible.

Items made from the globs and lumps, like deldrimor steel ingots, deldrimor steel plated dowels, spiritwood planks, etc., can be bought/sold on the trading post, and are used for the actual weapons.

There are 5 easy to reach chests in Wayfarer Foothills as well (jumping puzzle, 2 Jotun caves, 2 Svanir caves).

Are the items that you are trying to sell or deposit in a safe box/invisible bag?
