Charr Ranger of the Iron Legion
(edited by Winespring Brother.2970)
@drkn – Hydra Queen = Taidha Covington, located in Laughing Gull Island in Bloodtide Coast (there is an event chain to defeat her)
@penatbater – there are kids in costume around the Lion fountain in LA asking for candy corns, giving tot bags in return

I’ve seen a lot of server lag at some world events (particularly the Claw of Jormag) that gets so extreme that I am unable to cast skills. I suggest having a lower population limit on some of these maps (Frostgorge, Sparkfly) to help deal with this. There would still be more than enough players to complete the event even if a lot of them were elsewhere in the map due to these events’ popularity, but not too many as to overload the server. And perhaps, the overflow servers could retain the main map’s event timing so that the players moved to the overflow server could also participate in the meta-event.
Use basic or fine (for level 80) transmutation stones, available from daily rewards, map completion, black lion chest (or possibly other sources).
Did you try the Asura Lab in the middle/western edge of Timberline Falls?
This, the merchant name is Danka and she is inside the lab by Fisher’s Eye Bridges.
I believe it is sold by Tactician Draga in Highpeaks but I am not 100% sure (might be a different tier). I also found tier 7 orbs in Talabaroop Waves and Despond Precipice.
Experience from renown hearts will scale up, but the cash reward is fixed. And there is a chance that loot from trash mobs will scale up also.
There are 3 grawl renown NPC’s in western Fireheart Rise that sell huntsman (as well as other profession) recipes for level 65 rare weapons.
If I am in perpetual combat mode but there are no mobs around, I log out and back in, and this breaks combat mode (was the only way I could finish up the Wall Breach Blitz).
Someone just posted that they forged a Dawn with 4 carrion krait slayers, so it is possible with crafted weapons.
I bought them from an Ogre merchant across the bridge to the west of Grostogg’s Kraal Waypoint in Ebbing Heart Run.
I completed the world map but didn’t get my gifts until I went to the Chantry of Secrets (even though I had been there previously and unlocked the POI).
Update 2:
Sounds like the fixes passed stage 1 of testing, so they’re moving it into the 10/8 update for further testing. Specifically, this should fix the block for some folks when they talk to Trahearne at the start, and reduces a lot of the spawns across the story step. There’s still some funkiness with the enemies at the end displaying as white/yellow instead of red, but that’s a seperate issue we’re looking into for a later update.
I was able to complete this story though it may have been due to the fact that I went as a guest on someone else’s story – whatever the reason, I am very glad!
Superior rune sets have level requirements for the item that the rune is being applied to (level 60 according to the wiki). That may be what is causing this issue, since your armor is only level 46.
When you make a loud falling noise walking down a flight of stairs
According to my notes (which hopefully aren’t out of date), there is such a vendor in the Fields of Gold (so probably at Caer Shadowfain). ETA: Could be at Penitent Camp also.
I’ve never heard of the “Well Read” achievement, but the transmutation one is listed under the Tradesman tab on the Hero panel.
Just patched up and tried to progress my story and… no change, still the same bug with no cut scene.
What are your last 3 story steps? (From the journal.) Did you do any of them co-op?
Same, build 15619, Trahearne just says “Understood” when I talk to him, and there is no cut-scene or other progress.
My 3 previous story steps were Striking off the chains, Wet work, intercepting the orb. I’m pretty sure I did all those steps solo (but it was a month ago so I am not 100%).
Legendary items are likely sellable, but might be soulbound on use (or perhaps account bound on use, if such a thing exists).
For more of a challenge, if you die, Grenth takes his burden back!
Try hanging outside the Black Citadel next to the Village of Smokestead – you have Flame Legion attacking the armory and junkyard and hanging out in a cave and stealing BBQ and causing mayhem at the lake (5 events that happen fairly often from what I have seen).
Dungeon POI’s don’t count for world completion.
In the Plains of Ashford, there is a Renown Heart all the way to the southeast (to help an Asuran scientist) and a skill point along the south edge of the map south of Lake Adorea, that may be tricky to locate.
Peaches are a karma item but they can be bought very cheaply in bulk for a few event’s worth of karma and will level you very quickly.
ETA: Of course, you have to get to the high-level area to actually obtain them, that may be more of an issue if you are still low-level.
Yeah, I’m not high enough to be able to actually travel through Fireheart Rise. I do have plenty of Karma for them though.
I was hoping there was an ingredient I could get from friends or buy from the TP.
Check the trading post for Raspberry Peach Compote, which can be used in Chef-350 ( Raspberry Peach Bar) creation.
As the title says, if I am using Rapid Fire and try to attack with Barrage before RF is done, Barrage won’t activate. I am able to interrupt Rapid Fire with the other attacks, however (and usually use Long Range shot to do this, mainly to avoid accidentally over-aggroing – though when I am trying to use Barrage after Rapid Fire, it is not for this purpose of course).

I’ve gotten about 1 badge per 5 kills both in last week’s matchup (1-sided for my world) and this week’s (my world getting stomped so far) so I don’t think the drops are affected by how many kills your enemies are accumulating.
As for getting kill credit/loot – I noticed I will usually get xp if I get 1 touch in on a downed foe, but need several at least or to down them in the first place to get loot credit.
There are pre-req events to start the Toil for the Coil meta-event, involving going to the caves to the west and killing trolls. Perhaps those events can be triggered and done to start off the Infinity Coil events?
They are expensive, but the “mystic” weapons from the mystic forge have nice lightning effects.
Becoming a weaponsmith and huntsman crafter on 1 toon can be advantageous since you can buy the rare inscriptions recipes once but they will unlock within both crafting professions.
Open your hero panel and click on the crafting tab. The recipes list will show you what you can or cannot craft based on your stockpile in inventory/bank/collectibles, just as if you were at the crafting station. Of course, this only applies to the crafting disciplines active on that toon.

You have to buy the “imbued” recipes from the Master Huntsman (3rd tab) with karma.
You have to go around the Cathedral of Verdance – there is an underwater passageway that passes beneath the Penitent Path – however, I’m not sure if you can actually access it unless you are doing the story mission for that area.
The NPC for the Centaur Chieftain skill challenge in the Red Borderlands (Anvil Rock, in this case) is missing, though the event is active and there is an icon for it on the mini-map.
When you mouse-over the inscription, it should show the crafting disciplines and requirements for it – they are used at the crafting stations in building weapons.
There is an event in NW Fireheart Rise that involves escorting 2 bickering Pact explorers through a cave that has great dialogue.
“At least my whiskey appreciates me!”
The update notes for September 14th say there were bug fixes for this mission, but I am still encountering the same problem – no tasks to do after talking to Trahearne.
After the fight, if you get an alert that you got bronze/silver/gold credit for the event to kill the Shatterer or whatever dragon you are battling (assuming that it succeeded), you will also see a chest spawn which you can interact with for loot. If you don’t get the event alert after the fight is over, you won’t be qualified for loot and you won’t see the chest.
There is one heart in Caledon Forest, in the southwest, that is tricky to find: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Assist_Arias_in_maintaining_his_garden. It doesn’t show up on the map when you discover that area unless you get very close to his location, or unless you talk to the correct scout.
Do you know which area isn’t completed yet on your world map?
Love the game so far! Just have request for tweaks for usability:
1. It would be great if items that can’t be used by the current character be greyed out just as items in the discovery panel in crafting are greyed out if they are about the crafter’s current ability. This greying out would be in inventory, collectibles and bank, and the effects would be displayed on items restricted due to level, class or soulbound status of the item.
2. When mousing-over renown NPC’s currently you see their task if it is active, or a brief description of the task if it is completed. When it is completed, it would be nice if the mouse-over displayed the items for sale by the NPC, and the rewards received in XP and coppers.
3. When doing a personal story with someone else, please let everyone else stay when the instance owner leaves, instead of booting them automatically.
Rolling a Charr as the first toon is like starting in Prophecies in GW1 (starting in Ascalon). It is logical!
Also, cats.
Most of the map completion reward armor/weapons that I have gotten were the mid-level or a bit lower for the zone, not scaled up or down for player level.
I didn’t see anything in the update notes about this, but after this new build (and maybe before also, didn’t notice), I can craft items using materials that are in my bank rather than in my inventory. If this is an intentional change, then that is awesome!
There are various ways to level up to the content you are playing – you can tour all the cities and gain xp from the vistas/poi’s/waypoints; you can gain xp from gathering resources and crafting; and you can visit the starter zones of the other races and do the events and hearts below your level.
You can also craft or buy food or other buffs for temporary boosts in difficult areas.
There are 15 Renown Hearts in Diessa Plateau – the wiki is missing the Renown Heart to Assist the Blood Legion vs. Separatists for Tiga Fierceblade in the Town of Nolan, which is close to the zone portal to The Black Citadel.
If you got a network error which can sometimes happen when you bid but the price increased before you completed the bid, you can go to a trading post NPC and open the Trading Post window and click on the last tab to pick up items and click the “take all” button – it should show the amount that you bid in the top of the screen.
I’ve found some in the Harathi Hinterlands.
There are gold nodes in Bloodtide Coast and Fields of Ruin.
Malchor’s and Straits don’t have renown hearts, but they make up for it with dynamic event chains that span large portions of the map, and there are still karma merchants that appear when the events are completed. And these areas are both very active, as is the next area beyond them, Cursed Shore.
