“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
A well prepared burst contains CCs. You cannot dodge when CC’d and most builds take at best one (long cooldown) stunbreak. A well prepared burst takes place after the target is low on endurance. If you can simply dodge a burst of damage then it means it wasn’t well prepared at all.
If your point is that burst is weak because of the ability to dodge I am sorry to inform you that burst builds were/are pretty common, especially in the past.
And I still can’t find you on the leaderboards, not even top 700 EU/US. If GW2’s PvP is about spamming, how come you aren’t up there? Didn’t spam hard enough?
That research is skewed. It includes children and people who play on facebook/cellphones as “gamers”. In MMOs or other kinds of games for a more mature audience the % are pretty much in favor of males. So yeah, it’s still a boys club, let’s not spread misinformation.
P.s. no hard feelings just pointing out the facts.
P.p.s. I wanted Evon to win
Fun I guess? Seems like a waste of resources to me but whatever, I’m sure there’s people that love/use them.
I’d love to hear the solution from Windu though.
but ultimately they designed professions around getting the end user to break out their credit card.
Sorry, what? Care to elaborate on that? I must be misunderstanding that, I don’t think my Guardian has ever tried to convince me buying gems.
Also “limitations” a.k.a. rules are present in every game. Would magic the gathering be better if you had your whole deck in your hand?
a jedi’s strength flows from the credit card. understand more you will when ascended and legendary gear are revealed.
limitations are paths to the dark side. limitations lead to anger. anger leads to more limitations. more limitations lead to suffering.
I appreciate the style of your answer and am sad to tell you I lack the english skillz to reply in-style. So yeah, unless you somehow have access to secret knowledge regarding new legendary/ascended gear we are talking about baseless assumptions.
Limitations when it comes to skills/build choices are perfectly fine or at worst a necessary evil. As I said, magic the gathering wouldn’t be any better if you had your whole deck in your hand just as GW2 wouldn’t be any better if we could equip 10 utilities, 3 elites and 2 heals. Oh and 2 weapon sets at the same time.
I’d also love to have a PvP match against milo as I tend to get pretty upset when people say that GW2’s PvP is shallow and spammy, because most of the time those are hotjoin heroes who know nothing about PvP. For some reason his spamming didn’t bring him anywhere on the leaderboards, I wonder why.

You don’t get to decide what’s “true” content and whatnot. SAB is content of the same quality as any other thing you may want to see. Not to mention it was massively popular.
Yes, definitely. Also consider people do this viability talk (especially on DPS) when we have no DPS-meters and very few of them actually do the math.
Yes, people that know of the existance of other skills other than autoattack! Way more fun then fighting noface kingface.
Looks promising but we (unfortunately) already know the results of the match. Wish Piken had more numbers!
I’m expecting to get my head bashed in a great deal of times this week, see you in game, at your supply camps
The crying is strong in this one
It truly breeds variety as long as they are well balanced. I’d rather have them take their time to make sure the new skills/traits won’t give birth to overpowered builds. It’s better to have 20 viable skills rather than 10 viable skills and 20 skills nobody uses, imo.
This post is not related to the current state of GW2 balance, which features plenty of useless traits/skills
To me GW2 was trying to sell an experience, which although beautiful, does not create enough interest for extremely competitive-minded players like me.
True extremely competitive-minded people like me want their skill to be on the showcase, not the time they spent raiding to get their set of armor. This is why highly competitive PvP-only games such as MOBAs (Dota2, HoN, LoL), shooters (CounterStrike), or GW2 SPvP don’t give benefits to people who played them for longer.
I have sunk 1k and more hours into this game and I’m perfectly fine with having the same gear as someone new because if I beat him it was due to me being a better player, not having an unfair advantage.
This is the design philosophy GW2 (and many GW2 players) embrace, and I seriously doubt it will ever change.

The game still doesn’t allow you win with gear rather than skill.
“Rushing” to level 30 isn’t exactly easy :p
And I wasn’t suggesting to put a treshold at 30. We could have one at 40, one at 50 and so on. Electro’s suggestion would be the fastest and easiest though.
I don’t really like this suggestion because it would make it possible to get fractal weapons just by farming level 2, while I like the fact that they are exclusive to high level runners (although some luckers get them at lv 20-28 =( ).
I would prefer if they gave a guaranteed fractal weapon of your choice when you reach certain tresholds of your personal level, say, lv 30 or 40.
The necessities of skinner box rats?
Please let’s not start flame wars, somehow I always end up getting caught into them

Go ahead and quit. I play (roughly) like TooBz, agree with his philosophy and wouldn’t call myself casual by any mean.
You know what’s not casual, but hardcore? Competitive CounterStrike teams. I tried playing in one of those (and failed terribly) for fun, not because Valve gives them rewards (they don’t).

What the heck the armor makes him look huge! 7.5/10, would be higher if I you had used a different chestpiece, I personally loathe that one.
Now I know it’s not really the purpose of the thread but I’m looking for a suggestion on dyes. I have used the first set ( Celestial, Midnight Ice, Autumn Sky ) for months now, and wanting to change up things a bit I went for the second one (Midnight Fire, Redemption, Celestial ). Yes, no? Suggestions? Keep in mind that is the weapon I use the most, the other being Zenith Staff or AC hammer.
Yes I know, no mix & match, woe me! I do have another set mix & match set in my mind, but I haven’t bothered getting the pieces right now.
Edit: Since the guy above me posted while I was writing I’ll rate him too. The guardian looks amazing, everything seems to fit him perfectly, 9/10. The mesmer will haunt my nightmares, but I suppose that was the look you were shooting for? If yes, another 9/10!

With 45 min of game per day, I have the same stuff, the same skin, the same advantage than a player who play 8 hours per day.
The first part is not true, the second one is a design choice unique to GW2. It was well known we wouldn’t have a gear treadmill and easy to reach stat-cap before release. Your loss if you bought something you wouldn’t have enjoyed. Devs already added ascended, go back to WoW and leave us alone if you want a gear treadmill.
Every day for 8 months? 1h+ just to get all your dailies done? Yes kokiman, crazy.
Not to mention I personally met one of the players with 11k/12k achi points in PvP and after I killed him once or twice he whispered me something in french (rage I believe) and blocked me. Guess I slowed his AP farming O.o

Rofl at the excuse that you can’t play WvW normally when a GvG is going on. Hard numbers: GvG involves at best 60 players, considering you can have around 80-90 players per server per map…. Need I say more?
Even more laughable is the implication that you do it because you want to fight. If that was the truth, you wouldn’t be known for being the best at avoiding fights. Nightcap, zero roamers-small groups, trebbing or golem rushing as only attack methods, admitting to play for points ( fights don’t give points )… I could go on. Fights, ah!
That is all.
@Charak
If something is not rewarding to do it doesn’t mean it isn’t an option. With that in mind. With that in mind.
Fractals
“Once you get lvl48, and have no need for rings/bags/capes, nothing drops here worthwhile”
See above
Guild missions
“6 badges/week, done in a couple hours”
Your point? There’s plenty of different missions.
Living Story
“Can be finished on release day in couple hours”
With guides maybe. And it’s released every 2 weeks, I don’t know about you but I don’t expect content that lasts months every 2 weeks, that’s unreasonable.
WvW
“ZvZ content, skill lag, need to grindout 300 levels for skills”
No NEED to grind at all, it’s ZvZ only if you want it to be, skill lag happens in the most populated servers only and at prime time, when there are huge clashes.
PvP
“Trash, no reward outside of cosmetics”
If you are trakitten it it doesn’t make it trash. See above.
World Exploration
“Finished in a week”
Only if done with the map open running as fast as possible from point to point without actually exploring anything, missing a thousand of cool JPs, minidungeons, secret spots, some interesting dynamic events/NPCs and I could go on.
Dinner’s ready, gotta run!
.
30 euros after box prices. I’m all for supporting the game, but when you to gotta spend 10 euros per set of armor or a single, soulbound endless gathering tool it becomes too pricey for me.
I do my dailies everyday which gives some points but that’s like bringing sand to the desert. ;-)
I have some parts of the game nearly untouched: WvW, PVP and Fractals.
This should give me another 1.000-1.500 points which is still miles away from top.I think it 12.000 still impossible nowadays!?
Are you doing EVERY option of your daily everyday? Both PvP and PvE? Because that’s what top players in achievement points have been doing for more than half a year. Yes they are THAT crazy.
Useless? I don’t know, hiding in a keep to res a dead mesmer, ressing downed allies or stomping a downed enemy seem all useful things to me, and I’m sure you can do more (contesting waypoints, for example).
I think you are trying to tell us something?
A french sentence is an efficient trap. GJ
I fell into a trap? Because usually that would imply something bad is going to happen.
Also Wemil, you failed me
Something like that is in the works. Check the latest interview with the devs on guildwars2hub.
And developers are still ignoring this thread.
How can you ignore a thread and post in it at the same time?
No. You want a legendary in PvP, earn a legendary in PvP. How? Up to Arenanet to decide.
This… How the hell did I forget about fotm (especially high level) rewards? It’s the dungeon that needs them the most!
Those conjectures are, in my opinion, spot on Mr. mtl! As someone who plays and likes basically every aspect of GW2, PvE is what would leave most challenge-seekers disappoint.
When I read people calling GW2 grindy I just can’t take them seriously.
If it makes you feel better Esplen, I got it 2 lines in.
I don’t wanna delve into balance issues because I play a Guardian and am in no spot to complain about it, but fighting against a permastealth thief in WvW has to be one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever experienced in a pvp game.
I don’t have troubles fighting thieves, more often then not they end up running. What makes me burn with rage is how easy for them is to reset fights or run away as soon as something goes awry, or how a skilled thief could troll me all day everyday or keep 3-4 random guys busy forever. Luckily enough, most thieves are terrible and this isn’t too common, but still.
Give them the tools to be valuable assets if need be, but please get rid of builds that have 80% uptime on uncounterable stealth. Hitting the air only works with melee weapons, gives no feedback if the attack is not a chain and in general feels pretty horrible.
Oh by the way.

First question.
There’s nothing as heroic as saving Miya and defeating Lord Vanquish in the Super Adventure Box.
Elementalist is one of the hardest classes to play. For example, using the scepter with finesse makes a lot of difference. They are very good in both WvW and PvP, but not top-notch in PvE. Anyways, I don’t suggest you listen to the complaints in the classes sub-forum: people always like to think that their class sucks, while all the others are OP.
Also, a good player in a good build will always be able to hold his own, no matter the class.
With that out of the way, I’d suggest you:
Guardian
- Simple to learn
- Effective in every game mode (limited to defensive builds in PvP)
Warrior
- Simple to learn
- Effective in WvW and PvE, kinda weak in PvP.
Ranger
- Simple to learn
- Effective in PvP, kinda weak in PvE/WvW
Mesmer I heard are not really easy to level up and take some micro-management so I would stay away from them right now :p
The highest number of concurrent players you can get in many of those co-op or multiplayer games is 40-50, a long shot from the two games I mentioned (GW2 wvw and Planetside 2). Not to mention that 99% of the time, they don’t have a persistent world.
Now I’m not criticizing your playstyle, I wasn’t judging you but merely answering to your rebuttal. There’s many and (dare I say) more valid reasons to playing MMOs than comparing lenght of kittenes.
With that out of the way, I don’t think you’ll be able to really find what you are looking for in GW2. Our PvE is not really competitive by design. Sorry if I don’t answer your follow-up question but I’ve ran out of time.
Edit: lol you got infracted
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
In that other game there is atleast 4 different ways to kill a dragon boss
I heard that other game is doing great
DRAGONS NOW complain thread #28
Oh well, we’ll have to live without your like.

Good on you Alisa, because the amount of people with a legendary that get destroyed in WvW is quite high :P
The combo works but I would avoid GS in large group settings and replace it with a hammer. Taking GS offers more damage and mobility, but it comes at the cost of CCs and Blast Finishers, two things that are infinitely more useful in zerg vs zerg. Not to mention that Whirling Wrath gets you killed if enemies have retaliation and it’s not as bursty as Mighty Blow.
I read a lot of replies along the lines of “I play FOR myself” or “I play for fun”
But then here’s the response I create in my head: Then why not just play a single-player game? I mean, if the things you gain are just for you, and you don’t care if anyone else sees it – then couldn’t a single player game actually provide a more impressive experience than than the time-sink associated with MMOs, which is also true of GW2.
But I can’t play single player games with other people. Boasting of one own achievements (which more often then not are not a testament of skill but time spent) is just a little part of playing with other players.
For example, one of the things I like in MMOs is the ability to be a part of something greater. I cannot get the same feelings I get in a guild raid in Planetside 2 (or GW2) with a single player game.
Quickly, hide your character with a blank box!!!
Oh noes, the information that could’ve been easily obtained by simply visiting pevepe.net!
Mmm no, not really.
Or don’t go to an already overpopulated server. You don’t have to be in t1 to enjoy WvW, you know…
They sent a survey after the Lost Shores incident, so no they are definitely not afraid to know what their playerbase thinks, Mr. Cessmode.
