Complaining about OP mesmer and thief …. check
Plays a… guardian? Wait what?
You got a point, Guardians bunker builds represent a serious problem in TPvP and probably deserve a nerf. This, however, is SPvP and I’m not even running a bunker build. Should also point out that I did 15 of my 17 ranks on an Engineer and that I wanted to try the class for a change ( loving it so far ). In the end, I wasn’t even complaining about balance, but thanks for the feedback.
Happy (!?) to see that I’m not the only one frustrated with this issue.
I just made this pretty interesting screenshot I wanted to share with you guys.
Please Arenanet, do something about this. It’s been two months, first it was thieves now it’s mesmers. I’m not gonna argue balance because honestly I don’t know much about the class, but I just want to point out that it’s matches like that scare casual or less-dedicated pvp players away. Really hope the Lost Shores update will finally make me enjoy playing SPvP again.
Explorable dungeons aren’t hardcore or brutal. For level 80s, every path ranges from cakewalk to moderately difficult, altough Arah might be harder on the average (I have yet to tackle it so I can’t judge for now). In fact, I’d like harder challenges and mind you, I’m no pro leet MLG hardcore gamer.
P.s. fun fact, to actually lose money from completing an exp dungeon you’d have to die at least 15 times and that calculation doesn’t count the money generated from drops.
another example of how frustrated people are getting with ur game dynamics. many of us have tried to be polite and respectful in our suggestions . but it just doesnt seem like arenanet is getting it. ur dynamics, and game structure needs to be corrected completely. even if u have to bring the game down for a month. wouldnt it be better than a huge amount of people that once loved this game, that no longer play because the diffuculty level of this game from personal story, to wvw, to pve is on insane.
You are entitled to your opinion but I think that outside very specific dungeon paths, once you reach max stats ( and it’s quite easy to do so ) there’s little to no challenge in the game, especially general pve which was easy even without good equip. Speaking of difficulty in regards to a primarily PvP mode such as WvW doesn’t make any sense, either. What do you want them to do to make it easier, lower your enemies’ stats?
I beat it yesterday with 3 guys from a guild and a friend of mine. First part was troublesome but not impossible once you know what to do ( i.e. ignore the asuras and use spells that block projectiles )
Arenanet times their events to their highest user concurrency hours. Since one-time events can’t suit everyone’s timezones, they decided to pick a time that would suit the major number of players possible. Wrap your head around this fact.
I don’t even know you, why would I hate you. I just dislike arrogant people. Also like the bit where you avoided commenting on the logical fallacy I pointed out. That being said, I’m out of this because moderators are not gonna like it. Have a good day sir.
If they want to add secret little things or data for the next events they can simply say “We’ve added data for the Lost Shores” and everyone will be happy with that and won’t have anything spoiled. Anything else like bug fixes, balance changes and drop rate changes should be listed in a proper thread on the forums.
Actually, if you check out the game’s OST you’d notice pretty quickly that there are plenty of new tracks in the game but they are very rarely heard. T
Unfortunately a good chunk of the skins are used for level 80 armors so there’s way less variety at lower levels. It will get better as you go up in levels.
That’s not very constructive at all. What are your issues in particular? What changes would you like to see?
P.s. Harsh judgements on the devs on their forum is asking for a ban. I would strongly suggest against it. After all, we should be kind to them, it’s not their fault if they can’t make awesome games such as ours…. ooops.
> States that Kiting and using CCs is not fun because it’s an overused mechanic
> Asks for Trinity system to be implemented ( totally not overused mechanic )
You might also want to lower a bit your ego, Mr. WellKnownForMySkill
As the poster above me quoted, speed boosts do not stack. So yes +33% is the cap, unless you get a full set of “runes of ….” (can’t recall the name), in which case you’ll reach +40% everytime you have swiftness.
One exception is the Engineer’s Slick Shoes, that grants them a +100% speed boost for a few seconds.
Achieving 25 points on a fresh account is crazyness. Unless you find a guild that assists you at every step and dumps all of their golds on you, you won’t make it in less than 2-3 months of regularly playing GW1. I know because I had an account with around 100h of game time and achieving my 19 points took me 1 month, and the more points you get, the more effort it requires. Don’t listen to all the guides saying it’s easy, or fast.
Orichalcum nodes respawns every 24 hours, so should ancient wood nodes ( Orrian Saplings ). I heard they change locations everytime a new build is released, but I’m not sure about that.
I’m a guy that mainly plays a female Norn. Why, you ask? Because I dislike male Norns looks, as simple as that.
“This loss is only temporary”…
Supported. Already voiced my opinion in other, similar threads.
Can’t edit my post for some reason. Stop calling an achievement “event”. This is not an event, it’s an achievement you can get during halloween event. Halloween event is much more than “carve pumpkins”, it’s Lunatic Inquisition, Reaper’s Rumble, Clock Tower, Ascent To Madness…. do I need to keep going on?
Not only that, but I’m at 110/150 pumpkins and I’ve never purposefully grinded pumpkins beside half an hour in the labyrinth. I’m sure by the end of halloween I’ll make it and it won’t feel like a chore because I’m not tunnel visioning on it.
P.s. the “swung a sword” refers to questing, mostly. If you have an idea for a more entertaining achievement other than “do x y times” feel free to post it.
and before anyone starts trolling… i apologize that i have a life a job and a family and cant spend every minute of every day on guild wars and didnt make it to level 80 within a week of release
Wow, just wow. I’m usually willing to help anyone and usually sprint to ress every downed/dead player I see, but if I found someone as nice and kind as you lying dead the urge to teabag would be unstoppable.
Your apologies are appreciated, but you should note that
a) you don’t need much time to get to 80
2) you don’t even NEED to get to 80 for the scavenger hunt, 50-60 will solo it just fine III) the game has been out for 2months+ and
lastly) Every single part of the event thus far can be done by a level 1 with the help of an higher level buddy.
Maybe you should get some of those too, along with your life your job and your family. It honestly looks like you are just complaining for the sake of complaining.

Yeah link, davidmonthen and Bloodsteel are so cool they seem to win every fight and get badges everywhere, everytime. But then their server loses. Oooops.
Seafarer thanks you for the quick win and of course the absurd amount of badges =)
Oh man, do I hate you Xaoc and WIC guys! Everytime we’re fighting an organized group it’s either one of you! Good fights and good times, altough I wish the matchup was more balanced (we at Seafarer stomp during prime time, you guys do it by night, while Baruch Bay really isn’t a threat for the whole day :P).
That defense at your garrison in our bordelands during the first days was epic! Those freaking trebs on the vista, man!
“To those stating the “metagame” will be altered? WvWvW is not what it should be right now so metagame plays no role in this discussion.”
Can you link someplace where someone from Arenanet said they were unhappy with the current state of WvW? Because if you can’t, you are just automatically promoting your (not community-supported) opinion to a fact. An opinion, I might add, that’s not even supported by proper points, since we can all agree that real-life comparisons are void when taking into account this is a fantasy-based MMO.
I think that taking the PvP aspect away from WvW JPs is a bad idea, as WvW is a PvP area. I’m not so sure about allowing players to build siege weapons in it, though.
The dream of nightcappers and zergs? No thanks.

Point click movement would be horrible in this game, this is not GW1. Not only that, but point click movement is overall a far worse system then WASD for any 1st person game.
@ Esoteric Rogue: there’s an autorun command.
I don’t really understand the message here. Are you saying that focusing your entire build around damage is too strong in WvW? Or that it’s too strong everywhere? That having different builds is non-viable or otherwise subpar?
Anyways, it doesn’t really matter because, as far as sPvP and WvW go, I’m pretty sure glass cannon builds are actually quite weak. What are your 10k crits gonna do when cannons down you almost instantly, you can’t man a flame ram and chokepoints absolutely crush you?
P.s. Nerfing overall damage output is also quite dangerous on a game in which everyone has a self heal.
Underwater combat is part of the game and I like it. Bugs, or balance issues are to be taken lightly when you judge how much you like certain aspects of the game. It’s like saying that you don’t like sPvP because warriors are too strong, or your class is too weak ( just examples ).
In my honest opinion, some hearts should force people to do underwater content because they will be required to be underwater during many events, dungeons, in WvW and in sPvP.
I’m an engineer and I spend most of my time doing those things exactly.
While I agree that those issues are frustrating, they are in no way underwater combat-specific. Most enemies underwater in Orr bug out and reset, or respawn too fast, yes. Wouldn’t it be exactly the same if that happened with regular combat?
Voicing my support for the removal. I don’t think they fit the game, at all.
First let’s get this out: this is non-interested, honest feedback. I’m not a “fanboy”, nor are the developers gonna add a legendary to my character just because I enjoyed what they did. I have no other interest other than congratulating with Arenanet’s devs and letting them know my opinion. Your opinion is also appreciated.
In a time where the dungeon subforum is full of angry people bashing and criticizing dungeons, I thought I would cut Anet some slack and break the mold. Granted, dungeons have issues that need to be solved, but this thread is not about them.
I just finished Sorrow’s Embrace story mode with two IRL friends on skype and two random players and boy, was that a great time. Out of all the 6 istances we’ve ran, this was by far the most enjoyable experience I had with them, and my friends both agreed with me. So I thought I’d just analyze why I liked it so much and hear other players’ opinions.
Ambient/Sound:
This has always been one of GW2’s strongest aspects and here, again, it delivers. The scenery is beautifull as basically everywhere in this game, but my particular preference of the Dredge’s themes made it exceptional. The conversations you hear (I’m talking about you, Dredge War Master) and the videos are pretty good, maybe because there’s lot of Zojja and Caithe. Also the artworks. Oh my god, the artworks. Nothing else to say, really.
General difficulty:
Almost perfect, maybe just a tiny tad too hard, but kept being challenging while not becoming frustratingly hard. We never wiped, but had various deaths. Considering we were 3 lv 80, 1 70 and 1 60 and at least 3 of us were on voice chat and thus were coordinated, I think it should be toned down. It’s a story mode after all and you want families or “casual players” to run those right?
Difficulty scaling and consistency:
I fear that one of the most rough aspects of dungeons is their “all over the place difficulty”. An insanely hard first dungeon followed by a way too easy second one, trash harder than bosses or first bosses being much harder then ending bosses. I feel like dungeons are at their best when the difficulty starts low but ramps up to a decent challenge during the last encounters. This dungeon had none of these issues. Bosses were stronger then trash, who was pretty non-threatening at the beginning but required a little bit of attention later on. A bit disappointed by the fact that the last boss was quite easier then the one preceding it (who should be toned down a bit), but hey, still a good job.
Boss fights/mechanics:
Great! Every enemy had clear indications of what attacks they were going to do and you were given enough time to properly react. Making a few mistakes was punishing, but rarely led to anything more than a down and in general you were given enough room for errors. While the mechanics aren’t exactly the most original ones, they were pretty solid, especially on the last two bosses (yes, I liked them THAT much!).
Lenght:
One thing I’m unsatisfied with. It’s too long, probably because of the HP on the trash mobs. It took us 1 full hour and we never wiped or resetted any boss, also we skipped the part where you need to bombard the army by dropping right next to the tunnel leading to the next area ( is that an exploit? ). It should be toned down to 40 minutes per average run.
Ok, I think I’m done for now, as I just noticed the scary wall of text I’ve written and I’m not sure if I actually wrote something worthwile reading in there :P What do you think, players? Do you agree with me?
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
What Craven said. Kept me playing for 1 month and probably will for a lot longer.
“If you still can think of an argument, disagree with this scenario: You are in WvWvW and your guild mates have called you in, so u zone in and have to run 3/4 across the map to get to the battle they are in, so u spend a few minutes running across thekittenthing only to be ganked by some random team of badguys just as u were so close, only to find your nearest way point is the one you just ran from”
Quoting you again as for some reason I can’t seem to find the button that allows me to do it.
Actually, what you proposed as a strong argument for “why should mounts be implemented into GW2” is possibly the weakest one I usually hear, and instead makes a great example for people who don’t want them.
You see, in WvWvW the key to success is strategy. You have roughly the same amount of players on each server during most of the day so WHERE and HOW you employ said manpower is what makes the difference between winning or losing. That may seem you like bullkitten, but that only means you play WvW as a “random soloer” and the only option available to you is zerging with other random players, which works well enough for people to keep doing it. Arguably, having a strategy is much more fun/better for the game then general zerging from tower to tower.
To make it short, introducing mounts ( or rather, the speed buff they imply ) would just promote zerging over strategy. Why? For a number of reasons.
*First, people who move faster also zerg faster, while setting up defenses still remains slow.
*Two, bought waypoints are much less important, so why even bother unlocking them?
*Three, killing players/group of players, especially when against zergs, matters a lot less, as they will be back at the fight in mere seconds. As a side effect, this could lead to neverending battles with the 2-3 armies constantly being reinforced.
I could keep going on and provide more examples related to the “mounts in WvW” argument but I got things to do and I’ve already wasted too much time.
Quoting what you’ve written:
“Trying to be different” Is not a valid reason for trying to milk players for way point costs.
Aahahah, really? Are you trying to say that you can’t even afford the waypoint travel fees? Or that you are in any way shape or form forced to buy gold from Arenanet because otherwise you don’t have enough? Look buddy, gold sinks are fine for the game’s health and gold is not really needed/easily obtained. I’m level 80 with max stats in 1 month of playing and I’ve never had any trouble with gold, so much that I even bought some gems with it. Why would Arenanet make it so easy to gain max stats/max level if they wanted to milk money from us?
Waypoints being there doesn’t mean you should have access to any place of the map instantly and at no cost. One example is that at level 80 it costs you about 2.5 silver to teleport to someplace 20+ minutes away from where you are, but even when the place is 30 seconds away from you it doesn’t go any lower than 1.3-1.5s. What does that mean? That you are supposed to walk inside a map. It’s not a biggie, really, you can clear a map from side to side in less than 5 minutes, less with swiftness. Only use waypoints when you want to move 1-2 or more maps away from where you are, when they actually save you quite some time. You can even go to LA for free and from there get to the 5 capitals also for free. Why would you even want to implement mounts?
I feel like it’s pretty good, but should have a bit more height to allow you surpass small obstacles. Sure, to newer players the fact that a stunbreaker in fact CCs you may seem strange, but if you analyze the skill closely you notice the pros:
1) One of the few or maybe the only stunbreak that also removes immobilize. It may not seem like a big deal, but the fact that whatever CC your enemy throws at you, this skill will remove it is invaluable.
2) Low cd – especially if traited
3) Toolbelt skill is -THE- best for condition damage builds as far as damage goes.
4) Moves you back. Even if you have no endurance left, you’ll almost instantly get out of those nasty pistol whips/hundred blades/AoEs.
5) It’s a blast combo finisher. Combined with Automated Self-Defence Bomb Dispenser ( that’s the name, if I recall correctly ) or any smoke combo fields it will also stealth you and nearby allies. Angry enemies just immobilized me and their ele/thieves are bursting me down? No biggie, I’ll cleanse the CC, move away and stealth myself to negate the knockdown.
If I didn’t have a self-knockdown it would be OP. Definitely our best stunbreaker.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
I don’t see new modes being implemented soon, as long as you’d like them to be decently balanced. We’ll probably see new maps, but they will still be capture and hold + specific mechanic.
What? Crazy burst damage? I don’t know what you are talking about, as long as I dont go full glass cannon I’m able to have fun and long-lasting duels. With a point defender spec I’m able to survive against 2-3 players for 15+ seconds and 1 vs 1 I might survive indefinitely and outlast them.
P.s. who keeps spreading this kitten that we are not getting duels because Anet wants to take a different direction? There’s literally no reason to not implement a “/duel” function and Anet devs said it will eventually come if there’s enough request.
P.p.s. Low amount of CCs is a good thing because fights turn into a stunlockingfest otherwise.
P.p.s. did you just say that classes have a low skill cap and you can pick them up and perform extremely well in a small amount of time? Disagree, wholeheartedly.
Pistolwhip and hundred blades are fine.
Downed state is a nice mechanic that adds a lot of depth to teamfights.
But Dungeons in general require people to use only a specific set of tactics and not a large set like every other part of the game.
What?! Specific set of tactics? You can bring any class with almost any spec/gear and as long as you make up with for it with coordination and strategy you can suceed. I did CM EM with 4 thieves and a guardian (me). Four. Thieves. Guess what? We died sometimes, but we made it. First time, no knowledge about the dungeon, 3 of them were random players.Isn’t that awesome? Gone are the times of “lf x class y spec”
If by “specific set of tactics” you mean things like "you have to separate the lovers/kite x/focus y " or even “have loads of condition removal” well then, that’s just the mechanics of a fight. And you can accomplish what is required in many different ways.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
That’s all nice and dandy untill you realize they would have to do that for the hundreds and hundreds of events currently in the game and it would have to be balanced.
I haven’t met many of them going dual pistols and I admit that the few times I did I had trouble dealing with them, as not having a shield equipped makes us quite vulnerable to ranged dmg. Those that rely on melee for dmg, either dagger/dagger or sword/pistol are kinda easy to deal with thanks to our excellent kiting. All “main” weapons are good for the job (pistol with the blind, rifle with overcharged shot + net, shield with the stun, off-hand pistol for the burst) and many good utilities help a lot ( slick shoes devastates them, but personal batterning ram, the flamethrower and the bomb kit help too).
AoEs and autoattacks can still hit them so spam them in their general direction if need be. Shadow Refuge in particular is easily counterable by throwing grenades/bombs inside it.
I just unlocked my last class-based profession at lv 77 and I didn’t go out of my way to do skill challenges so yeah, you can. Not only that but as people already said you keep gaining skill points at level 80 through experience.
You like the squeaks?
Not it didn’t use to be “fun and challenging” it used to be super-imba-easy mode and it got fixed.
Moving on
Oh if only we needed to reduce the “dungeon gear grind”, this would be a great thread.
Hint: you are not stuck doing anything. You want that rare, unique-looking set? You work for it, HARD. You don’t wanna bother? There are sets that can be obtained much more easily and have the same stats.
P.s. The “neutral token” idea is pretty bad: people would simply farm the fastest route and get their Twilight Arbor-specific-looking set without ever setting foot in the dungeon.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
I think TA story mode difficulty is just right. Yes those two bosses gave us trouble and wiped us 2-3 times but then again my PUG wasn’t that great.
> SPOILER <————-
Focus eir and then zojja as they deal way more damage then melees
This game has grind but it’s not required to enjoy the game You can spvp without disadvantages from the get-go and the hard to get gear doesn’t offer any advantage over easier to get exotics. Most, if not all of the grind is aestethic and not required to unlock new content (i.e. you can efficiently complete any dungeon without having to farm gear before). Also, the harder it is to get said gear, the less people will have it and the less prestige it will have.
P.s. we had max level max stats players like 20 days after release. Oh the grind.
