Good news everybody! Cleric, Knight, Rampager and a new variation ( precision main + power/tough ) have been added to current Ascended Items! Thanks Arenanet!!!
You got a point there Danicco, I recall that mission. Thanks for pointing that out, guess a mod can move the thread to the game bug section?
Thanks everyone for your replies, especially Proxy, I got a nice laugh out of your post Here’s a cookie.
Yay for Cleric Ascended Gear. This patch will hopefully introduce Cleric + other combinations to rings/amulets too. I’d be very happy about that.
Ubernay for insane ecto cost. Greatly pisses me off.

I’ve noticed a thing that really creeps me out while swimming in Cursed Shore. I don’t know if this should be in the game bugs section but here it is. Multiple times, while moving from the Cathedral of Silence up to the underwater section to the north, I’ve noticed a wrecked ship that’s approximately to the right of an underwater skill challenge. If I try to approach it, it vanishes at a certain distance and never reappears again, unless I go into a loading screen. You can get much closer approaching from another angle, but it still vanishes after you get too close to it. I’ve talked about this in map chat, but nobody seems to notice the issue. Am I going crazy or what?
Here’s some screenshots. P.s. someone do a creepypasta of this.

Aiurs, what you are trying to do with this thread is remarkable and I thank you for that. I’d love to do the same, but I don’t have much time and probably not enough patience either.
On an unrelated note, wouldn’t you be way more effective if you went with healing power instead of vit/tough? I’ve found that, at least in SPvP, a Guardian with maxed healing power takes hits as good as a vit/tough one, but offers way better heals and is far more sustainable. Don’t you agree with me?
@newbies: If you need a tip or two for any dungeons but Arah ( haven’t run that one much ) please feel free to whisper me in-game.
It’s clearly largely unfinished.
Right click on his name, or his portrait, and select the “report” option. I’m not really familiar with reporting players so I don’t even remember what the options are, but if I’m not mistaken there’s no griefing option. Try verbal abuse or scamming? Sorry not to be more helpful, but that’s all I know. Hopefully someone from Arenanet can reply?
No it isn’t, but I suggest you to edit out that name as calling out players on the forums is forbidden. The proper way to report verbal abuse/griefing is by right clicking on said player’s name/portrait and selecting the “report” option.
There isn’t. There is , however, a Trading Post NPC:
The game isn’t doing too well, but not that bad either. I’m not usually running around the world , but the few zones I’ve visited while leveling my alt (Queensdale, Kessek Hills, Gendarran Fields ) were quite active. I’ve also been in all of the starting zones and oftentimes in high level zones such as Cursed Shore, Frostgorge Sound and Southsun Cove and I’ve always found 20+ players per zone at peak hours. I play on Seafarer’s Rest by the way.
I suggest you to try and guest (it’s free) in other servers ’till you find one with enough players. Tarnished Coast is quite packed, I hear.

This thread has a red response that might interest you guys. No news on the matter other than that post though.
Apologize for being OT, but weren’t you playing on Seaferer’s Rest untill like a week ago? Or am I wrong?
Yes, it’s OP, but underwater combat is a mess anyways, and underwater downed state in particular due to the lack of stomps and possibility of moving around even while self-ressing. Have you seen how Warriors have an almost guaranteed vengeance? Denying that is being either ignorant or biased.
I’d rather see a rifle on my Guardian, since we lack any decent ranged weapon (scepter doesn’t cut it in pvp), it would have to be OP and our autoattack should be called “holy shot”.
I second the elementalist/engis suggestion. Altough I don’t have much PvE experience on my engi tough I’d say that I can’t imagine much mashing going on.
It’s effective ( as in, you level up pretty fast ), but I wouldn’t suggest you to start from level 1, as you will be extremely weak and won’t be able to kill almost anything by yourself. Lv 30 should be enough to actually pose a minimum threat, but I’d strongly avoid going solo until you are 80. Sticking with zergs will earn you great exp/karma but you’ll be on the low side regarding coins. You CAN significantly help your server when there are no queues by manning siege, repairing towers/keeps and generally bringing supply around, but don’t expect to be as effective as a level 80.
Troll? How exactly am I being a troll? My post was off-topic, I’ll give you that, but I’d avoid accusations like that. And this thread should’ve been closed & deleted at start because it has no purpose other than venting and complaining, which is not allowed.

If you think that grinding the heck out of something is how “non-casuals” play I’m sorry to delude you, but I’m pretty dedicated and I couldn’t care less about making karma or gold. In fact, I think my “knowledge” of the game is far greater than yours in every aspect but farming, because you’ve probably been busy to do the most profitable routine day after day after day while I experienced PvE content, fought the good fight in WvW ( a place where you haven’t stepped foot in ever, seeing how non-profitable it is ) and worked on my skills in SPvP (again, zero profit). That being said, I’m in no way debating playstyles. You obviously are great at moneymaking, and if you find that fun, more power to you pal! But don’t come at me spewing out overused terms such as “casual”, because the only reason DR is put in place is to limit “uber-grinders” potential to acquire enormous amounts of goods and that has nothing to do with how “casual” a game is.
8 vs 8 hotjoins tend to be less skill-based and more of a zergfest. Try 5 vs 5 and see how you do. Also your FPS are definitely too low, but I’m sure you can improve in skills/build. More information would be helpful as it’s hard to determine what your problem might be.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
And that is why you don’t exploit bosses, especially easy ones. But oh well, I’m sorry for you, better luck next time
So you think that farming Orr for 6 months is fun, more power to you, who am I to judge your playstyle! But I’d like you to stop and think for a second : don’t you think that pretending to be able to farm 800k karma per month is being unrealistic?
Very sad to hear this. Whisper me in game if you need help, I mostly play a Guardian and I don’t discriminate against any class as I believe that a good party can overcome every encounter with proper strategy. I admit that, while some classes are more desiderable ( Guardians especially for their projectile reflection ), every class has its unique perks and their overall performance is relatively balanced.
I also take pleasure in leaving parties that kick thieves/rangers or people with 25 AR (we are talking fractal lv 30+) if they didn’t post their requirements in the lfg. Ah! Where is your precious Guardian now, baddies?
In GW2, you bring the player, not the class. If a player knows their class, they can do fractal 40 and more while being more useful to the party than bad guardians.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
I pugged my way to fractal lv 40 (before last patch) and there failed a grand total of 5-6 times due to poor communication/bad players. The first time I ran Fractal, back when it was just released, we had a player disconnect midway but we noticed it only half an hour later. Granted, I may have been lucky, as a friend of mine’s pugs seems to fail at least 1/4 of the times, but still.
You complain about non-PUG-friendly strategies but I ask you, what strategy is pug-friendly except the non-existing one? Nothing requires extreme coordination ( the dreaded swamp can be done in 1 attempt with certain pugs ) and dungeons were meant to be “hard” content. Not everything has to be AC/COF/HOTW.
Orpheal, the point. I think you missed it. We are not asking for NEW ascended items, I think that most of us would be happier if ascended was never introduced. We are asking them to implement the other stat combinations in already introduced items. And enough with the time excuses, ascended rings were introduced 3 months ago and have yet to be expanded upon. Would you be happy if they first released a full set of ascended armor, but only cloth? Don’t fret, they’ll introduce ascended heavy armor 4 months later and medium 6 months in.

Well maybe a player that isn’t able to complete a simple (yes, simple) Jumping Puzzle doesn’t deserve the highest achievement in the game, a legendary?
You see, maybe it’s because I’m 20, maybe because I play a lot, but I find the game too easy. Most jumping puzzles offer no mental/mechanical challenge, and don’t get me started on skill -challenges-. And I’m no pro mlg twitch player, I find myself an average gamer in terms of skill. So since the two of us coexist in the same game, the developer can’t 100% please any of us, unless they start making easy/hard modes of everything, which is very time-taxing. I’d say that older/less skillful players are already favored not only in GW2 (see Halloween’s JP vs Christmas’ one), but in the whole freaking game industry ( see SNES to Wii ), why do we have to remove any glimpse of challenge in the few hard vistas/challenges remaining?
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
If everyone progresses, there really is no progress. Thus the IND was born.
people enjoy progression, whether everyone does or not.
People enjoy fake progression that doesn’t mean anything, so obviously every game should have ever-increasing numbers because that totally increases the enjoyment and quality of the game, it’s not a cheap trick to keep you playing a sub fee IND is a bad beast, I know, but you’ll eventually get rid of it. Either that, or I’ll simply stop playing MMORPGs since it looks like the average player is brainwashed.
GW1 did fine with NO progression at all ( by your definition ) for 7 years and is still running. So yeah. I’m out of here.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
If everyone progresses, there really is no progress. All good players will have maxed gear, middle tier players will have non-noticeable differences and bad players won’t have any. This, my dear, isn’t progression, altough your IND may tell you otherwise.
And for the analogy, inappropiate as it may be my point still stands, if something is more popular it doen’t necessarily mean it’s better. WoW may still have the bigger paying playerbase, but nowadays it’s mediocre in many aspects. Call of Duty is arguably the most popular FPS game but it saddens me to think that it’s the highest quality we currently have in the genre.

I just hit rank 27 last night, and I was like…wtf am I doing? There are no rewards besides what ANET deems is cooler looking armor.
PvP for better gear, with a ranked system so my gear is not putting me at an advantage versus newer players…whoa wasn’t that simple?
I urge you to reread what you just posted, if you don’t notice a glaring issue with it just ask I’ll point it out.
P.s. Huge WoW E-sports League? I can’t say that with a straight face. Imbalance makes for great E-sport? You must be trolling me…No one should have a gear advantage. That was what kept games like wow from ever becoming an esport. Why should a skilled player lose to a less skilled player because the less skilled player has more time to grind for the better gear? Skill is skill and that is what it should take to win. Anet just needs to build upon what they already have. Fix the bugs and make a few balance changes. Add some more game modes, ladders, etc. They have a great foundation for esports, but they lack core pvp elements that have already been discussed numerous times on these threads.
gear gaps were a complaint for bad players. Every season gave you plenty of time to max out your gear and then have time to climb the ladder even with limited play time. The only people who complained were the 1500 players who even if you gave them max gear at the start of the season, would remain 1500 players. Good players even made videos of playing in blues and still dominating teams in the 2k ranges who had full gear.
Assuming equal skills, good player vs good player ends with “he had more resilience, thus he won”. That being said, if gear doesn’t really matter, as your post suggests, then why even introduce it? After all, matches are won by skill cough cough and there’s rank for bragging rights. Is it to accomodate for your Increasing Numbers Disorder?
You know for all the people who just flamed me for saying WoW is bad? Look at our player base, and look at their player base. And they actually PAY to play.
Our PvP base is getting smaller by the day, and the developers are not responding fast enough, and think players are going to stay in this game.
Sadly this game is on the cusp of being dead and to the point of no return.
*Again, like I said before, you all like to point your noses in the air and say “go back to WoW, I play GW2.” If you you are proud of being part of a dead community, more power to you brah.
You can have the best product in the world, but if nobody plays it, it is useless. This is what this game is becoming. It is just a shame that I have invested so much time :\
No I didn’t flame you, but nice cop-out. If a game is doing badly ( and to claim that you have to prove it, frees/paids are booming in EU ) then you analyze why is that and how to solve the problem, you don’t assume that we lack idiotic elements such as gear-grinds. GW2 PvP has its issues but you obviously don’t have any clue about them.
P.s. Many other MMOs copied WoW and look how succesful they were
P.p.s. Popularity =/= Quality. Justin Bieber has more fans than Rush, but whose music is better?

Please post your concerns about missing stat combos in this bigger, general thread https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Ascended-amulets-and-ascended-items-overall/first to avoid cluttering the forums with multiple threads about the same issue and giving the mods a reason to lock them. Also do notice that the thread I linked as a red response, albeit kinda unsatisfactory.
@ Vayne Knight’s gear is the definition of balanced build, Berserker is not (maximizing damage). Guess which combination currently is in ascended gear and which one is missing.
Yeah, I agree. Completing the maps of the capitals used to give you 1c as a reward, and that was removed as it honestly felt mocking.
(Some) dungeons are already the most profitable activity in the game, increasing their rewards would be dangerous, especially when you get 3x dungeon, altough I’ll never understand what’s that single copper doing there.
What bluewanders said, you can’t.
Congratulations Arenanet, good news is new
26th is approaching as fast as my hopes are going down
hell no………..
+1. Arenanet plz help me give you my money.
When I first started playing I felt the same way. BUT, after unlocking the second loadout it opened up an entirely new feeling. Now I can use a skill in one loadout and quickly swith to my second to use another skill that works very well with the first skill. The combinations are limitless it seems.
I don’t know how on earth you can see combinations as limitless. I mean, let’s get serious here. It’s about as far from limitless as earth from moon.
Also for people attacking me for being a low level and clueless, I did reach level 80 on elementalist, I did spvp for a day or so and at the end of the day I just realized – this is it, there’s nothing to learn in this class anymore, I will be using this same weapon combo, these same 23 spells (or 31 in eles case) in the exact same way forever, because these spells and weapons are simply superior, no ifs or buts they are just superior to other choices.
This is a balance problem, as in, many classes have useless skills/traits and it’s relatively easy to iron out with time. Also since you keep ignoring my questions about your experience I’ll just assume that you tried every class 1 day in SPvP and then opened the thread, which speaks volumes. No, leveling doesn’t count as it’s an entirely different game and much easier, too.
You seem to keep harping on my Qualifying Points argument as it was the only one I used. The system is faulty, as I said, but it’s the best we can do, or else we give each and every single player the right to pretend that they’ve mastered the game, they’re not in the ladder just due to time restraints.
And again, since you don’t like QP, how about everyone claiming they’ve mastered the game because it’s too easy posts a screenshot of how many paid tournaments they’ve played, just to filter out clueless people. Going 22/0 with Tryndamere @ 1000 Elo doesn’t mean you’ve mastered LoL, just as doing good in hotjoins means nothing over here. Keep in mind this is not ad hominem to OP or to anyone, just something I’m reiterating because people tend to voice opinions on things they’re clueless about.
P.s. nobody has yet to address my words regarding mechanical skills vs overall skills, or Tosha’s link regard complexity vs depth. GW2 PvP is simple ( good thing ), not shallow.
@ Declan:
You, my friend, are proving my point. Go and try to do any decent PvP match spamming CCs on cooldown (I’m even starting to memorize CCs cooldowns on Guardians and predicting them against bad players) and see how you do. CCs are crucial to interrupt stomps/revives and to keep players off points, or set up bursts with warriors/thieves. CCs are relevant and you’d know that if you had played anything other than hotjoin with <r10 players. And you can definitely chain-CC any player that has no stability, it just requires team coordination and not a single warlock spamming fear… Not that having a low amount of heavy CC is a bad thing, nobody likes being stunlocked forever with no counter
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
P.s. Unless you are top 100 Qualifying Points I don’t think you can claim about how easy the game is to master. Otherwise, if it’s so easy, why are you not up there?
I agree with what you posted except what I quoted. Easy and Time are two different things. Something can be really really easy so that anyone could master it, but require 300 hours to climb up the rankings. So while most people could do it and get to the top not everyone has the time to do so.
I know that Qualifying Points are not entirely based on how good a players is, but rely a lot on how much he plays. It’s a faulty sytem, Arenanet acknowledged that and already said it’s going to be replaced, but it’s the only system to evaluate skill we currently have. Otherwise, can I just ask OP how many paid tourneys he has won, if any?
Since you cited League of Legends and I used to be quite into that game, I’ll make an example and hopefully be as clear as possible. Let’s take Master Yi, a pretty easy champion to pick up and play: no skillshots, no difficult timings, just the usual 4 skills and the mighty right click. Would you argue that a 2200 ELO Master Yi ( or Mordekaiser, or Warwick, etc ) is as skillful as a 1200 one just because, mechanically speaking, these champions are easy to master? Of course there’d be a bigger difference with champions such as Anivia or Cassiopeia, but mechanical skills are just a (small) portion of what makes a good player. If you want that kind of mechanical challenge go play the Engineer.
And since you seem to disregard the -team- part of what is SPvP and focus solely on personal play in a team oriented pvp, pick a Guardian and come at me bro. ( I play almost solely Guardian )
I do think that there’s a lot room for skillfull play, especially in SPvP, and you are underestimating the lots of different abilities that you need to develop in order to play that game mode succesfully. It’s not only about the mechanics of your class or difficult to use/highly rewarding skills ( I agree, the game lacks more of those ), but knowledge of the enemy classes, teamwork/coordination, and most importantly situational awareness and management of downed state.
Having bigger skill bars won’t help at all.
P.s. Unless you are top 100 Qualifying Points I don’t think you can claim about how easy the game is to master. Otherwise, if it’s so easy, why are you not up there?
You can also make identical looking alts and not ask the devs to waste their time on such a pointless feature. Yes, you can’t use the same name on all of them, that’s unfortunate.
“In real life you don’t have another “yourself” to practice a different sport, job, etc. but it is just you who evolve from one to another and can always get back to it.”
In real life people die due to aging or other natural/non-natural causes. Each time we log in the game should roll a dice and see if our characters gets to live or dies and gets deleted. Bottom line is that saying that something works in a specific way in real life, so it has to be like that in a game is not a valid argument. (My apologies for such a poorly constructed sentence, I suck at english)
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
I’d prefer them to work on improving the current classes, balancing/reworking skills and traits, possibly adding new ones. After we get rid of bugs that are half a year old, we can get our 3rd heavy class No dedicated healers tough, as that would be a faceplant on Arenanet’s part.
For races I can wait as making a new one is a lot of work and I haven’t even tried anything other than norn/silvary/human.
Yes!!! Great idea!!!
I don’t get the point of this thread, care to explain?
I support your cause Thorquist :P I’m level 39 in FoTM and have (EDIT: almost) enough laurels for an amulet, but holding off as I do not want to waste 1 month worth of dailies on an amulet with stats I don’t really like. Getting gouged 250 globs for +5AR on the backpiece is also not an option for me. So I’m basically being artificially prevented from playing what I’d like to, and don’t tell me to do lv 40 with 25 AR because no party will accept me.
Can some devs tell me when they are coming or at least why they aren’t implemented in the first place? It is mind boggling to me and I’d suck if they weren’t in the 26th february release, so much that I might consider holding off on gem purchases for a while.
Edit:
As some people pointed out, I don’t have enough laurels yet . Tought monthly gave you 20 laurels, but it’s 10 instead. My bad, posted few hours before completing my monthly.
(edited by Wolfheart.1938)
No.
Character leng blablabla
You are supposed to do the first lv 10 and some of the following ones with 0 AR. Yes the agony will hurt, but from what I remember you surviving it won’t be that hard. Otherwise, just buy an ascended amulet with laurels and stick a +5 agony resistance infusion in it. It will be more than enough.
Just like the thousand of friendships formed in dungeons, right? Yeah that forced grouping works so well for making friends It’s not like we can have group content AND solo content, 99% of the game has to be designed for groups because it’s written in the Holy Bible of MMOs. Bah, I’m done with this.
