Anet isn’t about to make the normal picks completely useless buy making it account bound. People have been complaining about them being soulbound since day one, and don’t seem to want to think about the overall circumstances. Picks are gold sinks, just like WP’s. Yeah if they were account bound they would have made a killing, but it would’ve screwed up the gem/gold transfers even worse for people who went that way. I for one don’t have a single regret getting one, but I only play two characters. People who have all classes at 80 I can see why it wouldn’t be worth it.
You can’t just make these little tiny bandaid changes, you have to comprehensively reform the system.
- Add a proper in-game LFG system. Like what we had with the Christmas jumping puzzle.
- Get rid of dungeon tokens entirely, or turn them all into one type of currency
- Add a ‘Join Specific Dungeon’ button, with a 24h lockout timer for each dungeon.
- Add a ‘Join random dungeon’ button, no lockout on that.
That’s exactly how WoW’s LFG system works, and that system is the only way to get people to play every single dungeon, instead of just what’s easiest and fastest.
Right now people pick CoF because: It’s easy, it’s good money, it’s got the most popular stat combos (Berserker, Rabid [I think?], Rampager).
I know what you’re going to say, ‘BOO LFG! Then everyone will be a jerk and min/max and leave the second the run goes poorly!!’, well it’s already like that.
You already have “LF3M zerker warriors only!!!”, you already have people leaving the group and causing the entire party to get kicked, you already have people going in with poor gear, and people being asked to link all their gear.
At least with the LFG system you can actually enforce bare minimums, you can punish people for leaving dungeons prematurely, and you can disincentivize running the easiest dungeon.
I haven’t played Wow in a year, but the LFG was terrible when I did. DPS queues were 45 minutes for heroics. Gw2lfg.com has been a Godsend. Granted the majority of the posts for CoF are “lfXm zerker warriors only. Ping gear,” there’s still plenty of people posting for a “normal” group.
Check a guide and look for all the drop places. I found three dirt covered objects last week in one day in Diessa, completing the achievement. According to my earlier post about the wiki I was under the impression there were only two spawned a day. I don’t know what the heck is going on, but check everywhere.
It will never be account bound. Anet knew enough people would buy it to make a good profit, but by keeping it soulbound the majority would not. Having it account bound effectively would make mining picks useless, which would, believe it or not, affect the economy. Ori picks especially are gold sinks.
My question is, I have boxes still from launch time (don’t feel like buying keys, doesn’t seem like much of a deal since I have so many boxes). Are those boxes just going to contain crappy early stuff like boosts and tonics? I’m guessing they don’t magically change if they’ve been in my inventory for months, do they.
I got one early on from a regular unidentified dye. Early as in like 3g. I used it of course since I wanted black. Sucks since I deleted that character xD.
It kinda makes me laugh. I joined a separate guild on an alt once in WoW (main guild with RL friends wasn’t all that active) and some guy ninja’d the bank. He had waited months for access and all in all made off with 35,000 gold in raw money and items. We’re talking about a heist in this game of 10g xD.
And what’s really annoying about this? “They say it serves the guild right for giving access to new players.” I hate to make this analogy, but it’s so clear I have to. Your friends are the same dumb kittens who talk about how the girl was asking to be kitten because of the way she dressed. Disassociate with the “friend of a friend” immediately, and tell your friend what a complete moron he just was. Dishonesty and taking advantage of someone taking them in aside, he might get banned over a matter of 10g. If you’re gonna get banned for a heist, make it a legendary amount xD.

Sounds like you guys are getting the same spawns each day. Everyone seems to be missing a different item, so we can rule out that they are bugged. I got the goblet ages ago, and just used a guide to get the ship in a bottle and the compass both today. Just have to keep trying. Now I’m moving to Diessa to hopefully get those ones.
I’d like to start flipping some items on the TP since I’m sick of CoF and am jealous when people post screenshots of various things and I notice they have nearly 1000g. I have around 50 now, but I just don’t think I’m doing it right with this buy order thing. I don’t expect anybody to write out any secrets of their own, but if something like a gem is going for 25c, what’s an adequate buy-order for it, 20? I know profits start out low early so I’m not looking to make 100g in one day, I just need to get a handle on this thing. I have enough gold to try and flip items worth decent silver, but I seem to be pretty much an idiot and am only making like 2c profit on some things I’ve tried xD. Any economical advice from you economists out there? I’m not a total n00b when it comes to economy, I’m just not very good at it in video games.
Darn it, you people who keep saying re-roll. It comes all too late when we realize our character would be better suited as another race. I hated Norn for how big they were, not realizing making them as small as possible makes them barely bigger than most human characters. I wish my warrior was a Norn, but I have amassed way too much karma and time getting gear to simply “re-roll.” Re-rolling is obviously the only solution at this point, but it’s by no means simple.
Yes, it would be complicated to implement, but is by no means impossible. Making it only available to 80’s with story complete seems pretty harmless. The intro story stuff before Trahearne is where it would get tricky. As far as cultural gear goes, how about a token or something that allows us to trade it in (not sellable or refunded to avoid money exploit) or else just have it transferred to become whatever race to which we change.
TL;DR to basically say re-rolling isn’t a simple fix. People should do their research and test everything out and look at races to see how gear fits, but race change isn’t completely impossible to do if people have a change of heart too far in.
Scour that map, it has to be there. Also check the wiki or other websites that have everything listed (WPs, vistas, POI’s). Just go down the list and mark each one off you have if you have to.
Kind of agree with this. Making level 80 rares is about the only thing that turns profit. I was disappointed to find that just about all craftable greens even at high levels sold for only a few copper more than vendor best case scenario.
Just want to know for sure, since I “never” get anything but blues from them. Every now and then I’ll get a rare on occasion, and certainly never get an exotic. This goes for all chests to be honest. I know they’ve added rares to world boss chests and I enjoyed a couple from Jormag the other day, but I cry when people link the exotics they get. I know exotics from chests are supposed to be few and far between, but RNG was never my friend in WoW either. Kinda sucks to always be so unlucky D=
This is one of the most asked for things in this game as far as I can tell. The big problem isn’t just that we can’t dye them, but we only get the starter dyes to work with. Most of the best colors are at least common. It especially stinks when we get an awesome color out in the world and our whole original idea gets changed. We’re stuck with clashing hair colors. With as customizable as our characters are, I hate to complain, but it would seriously be awesome if we either could recolor it or they add more colors to start with.
Come on people, what do you want from this game? If you do the daily in all 3 paths that 180 tokens. You can get exotics in mere days. Personally I find even getting 20-30 per run after very nice. In WoW it took weeks just to get one item with the weekly resets, whereas in GW you can get like 4 in a week. Not to mention the tokens are account bound so you don’t even have to be playing the character you want to gear. There has to be at least something in place though to prevent people from getting a million tokens a day. You know if that were the case people would be complaining about how it’s too easy to get exotics in this game and there’s no challenge. Plus people would buy up all these exotics and salvage them for mats which may flood/affect the economy.
Says it’s a bad link. I run half Knights with half Zerkers and love it. I like the Knights for the toughness. I can switch to shield/ax if I have to and be a half decent tank even with Zerkers. Couldn’t see talents, but I’ll say I use healing shouts in dungeons, and despite no healing power it works pretty well.
Sorry, but to me WvW is PvP to me. I guess I would just like more options.

ON TOPIC: I love the Choose your Own Daily Achievements, and if 1 or 2 out of 10 are WvW, then it really does not matter. Let those that play WvW do them. I have 8-9 others to choose from. The previous forced WvW in Monthly achievements was far more annoying that simply having my options reduced a little.
OFF TOPIC: I have to ask this, since I have seen this a few times recently… How is WvW, where the prime opponents are other players, considered a PvE game mode? Yes, it is absolutely true that there is a little PvE content within WvW, but the vast majority of what is done in WvW is Players fighting Players for control of assets/areas. That makes it PvP by definition. WvW is mixed-mode certainly, but that mix is 90% PvP, 10% PvE. Individually, you can almost completely avoid the PvE aspects of WvW, but you cannot avoid the PvP aspects. Just because sPvP is strictly PvP and nothing else does not make any mode with any PvE a PvE mode.
Personally I find it absolutely ridiculous that WvW isn’t considered PvP. Nobody goes to WvW to fight guards and rams out in the fields. They go to crush other servers and kill other players. That’s PvP. But then again, they can call it whatever they want. I got my map completion so I don’t need to WvW anymore xD.
And by months, I mean I haven’t gotten a Black Lion chest key from the world in like 4 months. I got one during a quest when I finally finished my story on my second character as a reward, but as for monster drops it’s been forever. I know they nerfed the drop rate on chests shortly after launch since they were dropping like candy, but how about a buff on keys dropping? I’m not saying they need to drop after every other monster I kill, but it would be nice to get 1 once or twice a week. I think the Gem Store prices are a little high on the amount of keys you get, and given how many chests I have, isn’t really a viable option xD. Just a thought.
At least we can color it ourselves. Back before WoW had transmogrification, you’d have an entire city filled with people wearing absolutely identical armor. Personally I hated CoF stuff. I was/am always on the lookout for good looking stuff. I wear a mix of T2-3 cultural and some random greens I like. That’s one thing I liked about GW2 right off the bat. Being able to recolor gear easily and if I got an upgrade that was kitten ugly, I could easily transmog it since the stones are pretty easy to come by. I have 150 regular stones now, and they added up fast even on my first character.
Blueberries are a power food, high in antioxidants and low in calories. Not to mention yummy! Find a chef to put those babies into something for you. I recommend a pie. Who doesn’t love pies?
As a weaponsmith, I just created plated dowels (master) from whichever tier I had the most unneeded mats from. Just need wood and ingots. Got that monthly done in all of 1 minute xD.
If people didn’t skip anything it would take a little bit longer. Even then, who cares? For kitten’s sake, there’s always somebody who has to complain about things like this. Who cares if it’s too easy. It’s good money for the people who aren’t good at making it and don’t want to waste hours farming. If people want to spend the rest of their GW2 lives in CoF 1, let them.
Hard to put a solid number on it. Depends on the kind of drops you get. A couple bags with the 4 silver-ish coin, plus a lot of blues (in my case. That’s really all I ever get from chests).
It’s perfectly obvious why it isn’t being looked into: because dungeons are for groups. It’s ridiculous that people are complaining about this not being a priority for Anet. Soloing might be a fun way to show off some skills and add a challenge, but that’s not what they’re intended for, plain and simple.
I don’t mean to come on here and be all mad and demanding, but I just spent half my gold on the human heavy T3 chest and legs, and the dying options are terrible. I should’ve done my research, but I thought for sure that since the tabard has two parts (I count the embroidery as a second part of it) we’d be able to dye both. I was hoping for a white/green combo and when I used green it turned the whole thing a butt ugly mess. I know cosmetic stuff like this takes pretty low precedence, especially in a free to play game, but just something to consider. I have seen a couple topics on this before, so I know I’m not the only one. I guess the suggestion would be is there anyway to break the big dye bar on the top and make it into 4 small boxes so we can two-tone the tabard? To be honest, I can’t even tell what one of the small boxes does. I’ve tried lots of obnoxious colors and can’t see any differentce. Thank you.
Haven’t had any problems since launch in August, even after Wintersday and Lost Shore patches. Suddenly today I’m getting this message. Quite frustrating. I have a great internet connection and nothing like this has ever happened before in any game. Can barely even play anymore. I think the problem is ANet doesn’t know what to do about it. I suppose it could be on our end, but the fact that it’s happening to hundreds of people all over the world seems to suggest it’s something to do with the client itself. We can’t all have the same thing wrong with our computers that it’s our fault, can we?
I really want to access Fisherman Carter’s karma items, yet he and his quest are bugged currently on Isle of Janthir. I Googled it and it appears he’s been bugged for months. Any word on this. Will it reset maybe with the servers each day?
I just checked the WvWvW pane and Maguuma is at like 400,000 while IoJ is a tiny sliver with just 29k. Is simply no one from the other servers playing? I’ll admit I’m not really a fan of PvP/WvW whatever, but I did want to try to get the maps opened, but it looks like being IoJ I can just go ahead and forget it.
Is there something else that shares Vigil Leggings? I hope so but I’m sure there’s not. I did Vigil on my Warrior and didn’t do it again on my thief. How does a 22 wear them, aren’t they 80?
With as customizable as our armor is color-wise, it basically makes it impossible to pick a hair style with an accessory that we won’t be able to color change. And sadly, pretty much all the best female hair especially comes with an accessory. Norn with the bandana comes to mind. Love it, but just can’t use it. I can plan on a color scheme all I want, but when we unexpectedly get an awesome color when we open a dye, it really puts a hamper on our original choice. I love the ability to color my armor however I want. I can make my person truly unique, but ANet made us vanity hounds because of it. We can’t help it.
I have a quick question. I know Guardian’s can’t be healers per se, but if I stack healing ability and trait +healing and basically put on my best face as a healer, will I suck soloing? I mean, the survivability of Guardians in general is great, but it won’t take an hour to kill stuff will it?
