It’s absolutely been the worst on my new Necro. All my other characters it’s gone away, but it pops up on every SP and every time I map change or level.

80 is leet speek for Bo, and behind it you wrote ner.
I don’t understand :<
Does it basically just boil down to preference of survivability vs doing some more damage, or is there a distinct difference that puts one above the other? I’ve seen a few videos of Rabid Necro-tanking and doing fine conditioning things to death, so I guess the question is does how much faster do things die if I went Sinister? I’m basically just doing PvE right now: dungeons, SW, etc.
Request #3
The ability for any class to use any armor skin, regardless of weight.
I too have thought something like this would be awesome. The outfits available already kind of achieve that effect. Like the light professions wearing the Ceremonial Plate or the new Balthazar armor. Like wise heavy armor wearers using outfits that look like light or medium armor sets. Obviously, this is easy to achieve with outfits because they aren’t in the game with their own stats.

Conditions are now actually useful, so no, they don’t need a nerf. That being said, yes, burn is OP right now, everyone knows that. Anet will get to it, they have a lot on their plate.
It did 18k by the time it wore off? You seem to hate the typical response, but that’s how it is: clear it before it does all that damage. They changed the game, so adapt to it or stop playing.
I didn’t miss the stats from trait lines until I finally logged on to my character that used boon duration from that trait line and found I now had none at all. The runes and sigils that would help it are completely useless to my build. Boon duration wasn’t pivatol to my build (the traits I was using were), but it sure was nice and now I miss it.
You can actually just WP to another map and it will be gone, you don’t need to log out to character select. I just made another topic about this since I didn’t know what to search.
Ah, yes. That would be it. I tried to search but had no idea what to look for. I have used Ice Bows, that would explain it.
At some point in a map, my character will start holding what appears to be a metal rod of some kind. It goes away when I WP to another map, but it’s just weird, and kind of annoying xD.
Why did Destiny’s Edge break up originally?
You might say the battle with Kralkatorrik was a considerable "Snaff"u.
Race change could be done and there have been a million suggestions on how it could be implemented.
I don’t remember even one suggestion that offered a sensible mechanical solution. In fact, most “solutions” concentrated only on how it were to look from the player side.
This.
No player could have offered a mechanical/programming solution because no player knows the inner working of the programming.
Let’s elaborate a bit on that by looking at what is probably the most common player solution, ie. reset personal story on race change. Firstly, this kind of solution faces the same problems as allowing players to replay personal story (because that is what this solution entails) and secondly, there are bunch of minor things the choices in personal story affects, including the state of your home instance (yes that thing you only visit to mine some daily nodes, if even that) as well as numerous open world interactions related to the choice of order to join in particular.
These things seems so minor that they are easy to gloss over from players point of view because they are barely seen by most players. The problem with all of this boils down to the fact that they would have to reset your character state, but also hold partial records of every one of the previous states to an extent (ie. avoid re-earning rewards for example).
One thing to consider, when the story journal was introduced, they wouldn’t or couldn’t (because of it being either technically impossible, or cost prohibitive) allow parts of personal story to be replayed, if they couldn’t do it for the story journal all the same reasons would apply to race change.
Profession changes on the other hand, while probably easier would have a set of their own problems (namely to do with gear, and that one ultimately insignificant choice in character creation).
This doesn’t even touch on any potential design reasons against them, see Jon Peters post about why Hero Points can not be reset on demmand… of the top of my head I can’t come up with parallel for race change but that is because I too do not know how the inner systems interact with each other or have enough information on the desing behind personal story now and at launch as well as how the system accommodates for that design.
Reset personal story to zero when race is changed.
So they can get the rewards again? No thank you.
Why is this even a point? If they re-roll with a new character and do the entire story again, they’re getting all the rewards again. Either way they start from zero and get the rewards again, so why does it matter.
The change was immediately apparent. I died maybe three times in the 2.5 years prior when doing this JP, and those were flukes. After the patch I must have died 8 times trying to get down there for the Karka.
I also fell victim to this. I died like 8 times in a row before I got it. I honestly wondered WTF is going on, then someone pointed out they must have added a rock in there. I think I died maybe once on that slide in 2.5 years, and that was a total fluke at that.
;_;
I just deleted my posts. Don’t want to come off as bigoted, but I guess it’s too late xD. Guess I overreacted.
Man, you guys are quitting a great MMO, free to play at that, all over one character slot? We’ve known about Revenant for how long now? Rather than make sure you had an open slot by either buying one or farming enough gold to turn into Gems to get one (at least one half-off slot sale since they were announced, by the way), you all assumed one would be included. True, that’s a fair assumption, but an assumption none the less. We all know the saying of what happens when one assumes.
Your purchases and playstyle are your responsibility. It’s your job to make sure you have an open slot, not their’s. Like Sampro said, you had to buy three times as many slots as you do now in order to play all 8 classes when the game launched, and nobody seemed to complain very much about it back then. So yes, don’t quit the game because you’re burned out, are bored, your friends are moving on, or the core gameplay is changing too much, quit because you didn’t get a free character slot when the expansion came out.

Character Slot for Heart of Thorns? [Merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

ANet didn’t force you to buy the deluxe edition twice. All the extra money you’ve spent is on you, not them.
This is hardly the first game where players took extra steps to avoid trash mobs in dungeons. They’re called trash for a reason, and it happens that in Guild Wars 2 they’re even more trash than normal, since they usually drop nothing. Personally, I don’t feel like wasting time killing things that drop nothing. If ya’ll want to, that’s fine, just make your own group. Advertise that you don’t plan on skipping fights and you’ll still get a group. It really is that simple.
Living World is essentially one long questline released in installments to add to the gameplay. Generally it is for level 80 characters.
Season 1 is over and currently there is no way to replay it. Season 2 is set up the same way as personal story, but unlike personal story you can replay each episode of Living World that you unlock. Speaking of unlocking, you get it for free by logging in when it is released for the first two weeks. After that you have to buy it off the Gem Shop. ALL you have to do is log in, so if you’re breaking from the game, just be sure to check periodically so that when you come back you have it to play through.
To change between Personal Story and Living World, go to the story tab of your character menu in game and you can choose which one to activate.
What are you guys doing while waiting on Hot?

Silverwastes.
Made the Luminescent gear.
Working on a legendary. Just have some T6 and the pre to go.
Dungeons.
It’s actually my least favorite thing about Silverwastes, because it simply NEVER fails. You’re having fun defending Amber or Blue (or doing anything really in western Silverwastes) and suddenly 8 Terragrifs all keep charging and you die. Annoying, but not as annoying as having both the Hidden Depths waypoint contested and the tunnels closed.
Is it when you change a color and then it makes your entire outfit that color? I’ve been getting that every time I apply a dye as well. WP to another map and it’ll fix it, until you dye something again. Not sure what it is, but it is annoying.
What’s that blue btw xD
I get this all the time. You can’t port to the dungeon when the normal window pops up if you’re in combat. Every time I get into combat when someone tries to open, then get out of combat, the downloading thing pops up and I can enter.
So why doesn’t everyone enlighten us as to why my post was so bad? It was sarcasm, but AC is also the easiest dungeon there is. It’s faceroll. If they’re on the EU server he didn’t say so. I don’t know how it works over there. Same with CM. I run those daily and never see any for sale. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, yes.

Why stop there, why not make every character lvl 80, all traits unlocked, all equipment acquired copied, when you have it on another character? Why not give the gold reward for dungeons automatically every day once you have proven that you can finish all paths? Why not put the same amount of resources you farmed into every other characters bags?
It is part of the game to complete maps. If you remove every content from the game another character of yours has already done, then there would be a lot less to do, less play time, less active accounts. That´s how MMORPG work and for good reason, no dev can keep up with players when it comes to content consumption. If you feel the time is wasted, well, then stick to your one character. I have never seen someone play through a “normal” game, then restart it and demand the content already done should be removed, just skip to the credits please.
Please get over yourself as soon as possible, and quit whining. If someone wants an option to skip map completion, what harm does it do to you? Some people find that after finishing 100% on even their 4th character it becomes completely mind numbing. Some people like it so much doing it for the 18th time is great. Good for you. For other people, who wish to make that decision for themselves, there is absolutely, positively nothing wrong with their being an option for creating a new character that, after completing 100% once previously, provides an option to start with a 100% open map so long as they understand they will receive no rewards. It’s not EZ mode, it’s not instant 80, instant exotic gear, etc. I don’t understand why people get so up in arms when someone else states they’d like to skip map completion. Worry about yourselves and complete your map 46 times if you want.
(edited by Woljnir.7810)
Honestly, nobody is going to buy those. CM, possibly, but nowadays with stacking it’s not nearly as hard as it was. AC definitely not. Anybody needing to buy AC needs to /uninstall, it’s quick and not hard at all even with a newbie group.

Immunity to conditions while above a certain health threshold
Hey man, if you don’t want that, they can always give it to Engi instead
Engi’s can have it as far as I’m concerned. The threshold is 90%. On paper I couldn’t wait to equip this trait, but then I found it completely useless is just about every facet of the game (PvE, WvW, and PvP), since as an Ele getting knocked below 90% HP is far too easy.
Come on people, seriously? Put it away. It follows you around, how is it a pain that once you start PvP or WvW you see it and think “oh, better put that away.”
I don’t res rangers with bear pets.
Most Rangers hate that bear as much as you do, believe it or not. Sadly, depending on the dungeon it’s basically the only pet that can withstand…pretty much anything from the boss. The cats and birds that do the most DPS generally go down immediately once the fight starts, especially in AoE intensive fights. As Rangers we need a pet out doing some damage. Bear doing damage is better than nothing.
(edited by Woljnir.7810)
To fix it, take all the separate stacks with you and WP to another map. They should then be stackable again. Not sure what causes it, but it is a pain. Try doing the WP trick and see if that works. It worked for me.
This is getting VERY aggravating. Like, the game is currently unplayable because all I want to do right now is dungeons. I map hopped a bit for Vinewrath, but that was hours ago. What is the time frame exactly, or is this still a bug after all this time?
I just made an Engineer, and I concur they are great for exploration. With speedy kits you can have perma swiftness (faster than a 25% signet or trait) and rocket boots has a low 20 second cooldown. If I skip hearts, I can get everything else in a map done in as little as 20 minutes (depending on map size/amount of impassable mountains etc). I found skipping the hearts initially and getting everything else on each map (treating each map like Orr: getting POIs, vistas, WPs and SPs) is really fast. Going back for hearts after that you can just ping pong between the WPs. It is much faster than doing each heart as you come to it.
The SP south of Harbinger’s Torch is perma-contested. Even after the temple events are successful the brambles stay active. Without a thief the SP is impossible to get.
Thanks for the feedback. I have a ways to go yet to 80 but it’s nice to have some suggestions to practice.
New engineer here. I’m planning on PVP once I get to 80 and want to be that annoying pain in the kitten that ties up 2 or even 3 of the other team trying to kill me at a point. I’m currently at work, where pretty much all of GW2 stuff is blocked expect the forums miraculously. I’m just wondering what HGH means as a build. I’ve read most of the other stuff and have some general ideas of what I’ll need to do once I get 80. Thanks
There are several sets currently unavailable. Some people were lucky an got them in PvP chests, which carried over when wardrobe became a thing. I got Feathers of Dwayna that way for free. It sucks because pretty much all of the unavailable armor is pretty good looking.
The off hands can be awful. I think I have 7 warhorn kills in 2 years. Honestly I think I’m just going to give up on those. Sam as with giants. I have 9 Giant kills in the same amount of time. Most everything else I can get just playing. I’m over 2500 for most main hands at least.
Oh, there is one thing that truly bothers me. According to my understanding, there will be no more new content for people who don’t buy the expansion. Although what I really hope is that they meant no more living story. Either way I think it’s wrong. There should be living story for people who didn’t buy the expansion.
Wait a minute. Are you being serious right now? Expanding is how MMOs work. You play the game for a few years or so, then they release an expansion with a ton of new stuff all around. Of course there won’t be anything new for people who don’t buy the expansion, you’re still playing the base game. Should be common sense. MMO expansions have ALWAYS cost money to buy. This is absolutely nothing new.
People who buy the game should get the game as advertised. And it was advertised as having a living story. Not “Living story until we put out an expansion”.
Again, what’s the problem. You DO have the exact game as advertised that you purchased. Living story will continue, just in the expansion, because that’s the nature of an MMO.
Kind of stinks it’s that way, but by incorporating Living Story into the Personal Story format there really wasn’t any way around it. The good news is if you redo it on another character you can get some of the big rewards again. This is especially nice for getting some of the Carapace pieces without having to save up thousands of Bandit Seals.
Mails from Anet are rare unless you’re having a problem or support is involved. I think it’s excellent they include that blurb underneath that the mail was sent by another player and not GW2 staff. Not only that, but a GM would never have such an incredibly stupid name like that. GM accounts are strictly for Anet employees on the clock and will have an appropriate name xD.
So when people take breaks, they forsake everything about the game for as long as they’re gone? No forums, no newsletters, no nothing? I’ve taken 3 extended breaks from the game myself, but every once in a while I checked out the forums to see what was new. I even get emails from time to time despite not formally signing up. I was on a break during the second have of season 2, but still logged in to get it for when I decided to come back.
If you want to take a break from a game, that’s fine. Everyone does it. But it’s pretty stupid to come on here when you decide to come back and complain about stuff you missed while you were gone. Especially when it was announced well in advance that all you would have to do is log in in order to get the stuff for free. It’s like a retail store finally putting something you’ve wanted on sale for cheap, but you were on vacation that week. Then when you find out you missed it it’s everyone else’s fault and you get all mad at the people at the service desk. I worked retail for 5 years. It happens all the time.
The lack of real rewards is the main reason people don’t go there anymore. That and it’s not solo friendly in the least. It’s good for shell and weapon master kills though. There are a TON of ambient crabs between the two ships in the north that respawn fairly quickly. Despite being ambient, they also count towards the shelled enemy slayer.
I’ve seen people say they reset the instance once they fail an achievement. How exactly is this done? I tried searching and didn’t find anything helpful. Logging out is a pain in the kitten xD.

Main hand shield just doesn’t make sense to be honest. Unless the auto attack animation was throwing phantasmal shields like Captain America, it’s difficult to imagine using a weapon that defines defense as a main hand. Pistol? Yes please. Right now only there’s only 2 MH pistol users in Thieves and Engineers, correct? Some weapons are to underrepresented. Someone else needs pistols, and it needs to be Mesmer.
So you want the enjoyment that others find in map exploration (WP discovery is part of that) to go away just because you don’t enjoy it?
However, what I would not have a problem with is those who have achieved 100% map exploration once already being asked at character creation if they want that character to have WP’s discovered already. With the caveat that if you choose to have them discovered, that character can’t earn Gifts of Exploration. In my opinion if you don’t fully explore every map, WP’s included, you don’t earn the Gifts.
Now now, don’t go acting all high and mighty. By the time most (or at least a great many) people get to that 6th or 7th character, map exploration becomes extremely monotonous. Sometimes the reward from getting a map aren’t enough incentive. Then again, taking away the gifts to people who want the WPs is not really a big deal I guess. I don’t know anybody who has started a character with the sole purpose of completing map just to get more gifts. Of course, that doesn’t mean they aren’t out there.
I don’t think players given the option to have all WPs unlocked if they’ve already done 100% is in any way game-breaking or indicative of them needing less reward. Been there, done that is the title given for 100% is it not? By the time people get to their 8th character, we’ve most certainly been there, and we’ve most certainly done that.
It’s an inherent, huge problem for this game. Things like Lodestones or other mats needed simply can’t be farmed per se as people are used too. You could run 20 CoE paths and not get a single Lodestone. You could do 50 paths and not get a Lodestone.
There have always been two ways to get desired, “special” items. 1) Buy everything to make it if your rich, or if you’re really rich, buy the item outright. 2) Build it yourself by farming everything, probably taking a few months.
Effectively, GW2 doesn’t allow the second way. Things like Giant’s Eye or certain Lodestones simply can’t be gone out and farmed for with any reasonable certainty. Getting those is luck based.
I like the Ebonhawke Dagger. They can be bought in Fields of Ruin. It has a simple look and really looks like a traditional dagger. The hilt may not match your color scheme though. As for pistols the Whispers Secret Pistol is neat looking. Comes with a silencer for cosmetic effect. The other best looking are hard to get. Ascended crafting isn’t easy, and the ones for purchase can be very expensive (Aetherized looks awesome).
