Map completion question...

The thing that always irked me is that the Borderlands are all the exact same map. Having to do all three seems stupid. Like everyone said, it may take some cycles, but your server will eventually be the color you need and will hold SMC and you’ll be able to get it done.

Heavy armor looks different from Norn/Human.

I know it’s just a nitpick, but is it just a clipping issue? On a human female, heavy shoulders conform and wrap around the shoulders so much better than Norn females. It’s not that big a deal and I don’t think this would classify as a bug, but all the heavy shoulders do this on Norn. I’m sure this has probably come up before and I know Charr and Asura have it way worse xD.

Also there was about 5 minutes or so where I didn’t realized the little trolls were putting out the ring. After that it all made sense and was kind of neat.

So… let me get this straight, ANet. I’m being penalized because I had personal issues keeping me from the game

Yes, as a matter of fact. Your personal reasons for not playing the game are obviously your own. It’s not ANet’s problem you stopped playing, it’s yours. Everybody has spells where they take breaks from the game. MMO burnout happens. Heck, I’ve taken 2-3 month breaks myself. You need not explain at all why you stopped playing, but the point is you not only stopped playing, you stopped following altogether. Are you saying you couldn’t pop on the forums every now and then to see what was happening/coming soon?

The point isn’t that you stopped playing, it’s that you stopped following completely and missed all the announcements and all the hoopla about everything, and now that you’re back it’s someone else’s fault you weren’t around for the news and now have to pay. All you had to do is log in and you got the content. Unless you feel like expounding on why exactly you couldn’t play, that hardly sounds like much of a commitment to me, even for people on a break.

Is the update going to reset the monthly?

Or, is the plan to just wait until February to get on to a more permanent schedule to get rid of the old monthly bar and get the new schedule more in to form? I only ask because the update comes Tuesday, and I’ll complete the new monthly schedule Wednesday, so that would obviously reek if it resets with 1 day left on the big chest xD.

Monthly has Been Killed...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Woljnir.7810

Woljnir.7810

Keep in mind the monthly was still intact for December since the patch was mid-month. There hasn’t been an update yet for January, has there. Hence, the monthly panel is still there because it’s only the 2nd day of the month. Settle down people. So quick to jump on the blame wagon when things are working perfectly as intended. The new monthly is way better and you get much better rewards for it, and all you have to do to enjoy these rewards is log in.

“Every time a bell rings, someone asks about the monthly.” Seriously, every 2 minutes someone in map chat freaks out about there not being a monthly. Been away? That’s fine, though most people when they decide to come back to a game check out the latest patch notes to see if things have changed. I forget how forgetful I am sometimes, people don’t know how to read patch notes. They’d rather complain about stuff that is perfectly written out for them in explanation.

Marionette style world boss in Silverwastes?

The Marionette was met with too much backlash, because what made it fun also hurt it considerably: the group aspect. I didn’t get several achievements from Marionette despite perfection on my part, directly do to other people’s inability to complete their platform since you only got credit for all 5 platforms having success. As fun as it was, the backlash for being penalized for other people’s mistakes kind of tainted the event overall and I doubt they’ll directly recreate it with the new event, that is unless they tweak it considerably.

Man, I must be super lucky then. No sarcasm intended, and I know because it’s never happened to me it doesn’t happen, but I’ve never been kicked from a dungeon simply because of my profession, and I’ve run all the usual suspects in Engineer, Thief, and Ranger. I find it strange people out there blame the Thief when someone else kitten’s up the SR or something. I’ve had plenty of runs where people bork it up including Ranger’s not stowing pet and no one has ever taken it out on me.

While I tend to agree that story should be account bound, isn’t there now a semi-fix for this since instance owners are gone? I haven’t needed to try yet, but couldn’t you start a dungeon on a character who has story done, then when someone else enters quickly switch to the character you were playing? Switching characters sounds annoying, but honestly it only takes a few seconds and I’d rather do that than do story 6 times for each dungeon on each character.

I miss being a dedicated healer. The fact is support is pointless in dungeons. Sure, throwing out might and and protection is nice to have, but it’s not needed in the least to mow through bosses. Bosses that decide to attack me 2-3 shot me whether I have buffs or not. I’m not saying GW2’s system doesn’t work, but the bottom line is with the doing away of the trinity this really is a 90% DPS only game.

I started off playing this game thoroughly impressed with the customization available, from dying to transmuting so seeing two people wearing the EXACT same things was almost an impossibility. As of late though the outfits have just been a huge disappointment. I’ve bought a few armor skins since launch and it was nice because I could substitute other items if they looked better than what the armor skin came with. These outfits though, I’m just not ever going to buy any of them. Starting off not being limited to all or nothing when it came to the skins doesn’t make these outfits appealing in the least. I don’t want to be forced to wear the whole thing if I only like the chest or legs or something. And yes, some of the older skins were impressive enough that I bought the whole thing just for one piece.

Some of ya’ll just don’t get it. People who think he shouldn’t get it back don’t say so because they’re cruel or want him to suffer. There was once a thing called “responsibility.” I know, this is a freakin’ video game. But looking at the facts the Forging of his Dusk is entirely, 100% his fault. He got it and wasn’t careful and in the clicking frenzy we all usually do when Forging things he didn’t notice he put it in. It’s not like he got it and then the game client crashed and he logged back in and it was gone. He wasn’t paying attention. Honestly, I don’t think it should be refunded either. It’s nice if it is, I’m glad for you, but in principle, you kittened up and it’s your fault, not Anet’s.

Ranger is awesome for PvE, especially solo. Thief is good too because they have some great escape capabilities if you bite off more than you can chew in both PvE and WvW. Rangers you have to be careful in dungeons sometimes especially. Your pet is clumsy and sometimes it starts a boss fight before everyone’s ready or it ruins a cloak of shadows from a thief, etc.

I don’t understand. They released all of those skins in the first couple years that could easily be mixed and match. Suddenly now everything’s an “outfit” that can’t be mixed with anything else. My only problem with stacking is now people want to stack “everything.” Best example is CoF 2 after the devourer nests those 3 Flameforged whatevers you need to kill in the little room. Never ONCE have those 3 EVER been a problem, but now it’s stack around the corner or gtfo.

Trying not to rant about stacking, as it actually is pretty helpful at time especially in CM. I don’t go down NEAR as many times as I used to pre stacking in certain areas, but it’s painful to have every group I join feel the need to stack easy bosses or enemies.

Giant Eyes are too rare.

in Crafting

Posted by: Woljnir.7810

Woljnir.7810

It’s the most fundamental problem with GW2 as a whole (in my opinion): you can’t just go out and farm the things you need to make the special weapons. Take Legendaries for example. In MMOs there have always been two ways to create an item like a Legendary:

1) Easy way: For the rich players, make it quickly by simply buying everything you need. Or if you’re very rich, just buy the item out-right.

2) Hard way: For poorer players, head out into the world and gather, collect, and farm your butt off to get the items you need to start crafting. Cost effective, but takes MUCH longer to complete.

The hard way doesn’t exist in GW2. There are some items you simply just can’t go out and farm. Laurels have made T6 pretty negligible now that you can get the bags from a vendor for only 1 Laurel. However, rare items like Lodestones (Charged cough) or something like Giant’s Eyes simple cannot be farmed in any way. Bags are a joke. If those rare items could reasonably be farmed to the tune of 6-10/hr there wouldn’t be any problem.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen a neat skin that when I go to the Wiki to check the mats and see a requirement of 250 Giant Eyes, Charged Lodestones, or something else I have maybe 2 of (I’ve never once looted a Giant Eye in over 2 years of playing) I just quietly close the window and go back to playing. I’m not saying I want the more exotic, rare skins handed to me. Some of these items SHOULD be difficult/time consuming to get. But they shouldn’t be straight up impossible for poorer players/casuals to get just because of item rarity.

I can’t believe people are not only still trying to sell dungeons, but also keep coming back here to complain about it when they get ripped off. Anet has said repeatedly, that, #1: they don’t care about dungeon sellers getting scammed. Advertising your party allows anyone to join it. People initiating kicks is likely to happen from people who don’t know you and don’t care about you. #2: they are aware of this unfair kicking, which is why they keep urging players to report. They have said already they are working on fixing the 2 player requirement but it is not as easy to code as it sounds.

Please remove the ledge in SE p3

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Woljnir.7810

Woljnir.7810

Oh, look. Another “I don’t like such and such therefore it needs to be removed/changed” topic on an MMO message board.

The ledge is not an exploit at all. We don’t program the game. It’s not our fault the Dredge don’t run up the ramp to attack us. Most people could care less about dungeons. All they are are zergs for tokens. Anet themselves turned them into that by not adding new ones periodically. Nobody has time for trash that doesn’t drop anything. Nobody has time for bosses that take 10 minutes to kill for only blues and greens. Nobody has time to kill the carrier on the ground when you can safely range it from the ledge. Don’t like it I’d advise using the LFG option to see if anyone else wants to join you in fighting it on the ground. Otherwise coming here to complain about it and ask it to be changed is just stupid. It’s not going to happen. They closed off the one hallway in CoF 1 and it didn’t change a kitten thing. People still OOC on the other side of the room. Dungeons have been this way for so long that they are past the point of being fixed.

The reward for 100% is a disaster, that much is true. I’m fine with the regular map rewards to be honest, but the devastation I felt when I finally got 100% the first time can’t even be described with words. I had no intention of ever completing a Legendary, and still don’t. It just doesn’t fit my playstyle. Finding out all we got were 2 gifts that went towards a Legendary, I just silently exited the game in complete shock, as I had tried to avoid looking ahead of time what the reward would be. I wasn’t expecting 500g, but I was expecting some, like maybe 20 at least, and maybe some neat items. Nope.

I wish keys were easier to get in the world without having to buy them. I remember back in the day I might even get 2 off drops in one day. I can’t even tell you the last time I got a key off a drop, but it’s been 1.5 years at least. Now that my latest alt is 100% map, I won’t be getting anymore keys because with the RNG the boxes give it’s just an absolute ripoff to buy them. Granted, I did open a chest that contained a ticket scrap, a full ticket, and a total makeover kit, but more often than not I end up with 2 boosters (sometimes even the same exact one twice) and an instant repair canister. If I had actually spent money on keys and opened a chest to those results I’d probably rage /uninstall.

Charged Lodes and Cores

in Crafting

Posted by: Woljnir.7810

Woljnir.7810

That’s a fundamental problem with this game that vets have known since launch but newer players may not understand: you can’t just go out and farm mats you need. It sucks. Legendaries and the cooler MF weapons wouldn’t be nearly as difficult to obtain or downright out of a players league if things like Lodestones could be farmed to the tune of 4-5/hour or something at least halfway reliable. I’ll skim through neat looking skins and think “hmm, that’s something I could spend some time trying to make that would fulfill a sense of accomplishment…oh, 250 Charged Lodestones. Nevermind.” Granted, players who really want them will get them, but for players like me it’s just not worth it. I don’t have the play time or the gold making abilities to hammer out getting 250 Lodestones in a reasonable amount of time.

Woljnir.7810

So many opinions in this topic. The change to leveling IS stupid. I won’t be leveling any more alts, and that is all personal preference. We’ve leveled the same way for two years and suddenly they changed everything. Change is inevitable, yes, but that doesn’t mean we have to like it. A lot of people don’t mind the change, and a lot of people think it’s stupid. Telling them something like calling it stupid doesn’t make it stupid, is pretty stupid.

The new system is like baby mode. Don’t get me wrong, RPG’s generally need tutorials for new players and I’m not altogether against something like this, but it would have been nice if accounts could have been grandfathered and been able to skip the newbie stuff. Characters were grandfathered when they changed the talents. This new system should have been for new accounts, and veteran players who have been around from the beginning should not half to be bothered by it. Of course, simply my opinion.

DPS meters are just wholly unnecessary for this game. Games like WoW with 25 people raids and enrage timers and what not then yes. There’s a considerably larger chance that someone/several people are mooching and not contributing. The 5-man dungeons in this game are, in all honesty (don’t mod me Anet D=), a joke by RPG dungeon standards. So many paths can be completed in less than 10 minutes. I’m not going to throw around words like elitist, but people need to calm down in treating dungeons like they’re serious business.

It would be nice to have something like Recount so i can see who isn’t pulling their weight. Can’t stand leechers who get loot and gold off of others hard work and abilities.

I can’t fathom the sheer idiocy of such a statement as it pertains to Guild Wars 2. Since when are the dungeons in this game that hardcore to require something like a DPS meter? There is not a single thing in this game outside of maybe grinding a Legendary that can be even remotely referred to as “work.” Half the time I end up four-manning a dungeon because the group is too impatient to wait for someone else to join. Coupled with the fact that everyone gets their own loot from dungeons and freeloaders don’t steal anything from you you’ve been trying to get, why is it such a problem? Because it took an extra minute or two to down a boss because someone wasn’t Zerker? Oh. My. Jesus. I’m quitting the game right now.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Woljnir.7810

Typical MMO community. People complain about instance owners and how them leaving kicks everyone out, especially when the dungeon is almost done. Here comes Anet with a fix and we get these incredibly stupid topics over and over.

How many times do they have to say the same thing. Selling isn’t banned, but it’s not supported in any way. Anet simply does not care if seller’s dungeon’s are stolen. It’s not rocket science. There’s no hidden meaning. They dont. Kitten. Care. That being said, they DO care about normal, non-selling groups getting hijacked. Nothing has changed. Report it.

Griefers exist in MMO’s. That’s not even remotely new either so why is everyone acting like GW2 is the first MMO to have people griefing like this. Again, report it and move on. Granted, needing more than 2 for a kick is definitely needed, but until that can be implemented, take Chris’ advice:

“Dungeon selling is not something that will be officially supported. Listing a group on the LFG tool is opening it up to a public realm and you do so at your own risk.”

Don’t twist his words into something they aren’t. Opening your group via LFG leaves it open to some jerk or griefer(s) joining. You’re inviting people you don’t know to join your group. Of course there’s risk involved, whether your selling or not.

If someone completes the dungeon while you are attempting to selling it, we are not going to take action against that person. If you invite them into your group or list the group via LFG, they are well within their right to finish the dungeon if you decide to leave the boss at 1%.

Even if they’re screwing over other players? If they’re trolling the seller? When are you going to do something about it? Is the only way that you’re going to take action is if someone is “exploiting” the run?

Reread what he said. They are never going to do anything about it. Dungeons listed via LFG that people are trying to sell that are then completed by 1 or more of the people who join before the seller was “ready” is not an infraction of any possible kind. People join dungeon groups to complete dungeons. Anet doesn’t see people joining a dungeon group and then finishing said dungeon as “screwing over” the other members of the group. Sell at your own risk has been the policy since day one when selling started to become popular. Anet allows it because it’s not actually an exploit, but if you get screwed out of money for a botched sale, it’s your own kitten problem.

If you want to get all the content for free, get World of Warcraft. Oh wait, you have to pay each month, even when you’re not playing, and buy an expansion each year.

If you’re not there when a LS chapter is released, you get the option to buy it for 200 gems afterwards. They could also have not given you the option like with LS season 1. But then you’d probably be complaining about “having no option to replay the content you missed”.

its not that i want all content free its about getting new content if i pay fees in gems or cash i would expect more than some lazy mini events which hardly even add new areas

Again, buying gems etc is entirely up to you. Anet doesn’t force you to buy anything. Choosing to make a totally optional purchase doesn’t entitle you to anything.
